BlackBerry Torch 9800 set to illuminate UK in October

Following its global announcement and US release earlier this month, the latest handset to come from RIM, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 has appeared on a number of UK online retail websites with a launch date of this coming October.

The eXpansys website was one of the first to list the BlackBerry Torch 9800, but aimed high with a hefty £569.99 price tag.

However, are offering pre-orders of the new device for a still high SIM-free price of £479.99, down from what it claims will be a £499.99 RRP.

While the BlackBerry Torch failed to wow critics at its unveiling, its label as the first handset to sport the new BlackBerry OS 6 operating system sets it out from the crowd and with an expected October UK arrival will be landing on this side of the Atlantic later than expected.

With such varied prices these online postings of the 5-megapixel touting, full QWERTY slider hosting handset must be taken with a pinch of salt. However, we expect RIM and UK network providers to come out with some official dates and prices in the coming weeks.
