It's a soap to rival Coronation Street, but finally, the Apple Tablet could be ready to make an appearance, if the glut of new detail is to be believed.

According to the Taiwan Economic News, which reports 'industry sources', the new device will pack a 9.6-inch mutlitouch screen, built-in HSDPA connectivity, a long-lasting battery pack and a P.A. Semi processor - a company Apple bought into back in 2008. Price? Well, that's said to be between $799 and $999. Ok, we're not so naive as to think Apple will sell for a direct currency conversion, but as a rough guide, that's between £481 and £601. Although if it's going to be sold subsidised via mobile networks in the UK, it might come in much cheaper than the rumoured price if you sign on that dotted line.

The report goes on to list the component makers, which are DynaPack for the batteries and Wintek for the screens if you're interested, but also offers up a timeline for launch. If all goes to plan, the Apple Tablet (which is likely to be called something different at launch) will be delivered to Apple in December in preparation for a launch in February 2010.

Yes, we've heard it all before, but the report is certainly credible and does have a ring of truth about it. Expect to see a glut of blurry image shots of the Apple Tablet as the year ends - and you might want to think twice before you splash your Christmas money in the January sales.
