When it comes to streaming dongles, there are plenty of Amazon Fire TV and Roku devices that come in a convenient, compact stick form but few that run Google TV.

That's where Xiaomi comes in, as it's just released its latest streaming device in the UK and several other regions around the world. The Xiaomi TV Stick HD (2nd Gen) is an entry-level streamer that provides the full Google TV experience, but with Fire TV Stick-like design and price.

Essentially replacing the Mi TV Stick, which ran on Android, this second generation device is HD only. That means it's locked to a maximum of 1080p 60Hz streaming and 5.1 surround with Dolby Audio, DTS:X and DTS HD support. There's no 4K or Dolby Atmos, although you do get HDR 10+.

It should provide a super smooth user experience thanks to running on a quad-core Cortex-A55 processor and 1GB of RAM. There's 8GB of storage on board too, so you can download plenty of apps.

Xiaomi TV Stick HD connectivity specs

Dual-band Wi-Fi is supported for a more stable connection, as well as Bluetooth 5.0. You can link your phone to it, for example, as Google TV supports casting.

The only other connections are the built-in HDMI which plugs straight into the back of your TV, and a Micro USB port for power. You also get a HDMI extension cable that enables connection even if the fit at the back of your TV is too tight for the entire dongle.

The included remote has a button to activate Google Assistant voice control, plus dedicated one-touch buttons for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube. There's a custom button you can assign yourself, too.

As it comes with Google TV installed, all the streaming apps should be supported, as well as hundreds of extra services and games through the Play Store.

Priced at £39.99 from Xiaomi's own website, the Xiaomi TV Stick HD (2nd Gen) is available now. However, if you would rather have 4K video and Dolby Atmos support, there's also a Xiaomi TV Stick 4K (2nd Gen) version available on Amazon right now.

That's priced at £51 at present, with a discount.

Xiaomi has expanded its laundry lineup with the new Mijia Washing Machine Pro Super Electrolytic Smart Drum 10kg, featuring the brand's innovative electrolysis function. Using a small electrical current to split water into its components, the technology is designed to help eliminate bacteria and enhance fabric brightness.

The brand launched the Mijia Washing Machine Pro Super Electrolytic Smart Wash and Dry in January, which is a more advanced (and bigger) version of this new model. Both models are currently exclusive to China, but Xiaomi already sells washing machines in parts of Europe, so we could still see both or either launch more widely in the future.

The new model is available now in China for 2,699 yuan (just under £300) and we'll be keeping an eye out for any news of an international release.

Alongside the electrolysis technology, the washing machine also has an automatic detergent dosing system. It detects the size of each laundry load and dispenses detergent with an accuracy of 0.75ml, although you can still override the settings if you want to tailor the wash for particularly dirty clothes.

There are plenty of wash programmes to choose from, including a 36-minute deep-clean cycle for heavily soiled items, and a 12-minute quick wash for freshening up lightly worn clothes.

Xiaomi has launched a slim new power bank that measures just 1.3cm thick despite its sizeable 10,000mAh battery. That makes the new Xiaomi 10000mAh UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank noticeably thinner than many of the best power banks currently available with the same capacity.

Xiaomi has also improved charging performance compared to some of its previous models. The UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank supports up to 45W wired fast charging through USB-C, whilst wireless charging can reach speeds of up to 20W.

The new model is currently available through Xiaomi Youpin, where it’s priced at CNY 349 – roughly £40 or $51. As with many Xiaomi launches, a wider global release is expected to follow soon.

Despite its slim design, the power bank still supports charging two devices at once thanks to its combination of USB-C and magnetic wireless charging. Xiaomi has also included broad charging protocol support, including PD 3.0, QC 3.0, Apple 2.4A and FCP compatibility.

The launch also follows a growing trend towards ultra-thin portable chargers. Anker recently launched its own slim Nano Power Bank, although that model uses a smaller 5,000mAh battery despite being only slightly thinner.

Xiaomi has quietly listed its new electric toothbrush on its global website, suggesting it’s gearing up for a worldwide launch. The new Xiaomi Mijia Smart Servo-oscillation Electric Toothbrush Pro is the brand’s most advanced model yet, and it introduces a more refined cleaning system built around a servo-oscillation motor that’s said to sweep up to 60° whilst vibrating at the same time.

It’s not the first electric toothbrush we’ve seen from Xiaomi, with models like the Xiaomi Oscillation Electric Toothbrush already available in several regions. However, this new Pro version clearly sits at the top of the range, especially when it comes to cleaning efficiency and smart features.

Pricing and official availability haven’t been confirmed yet, but as mentioned, its appearance on Xiaomi’s global site does strongly suggest a wider rollout is on the way.

One of its standout additions is the integrated colour display on the handle, which provides real-time feedback, highlighting areas that may need another pass and even showing plaque levels. The toothbrush can also connect to Xiaomi’s app to provide personalised brushing reports, whilst also offering vibration alerts if you’re applying too much pressure.

Xiaomi claims the toothbrush can last up to 180 days on a single charge, and a full recharge taking around five hours. It also comes with two brush head options, including a softer bristle variant for sensitive teeth and gums – something you don’t always see included as standard.

Xiaomi has launched its new Mijia Central Air Conditioning Duct-type Unit with Motion-sensing Airflow 4 HP, and features a built-in motion sensor that can automatically adjust its settings depending on who’s in the room.

It features an integrated mmWave sensor, a type of tech we’re seeing more and more in devices from brands like Aqara. This allows the unit to detect human presence with impressive accuracy, meaning it can direct airflow towards or away from people, or even switch itself off entirely when no one is around.

It’s currently available for pre-order in China for CNY 8,999 (roughly £1,100 or $1,300), with no confirmation yet on a wider global release.

As you’d expect from Xiaomi, it also integrated with its wider ecosystem via HyperOS Connect, so users can control it remotely through the app or with voice commands. Features like AI-powered energy-saving modes and real-time energy monitoring are also likely included, providing more insight into how it’s running day to day.

That said, it’s not the most compact option we've seen from the brand, especially when compared to other models released last year. It looks like the panel is built directly into the ceiling duct where the airflow is distributed, whilst a larger unit sits within the room itself to house the sensor. It’s an interesting setup, and whilst the design might not be the most discreet, the built-in motion sensor could very well be something other brands start adopting too.

Xiaomi has launched a new smart curtain opener via crowdfunding, designed to let you open and close your curtains remotely in different ways. The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Curtain 3 Pro succeeds the previous Smart Curtain 2, but this new model comes with dual brushless DC motors that are said to run much more quietly whilst supporting curtains weighing up to 60kg.

Not many brands have ventured into smart curtain openers just yet, with one of the most notable competitors being the SwitchBot Curtain 3. That said, we’re starting to see more brands enter this space, especially as curtain automation is a smart home upgrade that can slot quite easily into an existing ecosystem.

The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Curtain 3 Pro is expected to retail for CNY 999 (around £100 or $140) once the crowdfunding campaign ends. At the moment, it’s unclear whether the device will launch outside of China.

The curtain opener can be controlled through Xiaomi’s app, voice commands, a schedule or a remote control. There’s also a smart wake-up mode that gradually opens your curtains around your chosen wake-up time, whilsr the left and right curtains can be controlled independently.

Within the Xiaomi app, users can set custom open and closed points for each curtain and adjust the opening speed between 10% and 100%. The system runs on a two-layer track with rubber-coated wheels to reduce vibrations, and the device itself is designed to be discreet enough to hide easily.

Xiaomi has unveiled a new air fryer featuring 11 cooking functions, including steaming and sous vide mode. The appliance features an integrated 1.5-litre water tank, positioned on the top of the unit, making it easy to access and refill.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen an air fryer introduce a steaming function, with the Philips Airfryer 5000 Series Air Fryer and Steamer offering something similar. However, the addition of a dedicated sous vide setting is far more unusual, and could hint at a new direction for the best air fryers in general.

The new Mijia Smart Air Fryer Pro Steam & Roast Version 6.5L is currently available exclusively in China through crowdfunding, with an early pledge price of CNY 559 or around $81. It’s expected to retail at CNY 749 (around $109) once officially released, although it’s not yet clear whether the model will launch in other global markets.

The Mijia Smart Air Fryer Pro offers a temperature range between 30°C and 230°C, allowing it to handle everything from low-temperature cooking to high-heat crisping. It also features a 360° hot-air circulation system, designed to distribute heat evenly for more consistent results, and its steaming function can reach 130°C.

Like many of the brand’s smart home devices, the fryer supports Xiaomi HyperOS Connect, meaning it can be monitored and controlled remotely through the Xiaomi app. For those who prefer hands-on adjustments, there’s also a built-in front dial that allows you to tweak settings directly on the appliance.

The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 6 series was revealed during the company’s big keynote presentation at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. This is the sixth generation of Xiaomi scooters, but it’s the first time the range has been so extensive.

Rather than just one or two models, the Series 6 includes five versions, including the Scooter 6 Lite, Scooter 6, Scooter 6 Max and Scooter 6 Pro. The flagship model, though, is the Scooter 6 Ultra. Xiaomi use the Ultra branding for its flagship products in a range of categories from phones to cars, and like the recent Xiaomi SU7 Ultra sports car, the scooter is finished in yellow.

The Ultra is pitched as an off-road scooter and has large all-terrain 12-inch tyres to handle uneven surfaces. However, it outperforms all of the other Scooter Series 6 models in every way. It has a powerful 500W motor that delivers up to 1200W of peak power and can cope with inclines of up to 25%.

The 585Wh battery delivers up to 75km (47 miles) of range, or 55km (34 miles) at its maximum speed of 25km/h or 16mph. There’s also swing arm suspension on both front and rear wheels and disc brakes for safer stopping.

As you might expect from a tech brand, it features a slick 3-inch colour display on the handlebars, to show your speed, riding modes, remaining range and any alerts. It’s also compatible with Apple Find My to precisely track its position in case of theft. There’s also an accompanying app to adjust the settings, view real-time data and lock the motor.

Also on the handlebars, there’s a four-way control dial to adjust the driving mode, turn on the lights and activate the indicators. The throttle has a dual option of either a twist or thumb control on the right-hand side.

For easier travel, storage, or charging, you can fold down the steering column. However, at nearly 34kg, it’s not a scooter you’d want to carry far.

I took the Scooter 6 Ultra on a trail along the coast of Barcelona, using a mixture of cycle paths, roads and tracks. As the use of private electric scooters on public land is still illegal in the UK, it’s difficult to find somewhere to properly test it nearby, but it is available to buy in the UK through the Xiaomi store.

The 6 ultra looks great in person, and the yellow finish really stands out – you wouldn’t mistake it for another boring hire scooter. It has a nice, wide footplate and feels solid when you’re standing on it. I was really impressed by the suspension, as it had a lot of give, and the tyres felt nice and grippy.

