I jumped at the chance to review the Roborock Qrevo S Pro. Why? Because it is a robot vacuum and mop and the thought of something else cleaning the floors was a huge relief.

The reality was no different. I’ve been releasing the Roborock Qrevo S Pro on a daily roam around the ground floor of my home, to vacuum the carpets and rugs and mop the hard wooden floors. It has been two weeks and so far, so good.

I’ve challenged it with deliberately dropped dried cereals and the daily debris bought in by a young family. It certainly had its work cut out for it. Keep reading to see if it’s the best robot vacuum cleaner for your household, or if you’re going to stick with the best cordless vacuum after all.

Price and availability

The Roborock Qrevo S Pro is available to buy for a cool £549.49, either direct from the brand or a go-to favorite reseller, Amazon.

While it was only just launched at the end of April 2026, this robot vacuum and mop combo regularly takes a discount. For example, right now it’s discounted by 15% which takes the price you pay down to £479.99.

Regardless of where you buy it from, Roborock or Amazon, you’ll get free delivery and free returns. This alone will save a small fortune because I would consider it a “bulky” item to ship.

Unboxing and set up

The Roborock Qrevo S Pro is one of the easiest smart devices I have ever tested. It’s a bold claim, I know, but in fewer than five minutes I had all the hardware to this robot and mop combo set up and connected to the Roborock app on my phone.

This was helped by the Quick Start Guide which is included in the package contents. On this sheet of A3 laminated card were printed five steps to installation and four steps to connect to the app. Also included were mop cloth mounts, a user manual, the robot itself, a power cord and the dock.

I located my Qrevo S Pro, aka “Richard”, in our hallway backed against the wall. This is a hard, wood floor situated between the lounge at the front of the house and the kitchen/diner to the rear. It’s recommended that the dock is positioned on a hard, flat floor and flat against the wall, with a minimum radius of 0.4m wide and 1.2m depth of non-obstructive space around it.

With the dock base attached to the main dock (it's removable for easier cleaning), power cord connected to the back of the dock, water tank filled up and the mop cloth mounted, all that’s left to do is download the app and follow the on-screen instructions.

The maiden voyage of the Qrevo S Pro will be to map the floor space that you want cleaned. If there are any rooms that you don’t want cleaned for whatever reason then just shut the door; our “Richard” soon got the hint.

Design and features

On paper, the Roborock Qrevo S Pro is packed full of features; precise mapping and obstacle avoidance, 18,500Pa suction and anti-tangle system, dual liftable spinning mops, 65-days without dustbag emptying, 45°C high temperature cleaning and 75°C warm air self drying.

The reality is no different.

It maps the space/s you want cleaned on the maiden voyage. It took our “Richard” a couple of attempts because a door to a room was shut during the mapping process and a few too many dining chairs (each with four legs) caused a bit too much of an obstacle course to navigate.

While the map doesn’t appear to update after each clean, certainly each cleaning course is different when “Richard” is working its way across the floors. With two young children in the house, there are always toys around – and the toy storage moves with it. This means that no two cleaning routes are the same, but “Richard” takes this in its stride and just cleans what it can get to by dodging any obstacles.

I have to admit that I don’t have a way to measure the suction being promised. However, I can hear that the suction is adjusted as “Richard” transitions between the carpets, rugs and hard flooring. I also can not see any hairs in a tangle on the roller bar or side brush.

It does also feature two mops that rotate when cleaning, and lift while vacuuming. It does look as though these mops are dragged across the carpet and rugs, but I haven’t noticed any dampness on its route to report.

After two weeks of testing “Richard” at least once-a-day I can see that both mop pads look (and smell) clean. I can not see any obvious staining and I’m satisfied that they will continue to clean the floor, rather than make it dirty again.

These two mop pads are positioned on the underside of the Roborock Qrevo S Pro, alongside the all-rubber main brush which, as we’ve explored, doesn’t get into a tangle with hair.

This main brush is nestled between two wheels with an enhanced omni-wheel featuring a built-in brush that aims to reduce maintenance. Furthermore, a side brush on the top left of the robot & mop combo will sweep crumbs and debris into the path of the main brush for banishing to the dustbag.

Flip over to the otherside and there are two buttons – “Home” and “Stop”. Both are self explanatory but "Stop” will ultimately pause the Qrevo S Pro mid-task and “Home” will send it back to base. Above these two buttons is a crumb catcher that can be accessed by lifting up the top cover. There's also the all-important Precisense LiDAR-based navigation system in a dome-like cap which will scan the space when creating a map.

