It is unclear if the UK will receive the update before or after the US. It could mean that UK owners may have to wait until March before getting their hands on Android 4.4, though we doubt that will be the case.

According to Mackenzie, the Google Play edition of the phone will receive the update in the next 15 days. Developers and unlocked versions of the phone should be able to download it before December.
According to Google, the latest version of its mobile operating system has a much lower memory requirement. This should mean that it runs just as well on low end phones, as it does on high end phones.
Google positioned it as a way to decrease operating system fragmentation. However, it does little to deal with the fragmentation of hundreds of different screen ratios and resolutions.
