This travel gadget goes with me every time I leave home, whether it's one night or weeks
Twelve South scores a hit
Any techie person who travels a lot will know that it takes quite a lot for a device or gadget to break into your travel plans and become a non-negotiable part of your packing list. I have my tech pouch pretty carefully calibrated at this point, and one of the items that's always in it waiting for the next trip comes from TwelveSouth.
It's the Butterfly 2, a two-in-one charger that comes in very handy if, like me, you wear an Apple Watch and travel with a MagSafe-compatible iPhone. If that describes your phone/watch pairing, then you get a MagSafe puck and an Apple Watch charging puck in one cute package.
It's built like a clamshell and you open it when you need to use it, plugging it into a cable and then a power adapter, and while it's far from the cheapest way to charge gadgets while travelling, it's a very elegant solution. Right now, for Prime Day, it's cheaper than usual, too, making this a great time to grab one.
This handy little travel charger is well-made and very cleverly-designed, and I've been using it for around a year very happily. The only issue is that it's quite expensive, making this deal a dream.
If you're interested in a high-quality travel charger, make sure that you check out which colours there are to choose from, not least because some of them don't have quite as generous a discount as others. Most of the normal options you might expect are down to £60, though.
Don't get me wrong, that's still quite a lot to pay for a charger that probably duplicates the capabilities of cables you already own, but my experience is that it's worth it to cut down on packing messy tangles of wires. Having this puck with me alongside a single braided USB-C cable keeps my charging gear way more rationalised.
This deal might not last forever, but should be around for the next few days as Prime Day runs its course. It ends on Friday, though, so you should probably buy it before then if you're interested.
