After last week’s insane UK heatwave, Aldi is helping shoppers prepare for the next one with its new Mini Cooling collection. Launching in the Aldi middle aisle from today, Aldi has announced three new cooling gadgets that start from as little as £6.99!
Last week (22nd - 28th June), the UK was hit by a huge heatwave with temperatures getting as high as 35°. During this time, Amazon’s annual Prime Day sale was taking place but due to the high demand, fans and air conditioners were either out of stock or full price.
An unlikely hero that emerged during this time was Lidl, as the global retailer added a new range of Tronic fans and air conditioners to its stores. Now, Aldi is following in Lidl’s footsteps by launching its own Mini Cooling collection, and it’s done so at the right time as next week is meant to see another heatwave hit the UK.
Available in select Aldi stores, shoppers can find three models – the Portable Air Cooler with LED, the Globe Fan and the Fan with Flexible Tripod.
Priced at £14.99, the Portable Air Cooler with LED actively lowers room temperature, and has a handle so you can easily move it from room to room.
The new Globe Fan at Aldi has multi-direction rotation so it can fully cool the room you’re in. It also has plenty of modes and settings to play with.
For portable use, the Aldi Fan with Flexible Tripod is only £6.99, and can clip onto your desk for easy usage.
Starting with the Portable Air Cooler with LED, this model uses water and ice evaporation technology to lower the temperature in your room. It’s surprisingly compact for an air conditioning-type unit, and has an LED touch display to flick through the three speed settings.
My personal favourite is the Globe Fan. It has a similar look to the Meaco Sefte 8” Portable Air Circulator, but it’s much cheaper at just £39.99. It has a 360° auto-rotating design so it fully covers you and the room you’re in to offer a cooling effect while minimising hot air. It also comes with three modes, including natural wind, sleep and drying.
Last but not least, the Fan with Flexible Tripod has three ‘arms’ that prop up the main fan. It’s small and portable so you can group the ‘arms’ together to use as a handle or prop it on your desk or bedside table for easy use. At £6.99, it’s a bargain and can help with on-the-go relief during the heatwaves.
