Just hours after the third-generation Apple new iPad hit stores across the globe, jailbreakers have reportedly opened up the iOS 5.1 running tablet.
Having snapped up the latest Apple iPad offering following its eagerly awaited release date yesterday, March 16th, a jailbreaker going by the name ‘MuscleNerd’ has claimed to have jailbroken the iPad 2 replacement with screenshots of his results posted on the web.
Whilst insisting that his efforts still have “lots of work to do” before the jailbreak will be ready for a widespread, online offering, with “no ETA” available for its release, the jailbreaker is the first to have gained the customisable customisable access to the new iPad.
Commenting on the claimed new iPad 3 jailbreak, the Dev-Team blog has suggested the it is “impossible to predict how or when these things turn out” whilst suggesting they are making progress at opening up the recently rolled out iOS 5.1 software.
“We can confirm that the method used to jailbreak the iPad 2 4 months ago (before corona) still works even in 5.1” the Dev-Team blog posting said. “That means we’ll at least be able to get our foot in the door to get the required kernel dumps on the iPad 3. That’s an important step, but by no means is it the end of the story.
