Whistle is a fitness tracker for Fido. Just like a Fitbit the waterproof Bluetooth 4.0 tracker attaches to your dog’s collar and monitors daily activity from walking and running to sleeping and even drinking water. Check their progress on the free Whistle app (iOS), see if they do just pace up and down all day while you’re at work, and discover just how much further than you they really run.

Sony Action Cam
Sony’s compact action cam range will strap to just about any board, helmet or handle bar and take image stabilised FullHD video of all your extreme exploits, but when you’re bored of your own radness, strap it to man’s best friend using the four-point harness and capture a dog's-eye view of the world. What your dog thinks about it is open to debate, but you can’t put a price on a million YouTube hits.
Drop a ball into the iFetch and it will ping it across the room providing hours of stimulation for your dog and considerably more time on the sofa for you. It can be plugged in or use batteries and has three ranges - 10, 20 and 30ft. You’ll need to train your dog to retrieve and drop and not just chew up the tennis balls (it only uses iFetch 44mm tennis balls so stock up) but once he’s got the hang of it you can set it off and forget all about it.
Leuchtie LED Dog Collar
Like a hi-vis jacket for your pup, the 100 per cent waterproof Leuchtie LED collar has a built-in sensor so only lights up when put over the dog’s head, helping to save battery. It’s available in eight sizes ranging from 35-70cm and in seven neon colours.
GPaws Pet Tracker
Like the Whistle and Paw Trax this miniature GPS transceiver monitors your pet’s whereabouts, every five seconds for up to eight hours. It’s doesn’t feature Bluetooth or SMS, so not much use in an emergency, but once you download the data to your desktop via USB the tracker software will use Google Maps to show you precisely where your pet has been.
The hi-tech equivalent to a ball of string for kitty, the FroliCat Bolt shines a laser in a random pattern on the floor giving your natural born killer something other than the local sparrow population or sofa cushions to keep them entertained.
Fit Fur Life Professional Treadmill
Just like us humans, spending a few minutes a day on a treadmill can work wonders for a dog's health, boosting circulation, stamina and muscle tone. This then is the perfect bit of kit if you just can’t be bothered to take your dog for a walk. Originally designed for pet rehabilitation, it is suitable for any size breed from Shih Tzu to massive Mastiffs up to 135kg and can hit a top speed of 20kph.
Eyenimal Cat Video Camera
If you want to know where your cat disappears to for days and need photographic evidence to prove that next door do feed it, you need the Cat Video Cam. Weighing 32g and measuring just 41 x 44mm it’s small enough to hook onto a collar without impeding your cat’s movement. It also has 2m night vision mode, 736 x 480 pixel resolution, microphone, 4GB internal memory and movement sensors which stop recording when your cat goes to sleep.
Automatic Pet Feeder
Take the guilt out of leaving your house pets alone for days on end with this super tech pet feeder. Use the digital timer to programme up to four meal times, fill with kibble and forget about it. A separate ice box helps keep food from going nasty and if you need to appease any more guilt you can record an eight second message for your furry friend so they don’t get lonely. Bless.
Far and away the most impressive over-engineered dog brush you’ll ever find. If your mutt moults handfuls of hair this is an essential buy - 364 fine wire bristles pull loose hair incredibly well while the spring-loaded mechanism ensures it all disappears inside the vacuum. Whether you dog will let you get anywhere near him with a spikey brush attached to a vacuum cleaner is anyone’s guess. Good luck with that.
