The Amazon Kindle has just been given an overhaul. And what’s more you can lay your mitts on it through the retailer’s UK site, rather than having to get it imported via the US store.
There are two new models. A Wi-Fi only edition for £109, and a 3G-packing version costing £149. Both rock a new eInk screen with 50 per cent better contrast, as well as speedier page turns and a frame which is 21 per cent smaller than the last model.
Amazon has also pulled the wrappers off its UK Kindle store, which it says will be the cheapest virtual book store on these shores, with 400,000 titles at launch. You’ll also be able to snaffle newspapers and magazines for your Kindle over-the-air.
Both new Kindles are due to land on 27 August, in white or graphite. After years of waiting, it seems Amazon is finally treating us UK gadget fans properly. Will you be buying a new Amazon Kindle? Tell us now on Facebook or Twitter.