In most countries, scooters are limited to a maximum of 25km/h or 16 mph, so although the top speed of the Ultra seems low compared to some of its competition, it’s as fast as you should be going, really – and it gets there pretty fast. In sport mode, a solid press of the throttle catapults you forward at pace, and you really need to hold on. It’s not quite the wheel-spinning power of the Segway GT3 Pro, but it still feels fast.

The scooter is pretty agile, even at slower speeds, letting me make tight turns and navigate tricky crossings. While it was good on most surfaces, it did struggle when I hit loose sand, though I’m not sure any scooter could have coped with that terrain any better.

Xiaomi has form for producing well-specced products at extremely competitive prices, and the Scooter 6 Ultra is no exception. It’s a lot of scooter for money, certainly, and is cheaper than flagship options from Segway and Apollo.

If you’re willing to sacrifice a little of the range and accept a smaller tyre size, the Segway ZT3 and Apollo Explore 2.0 are slightly cheaper options. However, Xiaomi also offers the Scooter 6 Max, which undercuts them all while only losing a little power. It’s also not yellow, should you want something more subtle.

In general, though, the Xiaomi Scooter 6 Ultra is a truly impressive electric scooter. I only wish I could use one as my daily commuter in the UK.

Xiaomi is a disrupter brand, well known for its phones, tablets, robot vacuum cleaners and a certain car. We can now add Xiaomi TVs to the list, with the company making an entrance into the UK in late 2025.

To make this debut, the Xiaomi TV F series comes in two guises: the regular and the QLED "Pro" model on review here. This is a TV that's designed for affordability and runs Fire TV for a completely connected experience.

Is Xiaomi going to make its mark against the best TVs or is this just another cheap TV model that you can ignore? I've been living with one to find out.

Price & Availability

The Xiaomi TV F Pro retails for £499 for the 65-inch version, although the Xiaomi website has that listed as a discount from £629. It's also available from Amazon, and it has been down to £469 in the past.

The F Pro is available from 32-inch all the way up to 75-inch, with the 55-inch model costing £349. On paper that's competitive pricing compared to the Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED, which is double the price – although there's a performance difference between these two TVs.

Xiaomi TV F Pro vs Xiaomi TV F: What's the difference?

• QLED display
• HDR10+ support

The difference between the two different models of TV comes down the display type, with the F Pro offering a QLED panel, while the normal F model is a standard LED panel. That means richer colours for better looking visuals on the Xiaomi TV F Pro.

The only other real difference is that the F Pro supports the HDR10+ high dynamic range type, while the regular F only supports basic HDR10.

There's also a Common Interface slot on the F Pro, which isn't listed for the F, although that probably won't make a difference to most buyers.

And that's it! Both models of Xiaomi TV fall into the affordable category, but the Pro is definitely the one to choose to push the picture quality a little higher.

Design

There's a clash of worlds in the Xiaomi TV F Pro. The set itself has a design that's surprisingly close to the Amazon Fire TV Omni models, with a frameless look to the screen, with a wider border running across the bottom.

While there's an on-screen border around the visible area of the screen itself, thankfully that minimal frame gives the TV a premium look. This telly is not especially thin, thicker towards the base where there's additional space to house the downfiring speakers. It's a common design for TVs.

The feet posed something of a problem for me, though. For the 65-inch model on review they are set quite far apart, so I struggled to fit it onto my normal TV stand. That's a consideration for anyone looking to place this TV on an existing stand – you'll need to measure the distance to make sure it will fit.

For those considering wall-mounting that might not be a problem, just be aware that because of this TV's bulk, it won't sit too close to the wall once installed.

The remote is long and slim and feels exceptionally lightweight, meaning it feels cheap in the hand. It's well appointed with buttons, however, with direct numbers for TV channels, shortcuts to major streaming services and other pertinent controls –including a mic button for firing up Amazon Alexa.

There isn't a settings button, but like all Fire TV remotes, a long press on the home button will pop-up a quick menu to make adjustments to things like the picture settings. It's a Bluetooth remote with no IR, so you don't need line of sight to use it.

Picture Quality

• 4K resolution
• Direct-lit LED screen
• HDR10+ and HLG support

The Xiaomi TV F Pro is a direct LED panel with vertical alignment (VA) of pixels, designed to boost the contrast and black levels, but narrowing the viewing angles a little.

This is topped with a Quantum Dot (QD) layer to boost colours – which is what makes it a 'QLED' type. I can't compare it to the version without, but QD layers are now becoming common right down to entry-level televisions.

There's a glossy finish to the display and it's not great at cutting out reflections, so will suffer under lights and when close to windows. While this is an HDR TV, it doesn't have huge brightness like Mini-LED rivals to cut through reflections in bright conditions. That also limits the drama of HDR scenes: HDR10+ and HLG are supported, but there's no Dolby Vision on this TV.

Xiaomi doesn't add any of its own controls, which is a common move from other brands using a platform like Fire TV (for example Panasonic), but that's not unusual given the entry-level positioning of this TV. There's a full selection of modes – including Filmmaker Mode – which is an interesting starting point.

In Standard mode, things are heavily sharpened and cool, looking a little too contrasty, with all the processing turned on. Filmmaker Mode (FMM) by contrast – which is designed to be "as the director intended" and free from processing – is noticeably softer, to the extent that some detail vanishes into the background. I found that background textures in Knives Out: Glass Onion vanished in FMM.

I also found that Filmmaker Mode had surprisingly light letterboxing on 21:9 content, because it's not dimming those areas independently. This was really obvious on the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Ultra HD Blu-ray that I watched. The lack of contrast in the picture is also being reflected in the letterboxing, which looks strange – and means that Filmmaker Mode generally isn't nice to watch.

Movie offers a good compromise, applying some sharpening without going too far and restoring contrast to make those bars darker, a halfway house between FMM and Standard. Importantly, every mode can be tweaked in the advanced settings, except for FMM. If you don't like the warmer tone of Movie this can be set to standard, while I also bumped the Motion Processing to "low" to remove some of the judder.

Remember that these changes can be made for both HDR and SDR (standard dynamic range) and it's worth going through the process to get a picture you're happy with– because out of the box it benefits from tweaking.

That quality applies to watching Freely TV channels: Standard is far too processed, so I used Movie mode with the white balance set to "Standard" and found the textures and colours were significantly better than the default mode.

Much of this reflects the Xiaomi TV F Pro's position as a TV at the affordable end of the scale. This TV isn't going to get close to the performance of a Mini-LED set with higher brightness and wider dimming control.

It's also a 60Hz screen, but there's a DLG 120Hz mode to increase the smoothness for console gamers. This halves the resolution to increase the refresh rate, so images will appear softer. It's no substitute for a native 120Hz panel, but it might serve some gamers.

There are three HDMI ports, with ALLM supported, and eARC offered too.

Sound Quality

• 20W speakers
• Dolby Audio
• DTS-X and DTS Virtual support

There's a pair of 10W speakers on the Xiaomi TV F Pro, which are downfiring. There's also support for DTS-X and DTS-Virtual, and Dolby Audio. You won't be surprised to find that DTS-X doesn't bring any increase in immersion, because this TV doesn't have the speakers to make that happen.

The sound can be tweaked a little, with a few sound modes governed by a equaliser (EQ). Flicking through each mode will show how the EQ changes to guide you to make further tweaks if you want them. However, the biggest tweak would be to add a soundbar – even something affordable like the Amazon Fire TV Soundbar or Fire TV Soundbar Plus would be better.

User Interface (UI)

• Fire TV
• Freely

Xiaomi has turned to Fire TV for the Xiaomi TV F Pro, meaning there's a familiar interface that's fully connected and offering a full range of streaming services and apps. It has boosted the offering by supporting Freely in the UK, the service that allows live broadcasts over the internet, so there's no need for an aerial to be connected.

First and foremost, that makes positioning the TV easy, because you just need a plug socket and decent Wi-Fi. Freely isn't as fast as using a traditional tuner, with a little more of a delay when changing channels or when opening the guide. But I found it to be smooth enough when watching channels like BBC 1 and ITV.

Back to Fire TV, which integrates into Alexa, so there's voice searching via the remote to make finding content or opening apps really easy. Alexa, of course, can be used for other information and supports requests such as asking about the weather or controlling smart home devices.

This isn't the best implementation of Fire TV that I've seen – it's not as good as the Panasonic Z95B, for example – because the TV doesn't have the same level of power. It can be a little slow as a result, occasionally leading me to press the home button a couple of times before it seemed to respond.

That's perhaps expected on a TV that gives you a lot for a low price, and with the cash you save you might just have to have a little more patience with the user interface.

Xiaomi TV F Pro 2026 review: Verdict

The Xiaomi TV F Pro offers good value for money, while presenting a fully-connected experience and offering a 4K HDR display. Some key specs are lacking at this price, such as Dolby Vision, while this screen doesn't have the brightness to cut through reflections or to really punch out high dynamic range content with conviction.

While the picture is reasonable, it can't compete with TVs that are just a little more expensive. At full price, I'd say that this TV under-delivers on the expected quality. However, the reduction to £499 for the 65-inch model is a lot of TV for the money, but there's serious competition from the similarly-specced Samsung U8000F or TCL T6C.

Also consider

The Samsung U8000F sits in the same space as the Xiaomi TV F Pro, but doesn't have a Quantum Dot layer. It's a little cheaper, runs on Samsung's Tizen OS and supports HDR10+. It doesn't have Freely, however, so it's less convenient, while otherwise offering an experience that's much the same.

TCL has emerged as one of the biggest brands in television, with TVs like TCL T6C demonstrating why. This TV has a more advanced HVA panel, so offers better contrast and black performance, while also supporting Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. However, its speakers lack oomph to really deliver that immersive sound. It also has Fire TV and Freely, so it's really convenient for connectivity too.

It's that time of year again when mobile phone companies head to Barcelona to show their new devices for the first half of 2026. Mobile World Congress 2026 has opened its doors and we've already been treated to some major launches.

The world's biggest phone show is running from 2 to 5 March and T3 is there now to check out the best and hottest products. That includes new handsets, concepts and even a robot helper or two.

Hello from MWC 2026

After a weekend of press conferences, Mobile World Congress 2026 is fully underway. The doors have opened at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona and T3 is on the ground to report live on the biggest phone launches.

I'm news editor Rik Henderson and I'll be kicking us off shortly with some pictures and device details you won't want to miss.

New Nothing Phone (4a) colour revealed

It's hardly a secret, but Nothing has shown a new colour for its forthcoming mid-range phone due to launch later this week.

We've previously seen a pink version of the Nothing Phone (4a), which was officially revealed last week, but the blue model is new – and we spotted it on Nothing's stand at MWC.

