Amazon Prime Day 2018 runs today (Monday July 16) and tomorrow, and snapping up a best-buy TV is one of its main pleasures. There are discounts on all the big brands at Amazon today but the best deals seem to be on Philips TVs
There are 9 TVs from the brand getting cuts – see below – but two leap out. The Philips 55POS9002/05 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD OLED TV is £300 off, making it among the most affordable OLEDs from a top brand ever.
If its pure size you're after, the 65-inch Philips 65PUS7303/12 65-Inch 4K Ultra HD Android Smart TV is now £391 off – at just £909, that's a lot of inches per pound.
Both TVs boast Philips' Ambilight tech, which casts a colourful glow onto your back wall, with the colours complementing the on-screen action. It's really rather wonderful.
The first 25 Prime Day deals were revealed in the run up to APD, but Amazon kept these under its hat until midday today, the sneaky sausages.

You might not see quite as many Philips TVs around as those by LG, Sony, Samsung et al, but they are always highly rated by TV reviewers and those in the know. Ambilight is not just a cool effect, it really can add something to movies and when listening to music through the TV. Philips also uses the same high-quality panels as its rivals, and is noted for the excellence of its image processing. They tend to be very good looking TVs, too.
For Amazon Prime Day there are price cuts on nine models. Our pick of the bunch being 20% off last year's OLED 4K flagship, taking it to just £1,199 – that's a great price for an OLED TV.
There are discounts of up to 30%, on TVs from 40-inch to 65-inch, with the surprisingly elegant 65-Inch Philips 65PUS7303/12 being another standout. It's down from £1,300 to £909, which is a 30% saving, by our calculations.
This OLED model from 2017 still looks great today – OLED panels have not notably improved this year, although there have been further strides in how images are processed. This 4K model does a great job of upscaling HD and presents 4K HDR material beautifully, although the HDR lacks the ultra-zingy brightness of some rivals. The Android smart platform is solid, with all the usual streaming and catchup services catered for. The three-side Ambilight looks suitably stunning, too.View Deal
This 4K UHD TV is LED rather than OLED but with Philips' P5 picture processing engine and Ambilight, it still looks great. Oh, and it's huge at 65 inches across. It utilises the same Android smart platform as the 55POS9002/05. Again, it does an excellent job of upscaling and smoothing out sources with lesser picture quality.View Deal

These are all more affordable models that would make excellent second TVs (or very good first TVs if you're on a budget).
