Apple iOS 7 release date revealed
Apple has revealed that its new iOS 7 operating system for iPhones and iPads will be released on September 18th
Apple has revealed that the latest version of its operating system, iOS 7, will be released on September 18th.
iOS 7 will be available across iPhones (4 and later), iPads (2 and later), the iPad Mini and the 5th generation of the iPod touch platforms.
Boasting over 200 new features, iOS 7 is the biggest change to the look and feel of Apple's smart-device operating system since the launch of the first iPhone back in 2007. iOS7 sports a flat-design, with the skudeomorpism of the previous design done away with.
The new features include Control Center , which offers quicker access to tools and settings, the peer-to-peer file sharing service, Airdrop, and a free Internet Radio service called iTunes Radio.
Users will also be able to use the voice-activated service Siri to search platforms such as Twitter. Wikipedia and Bing. iOS 7 has also a new redesigned Photos app with a new feature called Moments, which organises the user's photos and videos based on time and location;
Apple expects millions of users to download the new operating system when it is made available for free later this month. Vice president of Software Engineering at Apple, Craig Federighi, said that iOS 7 would be "almost like getting a new device".
"iOS 7 is completely redesigned with an entirely new user interface and over 200 new features, so it’s like getting a brand new device, but one that will still be instantly familiar to our users,” he said.
"iOS 7 will quickly become the world's most popular operating system," Apple CEO Tim Cook said.