Then, at either end of the vacuum & mop combo are structured light sensors that detect and steer away toys, socks and furniture – steer through, as I’ve found. Though I wouldn’t recommend it for fear of losing anything, it can be said that you may be able to get away from tidying before setting off the Qrevo S Pro.

Measuring h3.8 x w13.8in, the robot vacuum and mop will easily slip under most furniture and cupboards to clean those floors that don’t often see the light of day. It weighs just 0.7lbs also so it’s easy to lift should you need to move it or look underneath it for anything that may become lodged (like a sock).

The dock on the other hand measures h20.4 x w19.2 x d13.4in. This is where the Qrevo S Pro will empty, clean and recharge itself. It has a 4-litre clean water tank which can be easily lifted and removed for refilling. Similarly, the dirty water tank has the same capacity and ease of removal.

A dustbag is located at the front of the dock behind a cover. I’ve been testing our Qrevo S Pro, “Richard” for at least two weeks, and I’ve yet to replace the disposable dust bag (it’s estimated that it’ll need replacing every 65 days). This dust bag is pre-installed upon arrival.

App

To control the Roborock Qrevo S Pro I could either use the two buttons on top of the vacuum, or the app. The Roborock app has a greater amount of customisation and control so I used it to activate most cleans, unless it was a scheduled clean – something else that you can do in the app.

Once the map had been established, and I was satisfied that it had accurately sussed out the space, I could select a preferred cleaning mode for each room depending on the floor type. I could also select the room I wanted to clean if I didn’t want “Richard” to clean our entire ground floor, and set routines for more personalised cleaning sequences.

The map also updates after every clean, like it was learning the space. After a week of test, it also identified a threshold without any prompt from me and added this to the map.

At any point during a clean I could also “Pause” the clean or “Return to Base” through the app. If I wanted to hand over the control over to another human in the house then I could also share the device with them although, of course, anyone can just press a button on vacuum to start a clean.

I also found it helpful to receive notifications when the water tank needed to be refilled, or when a sock had become lodged. You can, of course, disable these notifications if you want to tone down your phone's activity. Alternatively, the Qrevo S Pro can connect with Matter, Alexa, Google Home and Apple Siri for hands-free control.

Performance

I’ve been using the Roborock Qrevo S Pro at least once per day for two weeks to vacuum the carpets and mop the hard floors, and I wouldn’t be without it.

It effortlessly removes the majority of debris from the floors which has ultimately saved me the time it takes to clean and saved on the effort of reaching for the vacuum cleaner and mop. Our “Richard” sensed the difference in flooring as it moved between carpets and hard flooring, adjusting the suction accordingly and lifting / dropping the spinning mops.

As it worked its way around the mapped floor space and there was a person or item in its path, "Richard" navigated around the obstruction and continued to clean the remainder of the space. It then returned to where the obstruction was to finish the clean before returning to base.

However, it was totally hopeless at banishing larger dried cereal to the dustbin; multigrain hoops were swept around in circles or swept away from the path of the roller. Similarly, it doesn’t scrub the floor, only lightly wets it, so wet wheat biscuits remain cemented on the floor (until I can scrub it off).

There were also a couple of instances that the robot dragged a small toy along the floor, so make sure to lift anything off the floor that you don’t want dragged, or banished into the dustbin. I also found that socks can become lodged in the roller so try to ensure that these are picked up before a clean too.

It's one of the more bulkier robot vacuum and mops that I have tested also, so it's a bit cumbersome when manouvering around furniture and seems to miss some of the floor area in the process. It's size also means that it can't always get down the sides of the sofa or, in my case, behind the hair chair in the kitchen which is next to the table unless I move it to be somewhere else in the way.

While it does remove the majority of debris from the floors, which is great, it does miss some. This seems to either be because the debris is on a textured rug so the 18,500Pa suction isn’t great enough, or the zig-zag cleaning pattern simply misses it.

The noise is also worth mentioning. I used a decibel meter reader app on my phone which measured; 70dB while emptying, 64dB while vacuuming, 52dB while mopping and 48dB while returning to base. It was quiet enough not to disturb us while vacuuming or mopping, but emptying was so loud that it temporarily drowned out the TV.

Maintenance

The Roborock Qrevo S Pro self-cleans so there is very little maintenance, although it will need a few things from you to keep in a working order.

For example, the water tank will need refilling every few days so it can keep mopping, and the dirty tank will require emptying every few days. You’ll know when to do this by the red light shown on the docking station, or a notification to your phone.

