12.3 megapixels and swivelling LCD on board latest Olympus effort.
After teasing it just a few days ago, Olympus has come over all official with its new E-5 DSLR. It’s chock full of top-end specs, but can it compete with a slew of new rivals ahead of the Photokina camera gathering.
On the face of it, yes. There’s 12.3 megapixels baked in, along with an 11 point autofocus system, 720p HD video (although you can only reel off seven minute long movies) and a swivelling LCD with Live View, letting you take shots from any angle.
ISO stretches to an impressive 6,400 and the body is splash and dust proof, so you can bust it out in nasty conditions and still get the pics you want.
However, at €1,699 across the channel, this thing isn’t cheap. And with new rivals by Canon and Nikon looking mighty impressive, you might want to think long and hard before reaching for your wallet.
