Amazon Prime Day 2018 is set to begin at midday on Monday 16 July, with literally millions of deals across TVs, laptops, kitchen wares, cameras, toys and… headphones.

The first 12 deals have just been announced, and they include up to 30% off headphones from Bose, Sennheiser and Sony.

As we wait for Prime 'Day' – it actually starts on Monday at midday and rolls on to midnight on Tuesday night – Amazon has been coyly teasing us with its forthcoming deals, including headphones. You, and we, will have to wait until Monday to actually take advantage of these deals, alas.

Headphone sales are always a big part of Amazon Prime Day, usually with Beats leading the way in terms of mass interest.

However So far, the only confirmed headphone deals are on Bose, Sennheiser and Sony cans. No specific models have been announced but we expect everything from running headphones to affordable on-ear headphones and in-ear buds to premium Bluetooth and noise-cancelling headphones.

Sony, Bose and Sennheiser all have incredibly strong offerings across all of those categories – think Sony's MH-1000XM2, Bose's QC35 mk II and Sennheiser's huge choice of premium cans.

Two headphones that might very well come up on Monday are the original versions of the MH-1000X and QC35. Both lack a few bonus features that are on the updated models, but sound almost identical. So if you can live without Google Assistant (Bose) or the ability to optimise noise cancelling to match the air pressure where you currently are (Sony), these could be excellent options, if they are discounted.

There might even be a smattering of true wireless headphones, too. These have no wires at all, with a bud going into each ear, joined only by the power of Bluetooth – you know, like Apple AirPods. Be careful here, though – first-gen true wireless buds from most brands have 'issues', shall we say. Luckily our list of the best true wireless buds can alert you to which ones are worth shelling out for…