Few other official details have been revealed so far, although leaks suggest the phone will start at €349 (likely £349 in the UK). It is said to be coming with a 6.78-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor inside. We also expect to see a Pro model launch on 5 March, but there hasn't been a peek of that yet.

Lenovo wants Wall-E to watch you work

Whether it's CES, IFA or, in this case, MWC, Lenovo loves to debut a concept device. And this time it's something that's 90% cute and useful, 10% creepy.

The Lenovo AI Workmate Concept is an AI-powered, motorised robot arm that sits on your desktop and helps with everyday work tasks.

It is packed with sensors and can project interactive notifications and tools onto your desk. It also has a boggly pair of eyes to give it some character.

There's no word yet on whether the Workmate might become a consumer product (or how much it might cost) but it takes the Amazon Echo idea several steps further into science fiction.

Now that's what I call a camera phone

The Vivo X300 Ultra has been unveiled at MWC and promises to go further with phone photography than rival flagships from the likes of Samsung and Apple.

That's because, as well as a 200-megapixel sensor, when it fully launches later this year, there'll be pro-grade camera accessories available too – including a full camera rig.

We should hear more about the new phone in the coming months.

It's not just phones, you know!

There are always a few surprises during MWC, as evidenced by smart home brand Eufy.

Rather than a phone, table or wearable, it's used the show to launch a new robot lawnmower – the Eufy C15.

Using wire-free navigation, the C15 can zip around your lawn without the need for a physical boundary. It can mow an area of up to 500 m² and will start at €899 when it's available in the coming few months.

Apple arrives to spoil the party

While Apple hasn't attended MWC for many years, it does traditionally like to disrupt proceedings with an announcement of its own – or two.

This year promises to be its biggest lineup of new product launches yet, with two already unveiled – the iPhone 17e and iPad Air M4.

The new iPad comes in 11- and 13-inch screen sizes and has significant performance boosts, thanks to the M4 silicon and 12GB of RAM. While the new iPhone finally brings the A19 mobile chip to entry-level.

5G or not 5G is no longer the question... it's 6G now!

While we're still waiting for 5G coverage to be universal and stable (in the UK, at least), Qualcomm has turned its attention onto next-gen communications technology.

Yep, 6G is already being discussed in the halls of MWC and it'll come as no surprise that AI will be part of its makeup.

Indeed, AI could be the most significant factor as 6G won't really be about faster speeds, but data management – and more intelligent systems will need to be developed to ensure capacity can meet demand.

These are very early days, but we'll undoubtedly hear a lot more about 6G in the years to come.

You've got the whole World (Cup) in your hands

Motorola is the official phone brand of the FIFA World Cup 2026, to be held in the USA, Mexico and Canada this summer, and as well as a special edition of its Razr flip phone, the manufacturer is making two other licensed devices.

That includes World Cup-themed versions of the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion and the Motorola Razr Fold – both of which making their full, detailed debuts during MWC.

There's official branding on the phones, plus UI customisations and exclusive design elements.

It's all about the robots

As at CES in January, robots are gaining a lot of attention during MWC.

We've had the Lenovo AI Workmate Concept (as mentioned in this feed earlier) and a robot lawn mower, but Honor's Robot Phone is arguably the weirdest of them all.

First teased during CES, the phone comes with a miniature robot arm in control of the camera. And perhaps the most interesting thing is that the device will actually be available for consumers later this year.

You (don't) crease me up

Although it's yet to release full details, Oppo has reportedly shown the Find N6 to select press members behind closed doors. And the big deal about this foldable phone is it has barely any crease.

The teaser video for the device has leaked, which gives you an idea of what to expect. We also hope to get our own hands on it in the next few days.

MWC 2026 – day two

Hi, it's news editor Rik here again and we're back at the show this morning to hunt down some of the phones and devices that have so far eluded us.

Day one was an interesting one, not least for Qualcomm waxing lyrical about the future of wireless communications and Nothing cheekily showing its Phone (4a) before this Thursday's launch.

Samsung exclusives

Although Samsung held its own event before MWC, where it launched the new Samsung Galaxy S26 series phones and Galaxy Buds 4 and 4 Pro in-ears, the company still has a stand at MWC.

It's also where we've had a chance to see a couple of Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra colour options that are exclusive to Samsung.com. You can see exactly what the Silver Shadow and Pink Gold models look like in our picture above.

Build your own phone

Like Lenovo, Chinese manufacturer Tecno likes to use trade shows to demonstrate proof of concept devices, alongside some of its more regular phones.

This year, it has debuted its modular phone concept, which allows you to magnetically attach all manner of accessories and add-ons, include a full camera shell. There are game controllers and battery extenders too.

It's best shown in influencer Abhishek Bhatnagar's video, as posted on X. You can see the sort of crazy customisable contraptions you could create.

Robot responses

I reported yesterday on the Honor Robot Phone, which will be released as a full consumer product later this year, but now we have more on it.

That's because T3's tech writer Max Freeman-Mills managed to get up close with the innovative device. It even waved back at him when he waved in its direction.

The camera unit can also respond to questions and even dance along with music. Neat.

We're all ears

You don't see as many other types of tech at Mobile World Congress these days (it used to be swimming in smartwatches, for example), but Anker has launched a pair of headphones during the show to keep things interesting.

The Soundcore Space 2 have Hi-Res certification and LDAC support, as well as up to 70 hours of battery life. You even get 50 hours with ANC switched on.

What's more, they are very reasonably priced at £129.99 / $129.99 / €129.99.

Xiaomi has kicked off the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with a big launch event, including three new premium handsets. It saw the launch of the Xiaomi 17, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and a special Leica Leitzphone version.

While Xiaomi has partnered with Leica for previous generations of its flagship phones, this year sees an expansion of the relationship and for the first time, a dedicated Leica version.

In addition to the phones, Xiaomi also revealed its latest flagship tablet, the Xiaomi Pad 8, and a selection of connected products, from the Xiaomi Watch 5 and Xiaomi Scooter 6 series.

Not forgetting its vehicle tech, Xiaomi also announced a hypercar concept for Gran Turismo, the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo, which will be added to the game in the coming weeks.

Xiaomi 17

While previously announced in China, the Xiaomi 17 was revealed for the European market and will be coming to the UK, priced from £899 and €999 in Europe. It uses the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and has a huge 6330mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The phone features a 6.3-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and runs HyperOS 3, based on Android 16. On the camera side, it features a triple array on the rear, with a 50MP Leica main camera, a 50MP Leica telephoto, with 60mm equivalent, and a 50MP Leica ultra-wide camera. There's also a 50MP autofocusing camera on the front for selfies.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra

The European version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is priced from £1299 / €1499 and has a different spec to the Chinese version launched earlier this year but really ramps things up for photographers. The highlight is the Leica 200MP 75-100mm telephoto and 1-inch ultra dynamic camera that offers camera-beating specs.

This new handset has a larger 6.9-inch Hyper RGB OLED display with 120Hz variable refresh rate, 3500 nits peak brightness, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. The phone runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and has a 6000mAh battery, with 90W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless charging.

The rear camera array is a triple affair, including 50MP ultrawide, a 200MP mechanical optical zoom, adjusting from 75mm to 100mm (3.2x to 4.3x), and a 50MP 1-inch sensor main camera. These are all Leica Summilux optical lenses. There's also a 50MP front camera.

Leica Leitzphone

To mark Leica's 100th anniversary, the Leitzphone is a unique version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra that features a Leica Camera Ring around the camera array that can control zoom, exposure and more, to feel like a traditional camera operation.

There's also a Leica-tuned interface to the camera functions with a mix of professional features and easy style modes to mimic classic Leica styles. The model comes in just the 1TB storage version and is priced £1699. / €1999.

Xiaomi Electric Scooter Series 6

Xiaomi has released a whole series of electric scooters this year as its sixth-generation models. The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 6 Ultra is the flagship model starting, followed by the 6 Max, 6 Pro, 6 and 6 Lite.

Connected devices

With a full assortment of products, from the Pad 8 Pro to the Xiaomi Watch 5, these new devices are both competitive in price and in features.

The latest Watch 5 features a 1.54-inch display with double-sided sapphire glass and a stainless steel frame. It runs on Wear OS by Google to work with all Android devices. It also features Google Gemini for AI assistance and new gesture controls.

A new UltraThin magnetic power bank has a 5000mAh capacity with 15W wireless charging and 22.5W USB-C charging, and can charge two devices at once.

The Xiaomi Tag supports both Google and Apple Find My systems to allow you to track all of your belongings, no matter which platform you use. And finally, the Redmi Buds 8 Pro offer smart noise cancellation and up to 33 hours of battery.

Vehicle tech

Completing Xiaomi's Human, Car, Home ecosystem, a new concept Xiaomi car will be joining the vision lineup on Gran Turismo. This car is a hypercar designed from a tech perspective. It is engineered to efficiently manage airflow, with a boat-like rear and a teardrop side profile. Even the Xiaomi halo tail light has an active wake system to guide the airflow and reduce drag.

It's an impressive-looking car with a drag coefficient of 0.29, 4.1 aerodynamic efficiency and a -1.2 downforce. Inside the car, it provides a cockpit experience that blends comfort and performance. The Xiaomi intelligence assistant wraps around the dash, while the steer-by-wire egg-shaped steering wheel features a built-in screen that looks like a gaming wheel.

There's also a drive simulator that you can put in your home that mirrors the interior of this Vision hypercar cockpit.

Whenever a smart home gadget is as easy to install as it is to use, you know it gets an immediate big tick from me. That’s why Aqara’s smart radiator thermostat is one of my favourites, and why Xiaomi’s new smart lock is shaping up to be one too.

The Xiaomi Self-Install Smart Lock (model BHR07XDGL) is designed to work with your existing lock, so you don’t need to remove your old one. It can house a physical key or door knob and automatically turns them when the device is unlocked, making installation super straightforward.

It’s available to buy on Xiaomi’s online store in Spain for $139.99, but it's unclear when it will arrive in other European countries. However, support pages on the brand’s site in the UK and Italy suggest it won't be too long before it does.

This launch follows Xiaomi’s Smart Door Lock M40 Pro, which offers 12 unlocking methods including palm vein and fingerprint recognition – though that model is exclusive to China. The self-install model being available elsewhere is a welcome addition.

The lock also comes with handy features like anti-tamper alerts, automatic locking and Matter support, so it should integrate easily with a variety of smart home ecosystems.

Xiaomi – a brand I didn’t expect to see making coffee machines – has just quietly launched its new espresso maker. At just 14cm wide, the Xiaomi Mijia Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine can fit into the smallest of spaces, and it’s pretty affordable, too.

When I was at university, I survived on a lot of coffee to get me through long nights of studying. I even had a pod coffee machine in my room for late-night caffeine hits, although it took up quite a lot of room as pod makers were a lot chunkier back then – wow, that sounds old.

