MSI Wind laptop review
Small but perfectly formed - the mini-notebook thats designed to impress on the move.
It'd be too easy to say the Wind is an Eee PC with a different badge. After all, it's white, plastic looking and follows the same design ethic. However, get beyond the looks and it's a great machine in its own right.
With a 10 inch screen, it's the largest mini-notebook to date but still manages to weigh in at just 1kg. The larger screen is great for viewing on the move and it allows for a wider keyboard. Like the HP, it's great for typing on and doesn't feel cramped in the slightest, you also get 80GB storage.
Powered by an Intel 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, the Wind one the fastest notebooks out there, although the battery life is one of the worst. Running Windows XP, it loads programs quickly and smoothly. If you find you need extra grunt, there is a Turbo-Boost button - simply press it and it'll overclock the CPU to 1.9GHz.
MSI has stolen a march on the market with the first Atom processor and although we'll see more very soon, this a great mini-notebook PC in its own right.
