Dimplex has just launched its new eXtreme Electric Infrared BBQ, and I think it could win over even the most traditional barbecuers. With its generous cooking space and high temperature range, the Dimplex eXtreme Electric Infrared BBQ can cook just about anything – even a full rotisserie chicken.
When I first started testing barbecues for T3, I came up against one major issue – I didn’t have a garden. This was during the pandemic, so it was hard to get outside anyway, but I did have a small balcony which I used to my full advantage.
Despite my small outdoor space, I was pleased that between 2020 - 2022, electric barbecues finally started to get popular, despite barbecue purists' annoyance. One issue some people have with electric barbecues is they can struggle to get really hot which is what you want to get those authentic barbecue flavours and smokiness.
But the Dimplex eXtreme Electric Infrared BBQ seems to have sorted this problem. This compact, portable electric barbecue can reach temperatures over 300°C to get that perfect sear, and its high hood with a warming rack means it gets hot and big enough to cook whole birds and large cuts of meat.
Using infrared technology, the Dimplex eXtreme Electric Infrared BBQ has two 1100W carbon fibre infrared elements which allow it to get up to this high head. It gets up to temperature very quickly, and as there’s no flames involved, it produces less smoke, making it great for smaller gardens, balconies and patios.