So, when I saw the new Xiaomi Mijia and how compact it was, it definitely made me wish it had been around when I was in my university room. As mentioned, the Xiaomi Mijia has a 14cm width, making it extremely slim so it can fit into small spaces in your kitchen, on your desk and even in dorms.

Made from stainless steel, the Xiaomi Mijia has a touchscreen for quick and easy controls that make single or double espresso servings. Despite its slim design and simple screen, the Xiaomi Mijia is packed full of coffee-making expertise, including 20 bar pump to extract the full flavour of coffee beans.

While it doesn’t have a built-in grinder, the Xiaomi Mijia uses pre-infusion technology to evenly soak the ground coffee puck within the portafilter to draw out the flavour. It has precise temperature control to make the right strength espresso for each cup without it being too watery or weak.

Despite its lack of bean grinder, the Xiaomi Mijia does have a built-in steam wand, so you can turn your espresso drinks into milky coffees, like lattes and cappuccinos. The steam wand expertly heats and froths milk, and has a flexible design so you can rotate it out and around the coffee machine.

The size of the Xiaomi Mijia isn’t the only thing that’s small either. The new Xiaomi Mijia Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine is extremely budget-friendly and is available to buy for £92.99 at Xiaomi.

Xiaomi has launched its new Mijia Refrigerator Cross Door 502L smart fridge across multiple European countries, after first debuting late last year. It’s looks to be one of the brand’s most premium smart fridges to date, boasting a mix of features that put it a step ahead of many competitors in this price bracket.

The 502L model follows the Mijia Refrigerator Pro 560L, which launched in China back in December. The two are fairly similar in terms of features, but the Pro version is larger and offers more storage zones – and, importantly, isn’t available in Europe at all.

Pricing starts at £799/€849 via Xiaomi’s online store, although it’s currently discounted thanks to an introductory launch offer.

In terms of layout, the fridge is split into three main storage areas, including a 297-litre fridge compartment, a 176-litre freezer, and a 29-litre iFresh convertible zone. That iFresh section can run independently from the rest of the fridge, with temperatures adjustable between -1°C and 5°C.

There’s also an antibacterial silver ion module designed to reduce odours and help keep food fresher for longer, alongside three cooling modes – Auto, Super Cool and Super Freeze.

As you’d expect from Xiaomi, you can adjust temperatures, switch modes and receive updates via the Xiaomi app. You’ll also get alerts if the fridge door is left open for more than two minutes, and it supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Xiaomi has just launched a brand new air fryer, and it’s shaping up to be a strong contender amongst the best air fryers. The new Xiaomi Smart Double Stack Air Fryer increases the capacity thanks to its clever stacked design, offering a generous 12 litres split across two vertically stacked baskets.

There are 14 preset cooking modes, all controlled via the colour LCD touchscreen on the front, and you can also connect it to the Xiaomi Home app. From there, you’ll find guided recipes, a drying mode and the option to schedule cooking up to 24 hours in advance.

It’s currently available on Xioami's online store in selected European countries for €199.99. There’s no confirmed UK launch date just yet, but the product listing is already live, and given that most of Xiaomi’s other air fryers are sold in the UK, it should follow suit.

The Smart Double Stack Air Fryer has a maximum output of 2,800W, with hot air circulating evenly around both baskets. Temperatures can be set anywhere between 40 and 230°C, and you can either cook different foods at different settings or sync both baskets at the touch of a button.

Despite its larger capacity, the design is surprisingly compact at 520 x 335 x 457mm, making it 35% smaller horizontally than Xiaomi’s Dual Zone Air Fryer 10L. The baskets and accessories are also dishwasher-safe, which is always great to see.

The first time it happened, I assumed it was a one-off. I stepped out into the winter cold, something we know all too well in England, tapped Start on my run, and my smartwatch immediately lost the plot.

My apparent heart rate spiked when I was barely moving, then flatlined, then snapped back to something believable.

GPS wasn’t much better; my pace seemingly lurched up and down, and the route map looked like I’d been zig-zagging.

After a few repeats, it clicked: it wasn’t my fitness or some strange health issue, but the icy conditions.

Cold weather can trip up wrist-based heart rate sensors, and it can make GPS tracking feel less consistent if you rush the start.

The good news? I fixed it with a handful of simple changes and now get accurate readings no matter when I choose to run, walk, or jog.

Why cold smartwatches struggle

Once I stopped questioning my fitness, the pattern made sense. Wrist-based heart rate tracking is optical, relying on getting a clean read of blood flow close to your skin.

In the cold, your body naturally prioritises keeping your core warm, which can reduce circulation in your extremities and make that optical signal noisier and easier to misread.

That’s when you see weird spikes, drop-outs, or a watch “locking on” to something else rhythmic, like your cadence. In simple terms, it's not you, it's the smartwatch.

GPS can feel similarly flaky if you rush the start. Should you begin moving before the watch has a solid satellite lock (something that's very easy to do when you just want to get going), early pacing and the track line can wobble while it catches up.

And, on top of that, manufacturers explicitly note wearable devices have recommended operating temperature ranges, which is worth bearing in mind for proper winter sessions.

Fix 1: Warm the sensor before starting

The biggest change I made was also the easiest. I stopped asking the watch to do its most delicate sensing while my wrists were cold.

If I stepped straight into the cold and immediately started an activity, that was when I’d get the most chaotic heart rate readings. Now, I give myself a few minutes to warm up before I even think about tracking anything.

In practice, that means I’ll walk briskly for five minutes or simply keep my watch tucked under my sleeve until I’m ready to move.

Once my skin’s warmed up a bit, blood flow is more consistent, and the sensor has an easier job, while the heart rate line stops doing that annoying spike-and-drop routine.

Fix 2: Wear your watch properly

The second fix was realising I’d been wearing my watch the “everyday” way, even when the conditions weren’t everyday.

In summer, a slightly looser strap and a lower wrist position can still give you decent results. In the cold, that same setup is basically inviting light leak, movement, and patchy contact.

Now, when it’s cold, I wear the watch a touch higher up my arm, away from the wrist bone, and I tighten the strap so it’s snug without feeling restrictive.

The goal is to have consistent contact. If the sensor is bouncing, twisting, or letting light in, you’re more likely to see those random spikes or drop-outs.

The other winter tweak is layering. If I’m wearing long sleeves, I’ll keep the watch under my cuff so it sits in a warmer pocket of air, rather than exposed to the wind, which might sound obvious but makes a big difference.

Fix 3: Switch to an external heart rate sensor

If the warm-up tweaks help but you still see dodgy readings in the cold, the next step is to stop asking your watch to do everything from your wrist.

For training days where accuracy matters, you can pair your watch with an external heart rate monitor.

A chest strap like the Garmin HRM-Pro is still the most dependable option, because it isn’t trying to interpret blood-flow changes at the surface of your skin, so it’s far less affected by icy hands or the watch moving around.

If you hate the idea of a chest strap, there’s a solid middle ground: an armband-style sensor like the Polar Verity Sense worn higher up the arm.

Fix 4: GPS reliability tweaks that actually help

The quickest GPS win is simply giving your smartwatch a moment to do its thing before you move. Most sports watches will show some kind of GPS indicator – wait until that’s settled, then hit Start.

Additionally, if your watch offers a more advanced GPS mode – usually labelled something like dual-frequency or multi-band – it’s designed to improve consistency in tougher environments, like in tunnels and around cities.

The trade-off is battery life, so you don’t need it for every walk, but it’s worth switching on for sessions where you care about pace accuracy, or you know your route is a bit of a GPS nightmare. Two other quick checks: avoid aggressive power-saving modes during tracked workouts, and try to start in an open area if you can.

Anything else I need to know?

In cold weather, smartwatches aren’t suddenly “bad”: they’re just dealing with weaker signals, more layers, and more chances for the watch to shift around.

A few small habits help. Treat the first minute of any workout as a settling-in period, rather than an instant performance test, and keep the watch in a warmer spot on your arm.

The other mindset shift is knowing what you’re trying to achieve: for easy runs and general fitness, “close enough” is often fine.

Xiaomi has launched a new smart washing machine in China, and it’s definitely one to watch. The Mijia Washing Machine Pro Super Electrolytic Smart Wash and Dry 12kg builds on the brand’s previous models but introduces Xiaomi’s super electrolysis technology, which is designed to level up everyday laundry.

The technology unlocks a whole range of clever wash options, including stain removal, garment whitening and colour bleed prevention. There’s also 31 different wash programmes, all selectable via the touch panel, including a super-handy 12-minute quick wash, a wool cycle, and even a pet hair removal mode.

In terms of capacity, the machine can wash up to 12kg and dry up to 9kg, making it far more practical for larger households than some of Xiaomi’s more experimental multi-drum designs. Drying is sensor-controlled too, with a low-temperature drying mode that automatically stops once clothes are dry, helping to protect fabrics and save energy.

Elsewhere, there’s a 95°C drum-cleaning cycle for hygiene, plus intelligent detergent dispensing with dual compartments that can hold up to 30 days’ worth of detergent. As you’d expect, it’s fully connected with remote control via Xiaomi’s app, support for HyperOS Connect, and future over-the-air updates planned.

Right now, the washer dryer is priced at CNY 3,999 or around $573, and it’s only available in China. Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed whether it’ll come to Europe just yet, but given the generous capacity and practical feature set, it’s easy to see why this model could be very popular.

If you missed it, Xiaomi held a huge launch event back in September where it showed off a variety of new smart home gadgets. There was a lot to take in – especially on the security side – but there was one product that immediately grabbed my attention more than anything else.

At first glance, the Xiaomi Mijia Three-Zone Washing Machine Pro Drum 10kg looks like a normal washer… until you look closer and realise it has three separate drums. Yep, that means you can wash three loads at the same time. Fast forward a few months, it’s also now officially available to buy.

In China, the 10kg Xiaomi Mijia Washing Machine Pro is selling for CNY 3,999 (around £425 or $570) via Xiaomi’s online store. There’s also a larger 14kg version available for CNY 6,499, which is around £690 or $920. Sadly, Xiaomi hasn’t said anything about a European release yet, but I’ll keep you posted the moment that changes.

In terms of design, the setup uses two small drums at the top and a larger central drum for bulkier loads, each with its own separate water channel so nothing cross-contaminates. They all have independent suspension systems too, which helps keep vibration and noise levels down.

On the bigger model, the capacities have been increased as well. The main drum now handles up to 12kg, whilst each mini drum can take 1kg instead of the original's 0.4kg.

The machine automatically dispenses detergent across all three drums to avoid residue, and you get a full range of wash cycles to pick from. It also works with Xiaomi HyperOS Connect, so you can control it remotely from your phone. Xiaomi’s new Super Electrolysis Technology also promises better stain removal and even whitening.

