The votes have been checked and re-checked to confirm that the majority of you, the readers of T3, believe that RIM is still yet to catch up with the competition, even with the announcement of the Blackberry OS 6.

The stats from the T3 poll: ‘Will Blackberry OS 6 be worth the wait?’ reveal that 41.5 per cent of you think that the new operating system has caught up to the standards of Apple and Android, but an adamant 28 per cent said ‘No; I would rather have my phone running a rival OS’ and 24.6 per cent still feel that RIM is lagging behind the competition - meaning that the overall vote fell against Blackberry, with 52.6 per cent to a positive 47.4 per cent.

The remainder of the vote was completed by a meagre 5.9 per cent saying that the Blackberry OS was always their favourite.

Despite being one of the stalwarts of the smartphone market, the poll shows that RIM have yet to win over any doubters with their refreshed operating system. The largely negative reaction from the voters may have been reinforced by the delays in release, with Kwame Oppong-Bawuah commenting: “I will really like to wait but is taking forever to come out”.

After Apple’s antenna fiasco, RIM may have hoped to capitalise on those disillusioned with the iPhone, but the negative responses garnered by the poll may indicate a failure on the cards for Blackberry.
