Since the Apple App Store launched in Summer 2008, mobile phone applications have generally contributed to our lives being an absolute piece of cake. Nowhere is that assistance greater required than during the annual torture that is Christmas shopping.
In this edition of the App Off, we're once again placing the Apple iPhone against the Android-packing HTC Hero, to discover which offers the most assistance when battling the Yuletide crowds.

Rhi is testing the Amazon application for iPhone, which allows users to take a picture of their chosen item, upload it to Amazon Remembers and compare new and used prices on the Amazon.co.uk website. Chris has the ShopSavvy application which uses Android's barcode scanner to search for the best prices across the web and on the high street.

Very strange to compare two different types of apps and then declare a winner for one app store over the other. Surely a better comparison to compare Android's ShopSavvy with the iPhone's RedLaser which does basically the same thing? This video is comparing apples to oranges.