Xiaomi has just launched its new smart fridge in China, rounding off what’s been a packed year of impressive smart home releases. The Xiaomi Mijia Refrigerator Pro Micro-Freshness Dual System Cross-Type 560L comes with a impressively strong lineup of smart features and a huge 560-litre capacity spread across 18 storage zones.

The fridge was first announced back in September alongside a variety of other smart home products, so it’s great to see it arriving before 2026. You’ll also get a choice of three finishes – Ice Crystal White, Starry Silver and Apricot Glass – all of which look very stylish.

Right now, it’s priced at CNY 9,999, which works out to just under $150. That’s obviously extremely cheap for a premium smart fridge like this, so if it ever makes its way to Europe, we can expect the price to increase. Nothing’s been confirmed yet, but we'll update you when (or if) it is.

Below the main fridge compartment, there's a 200-litre freezer that can chill down to -30°C. You can check or adjust the temperature of both the fridge and freezer remotely in the Mi Home app, and Xiaomi says the fridge uses micro-chilling tech to keep fresh meat in great condition for up to 10 days above zero.

There’s also a built-in ice maker with an antibacterial design, and users can make ice remotely through the app. Another clever touch is what Xiaomi calls the Food Alarm Clock, which reminds you when items are nearing their expiry date.

Xiaomi has launched a new budget-friendly smart lock just weeks after unveiling its most advanced model yet. Earlier this month, the Smart Door Lock M40 Pro hit the market with an impressive 12 different unlocking methods, and now the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M40 has arrived as its more affordable sibling.

Despite the lower price, the M40 still packs plenty of premium features, including facial recognition, a fingerprint scanner and password unlocking. The only real difference between the two models is that the Pro version adds palm-vein recognition, which is pretty impressive considering everything else stays the same.

In China, the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M40 costs CNY 3,299 (around £400 or $464), whilst the M40 Pro comes in at CNY 3,799 (about £450/$533) – meaning you’re saving roughly £50/$70 by opting for the non-pro version. It’s still unclear whether this model will make its way to other markets like Europe or the US.

On the inside portion of the M40, you’ll find a 4.98-inch screen that lets you see who’s at your door without opening it. You can also manage everything remotely through Xiaomi’s app, and it should last around six months on a mix of lithium and AA batteries.

The newer model also features dual integrated cameras that give you a 190° field of view. There’s a primary 3MP camera offering a 175° angle for spotting people, and a secondary 128° camera dedicated to detecting objects like parcels.

After appearing on Xiaomi’s global website back in August, I’ve been waiting with bated breath to see if the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 would make its way to Europe – and it’s finally confirmed that it has. Given Xiaomi’s Chinese roots, many of its products stay in China with only a select few making it overseas, but luckily, the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 is one of them.

The new purifier boasts a sleek design with a variety of impressive smart features, and could easily be one of Xiaomi’s best models yet. It cleans the air in five separate stages, tackling everything from pollen and dust to unwanted odours, and can reportedly purify a whole room in just 3.5 minutes thanks to a 443 m³/h particle clean air delivery rate.

It’s now available on Xiaomi’s website, though prices vary by country – €189.99 in Spain and €199.99 in Germany. It's yet to be revealed when it's coming to the UK.

One of the standout features we noticed after launch is its ability to filter formaldehyde, a harmful compound released by furniture, carpets, paint and even fireplaces. Many of the best air purifiers on the market don’t touch it, which makes Xiaomi’s approach particularly impressive.

This time of year, demand for air purifiers and dehumidifiers is high, so we wouldn’t be surprised if it sells out fast – especially at such an attractive price.

Externally, there are two cameras – a main 3MP camera with a 175° field of view, and a secondary 2MP camera with a 128° field of view. These offer full colour night vision and IR night vision modes, along with AI recognition for people and packages.

In China, the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M40 Pro will retail for CNY 3,799, which is around £450 or $533. It’s currently exclusive to China, and it’s unclear whether this model will make its way to other markets like Europe and the US.

The M40 Pro also features a 5-inch digital screen on its internal unit, allowing users to view a live video feed and see who’s on the other side of the door. This is similar to the Eufy FamiLock S3 Max, which has already been hugely successful after launching at CES earlier this year.

Users can watch live and historical video in the Xiaomi app, which also sends alerts if someone is tampering with the lock. The device supports Bluetooth 5.3 and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and it’s compatible with Xiaomi HyperOS Connect for wider smart home integration. It should run for around six months on its 8,000mAh lithium battery plus four AA batteries.

From the images, it looks to be quite a large unit, but it’s streamlined enough to still sit comfortably on the door. We’ll update you if this one makes it over to our side of the world, as it’s looking very promising indeed.

The best cordless vacuum cleaners just keep getting better, don’t they? Every year, brands seem to add more clever tech and extra power, and whilst features like smart dirt detection have mostly been reserved for the likes of Dyson and Shark, Xiaomi’s latest model shows it’s ready to play the game too.

The new Xiaomi Vacuum Cleaner G30 Max has just appeared on the brand’s global website, and according to the listing, it delivers up to 280AW of suction power. This is around 51% stronger than the older Xiaomi G11, which launched back in 2021.

Pricing and availability haven’t yet been revealed, but this already sounds like one to watch.

As for features, the G30 Max offers three modes – Eco, Auto and Turbo. In Auto mode, the vacuum automatically adjusts suction power based on how dirty the floor is, much like the best Dyson vacuum cleaners or the Shark PowerDetect. It's one of those things you didn't realise you needed until you try it, and I certainly will never be able to go back after doing so.

It also comes with seven attachments, including a long electric brush bar with an anti-tangle comb, sofa brush and a pet brush. Battery life is impressive too, with its 4,000 mAh battery providing up to 90 minutes of cleaning on Eco mode.

You’ll also find a digital display showing battery and dirt levels, plus a white LED light on the brush head to help you spot hidden dust and debris.

As mentioned, there’s still no word on exactly when or where it’ll launch, or how much it’ll cost. However, based on these specs, we’re definitely curious to see how it performs in real life, especially if it really can rival Dyson and Shark at a lower price point.

We've seen all sorts from Xiaomi recently, but the brand is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, it's just revealed that another smart appliance is on the way, this time to do with water filtration.

The Mijia Smart Water Purifier N800G integrates directly into your drinking water pipe and comes with its own dedicated tap. It can filter up to 2 litres per minute, putting it among the fastest home filtration systems we’ve seen.

Whilst Xiaomi hasn’t shared pricing or availability yet, the fact it’s listed on its global website suggests it could launch in multiple regions.

From the listing, it looks like the system features an LED display on the tap to show when the filter needs changing, and users can track the process via the Xiaomi Home app. The filter itself has a total capacity of 4,000 litres, making it a solid long-term option for clean water at home.

This launch comes on the heels of Xiaomi’s other recent water-focused products, including a smart kettle that keeps water hot for 24 hours and a touch-controlled smart water tap, showing the brand’s serious push into smarter, more connected kitchen tech.

Xiaomi has clearly had Apple in its sights while designing its next range of phones. The Android phone range is said to skip a generation to more closely align with Apple, and is also changing its naming convention to go toe-to-toe.

It's something of a risky game. While it may well make it a clearer comparison in the eyes of the untrained consumer, others will see it as too much of a copycat move.

Still, recently showcased official images might suggest they have something to shout about. As shared by The Verge, the brand's Pro and Pro Max variants look set to employ a small display on the camera bump at the rear of the device.

It's a lot like the cover displays we see on flip phones like the Motorola Razr and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7. Those wrap around the camera units, and this does the same thing, offering a sleek looking design.

It looks set to be quite usable, too. The materials supplied by Xiaomi show it being used like a mirror to frame selfies with the more powerful rear camera, and to showcase widgets – we see flight tracking in action, for example.

But by far the coolest application is using it as the screen for an unofficial Game Boy. Yes, you read that right – paired with an official Xiaomi case complete with physical control buttons, the rear display becomes a gaming console all its own.

It's a really interesting way of maximising the wasted space, and I'm here for it. While it certainly won't be to everyone's taste, I think it makes a lot of sense in real world use.

It's not dissimilar to the Matrix Glyph we see on the Nothing Phone (3), either, though I think this is much more useful. Users would have access to a pretty full suite of notifications and widgets, rather than the quirky dot matrix toys of the Nothing handset.

Xiaomi has recently announced a fleet of new appliances and smart home products, including a smart washing machine which can do three loads at once. But its new security camera could give Tapo a run for its money – and it’s not hard to see where Xiaomi got its design inspiration from.

The new Xiaomi Smart Camera C701 measures just 79mm x 79mm x 119mm and weighs roughly 297g. It looks similar to Tapo’s new baby camera and it can act as a pet and baby monitor if needed – it can even recognise the sound of crying and will notify you.

The camera’s AI detection can track and recognise humans and pets, and automatically starts recording when it detects any kind of breach, and sends real-time image alerts to your phone. Aside from recognising your baby crying, the Xiaomi Smart Camera C701 also has loud noise detection and captures footage if it hears anything unusual.

The Xiaomi Smart Camera C701 is powered by the 1T AI chip so it responds extremely quickly and accurately if it spots anything suspicious. Despite its small size, it offers 360° horizontal and 109° vertical viewing angles, and has a wide-angle lens which captures images zoomed in in complete clarity.

Speaking of clarity, the Xiaomi Smart Camera C701 has 4K Ultra HD video, full colour night vision up to 10 metres, and infrared night vision. It also has an 8MP sensor with a 6-element optical lens which can shoot sharp video when zoomed in and far away.

With privacy in mind, the Xiaomi Smart Camera C701 has a lens shield which you can control manually or automatically, and even on a timer. It also supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Google Assistant and Alexa voice commands, and can store your video footage locally.

The Xiaomi Smart Camera C701 is available to buy now for £49.99 at Xiaomi. US pricing and availability hasn’t been announced yet. At such a low price, it does make me wonder about the quality of the Xiaomi Smart Camera C701, but it’ll be interesting to see how users get on with it when it hits the market.

If you haven’t cottoned on already, Xiaomi held a big launch event this morning where it unveiled a whole range of new smart home gadgets. We’ll be covering more of them over the next few days, but I wanted to kick things off with one appliance that's really grabbed my attention.

At first glance, the Xiaomi Mijia Three-Zone Washing Machine Pro Drum 10kg looks like your standard washer. However, if you look a little closer, you'll see that it actually has three separate drums, meaning you can wash three loads at the same time.

The setup includes two smaller drums at the top and a larger central drum for bigger loads. Each has its own water channel to avoid cross-contamination, and independent suspension systems to keep vibration and noise down.

