As the iPhone 5 rumours continue to gather momentum, a new video is about to send them into overdrive.
A clip uploaded by a YouTube user which has leaked online appears to show what could be the iPhone 5’s new and improved chassis.
ETradeSupply’s vid appears to confirm rumours that the upcoming Apple handset will sport a uni-body aluminium crust, as well as a 4-inch screen.
You heard right: four whole inches of AMOLED glory. The shell seen in the video appears to be longer than the last-generation iPhone but not wider, news blog 3G reports.
It has long been speculated that Apple will introduce a larger screen on its next-generation handset in a bid to compete with the latest batch of Android handsets, such as the recently released Samsung Galaxy S3, which has a 4.8-inch screen.
And that’s not all, the headphone socket appears to have been moved to the bottom of the handset and the speaker grill is noticeably larger than the one found on the iPhone 4S.
However, the video appears to show something scary – a smaller dock connector, meaning we might need to ditch our old Apple accessories to accommodate the smaller dock connector – or it could simply be that this model could be a very early prototype that just wasn’t up to scratch in terms of measurements.
OR, it could even be that this video is 100 per cent fake and recorded simply to drum up publicity for the ‘user’ that uploaded ito, which appears to be a mobile phone parts seller – but where’s the fun in that?
Eitherway – you can watch the video below to make up your own mind.
iPhone 5: Rumours
As expected we’ve seen a strong batch of iPhone 5 rumours circulate around the web, although Apple is keeping hush about everything until the blower’s official launch date.
The next generation Apple iPhone is expected to land in late 2012, rumours suggest.
Macotakar, the Japanese Apple blog, has received word from a reliable batch of sources (or so we’re told) who claim that the Californian company will be releasing its iPhone 4S follow-up in either September or October this year.
If true, it would coincide with last year’s launch of the iPhone 4S.
Following the launch of the new iPad back in March, rumour has it the iPhone 5 could be called the ‘new iPhone’, keeping it in line with its next generation tablet.
In terms of specs, we could possibly be seeing a gorgeous 4-inch screen on the rumoured device, along with a metal back.
“The new iPhone will indeed be longer and thinner than the iPhone 4 and 4S,” iLounge editor Jeremy Horwitz said.
“Approximate measurements are 125mm by 58.5mm by 7.4mm—a 10mm jump in height, nearly 2mm reduction in thickness, and virtually identical width.”
