QUICK SUMMARY

Form Sleep has launched its GelGrid mattress collection, featuring four cooling mattresses.

With prices starting at $1,549, the Form Sleep GelGrid mattresses feature GelGrid cooling technology to increase and maintain airflow for a cooling night’s sleep.

This year’s summer has been one of the hottest on record. Personally, I love the heat but where I really start to loathe it is when it’s time to go to sleep. Due to some mattress constructions, the material used can trap heat, making you feel hotter during the night – the opposite of what you want when you’re trying to sleep in a heatwave.

A construction that many US mattress brands like Purple and Form Sleep favour for temperature control is a grid format. Grid mattresses don’t get as hot as others as the air channels allow heat to move freely, helping you cool down as you sleep.

Despite being cooler in general, Form Sleep recently introduced its new GelGrid mattresses which take cooling to a whole different level. Featuring four models in the collection – Core, Core Hybrid, Prime and Prime X – the Form Sleep GelGrid mattresses use open-air cooling grid technology to maximise airflow and regulate your temperature.

Alongside its GelGrid technology, the Form Sleep GelGrid mattresses also use Integra-Mesh, an integrated structural layer which provides edge support and motion isolation to keep you undisturbed throughout the night. It also helps reduce grid deformation and delivers pressure relief to the body.

The four mattresses in the GelGrid line-up differ in the amount of cooling and support they provide, as well as firmness levels and inches. As a fan of hybrid mattresses, the Core Hybrid stuck out to me the most with its grid and spring make-up.

With a medium-firm feel, the Core Hybrid is made of five layers. At the top is an AeroWeave cover that is cool on contact which is followed by its cooling combination of GelGrid and Integra-Mesh for temperature control, support and pressure relief. Further down is a CounterFlex layer, its ZoneCoil 7-Series springs and its BaseFlex which provides stability and edge to edge support.

Another highlight from the collection is the Prime X. It has many of the same layers as the other GelGrid mattresses, including the cover, cooling technology, base and springs, but where it stands out is its Talalay latex inclusion.

Talalay – how fun is that to say?! – latex sits just below the cover of the Prime X mattress and it gives a bouncier, more responsive feel. It’s also more breathable so it’s arguably the coolest mattress from Form Sleep’s GelGrid collection.

Prices on the Form Sleep GelGrid mattresses start at $1,549. As of writing, Form Sleep is running its Labor Day sale where you can get up to $400 off its mattress line-up. As you probably guessed as Form Sleep is a US brand, the GelGrid mattresses aren’t available in the UK or Europe.
