Amazon is selling a $70 Switch 2 controller for just $55 in its Cyber Monday sale

The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 is even better than the official Switch 2 Pro Controller

As a professional game reviewer, I need the right tools for the job and when it comes to the Nintendo Switch 2, there's only one controller I now use regularly – and it's not the official Switch 2 Pro Controller.

While Nintendo's own gamepad is great, my favourite controller for Switch 2 is the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Switch edition. It comes with its own charging dock, which can also work as a wireless receiver, and the TMR thumbsticks ensure there will never be any stick drift.

Even better news is that for the remainder of Cyber Monday, Amazon has listed the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 in either black or white for just $55.99 – down from $69.99. That's a very nice 20% off.

You need to be quick though – Amazon's sale ends tonight, so you only have a few hours to get the deal.

The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 is one of the best third-party controllers for the Switch and Switch 2. It works wirelessly over 2.4GHz, but also supports Bluetooth. And it has TMR thumbsticks for more rapid and stable movements.

One thing that's recommended once you receive your Ultimate 2 controller is to update the firmware on it. You can do this by plugging it into a PC or Mac using a USB-C cable and downloading the official update software.

Once installed, run the software and follow the steps to update your controller. This will add the ability to wake your Switch or Switch 2 using the Ultimate 2 (much like an official Nintendo controller).

Everything else should work well with the Nintendo Switch 2.

It's also worth noting that while some other 8BitDo controllers will work with Switch 2 (over Bluetooth), the Ultimate 2 has a Nintendo A,B, X, Y button configuration, so is perfectly suited.
