QUICK SUMMARY
Char-Broil has launched the new Griddle 3400, its most versatile griddle yet.
Priced at £449.99, the Char-Broil Griddle 3400 has a large cooking surface with three burners, and you can even cook on it using pots and pans.
The griddle revolution continues! Char-Broil has just debuted its new Griddle 3400, its most versatile griddle to date. Designed to cook any meal you could think of, the Char-Broil Griddle 3400 has a large grill surface made from porcelain-coated cast iron, making it ultra durable and ensuring even heat distribution.
As outdoor kitchens have surged in popularity, griddles have become the fastest growing barbecue trend of 2026. With more and more people wanting to cook outside for breakfast, lunch and dinner, griddles are the go-to way to do that, due to their easy, versatile surfaces that can cook just about anything.
The Char-Broil Griddle 3400 is a perfect example of that, as Char-Broil claims you can use it to cook pancakes, tapas, paella, tacos and more on its durable one-piece grill plate. The surface of the Char-Broil Griddle 3400 is also smooth enough that you could even cook on it using pots and pans.
The Char-Broil Griddle 3400 is powered by gas, but it has an electronic ignition for quick and safe cooking. The grill measures 48cm x 68cm, so it can cook a generous amount of food on it, plus it has stainless steel three burners that distribute heat evenly across the surface.
The design of the Char-Broil Griddle 3400 is much like a barbecue, with a foldable lid, steel cart and swivel wheels. It also offers plenty of preparation and storage space, thanks to its side shelves with hooks and raised bottom shelf.
The Char-Broil Griddle 3400 is available to buy for £449.99 at Char-Broil and select retailers, like Amazon and Argos. Compared to full-sized gas barbecues, this price is pretty affordable – but should you choose a griddle or a barbecue?
Griddles and barbecues are similar pieces of outdoor cooking equipment, but they differ in their cooking surface. Griddles use a large, solid cooking plate that comes in direct contact with your food, while a barbecue has open-grates that allows your food to be cooked directly over smoke or flames.

Depending on your tastes, a griddle is recommended for more ‘delicate’ cooking, similar to that of a frying pan, whereas a barbecue is a lot more intense, giving food a smoky flavour. Personally, I’ve tried both griddles and barbecues, and it all comes down to how much you plan to use them.
If you’re looking to cook all your meals outside rather than using a hob or oven, then a griddle is a great choice. For cooking up a storm on weekends or during the summer, a barbecue will serve you well. If you have the budget, both are an option, too – and the Char-Broil Griddle 3400 would be a great addition to your outdoor kitchen.
