Immortalising your favourite moments in photos has long been a staple of travelling. And, nowadays, it’s simpler than ever to document cherished memories with a smartphone in your shorts pocket.
But do you ever come away from a holiday feeling that your snaps didn’t quite do it justice? The sea doesn’t seem as blue, that exotic bird was too far away, and loud fellow tourists were talking in your Instagram story. It’s disappointing for the average holidaymaker – imagine how it feels for those who take travel shots for a living.
Enter: content creator, podcaster, and self-confessed ‘gadget geek’, Jon Devo. T3 invited Jon out to Tiranë, Albania, armed with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. His mission? To test the phone’s mettle and show off the gorgeous city to the best of his ability.
Was Jon ready for the challenge? He says, “I’m really excited to see what this phone can do. Let’s go!”
How were the shots taken on the S25 Ultra?
Climbing the 90-stair Clock Tower, a landmark of Tiranë’s city centre, led to some breathtaking views. At an impressive 35 metres high, this position gave John a chance to put the flagship phone’s lenses to the test.
“The Ultra Wide Lens really came into its own here, and that 10x optical zoom [quality] is no joke. The detail it gives is insane.”
Jon Devo
Samsung didn’t hold back on providing the S25 Ultra with top-of-the-range lenses; it boasts the best specs of the cameras in the S25 series. With a 200-megapixel (MP) main sensor, 50 MP Ultra Wide sensor and Telephoto sensor, you’re looking at elite shots – whether you’re shooting wildlife close-ups or far-off rolling hills.
This quality gets even more exciting with AI-enhanced 100x Space Zoom1 (no, that’s not an accidental zero too many). With in-built AI filling in blurrier details, long-distance shots are remarkably crisp and clear.
How did the video sound on the S25 Ultra?
While exploring Tiranë’s old castle wall, Jon took a quick video for his Instagram story. Although a street performer’s clarinet playing made for atmospheric background noise, it overpowered Jon’s speech a little.
Luckily, the S25 Ultra is equipped with Galaxy AI2 Audio Eraser3. In a few taps, and even fewer seconds, the background sound was automatically identified and removed – leaving Jon's words clear and audible.
“Audio Eraser is a game changer,” says Jon. “While I loved the clarinet playing, listen to how well it cuts out background noise.”
No more re-recording, silent uploads, or shushing your travel partners with this mini sound studio in your pocket.
How easy were the edits on the S25 Ultra?
“Tiranë is such a vibrant city, every street had a unique surprise in store.”
Capturing the city in all its glory was Jon’s top priority. When he was on the go, he appreciated Galaxy AI’s automatic image quality enhancements.
“Scene Optimiser helped to do it justice, automatically tweaking the settings to get those colours just right,” he remarks.
Users can toggle on Scene Optimiser in the S25 Ultra’s settings, which automatically adjusts settings like exposure and contrast when shooting. This means you can spend less time editing after the fact.
For images that do require a bit of tweaking after they’ve been taken, Galaxy AI comes to the rescue. Pesky photobombers disrupting your perfect shot? Simply tap on them and move them around (or better yet, remove them entirely) with Generative Edit4. Rest assured, Galaxy AI knows exactly how to fill in the gaps – so you’d never have known those tourists were there.
With the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, you know that wherever you are, and whatever your photography skills, your captured memories will be as bold and vivid as you when you lived them.
“If you love travel photography, this phone will give you great colour, great details. It’ll definitely help elevate your content.”
