Samsung's wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 "will be cheaper" than the regular model – it looks like this is the future for foldables
The wider folding Samsung could be the model to go for
Quick Summary
Samsung's prices for the 2026 Galaxy Z models have leaked with a reported increase across all models and capacities.
But while the Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to be more expensive than its 2025 counterpart, the new Z Fold 8 wide model should be cheaper.
Samsung will soon announce a new collection of folding phones, including a wider model that's thought to be called the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. And the good news is that the new folding phone could be cheaper than the Z Fold 8 Ultra it launches alongside.
There are expected to be price increases to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Flip 8, making them more expensive that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 that they respectively update.
That might make the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 (the wide model) look even more attractive, as it will appear to offer comparatively more value for money.
The leaked prices come from WinFuture, a reliable source for such information. It suggests the entry-level Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 will see a €100 price increase compared to the 2025 models. That's likely to translate into a £100 or $100 price bump in other regions.
The starting price for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra sits at an alleged €2,199, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 comes in at €1,999. That will mean that the new wider format device, while dropping a camera from the back, remains the cheaper model.
Price increases in devices is being driving by a number of factors, not least the demand on storage and RAM from the growth in the AI industry. This has had a knock-on effect of increasing prices from many brands – including Apple.
While the entry-level prices for Samsung's new devices are a little more expensive than previously, this ramps up as you increase more storage. That sees the 1TB version of the Z Fold 8 Ultra costing €280 more than previously, while the 512GB version of the Z Flip 8 is €180 more than last year.

That might deter some users from buying the higher capacity models, but it's thought that Samsung will be offering pre-order incentives, including double storage. That might make it a little easier to get the higher capacity device that you want.
However, such pre-order deals often don't last long, so you'll have to make sure that you get that order in soon after the phones are announced on 22 July.