The dust bag will also need replacing every 65 days. These can be bought either direct from Roborock or Amazon for £31.99 (pack of 6). Speaking of dust, the dock and vacuum would also benefit from dust-down – especially, if like “Richard”, yours is in black.

Verdict

If you don’t have a robotic robot and mop, and you have a variety of floor types, then the Roborock Qrevo S Pro should be at the top of your wishlist. It is a mid-range price tag but a high-end device that’ll sweep away most daily debris, so it’s a bit of a steal in my eyes.

I’ve tested several robotic vacuums in the past which have carried a much higher price tag. This may be because technology is much more advanced or production costs have reduced but, even so, for £599 (when not on sale) it’ll save you the time and hassle of cleaning the floors at the end of each day – especially if you have children.

If you only have a robot vacuum cleaner or a robot mop, this would also be a good upgrade because it is suitable for all floor types; carpets, rugs, tiled, sealed wood and stone.

Alternatives to consider

If you have your heart set on a robot vacuum and mop but are after a greater suction power, like double that of the Roborock, then the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra is our top choice. Amazon Prime Day 2026 is on the horizon, but if you want my advice, you should shop for deals the week before, as this is often when you find the biggest discounts.

When we tested the Eufy Omni E25, we found it worked best on hardwood floors as its mopping technology is exemplary. It’s one of our favourite robot vacuum cleaners, and now at Amazon, the Eufy Omni E25 is at its lowest ever price so it’s a no-brainer.

So you’re considering a robot vacuum, and you’ve got a healthy budget. Well, Ecovacs has one it hopes challenges the best robot vacuum cleaners around. Say hello to the Deebot X12 OmniCyclone.

The X12 OmniCyclone is Ecovac’s latest flagship robot vacuum, sitting atop the firm’s extensive range of clever floor cleaners and boasting new technology to help justify its premium price tag. With standout premium models like the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra and Roborock Saros 20 already on the market, I expected seamless setup, mapping, cleaning and maintenance from the X12 – if it wants to mount a worthwhile challenge.

So, does its new FocusJet technology, along with its Ozmo Roller 3.0, Zero Tangle 4.0 and docking station features live up to the billing? I’ve put the Deebot X12 OmniCyclone through its paces to find out.

Price and availability

The Ecovacs Deebot X12 OmniCyclone price is £1,249/$1,499, placing it firmly in between its key competitors. The Dreame Matrix10 Ultra is slightly more expensive, while the Roborock is a touch cheaper.

That price includes the robot vacuum, docking station, and cleaning solution for the mop function. You can currently buy the X12 from Amazon.

Unboxing and set up

The Deebot X12 OmniCyclone arrives well packaged, although the station is packed with more plastic and polystyrene than I’d like to see for a product in 2026. The robot itself is packed in its own box within the larger package, and it features solely cardboard packing protection.

As well as the X12 robot and Omni station, you also get a base ramp that simply, but securely clips to the front of the front of the station, along with a bottle of cleaning solution, a bottle of heavy-duty cleaning solution, power cord and manual.

There’s also a couple of corner guards to help soften a couple of sharp corners on the front of the docking station. I was able to position the station in my laundry room, away from walkways, and with no small children to worry about, I didn’t see the need to stick these on. However, if you do have young children, or there’s a chance you might accidentally catch the docking station as you walk past, the inclusion of these rubber bumpers is a nice touch.

One thing to note is there’s a lot of protective film on both the OmniCyclone station and the robot itself, so take time to peel these all off, checking you’ve removed every piece.

A useful one-sheet quick start guide is included, giving you clear visual and written instructions on how to get the base setup, easily add water and cleaning solution to the correct reservoirs, download the app, and get the X12 connected to your Wi-Fi.

You’ll need to place the OmniCyclone station close to a power outlet, as the power cord is only a meter and a half long.

The free app on your smartphone provides step-by-step setup instructions, and is complimented by audible voice guidance from the X12 robot vacuum, keeping you updated every step of the way. It’s all very straightforward, and I applaud Ecovacs for that.

You can give your robot vacuum a name. I called my review unit Vinnie, allowing me to use this name with voice commands to send Vinnie out on a clean, or check things such as battery level.

Before I could get going the app notified me of an available firmware update. I had to place Vinnie in the docking station, ensuring the connector pads on the rear of the robot were against the connectors in the dock. I got audio confirmation from the X12 when I had it properly docked.

