Gerald Charles gives its Masterlink watch a gemstone upgrade – and I can’t decide which one I want
Gerald Charles debuts trio of gem-set Masterlink watches

Gerald Charles has debuted a trio of new Masterlink watches, and I can’t decide which one I like the most! Upgrading its iconic Masterlink design, the new timepieces feature stunning, colourful gemstones on the dial and bezel, adding extra colour and sparkle to its classic watch style.
The Masterlink watch is Gerald Charles’ most recognisable watch. It has a 38mm stainless steel case and an integrated bracelet with Gerald Charles’ Maestro ‘smile’ at six o’clock. Based on a square, the Gerald Charles Masterlink has a rounded octagonal shape with a fixed bezel and screw-down crown – see our hands-on with the Gerald Charles Masterlink for more details.
What makes this new trio different from the original Masterlink is its use of gemstones. Available in blue, green or red, each watch uses a different gemstone as the base of its dial, and introduces baguette-cut gems as the hour markers and set into the white gold bezels.
Starting with the blue – which I think is my favourite version – the Gerald Charles Masterlink Gem-Set Stone Dial is made from spectrolite which is a rare form of labradorite. Each stone is unique, but spectrolite typically comes in blue, violet, green and gold hues.
To further capture the blue shade, the Gerald Charles Masterlink Gem-Set Stone Dial features 60 blue sapphires on the bezel. Blue sapphires also represent the hour markers, and the rest of the dial is kept simple with just hour and minute hands to let the gemstone really shine.
The green version of the Gerald Charles Masterlink Gem-Set Stone Dial is made from aventurine. 60 green tsavorites are set into the bezel and on the dial. Finally, the red edition is made from Iron Eye which has layers of red, orange, black and brown colours. The bezel and hour markers are set with red sapphires.
Powered by the GCA1000 manufacture calibre movement, the Gerald Charles Masterlink has a 50 hour power reserve. The movement, including its offset micro-rotor can be seen via the open caseback. Stone dials are a big watch trend for 2026, and Gerald Charles has captured it perfectly with these new launches.
As you can imagine, producing these dials takes a lot of time, as you have to be very specific and delicate when cutting a circular disc from a gemstone. This care and craftsmanship reflects the price and limited availability of the watches, too.
