For the darker days and nights, a SAD lamp can make a world of difference to your overall mental health and physical wellbeing. By simulating sunlight, SAD lamps can help alleviate SAD symptoms, including low mood, irritability and feelings of stress and anxiety.

I’ve covered wellness on T3 for years now, and while I haven’t officially been diagnosed with Seasonal Affective Disorder, I do have anxiety and notice my mood dipping during the winter months. So, when I came across the Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp, I was intrigued to see if it’d help me feel less stressed and improve my mood – here’s how I got on.

Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp review: price and availability

The Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp is available to buy for £47.99 at Amazon and online retailers like StressNoMore. Compared to other SAD lamps on the market, the Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp is one of the more affordable models you can buy.

Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp review: design and features

The Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp has a rectangular panel-like design that measures 15 x 20 x 25cm and weighs 550g. As a corded SAD lamp, it comes with a long cable that plugs into an outlet so it can sit on desks or bedside tables. Its compact size also makes it good for travel so you can use it on-the-go if you need to.

The recommended brightness for a SAD lamp is typically 10,000 lux which is what the Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp provides, and it’s been recommended by the NHS for SAD relief. It also filters out UV light to make it safe and comfortable to use regularly.

The Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp has a lever at the back so you can use it horizontally or vertically. To use it, there’s a button on the top right corner that switches it on, and you can adjust its settings via the touch controls at the bottom.

Considering its simplicity and lightbox style, the Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp has a good amount of options to customise. It has five brightness levels that range from dim to super bright, and two colour temperatures for either warm or cool lighting. It also has 15, 30, 45 and 60 minute timers.

Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp review: performance

The Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp was easy to set up and it fit seamlessly into my morning routine. I placed it on my vanity and typically used it first thing in the morning to get that first burst of sunlight while getting ready for the day.

Considering its simple looks and controls, the Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp has got a good amount of features, and I can’t see what other functions you’d want from it! Its five brightness levels cover all bases – although its brightness level might be a bit too much for sensitive eyes. I liked using the warmer temperature colour as it gave my bedroom more of an ambiance while also giving a good level of brightness.

On mornings where I woke up feeling stressed, I felt that the Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp came in handy. It lifted my mood and made me feel more positive about the day, and excited to get outside into fresh air.

Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp review: verdict

Sometimes, simplicity is best and I definitely feel that way about the Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp. It might look a bit too plain or straightforward from the outset, but it has a variety of brightness, colour and timer options which give a good amount of light to your day.

The Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp helped me with feelings of stress and anxiety, and is an easy fit into your daily routine. Its petite design also makes it a good option for smaller spaces and travel needs, plus at just £47.99, it’s a great budget-friendly option.

Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp review: alternatives to consider

A SAD lamp which has a similar style to the Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp is the Lumie Vitamin L SAD Lamp. It has an A4-size that offers 10,000 lux at 16cm, and has even simpler controls than the Osalis Daylight Therapy Lamp – it just switches on or off.