From there, the update downloaded and installed in five minutes, and you get the option to set future updates to download and install automatically overnight. Once this is complete, it’s time to send the Deebot X12 OmniCyclone out to map your home.

Mapping

The Deebot X12 OmniCyclone automatically maps your home – you just need to set it going and it’ll work out your layout. It does a really good job, but you need to ensure the pathways around your home are clear before it heads out, as I found when I set it off to map.

I placed the base station in my laundry room, and the X12 was able to manoeuvre its way around this small space and make its way into my main living area. Here it did well moving round my kitchen island, sofa, TV stand, plants and coffee table. It even did pretty well under the dining table, among the web of chair legs, although it did spend around 30 seconds working out how to free itself from between a few of the legs – it made it out in the end though.

All seemed to be going well, but instead of venturing into the hallway and then the lounge, the X12 returned to the base station, saying it had completed mapping.

That’s because as it made its way round the kitchen, my cat was blocking the door to the hallway as it watched suspiciously as the X12 trundled past it. Due to this feline blockade, the robot clearly assumed there was nothing worth investigating beyond it.

After I had gently ushered my cat out of the way, I sent the Deebot X12 OmniCyclone out on a fresh mapping run, and this time it managed to find its way into the hallway and lounge.

It completed the mapping task in five minutes, producing an impressive floor plan of my home, with each space colour coded and rooms auto-named – although the names can be easily edited in the app if it hasn’t got them quite right.

Carpets, rugs and mats were also automatically detected without my intervention, which means the X12 knows where to mop, and where not to mop.

You can also fine tune the map it's created as well, by moving walls, highlighting additional carpeted areas, setting no-spray zones, and creating virtual boundaries if you don’t want the robot going into certain areas.

Design and features

With the weight of a sizeable price tag on its shoulders, the Deebot is at least dressed for the occasion. Its slick, premium design looks modern, and the base station features a smart Deebot logo design on its top, adding to the premium aesthetic.

The base station and robot vacuum also feel premium, with a certain heft to them, and a well built finish that suggests they’re capable of years of loyal service.

I did find the glossy front section of the robot a bit of a dust and fingerprint magnet though, picking up cat hair and fluff as it trundled round my home. This isn’t a huge issue, but it can lead to the machine looking a little grubby after a while, not to mention potentially blocking the view for the AI sensors and cameras. Giving it a quick wipe with a cloth every now and to keep it looking smart.

You’ll need to find a decent chunk of space for the base station, as it’s bigger than some of the competition, chiefly due to its bagless design and powerful cyclone dust bin that sucks out debris from the robot’s bin with impressive force.

The design of the clean and dirty water tanks on top of the station have also been improved, with comfortable handles making it easy to remove and empty/refill them.

In a lot of ways, the features here are similar to those found on its predecessor, the Deebot X11 Omnicyclone, but there is one major new addition with the X12.

FocusJet is the firm’s latest technology, with the robot’s AI able to automatically detect heavy stains, spraying them with a cleaning solution from two nozzles on the front of the robot before starting a mopping routine. Ecovacs says this results in fewer passes required when mopping to remove stubborn stains, increasing the efficiency of the robot.

Unlike some of its mopping rivals that use flat, circular mop pads, the Deebot X12 OmniCyclone comes with the firm’s Ozmo Roller 3.0, a 27cm cylindrical roller mop that can extend from the side of the robot (Ecovacs calls this ‘TruEdge’) to get into corners and up to edges other bots might not be able to reach.

The roller is 50% longer than its predecessor (17.5cm) and can spin quicker at 220rpm (vs 200rpm on the X11) for a deeper clean.

Unlike the Dreame Matrix10, there aren’t dedicated roller mops for different surfaces - the Deebot makes do with the single roller. However, like other premium rivals, the base station here can clean the roller during cycles, and once a cleaning cycle has finished – ensuring your floors get a fresh clean each time.

The base station takes around three minutes to complete a mop washing cycle, and during that time it’s able to recharge the X12’s battery by up to 13%, ensuring the robot can mop larger areas without lengthy recharge breaks.

Another upgrade that arrives on the X12 is the Zero Tangle 4.0 main brush, designed to not get clogged up with hair thanks to an anti-tangle, which paired with 22,000Pa of suction power provides a suitable level of power – even though both the Dreame and Roborock offer greater suction.

This also wouldn’t be a premium robot vacuum in the year 2026 if AI wasn’t present. The Deebot Z12 OmniCyclone packs Yiko, an AI assistant you talk to to control cleans. Instructions can be very specific too, such as "please clean below the sofa in the living room."