Xiaomi says the machine can automatically dispense detergent across all three drums, resulting in less detergent residue for softer, fresher-feeling clothes. There’s also good selection of wash cycles too, and it can integrate into the Xiaomi HyperOS Connect system for remote control.

Another interesting addition is Xiaomi’s so-called Super Electrolysis Technology, which promises better stain removal and even whitening.

Pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, but the Mijia Three-Zone Washing Machine Pro Drum 10kg is set to launch in China later this month. Whether it ever makes its way to Europe is unlikely as Xiaomi hasn’t ventured into laundry appliances here yet – but never say never.

Xiaomi is best known for its phones outside of China, but in its home market, it has made a wide range of affordable and high-quality products, from fridges to TVs. From 2026, though, these home products will be available outside of China for the first time, with a big global push to bring them to more homes.

Perhaps the most exciting is its TV lineup, which includes 75-inch, 65-inch and 55-inch S Pro mini-LED models. These Android-based devices use QD-Mini LED and have up to 702 dimming zones and ultra-low reflection displays. These start from €699 ($820 / £620) up to €1099 ($1290 / £960) for the 75-inch.

Additionally, there is a 4K 360-degree C701 smart camera €59.99 ($70 / £52), and two robot vacuums, the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 and 5 Pro, from €649/€799 ($760/£570 to $940/£700). Some of the new products use a new Mijia brand name. This includes the Air Conditioner Pro Eco (€599/$700/£520), Refrigerator Cross Door (€849/$996/£740) and Front Load Washer Dryer Pro (€579/$680/£505).

Many of these – including the fridge, robovac, and washing machine – are smart products that connect to the Mi Home app for remote operation. The new double door fridge-freezer also offers voice control, either through Xiaomi products or via Amazon Alexa.

This is just the first wave of products, with more expected to join the line-up in the next few years. It’s not been confirmed if all of these products will be coming to the UK straight away, but Xiaomi tell me that the TVs will be among the first wave.

This global expansion and Human x Car x Home strategy will even see Xiaomi's electric vehicles become available outside of China in 2027. This could include the SU7 and new YU7 models, as well as the SU7 Ultra – the fastest production car around the Nürburgring.

Soon, Xiaomi home products could be omnipresent in our lives, just as they are in China. From what I’ve seen, this is great news for consumers, as they are offering some really impressive specs for competitive prices.

Xiaomi has just launched its brand new Vacuum Cleaner P30, and it's probably the slimmest cordless vacuum cleaner I've ever seen. After appearing on Xiaomi’s global site the other day, it's pretty much confirmed that a wider launch beyond China seems imminent.

The P30 is an upright cordless vacuum, but unlike most, it’s very compact. Exact dimensions haven’t been confirmed, but it’s very lightweight at just 860 grams with the battery, making it easy to handle and ideal for quick cleaning sessions.

Pricing and availability are still to be confirmed, but knowing Xiaomi’s track record, it’s unlikely to on the expensive side.

The P30 features 22,000 Pa suction, a 110,000 rpm motor and 180 W of power, meaning it should handle everyday floor cleaning with ease. It also comes with a 2-in-1 brush, so you can also use it as a handheld for furniture or tricky corners.

The 8,000 mAh pack promises up to 40 minutes of cleaning per charge, or around 10 minutes on Turbo mode. Modes can be switched with simple onboard buttons, and it even charges via USB-C, which is still a rare feature even amongst the best cordless vacuum cleaners.

The problem with smartphones these days is that it’s difficult to distinguish one from another. Unless you’re really keen, or you write about them on a daily basis like us, it’s hard to tell apples from pears.

They all have reasonably large displays, prominent camera systems on the rear, and they each have premium designs, at least at the top end.

It was only last week that Apple announced four new iPhones, ranging from the standard iPhone 17 to the top of the range 17 Pro and Pro Max. And while the standard 17 sticks with a similar design to the iPhone 16, the iPhone 17 Pro models have had a design refresh.

Now it's taken all of seven days for a leak to show another smartphone manufacturer opting for a similar look.

What will the Xiaomi 17 series have that's unique?

Leaker Universe Ice posted a teaser video on X showing off the new the design for the upcoming Xiaomi 17 series, which is expected to be revealed in full in a few weeks time.

The 14-second video shows a phone with a large raised camera panel on the rear at the top, spanning the width of the device, just like the iPhone 17 Pro.

The camera lenses, of which there are two, are in the corner of that panel, so that's your first point of difference between the Xiaomi and iPhone designs, though. The second is a little more exciting.

That's because, on the right of the lenses is what looks like a mini display. The video shows a clock on the front device, but it's possible that the display could also present things like small notification icons too.

We'll have to wait and see, but for now the leaked video has certainly teased us enough into wanting a closer look.

Xiaomi is well known for its smart home tech, but its newest gadget focuses soley on everyday comfort. The brand has just launched the Smart Graphene Heater, a compact model with up to 2,000W of power that’s said to deliver warmth in as little as three seconds.

The timing makes perfect sense, with temperatures dropping ahead of winter. It also follows the success of Xiaomi’s new Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6, which had a similar pricing strategy and wide availability across Europe.

The heater first launched in China in 2023, with a global rollout announced for June 2025. It’s now available in Europe, priced at €79.99 in Spain and €89.99 in Italy, with the UK expected to follow soon.

Despite its small size, the Smart Graphene Heater is packed with features. It can oscillate up to 70°, and you can choose from three airflow modes – hot, warm and natural breeze. These settings are easily controlled either on the built-in panel or via the Xiaomi Home app.

In the app, you can set a target temperature or create a schedule, and the heater even supports Google Home for voice control via Google Assistant. Safety features include overheat protection and an automatic tilt shut-off.

Design-wise, the heater comes in a sleek white casing, measures 176 x 467mm and weighs around 2.3 kg – which is light enough to move around as needed.

Xiaomi is preparing to launch its next Android phone in the coming weeks – and it's doing something really bizarre with it! The brand is skipping its 16^th generation altogether, instead opting to launch the new series as the Xiaomi 17.

The news was announced by brand president Lu Weibing on Weibo, who suggested that the move was designed to go toe-to-toe with the respective iPhone series. We've just seen the launch of the iPhone 17, so that checks out.

The post also confirms the models which will be released. We're set to get three handsets – the Xiaomi 17, the Xiaomi 17 Pro and the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.

We also get confirmation of the devices being powered by the new flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. That's something we'd probably have guessed, but it's good to have it confirmed by an official source.

It's certainly a statement of intent from the brand. The post talks of Xiaomi's confidence in its technology, which stems from five years of solid progress and investment.

Personally, I think it's an interesting approach. I can't say I'd ever be swayed by the different numbers between different brand's handsets, but I'm sure there are some who would. It's the classic Spinal Tap theory – one extra number can make all the difference.

It's not just the change of numbering which sounds exciting, either. The post ends with a teaser for something "new to the smartphones" which could leave users feeling bored with the current crop. There's no word on exactly what that is, but I'm certainly excited to see what they can do.

I've always been a big fan of Xiaomi handsets – they offer killer specs and a reliable overall user experience – and this sounds like the most significant jump for the brand in recent years.

Back in February, Xiaomi announced its Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Mini, and the wait for its release is now over. The device has started appearing in Europe, first in Germany where it’s priced at €14.99, with launches expected in the UK and France soon.

During its crowdfunding phase, early backers could pick one up for around £3 or $4, which felt almost too good to be true. The retail price was always expected to rise, but at under €15, it still lands firmly in the budget-friendly category – especially for a smart home gadget.

The new model keeps the same core purpose as its predecessor, monitoring both temperature and humidity, but does so in a smaller design. It comes with a clear 2.1-inch display that shows the current temperature down to 0.1°C and humidity to the nearest 1%. The readings update every six seconds, so conditions are always up to date.

Beyond the basics, the Mini connects via Bluetooth to other Xiaomi smart devices. That means it can trigger a Xiaomi air purifier when levels shift, making it more than just a display sensor. Power comes from a CR2450 battery, which Xiaomi says should last around three years before needing replacement.

Just days after unveiling a new smart air purifier, Xiaomi is keeping the momentum going with the launch of its latest home appliance – a smart kettle. Offering 24-hour insulation, it’s the brand’s most advanced model yet.

The Mijia Constant Temperature Kettle 3 Pro is powered by a 1,800W base, meaning it boils water quickly and supports four preset temperatures – 45°C, 60°C, 70°C and 85°C. For more precise control, users can adjust the heat in single-degree increments from 40°C to 90°C.

Available in white with silver accents, the Kettle 3 Pro is priced at CNY 249, which is around £40 or $35. Whilst Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed wider availability, the fact that the previous Smart Kettle 2 Pro is available in Europe suggests this model could follow.

We’ve seen similar smart kettles before, like the Haier I-Master Series 7, but most only manage 12-hour insulation. Xiaomi doubling that to a full day is seriously impressive, even if we’ve yet to test it.

Other highlights include a digital display that shows the selected temperature and a larger-than-average 2.0-litre capacity, which is enough for around eight to ten drinks.

With its combination of design, features and insulation, this looks like it could be one of the best smart kettles on the market so far.

I feel like I start every article about Xiaomi by saying how impressive its recent launches have been, but it’s true. In just the past couple of weeks, we’ve seen everything from a new smart home hub to an upgraded security camera, and now the brand has unveiled something else.

The new Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 comes with a sleek design, plenty of smart features, and might just be one of Xiaomi’s best models yet. We'll get onto it a little later, but there's also one particular feature I can't wait to tell you about.

Unlike many of the brand's product launches, this one has appeared on its global website, which is a strong hint that we’ll be able to buy it here in Europe as well as in China. Pricing and availability are still under wraps, but fingers crossed it won’t be long.

The Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 cleans the air in five separate stages, targeting everything from pollen and dust to unwanted odours – and even formaldehyde. If that word sounds familiar, it’s probably because Dyson highlights it in its top-selling model.

Formaldehyde is a harmful compound that can be released into the air by things like furniture, carpets, paint and even fireplaces. Many of the best air purifiers don’t touch it, which makes Xiaomi’s approach particularly impressive.

Beyond that, it’s packed with sensors to monitor temperature, humidity, dust and particle levels (PM2.5 and PM1). There’s also an integrated display showing real-time settings and readings, as well as support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa for smart home integration.

Xiaomi has unveiled its new smart home hub, expected to launch in the coming weeks. The Smart Home Screen 8 PTZ follows the design of the 2022 Smart Home Screen 10, with a square shape, rectangular display and a fabric-covered speaker below – but with one key addition that stands out.

The hub appears to include an integrated pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) camera. The teaser image also shows the time, date and weekday on the home screen, but the full functionality of the hub hasn’t been revealed.

It's available on Xiaomi's China site for ¥99999 – around £500 or $700 – which is quite steep for a smart home hub. However, information is still very limited at this time, so we'll have to wait to find out more.

