The Dixons Retail group has announced that it is to exclusively support the UK launch of two new Android powered tablets from Advent, the 10.1-inch Advent Vega and the more compact 7-inch Advent Amico.
Set to hit shelves of PC World and Currys, both subsidiaries of Dixons Retail, on November 1st, the £129.99, Android 2.1 touting Advent Amico and £249.99 priced, Android 2.2 powered Advent Vega are to join the rapidly growing Google running tablet bandwagon that in recent weeks has seen announcements from the likes of Samsung and its GalaxyTab and highstreet fashion retailer Next.
Featuring a 7-inch screen and built-in Wi-Fi, the Amico will be one of the lowest priced tablets on the market and will line up next to its larger sibling, the 10.1-inch FroYo Vega tablet. The Vega, which comes equipped with 4GB of internal storage and a 10-hour continual use battery life, will feature a 1.3-megapixel camera within its 14mm thick shell that also plays host to Wi-Fi connectivity.
Jeremy Fennell, Category Director at Dixons Retail speaking on the new Advent devices said: We expect tablets to take the computing market by storm and become one of the most popular gifts this Christmas. While top of the range tablets may be all singing and dancing, the Advent Amico is a great, no frills, starter product. The Advent Vega meanwhile offers those who want more from their tablets.”
