The top 6 features to look for in the new Galaxy Book6 Pro
Samsung's laptop is a winner
When Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Book6 Pro, it immediately looked like it might be something of a high watermark for slimline Windows laptops. We’ve since underlined that with our own five-star verdict and platinum award for the laptop, but for those still wondering just what makes the Galaxy Book6 Pro such a winner, it thankfully isn’t too hard to summarise its array of strengths.
Here we’ve broken those strengths down into six key sections, so that you can get a sense of what it brings to the table, from its design right down to the features that make it a joy to use.
Stunning design
First and foremost, the Galaxy Book6 Pro is a gorgeous bit of physical design. Whether you go for the 16-inch or 14-inch version, you’re getting a laptop that beggars belief in terms of slimness and material quality. Where some other brands are committed to laptops of uniform thickness, Samsung has smartly embraced the wedge shape – making the Book6 Pro stunningly thin at its thinnest point.
Crucially, though, Samsung hasn’t just left things at looking nice. The laptop also feels superb in your hands, with a large and satisfying keyboard over a super-big haptic trackpad that glides beautifully. Those haptics are so precise that you’ll never want to go back to a normal one, with palm rejection that works flawlessly.
Raw performance
Samsung is a brand that’s rightly associated with crazy powerful devices (take a look at its Galaxy Ultra smartphones if you need more evidence) – and the Galaxy Book6 Pro fits right into that reputation. You can kit it out at a few levels, but any laptop that can boast an Intel® Core™ Ultra X7 (358H) processor, 32GB RAM, and Intel® Arc B390 graphics is an automatic powerhouse.
It absolutely crushes work tasks of all sorts, but where things really get crazy is when you engage in creative tasks. From video editing to photo processing, these Intel® chips are a ridiculous step up and ensure that you can power through even the most demanding of productivity tasks without much trouble.
AI capabilities
Of course, rare is the modern workflow that doesn’t involve some AI requests and processing. Thankfully, you don’t need to worry on this front. Intel® has (unsurprisingly) ensured that its latest chips are super-potent for AI, and that makes the Galaxy Book6 Pro a great choice for AI.
Whether you’re just using the on-board Copilot+ PC features to get a little more efficient at moving between tasks and programmes, or running local models in a more sophisticated way, the neural processing unit (NPU) of the Intel® chip in your Galaxy Book6 Pro will be the perfect ally.
A display you’ll want to touch
Samsung is a market leader in display technology for good reason – so many other brands use its panels too, after all. Both the 14-inch and 16-inch Galaxy Book6 Pro boast some of its most gorgeous Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels, with full touchscreen capabilities. With refresh rates of 120Hz and 1000-nit HDR brightness, content can look frankly staggering when you get it up on-screen.
If you haven’t used an OLED laptop before, you’re in for a treat, with the trademark inky blacks ensuring that movies, games and videos all look gorgeous. Plus, the utility of a touchscreen experience shouldn’t be overlooked – it can be a game-changer for casual use, making your laptop that much more versatile.
Pure portability
Anyone who’s ever used a gaming laptop will know that powerful hardware can sometimes make for literally heavyweight devices, so it should be a reassurance that the Galaxy Book6 Pro doesn’t suffer from that problem. In fact, it’s beautifully weighted, coming in at 1.24 kg for the 14-inch version and 1.59 kg for the 16-inch equivalent.
This basically means that when you slip it into a backpack or bag for the day, or get it in your luggage for a trip, you won’t be reminded of its presence there every time you go up some steps or take a walk. It’s a proper everyday companion that won’t weigh you down.
Staggering battery life
For us, there’s one more massive factor that influences how a laptop feels to use on a day-to-day basis, and that’s battery life. The best performance in the world isn’t worth much if you can only get it for an hour or two. Samsung sidesteps that sort of issue completely, though, with battery life that might just defy belief.
Thanks to stellar design work and the step-up in efficiency achieved by Intel’s® new chips, you can easily get over a dozen hours of non-stop video streaming without the battery being totally drained (a number we’ve verified with our own testing here at T3). Knock the brightness down a bit, and this can stretch well over 24 hours, meaning your normal work day in Docs and on some video calls is a total non-issue.
Being able to leave the house for some flexible working without even needing to worry about a charger is the stuff that we used to dream of, and with the Galaxy Book6 Pro, it’s a tangible reality.