The listing also mentions 360° AI care, though Xiaomi hasn’t explained what that means. With the camera at the front, it could indicate facial recognition or personalised features, but that remains speculative.

The announcement follows Xiaomi’s recent security camera upgrade, hinting that more smart home products could be on the way.

After rolling out a bunch of smart gadgets lately, Xiaomi is back with its latest security camera just a few months after the last one dropped. The new Xiaomi Smart Camera 4C is the follow-up to the Smart Camera 4 that launched back in April, but it’s now stepping things up with an upgraded 6 MP sensor for sharper, clearer footage.

Xiaomi has also given the wireless side of things a boost, packing the camera with an advanced dual-band WiFi 6 chip. This allows for better coverage and smoother live previews on your phone compared to its predecessor.

Right now, the Smart Camera 4C is up for pre-order in China at around 199 CNY, which is roughly $28 or £20. Xiaomi hasn’t said when it’ll hit global markets, but there’s a launch event planned for next month, so fingers crossed we get all the details then.

The new camera shoots video at 3200 x 1800 pixels and thanks to AI-powered enhancements, it promises bright, clear night vision too. It’s powered by the MJA1 security chip that keeps your footage safe with cloud transmission encryption, and there’s a handy physical lens cover built in.

Other features include 3.5K resolution, a full 360-degree horizontal viewing angle, and 116 degrees vertical coverage. It supports both cloud and NAS storage, has a physical microSD card slot, and even 940 nm infrared fill lights, putting it right up there with some of the best security cameras out there.

There's no escaping AI at the moment, with fierce competition to develop and deploy AI across a full range of applications. Xiaomi, hot off the back of shaking up the world of electric vehicles, has released a new AI model.

The new MiDashengLM-7B is an open-source AI voice model, meaning it's available for other businesses to deploy. It's based on Xiaomi's AI tech that, according to ITHome, can understand speech, environmental sounds and music – and has already been put to use in smart home devices and cars from the company.

It combines two elements, the Dasheng audio encoder from Xiaomi, alongside the Qwen2.5-Omni decoder from Alibaba.

In the real world, this is the AI tech that sits behind the enhanced sentry mode offered by the new Xiaomi YU7, with Xiaomi saying that it already powers more than 30 AI features that the company offers.

It's no slouch either, with breakthroughs in 22 public evaluation tests. Xiaomi also declares all the sources that this model is trained on, which is said to be 100% public data.

This language model is designed to understand what's happening around the user with that full spectrum of recognition of sounds, to dive a little deeper and improve responses through the additional context it can interpret.

In the smart home, this model can provide monitoring for specific sound triggers, either as an alert function or to provide gesture controls based on sounds. The low latency and efficiency of the model mean it can trigger faster than rivals, making it a good candidate for sentry modes in a car.

While Xiaomi has used this model effectively within its own devices, making it open source will mean that others will be able to take this model and use it themselves. That might garner the interest of others developing within the automotive or smart home space.

The open-source nature of this model will present a challenge for major tech companies pushing their own licensed AI platforms, like OpenAI or Anthropic, with developers able to get access to the model easily. That could help accelerate the evolution of new AI features and applications.

Xiaomi has said that it continues to develop the efficiency of the model, looking to offer offline access and enhanced features like sound editing.

Just a few weeks ago, Xiaomi launched the Mijia Water Purifier S1 1200G – a sleek smart tap that filters water on demand. It quickly gained attention due to its polished design and Zero Stale Water 3.0 technology, but now Xiaomi has introduced a new model that takes things up a notch.

The newly launched Mijia Instant Hot Water Purifier 1200G is a three-piece system that includes a smart tap and two under-sink units for both purification and heating. This upgraded version not only keeps your water clean and fresh, but also delivers instant hot water as soon as you turn on the tap – with adjustable temperatures to suit your needs.

Just like the previous model, it’s currently only available in China and is priced at CNY 3,999 (around £400 or $555). That said, there’s still hope both models might make their way to Europe.

As mentioned, Xiaomi’s new smart tap is designed to deliver hot water immediately, with temperature options reportedly going up to 95°C. It dispenses hot water at a flow rate of 1,000 ml/min, which means you can fill a 150 ml cup in just nine seconds. For room temperature water, the flow rate jumps to 3.18L/min, so a 500 ml glass takes around the same time.

The smart faucet also comes with a built-in display showing the TDS value and current settings, and you can adjust the temperature directly on the tap. With HyperOS Connect, users can check water quality and track usage through the Xiaomi app, as well as remotely tweak the temperature and volume.

As you probably already know – mostly because I mention it in nearly everything I write about Xiaomi – we’ve been absolutely spoiled lately with new product launches. From compact washer-dryers to a range of sleek indoor air conditioning units, Xiaomi’s been rolling out smart home gear like it’s going out of style.

Xiaomi has now done it again, and has just officially launched two brand new robot vacuums in Singapore – the H40 and the S40. These new additions continue the brand’s expansion into the smart home space, both featuring vacuuming and mopping capabilities.

Right now, both models are available at various retailers in Singapore, and there's no word on whether they’ll hit shelves in Europe or the US. However, they are listed on Xiaomi's global website, which is always a good sign.

The H40 is the higher-end of the two, priced at S$319/US$219 – or just over £150. It boasts a huge 10,000Pa suction power and a huge 4-litre dust bag that Xiaomi says can last up to 90 days without needing to be emptied.

It also features a five-stage anti-tangle system designed to deal with hair without clogging everything up, and an LDS smart navigation system.

Meanwhile, the S40 is the more budget-friendly optionn at S$229/US$180/£130-ish. You get the same 10,000Pa suction, mopping capabilities, a generous 5200mAh battery, and Xiaomi’s anti-tangle magic. It also comes equipped with an LDS (laser distance sensor) system to map out your home for efficient cleaning paths.

However, instead of the H40’s 4-litre dust bin, you get a 520ml bin and a 270ml water tank. So, it's a good idea to consider the size of your home and how often you plan to use the vacuum before deciding which model is the right fit for you

Xiaomi has really been on a roll lately with its smart home lineup, and I’ve especially been loving the look of its new smart water tap. However, as many fans know all too well, a lot of Xiaomi’s coolest new gadgets tend to launch exclusively in China – which can be extremely frustrating.

Well, that trend is finally starting to change. Xiaomi has officially listed the Mijia Air Conditioner Pro Eco 2.6kW and Mijia Air Conditioner Pro Eco 3.5kW on its global website, which means they’re headed to international markets. These will be the brand’s first smart air conditioners available outside of China, and it looks like Europe is first on the list.

We don’t have confirmed release dates or pricing just yet, but knowing Xiaomi’s track record, they’re likely to be competitively priced. We also expect them to be pretty popular, especially as there isn't much of an existing market for air conditioners in Europe anyways.

Both models offer cooling and heating capabilities, with up to 3.6kW heating capacity and 860W heating power. The 2.6kW model is best for rooms between 10 and 20m², whilst the 3.5kW unit suits larger spaces of 15 to 25m².

Users can also control them remotely via the Xiaomi Home app, access Mijia AI Energy Saving mode, and track real-time energy usage. There’s also Google Assistant voice support, and they integrate smoothly with the rest of the Xiaomi smart home ecosystem.

Other handy features include smart pre-heating, anti-condensation tech, and filter cleaning reminders – all designed to make life just a little more comfortable.

Xiaomi could have a plan in motion to launch a new phone that's going to challenge iPhone and Samsung devices with something that makes them look outdated. The best news is that this device could be launched as soon as September.

Xiaomi has enjoyed success with the Xiaomi 15 series, especially the Xiaomi 15 Ultra which photographers have flocked to. But the brand's launch cycle is slightly different to other manufacturers, with its new series expected to be announced much earlier.

The details of this new phone come from a couple of sources, with XiaomiTime (via 91mobiles) revealing that this device is internally labelled as "Q200" with the codename "Pandora". According to the source, this is an addition to the Xiaomi line-up, and it will have a dual screen design.

It isn't a folding phone, instead it’s thought to have a second screen on the rear of the device. We saw this previously on the Xiaomi 11 Ultra, with that second screen acting as a selfie preview, music control and some other tasks, like a clock.

Xiaomi's second-screen Android phone: details discovered

The details of the new phone have been discovered in HyperOS code, which suggests that it's well in development, which leads to the thinking that it could launch sooner than expected.

There has also been some information on this device from Digital Chat Station, which describes a phone featuring a "horizontal large matrix full-size secondary screen" (translated). The leaker also talks about a periscope telephoto camera, but that would be expected on any high-end Xiaomi phone.

It sounds like Xiaomi wants to explore what it started with the Xiaomi 11 Ultra and continue with the idea of a rear display, but that does raise questions. Many people place their phone face down so they aren't disturbed by the main display, and this runs counter to this idea.

It's likely that if someone wants to continue interaction, rather than that taking place on a smaller compromised display, they'll just flip the phone over and use the main screen.

It could be purely a decorative measure – like the Nothing Phone 3 that's just been announced – but so far we've not seen any leaks to suggest what this phone might look like.

The launch of the device is likely to be targeted at China initially and the September reveal is likely because Xiaomi typically ties its launches to new Snapdragon hardware.

Qualcomm has pulled its Snapdragon Summit event forward to September (it used to be November) and Xiaomi could be following suit – so it can announce new devices with the new Snapdragon Elite Gen 2.

Xiaomi has been spoiling us with cool gadgets lately, and the Smart Ceiling Light D20 was just the tip of the iceberg. It sometimes feels like the brand never takes a break – but hey, we’re definitely not complaining.

The latest addition to its ever-growing lineup is a smart touch water tap called the Mijia Water Purifier S1 1200G – a sleek solution that delivers filtered water straight from the tap. It comes with an RO filter that’s designed to last up to five years and claims to remove 99.8% of cadmium, 99.9% of lead and a full 100% of E. coli.

At the moment, it’s only available in China and priced at CNY 1,999, which is just under £200 or $300. It’s pretty unlikely we’ll see it launch in Europe anytime soon – mainly because there isn’t a huge market for it here – but we can still admire it from afar.

The tap features Xiaomi’s Zero Stale Water 3.0 tech, which keeps your water fresh at all times. It also comes with a smart touch faucet that lets you choose between four different water volumes. With a 1,200G or 3.21L/min flow rate, it can fill a 150ml cup in just 2.8 seconds.

Through the Xiaomi app, you can remotely control the purifier, monitor your water quality, track usage history, and even customise your preferred cup size.

It was over six months ago that Xiaomi teased the release of its Smart Ceiling Light D20, hinting at its availability for purchase in the coming weeks. Fast forward to today, and it’s finally here, but the wait turned out to be a bit longer than anyone expected.

