If you’re looking for a new, stylish watch we’ve found just the brand for you! Nordgreen is a minimalist watch brand, based in Copenhagen, and, after one of the most successful European Kickstarter Fashion campaigns ever, has launched in the UK.

The brand’s watches embody the Scandinavian style of minimalism, simplicity and functionality. It has set itself apart from other fashion watch brands by working with a famous Danish designer and launching an innovative giving back program.

Here are four reasons you need a Nordgreen watch in your collection:

1. Designed by Jakob Wagner

First of all – you’re going to want to buy a Nordgreen watch because of the way they look – stunning. They’re all inspired by the Danish philosophy “hygge” – a lifestyle that revolves around removing the complexities of modern living and appreciating the little things. Jakob Wagner, one of Scandinavia’s most respected designers, was tasked with translating these values into a range of minimalist watches.

Wagner has over 20 years of experience designing for companies including Bang & Olufsen, Hay, Muuto, and B&B Italia. Everything he creates strikes the perfect balance between minimalism and functionality. I think we can all agree Nordgreen watches are elegant, simple, and timeless, without being bland.

2. Nordgreen give back to the planet (and aims to inspire others to do the same)

Unlike most watch brands, when you buy a watch from Nordgreen you can feel like you’re giving back to the planet, that’s because Nordgreen has a very generous ‘Giving Back Program’, which donates part of the profits to the cause of your choice.

Once you’ve purchased a watch, there is no additional cost to donate – you simply decide where you want part of your purchase to go. At the time of writing, you can choose between; Water for Good, which will provide two months of clean water to a person in The Central African Republic; Pratham UK, which will give two months of education to a child in India; or Cool Earth, which will preserve 200 sq/ft of rain forest in Latin America.

This isn’t just a clever marketing ploy – it’s a strong Danish value to took after the environment, and is even carried over into the design of the watches. For example, the Pioneer represents the Danish philosophy for innovation for mankind (the red tip on the stopwatch represents the red tip at the end of a wind turbine).

3. Really comfortable interchangeable straps

After wearing Nordgreen watches for a while we can certainly attest to how comfortable they are – the leather straps, in particular, are very impressive, but what’s even more impressive is the quick-release system, which lets you quickly and easily swap straps to match your mood (or outfit).

To complement your timepiece, Nordgreen also offers a range of additional straps in a variety of materials including supple leather, vegan leather, elegant stainless steel mesh, lightweight fabric, and sporty rubber.

The vegan leather straps are made from a cotton and polyester blend giving you an excellent faux leather experience. They’re available in black, brown, dove grey, and Navy blue, so you can continue to be trendy and more sustainable!

4. Affordable price

Despite the premium design and environmental programs, Nordgreen’s watches are still priced very attractively. You can expect to pay £144 (US$169) for a 40mm Native model, and up to £229 (US$279) for the Pioneer Chronograph

We think that’s great value, especially considering the quality of the watches and straps.
