Xiaomi's new smart washing machine has a clever cleaning feature I've not seen before
It promises a deeper clean with electrolysis technology

Xiaomi has unveiled another smart washing machine, and this one comes with an innovative electrolysis function that's designed to boost cleaning performance, eliminate bacteria and brighten fabrics.
It's available to buy exclusively in China for 2,699 yuan, which is just under £300.
Xiaomi has expanded its laundry lineup with the new Mijia Washing Machine Pro Super Electrolytic Smart Drum 10kg, featuring the brand's innovative electrolysis function. Using a small electrical current to split water into its components, the technology is designed to help eliminate bacteria and enhance fabric brightness.
The brand launched the Mijia Washing Machine Pro Super Electrolytic Smart Wash and Dry in January, which is a more advanced (and bigger) version of this new model. Both models are currently exclusive to China, but Xiaomi already sells washing machines in parts of Europe, so we could still see both or either launch more widely in the future.
The new model is available now in China for 2,699 yuan (just under £300) and we'll be keeping an eye out for any news of an international release.
Alongside the electrolysis technology, the washing machine also has an automatic detergent dosing system. It detects the size of each laundry load and dispenses detergent with an accuracy of 0.75ml, although you can still override the settings if you want to tailor the wash for particularly dirty clothes.
There are plenty of wash programmes to choose from, including a 36-minute deep-clean cycle for heavily soiled items, and a 12-minute quick wash for freshening up lightly worn clothes.