It's clear that the light's standout feature is its integrated smart radar light sensor, switching the light on when you enter a room and off when you leave. It also outputs a respectable 900 lumens of brightness and lets you fine-tune the colour temperature anywhere between 2,700K and 5,700K.

Right now, it’s available in Germany for €39.99, and it’s also listed on the Xiaomi store in Hungary. Meanwhile, a support page on Xiaomi's Spanish website suggests a launch is on the horizon over there, and we’re still waiting on UK pricing details.

The D20 integrates with Xiaomi’s HyperOS Connect, so you can control it remotely via the Xiaomi Home app. It can also sync up with Amazon Alexa and Google Home for a fully hands-free experience.

Design-wise, it keeps things sleek and modern with an ultra-slim 6 cm profile that hugs the ceiling. However, Xiaomi points out that the light must be installed on a concrete ceiling, and the radar sensor feature only works if it’s activated via the app.

We're now just days away from Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event where the company is expected to launch a number of new foldable phones including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7 and the Flip 7 FE, but they aren't the only folding handsets arriving this summer.

Pipping Samsung to the post last week was the Vivo X Fold 5 that featured a super slender build, while this week, all eyes are on the launch of the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2.

We brought you news on its launch last week, including its huge battery and attractive price point, but there's another element of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 rival that's also piqued our interest since.

The accessories on offer are unusual, to say the least.

As spotted by Android Authority, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 comes with a screen cap case for protecting the external display, but there is also a portable camera kit that adds a shutter button for taking pictures, whilst also offering a portable printer for hard copies of any photos you snap and want to print out.

What makes the portable camera kit more unusual is that it is far from slim, pretty much turning the Mix Flip 2 into a brick. This goes against all the slimming down that's currently happening in the phone world, such as with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy S25 Edge.

There are also portable printers available to buy separately which may make for a better option if you aren't planning on printing pictures all day long.

Still though, we're always here for something different and this is certainly that.

What specs does the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 have?

In terms of specs, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, has a 5,165mAh battery under the hood and supports 67W wired and 50W wireless charging.

There's a 6.83-inch 120Hz folding OLED display with a 2912 x 1224 resolution and a peak brightness of 3200 nits, while the external display is a 4.01-inch 120Hz screen with a 1392 x 1208 resolution and support for 500 commonly used apps.

Currently, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 is only available in China, costing 5999 yuan (around £610 / €713 / $840). The portable camera kit costs 699 yuan, which is around £70. Any osteopath appointment that might be needed after carrying it around all day will likely be more.

The world of foldable phones looks set to get a lot more interesting in the coming weeks and months. With Samsung's next release scheduled to take place in just a few short weeks, there could be some really interesting new models arriving.

In particular, much has been said about the arrival of a more affordable flip phone. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE would bring the world of folding handsets to a new low price point, and is expected to be here soon.

But it's got a new competitor. The Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 has just been launched, and its spec sheet and price point could be seriously attractive.

Powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chips which you'll find in most of the best Android phones around right now, the handset contains an enviable list of features. That includes a Leica co-designed camera system, a 6.86-inch internal AMOLED display, a 4-inch external display and a whopping-in-flip-phone-terms 5,165mAh battery.

At this point, you're probably thinking that a device with that spec sheet will cost an arm and a leg. That's not the case, either.

The model launches from 5,999 CNY (approx. £610 / €715 / US$840 / AU$1,280) which is simply fantastic value. Comparable flip phones cost the best part of £1,000 in the UK, and while the directly converted price is unlikely to be truly reflective of any future global pricing, it's the best indicator we have.

Therein lies the other problem with the release – it's currently only for the Chinese market. That's not uncommon for brands like Xiaomi, which will often release products on home soil, before releasing to other markets.

At the time of writing, there's no word on if the Mix Flip 2 will make it to other markets at all, but I really hope it does. The foldable phone market is ready for another push forward, and devices like this could be absolutely crucial in getting quality handsets into the hands of the people.

With Galaxy Unpacked scheduled for 9 July, there's no shortage of devices surfacing to rival Samsung's new foldables. The latest addition could even put the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in its place when it comes to the hardware.

Teasing the launch of its new Mix Flip 2, Xiaomi has been sharing a few details about its entry for the best folding phones. Not only do we learn that this device is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite hardware, compared to Exynos on the Z Flip 7, but it has a bigger battery too.

Xiaomi has confirmed these details on Weibo, telling us that the battery is 5,165mAh, which is more capacious than not just the Z Flip models, but the Z Fold and Galaxy S too.

The company also talks about a new hinge structure with a really flat internal display. Elsewhere we get to see some of the design of the phone, shared on X.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 rivals

Samsung's next folding models are expected to be announced at Galaxy Unpacked on 9 July, with the Z Flip 7 joining the Galaxy Z Fold 7, alongside a refresh to the company's Galaxy Watch models.

While the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is being pitched as the thinnest folding phone so far – with Samsung pushing the "ultra" branding – less has been said about the Z Flip 7. We've previously heard that it will have a 4,300mAh battery, while it's expected that the phone will be powered by the Exynos 2500.

Where Samsung will win out, however, is in availability. The new folding phones will be available globally, while Xiaomi's exposure in regions like the US will be limited.

Samsung has also faced strong competition in the folding phone arena from Motorola, which has offered two flip devices over the past couple of years, providing a premium and a slightly more affordable option to buyers.

Samsung could also be doubling up on its flip phones this year, with reports that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be joined by the Z Flip 7 FE, widening its exposure to customers looking for a slightly more affordable folding model.

Xiaomi stunned the tech world in 2024 when it announced the Xiaomi SU7, its first electric car. We’ve since seen that expand to the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and now you’ll get the chance to drive it – if you happen to own Gran Turismo 7 on the PS5.

Gran Turismo has been a draw for auto brands for many years, with the likes of Bulgari launching a watch collaboration in cahoots with the game, while the Vision Gran Turismo programme invited car manufacturers to design concept cars for the game.

That’s seen the birth of cars like the Lambo V12 Vision Gran Turismo and concepts like the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo coming to life.

Gran Turismo has been a digital playground, not only giving fans access to realistic cars to drive, but giving car makers an interactive billboard for their future designs or most exciting models. It makes perfect sense that Xiaomi would burst onto the scene with the SU7 Ultra, to increase its exposure to fans of fast cars.

This is the first time that Xiaomi has featured in the game, which isn’t surprising considering that it only jumped into the world of electric cars in 2024. For Xiaomi, it’s a chance to rub shoulders with the likes of Porsche on the virtual track and let tech fans take a look.

“I am deeply moved by Xiaomi’s courage, curiosity, passion, and relentless dedication to realising such milestones. This spirit resonates profoundly with Gran Turismo and Polyphony Digital’s philosophy," said Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the Gran Turismo game series.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has a tri-motor configuration (designed by Xiaomi itself), with a top speed over 215mph and an eye watering 0-62mph time of 1.98 seconds. In a slightly tongue in cheek move, Xiaomi names its electric motors after combustion configurations, with the SU7 Ultra featuring two V8s motors and one V6s motor.

At launch, the design of the car was likened to the Porsche Taycan, while also looking to better Porsche in performance too. It comes in much cheaper than the sports car maker from Stuttgart, presenting something of a problem for established brands.

The Xiaomi SU7 is on sale in China where it’s been in high demand, with reports that waiting times are quite long. However, it’s clear that Xiaomi has global plans for the electric cars. It’s suggested that the Xiaomi SU7 could cost around €60,000 in Europe, quite a bump from the €28,000 price in China, but you can expect it to face a range of tariffs and taxes.

Xiaomi’s debut in Gran Turismo 7 will likely widen awareness of this segment disruptor, giving more people a chance to experience what it has to offer and likely increase demand in the real world too.

In the wonderful world of phones – and, indeed, the wider world of tech – one shift has been arguably the biggest for all of the major brands. The introduction of in-house processors for brands like Apple and Samsung has been a major priority for years, as manufacturers seek to retain control of as much of the process as possible.

Now, Xiaomi are pushing in a similar direction. The recently unveiled Xiaomi 15S Pro is an Android phone which makes use of the brand's first in-house SoC. That's dubbed the XRING O1, and is built on a 3nm architecture.

The chip comprises of a 10-core CPU and a 16-core GPU, with a six-core NPU added for AI-powered goodness. It's not exactly news, either – the chip itself was launched a few days ago, and has reportedly been in the works for over ten years!

It comes alongside another chip – the Xiaomi XRING T1. That's a smartwatch processor, complete with a self-developed 4G baseband. All of that showcases the brand's vision and commitment to make itself a leader in the sector.

Xiaomi SU7 launches

It's not just the new chips which was unveiled, either. The brand also showcased the Xiaomi YU7 car – its take on an electric SUV.

The first design from the brand – the Xiaomi SU7 – was often compared to the Porsche Taycan. It's not hard to see why either, as the designs were very similar indeed. That's something which I'm sure will be continued here, as the YU7 bears a passing resemblance to the Macan electric. There's a little more shapeliness on the door panels, though.

Remarkably, the entry-level standard variant of this model features a whopping 835km range – that's over 500 miles! That's a really significant spec and should help to inspire real confidence in the model.

It also packs in some new charging technology, to ensure the colossal battery can be topped up quickly and efficiently. That allows for a 10-80% charge in just 12 minutes, and a 15 minute charge offering 620km of power.

There was a time when smartphones ran on processors made by only a couple of companies, but that's started to shift over the last few years.

Apple's original iPhone featured a Samsung-built processor under its hood, but since the iPhone 4 that launched in 2010, the Cupertino company moved to in-house CPUs.

Google's Pixel devices originally used Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-chips, until the Pixel 6 arrived in 2021 and the company switched to its in-house Tensor processors. And Samsung's Galaxy devices have long used a mixture of its own Exynos processors (often for Europe), while offering Snapdragon in the US.

There are also rumours that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 might switch to Exynos for the first time this year.

The point is, smartphone manufacturers over the last few years have moved from relying on third party manufacturers like Qualcomm for their processors, to developing chips in-house. Now Xiaomi is the latest to jump on board.

What will the Xiaomi XRING 01 offer?

The Chinese company, which has typically used Snapdragon processors for its higher end devices and MediaTek in mid-range devices, has announced its own smartphone chip – the XRING 01 – which it has been working on for over a decade.

While there is little information about the chip itself aside from the announcement, previous rumours have said it will be built on a 4nm process through TSMC. It's worth noting here that Apple also uses TSMC for its own silicon.

Other rumours have claimed the XRING 01 will have a 1-3-4 layout, which some suggest could be similar to Google's Tensor processors, although it'll lag a little behind the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite and Dimensity 9400 in terms of raw power.

Xiaomi only said the XRING 01 would launch later this month, although it didn't detail specifically when. The expectation is that it might debut in the Xiaomi 15s but for now, we will have to wait and see.
