Next up in our countdown of the hottest 100 gadgets on the planet is the Sony Crystal LED TV
OLED isn’t the only game in town when it comes to next-gen telly tech; not unusually, Sony’s taking its own path. The Japanese giant’s Crystal tech allows six million LEDs to be lined up side by side. These miniscule bulbs, arranged in the time-honoured red-green-blue formation, bring better contrast, a wider range of colours and smarter energy efficiency.
Sony promises 3.5 times higher contrast ratio, approximately 1.4 times wider colour gamut, and roughly 10 times faster video image response time, all while lowering power consumption as compared to existing LCD displays. We want it now.
