T3's Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier review in a sentence: Best design yet with performance to match.

Much as I enjoy the benefits of owning an air purifier, getting one to suit the size of the rooms in my house has been a journey. I started out with the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i model, which was brilliant but too big for smaller rooms. The rather more compact Blue Air Blue Max 3250i was a decent compromise, but that has been around for a while now.

Enter then, the Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier, which is a brand new design from the Scandinavian air quality experts. This will probably end up in our best air purifier guide, much like other products from the company. It not only fits the size of my rooms perfectly, but it also comes armed with a great new design and excellent performance to match.

While times are hard for many currently, it’s still worth investing in an air purifier because they are great at improving the air quality inside our homes, as well as workplaces. With so many of us having to deal with damp and mould or fend off the effects of allergens and unpleasant air particles, a decent air purifier can be a sound investment.

Another bonus is the ability of an air purifier for removing unwanted smells, especially from cooking. If you live in a small place, or have an open plan living area, this can make an air purifier make even more sense. The Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier seems ideally suited for all of the above tasks, plus the fact, it looks dynamite too. Here’s how I’ve been getting on with it over the last couple of weeks…

Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier: price and availability

The Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 T10i or T20i Air Purifier models are available now and can be purchased direct, although it might be worthy trying Amazon, which currently has the T20i for $524.95 in the US, down from $599.99. This represents a 13% saving over the recommended retail price.

Blueair does offer the smaller T10i seen here for around $100 or so less if a more compact and lower performance machine is needed instead. For the UK, expect to bag the T10i for £399 from Amazon in the UK while the T20i is about £100 extra.

Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier: what is it?

The Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier is available in two sizes, small and large in the shape of the T10i and T20i models respectively. I’ve been trying the smaller of the pair, the T10i and it feels ideally suited to average type homes with rooms that aren’t too big. This model not only packs the usual Blueair expected standard air purification controls but it also has the benefit of heating and cooling, making it an ideal all-rounder.

Having the heat and cool controls plus the air purification tools in one unit makes the Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier ideally suited as an all-year-round purchase. The unit also comes in a great new design, with a tubular style construction that isn’t too big at 13.6" deep x 13.6" wide x 27.4" high, which is another boon for average-sized homeowners. Blueair reckons the T20i is perfect for rooms up to 1,689 ft², while the lowlier T10i can do up to 840 ft².

This model boasts plenty of power, 1500 Watts no less, can be operated using a touch panel on the top or via the Blueair app and features an oscillating design. This means the unit rotates at a steady speed backwards and forwards to work more efficiently. It comes complete with a pre-installed filter (which will need replacement over time) and has a printed user manual to help with setup and installation. However, it basically works right out of the box once it has been plugged in.

Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier: is it any good?

There are plenty of air purifiers out there that carry out basic air purification tasks without breaking the bank. The Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier is a little more premium, plus it comes with the benefit of being able to deliver heat and cooled air effectively via its oscillating base.

I’d say it will be ideally suited to anyone with a home or apartment that wants to keep a fairly constant temperature in a specific room, while also removing pollutants. Cooking smells are another bane, especially for folks with smaller properties, and the Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier is also good at removing these too. Bag it at a discount and it makes a sound proposition, especially seeing as it comes from the respected Blueair brand.

Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier: performance

I tried all the features and functions of the Blueair ComfortPure3-in-1 Air Purifier and it seemed to be very good as I’d expect from this brand. Setting up is a doddle as it was simply a case of plugging in, powering on and then using the touchpad on the top of the unit to adjust the touch settings. The display is pretty good, although does leave me wondering how durable it’ll be as it isn’t as solid in feel as that found on the mighty Blueair HealthProtect 7470i.

Nevertheless, the range of setting options are impressive, with heat and cooling activated with a tp of their relevant icons. Intensity of the fan can be done with a similar tap of the fan icon, while up and down arrows allow pinpoint activation of the efficiency settings. It’s all very easy. This unit oscillates too, which seemed quite effective although it did let out eh odd squeak from time to time. That might just be due to being new though.

Blueair’s official figures state this unit will clean 175 ft² in 12.5 minutes 420 ft² in 30 minutes, and 840 ft² in 1 hour. While it’s hard to gauge this in real world scenarios, I’d say it seems as efficiently as any other Blueair unit I’ve owned. Naturally, this machine can be setup to work using the Blueair app, which has always been impressive, as well as using Alexa voice control. It’s pretty quiet during operation too, even with the fan set on maximum I thought it was no less intrusive than having a room fan on the go.

Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier: verdict

This is a very practical unit that is going to be perfect for average houses or apartments. The design is super compact and there’s also a handy lifting strap so it can be moved from room to room. I like the control panel on the top, but the Blueair app is always a great option if preferred, as is the Alexa compatibility. If it can be bagged with a bit of a discount, as air purifiers often are, the Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier is a solid package.

Blueair ComfortPure 3-in-1 Air Purifier: alternatives to consider

If you're keen on the Blueair brand, which is arguably one of the most active of the air purifier brands, then the Blueair Blue Max 3250i is another good bet. Even more so if you’re after something slightly bigger. A step up again from that is the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i, which I’ve owned for a few years and still gets the job done in a large living room. It's just very big and heavy.

While Blueair is always a good route to take, there are plenty of other options too. Take the Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool Formaldehyde, for example, although if it’s a solid brand name and compact dimensions you’re after, the AEG AX3 as seen in our guide is another model well worth considering.
