Why you can trust T3

These days, many of the best smart lights are able to sync up with most entertainment setups, offering ambient lighting that mirrors your movie, music or video game. However, Govee has taken things a bold step further with its latest collaboration with JBL, blending colour, light and audio into a single all-in-one device.
Originally unveiled at CES, the Govee x JBL Table Lamp 2 Pro kept us waiting for a while, but as of last week, it’s officially available to buy in the US. Naturally, I had to put this hybrid gadget to the test, and you'll find my thoughts below.
Govee x JBL Table Lamp 2 Pro review: price and availability
The lamp is priced at $179.99 via Govee’s official website and select retailers like Amazon.
For now, it’s a US exclusive, but Govee has confirmed it’ll be launching in the UK soon. Based on past pricing, expect it to land at around £179.99.
Govee x JBL Table Lamp 2 Pro review: design and features
At first glance, the Table Lamp 2 Pro stands about 10 inches tall with a 6-inch circular base and a striking LED ring that wraps around the top for full 360° illumination. Inside, you’ve got 210 individually addressable RGBICWW LEDs, meaning its lighting effects are up there with the best.
There’s a physical power button on top, as well as capacitive touch zones to adjust volume and cycle through lighting scenes.
It outputs up to 600 lumens with white light temperatures ranging from 2700K to 6500K, making it just as useful for focused work or ambient lighting.
Inside the Govee Home app, you’ll find over 100 preset scenes to play with, or you can build your own using DIY mode. There's also a music sync feature which allows the lamp to react to sound in near real-time, with a latency of just 32 milliseconds. It also acts as a DreamView controller, meaning it can sync up with up to 10 other Govee lights for whole-room coordination.
The Table Lamp 2 Pro connects via both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and is Matter-compatible, meaning it syncs with platforms like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. I found that voice commands and basic controls worked well through Alexa, but the more complex features needed tweaking via the Govee app.
That said, audio is where the JBL collaboration shines. The lamp includes a 10-watt, 2.5-inch JBL-tuned speaker housed in a 500cc sound chamber, offering impressively clear audio with strong vocals.
A built-in 5,200 mAh battery supports roughly 4.5 hours of use at moderate brightness and volume. However, whilst it’s portable, the lamp’s weight and lack of weatherproofing make it more suitable for indoor use.
Govee x JBL Table Lamp 2 Pro review: performance
After a few weeks of testing, it’s safe to say the Govee x JBL Table Lamp 2 Pro is in a league of its own. The visual effects are impressive, and the app offers endless customisation that's easily accessible via the app.
One thing that surprised me most was just how great the speaker sounded, especially at higher volumes. I was actually blown away by how loud it could get without affecting the sound quality, which is a lot more common than you'd think. The lumen output was also really impressive and didn't deteriorate as the battery level got lower, which was great to see.
Design-wise, it’s a bit divisive. It has a modern, slightly futuristic look that didn’t quite fit with my decor. However, my friends loved it during a few get-togethers, and it made a great centrepiece for parties. Whether you like it or not will just depend on your own personal taste.
Another slight letdown is that it's strictly for indoor use, despite being portable. I was disappointed with this, and can't help but think Govee is missing a trick. Hopefully the brand will explore a weatherproof version in the future.
Govee x JBL Table Lamp 2 Pro review: verdict
The Govee x JBL Table Lamp 2 Pro is an all-in-one gadget that does it all. With vibrant, customisable lighting, ultra-responsive music sync and surprisingly rich audio, it’s a standout addition to any smart home setup. Whilst the futuristic design won’t be to everyone’s taste and it's strictly for indoor use, this mood-setting lamp blends sound and light in a way that few others can. If you're after an immersive, multifunctional smart lamp, this one’s tough to beat.
Govee x JBL Table Lamp 2 Pro review: alternatives to consider
If you like the idea of a smart lamp with high-quality sound, but want a different design, check out the Govee Floor Lamp Pro. It brings the same smart audio-sync lighting but in a sleek vertical design with a built-in speaker.
Or, if sound isn’t a must-have, the Nanoleaf x Umbra Cono Portable Lamp is a stylish desk accessory with a playful, premium look – just don’t expect any audio features.
