What is the minimum age to hire a SIXT car?
The minimum age to rent a standard car with SIXT in the UK is 21 for all companies. You must hold a valid UK driving licence for a minimum of one year. Drivers under the age of 25 often pay a young driver surcharge and SIXT restricts premium and luxury vehicles to older drivers. You must be 25 or 30 years old to hire high-end models.
SIXT rent a car good?

How much is the SIXT deposit?
SIXT takes a security deposit on your payment card at the time of collection. For standard car categories, the deposit equals the total rental cost plus £300. For premium and luxury vehicles, the deposit increases to the rental cost plus £500 or £3000. SIXT returns this deposit on the safe return of the vehicle in its original condition.
Is mileage included in the price?
Standard daily and weekly car rentals include unlimited mileage. Long-term rentals and specific premium vehicles feature a strict mileage cap. If you exceed this limit, SIXT charges a fee for every additional mile.
How much is the set mileage fee?
There are different excess mileage fees based on the vehicle category you choose. For UK rentals, the cost ranges from 30p to £1.10 per extra mile you drive over your limit. SIXT prints the exact pence-per-mile rate in the price details of your specific rental agreement.

Pay for the booking in advance
You can cut the cost of your rental by up to 25% when you choose the prepaid option. SIXT offers two payment methods at the online checkout: pay now or pay later. Selecting the pay later option provides flexibility for cancellations, but it increases the final bill. People who commit to their travel dates and pay upfront lock in the lowest possible rates.
Join the loyalty scheme
Drivers can save money by joining the free SIXT Status programme. New members start on the Express tier and collect points on every trip when they rent with SIXT. After completing three rentals in a year, drivers move to the Gold tier to receive a 10% discount on all future bookings. Customers who complete ten rentals reach the Platinum tier which gives a 15% discount and provides a free vehicle upgrade at the rental desk.
Student & key worker discount
NHS staff, emergency service workers, armed forces personnel, and teachers can get up to 15% off their bookings by verifying their work status via the Blue Light Card portal. Also students can get the same 15% saving by verifying their student status through Student Beans or GoCertify.

The SIXT mobile app provides exclusive access to promotions only available via the app. If you book a vehicle through your phone you can find lower rates not available on the desktop website. The app also functions as a digital key for the minute-based SIXT share service and sometimes gives new users vouchers for the SIXT ride taxi and chauffeur services.
Bring your own equipment
Adding extras at the rental desk drives up the total cost of a trip by quite a bit. SIXT charges a daily fee to add a GPS or a child seat to the rental contract. You can keep the rental cost lower by bringing your own child seats or Satnav from home. You can also just use a smartphone map application and a basic dashboard mount.
Avoid airport branches
Collecting a hire car from an airport or a major train station includes a Premium Location Fee. SIXT adds this to the daily rate to cover the high cost of operating in busy transport hubs. Because its percentage based this also increases the cost of all extras you may have added.
Booking the exact same vehicle class for the exact same dates at a standard high-street or industrial estate branch removes this percentage fee entirely, significantly reducing your bill.