The app also sports an AI agent mode, which can learn your habits and automatically adjust cleaning modes and scheduling, with the aim of seamlessly fitting into your household’s needs.

Maintenance

The OmniCyclone base station that comes with the Deebot X12 looks good, and is highly functional in its design. The clean and dirty water reservoirs are easy to remove and refill/empty, sliding out from the top of the station, while a small panel on the front left is easily removed to reveal the cleaning solution reservoirs for the mopping and FocusJet. These too, simply slide out and each have a removable lid to keep the contents secure.

The cyclone bin sits proudly in the centre of the station, and it’s easy to remove with a single latch that doubles as the carry handle, allowing you to remove it from the station. It then has a blue, spring-loaded slider on the side, that you slide down, opening the base of the bin and pushing the contents out.

I like how easy this was to empty, and it kept my hands clean. Plus there are no dust bags to contend with, making things even easier. I also found the bin to be a good size, capable of holding multiple full cleans of my home before I needed to empty it.

Meanwhile, the station also cleans the mop brush, leaving you to just deal with the dirty water it generates from this clean.

The only small downside is I found the robot dropped debris on the base station ramp after every cleaning cycle – which meant I had to manually tidy it up each time. It’s not a huge issue, and it’s not like I had to chase it round the house picking up after it, but it was a little frustrating.

Performance

Day-to-day, the Deebot X12 OmniCyclone is easy to live with. Set it off to vacuum the house and it will diligently do so, trundling through your home collecting debris in its path.

Like many robot vacuums, it’s much quieter than a traditional vacuum (usually 65-85dB), and I measured its vacuuming volume at 51-54dB on hard floor and 55-65dB on carpet. It’s louder on carpet as the X12 automatically detects the floor type and increases suction to ensure the same level of clean through the fibres.

It means you’re still able to have a conversation with someone without shouting at them, or watch TV without having to flick the volume up much, as the X12 moves round the room.

You get four levels of vacuum suction, however for the most part I stuck with ‘standard’ (aka level 2), which managed to collect light debris such as crumbs and cat hair from both hard floor and carpet.

For the times when I went longer between vacuum cycles, or when I’d had multiple guests visit in a short space of time, I’d switch the power to strong. If you really want to get fine debris up, there is a Max (level 4) setting, although this is much louder and uses more battery power.

The X12 did a good job of moving around my home, although there were occasions where it would nudge a cat bowl, wrestle a lightweight mat by the door, and bump into a table leg or two. It never got stuck though, and I was impressed with how it always worked out a way to free itself from a tight spot.

It was also able to handle the 2cm step between my hardfloor hallway and carpeted lounge, applying additional power to the wheels to help it boost over the ledge and continue its clean.

What also impressed me was this robot vacuum’s low profile, and its ability to continue under low-sitting units where there was only a few millimetres of vertical clearance. It even has a light that will automatically turn on if its under a large piece of furniture and the cameras need a better view of what’s around it.

It can take you by surprise, as its relatively quiet operation means I sometimes forgot it was moving round my home, only to be slightly shocked when it tickled my feet. Avoid them, it did not.

It took between 60 and 70 minutes to clean my 40m² home, and it was able to do it all on a single charge, with around 40% battery remaining.

During this time it would return to the dock two or three times to empty the X12’s onboard bin into the larger bin in the OmniCyclone station. It’s this emptying which is the noisiest part of the whole process, so if you’re thinking about running the Deebot X12 overnight, the bin emptying could wake you up.

While the X12 did a good job collecting fine debris (think crumbs, pet hair, dust and dirt) on its regular vacuum cycles, it struggled when I tasked it with more substantial clean-ups.

I dropped 20g of rice on both hard flooring and carpet, and the X12 collected 98% of the grains on the latter. That sounds like a good result, but the remaining 0.5g it left behind were noticeable to the eye and under foot, which isn’t particularly useful if you’re looking for a hassle-free clean up of a spill.

Things got much worse then I repeated the same hard floor and carpet pick-up tests with 20g of Cheerios breakfast cereal. Instead of running over the scattering of multigrain rings, the Deebot X12 actively avoids the denser patches of the ‘spill’ and vacuums around it.

As for the rings it did manage to collect, when it returned to the base station it wasn’t able to remove all of them from the robot’s bin. This meant I had to manually clear it out.

This was disappointing to see, as it reduces the vacuum’s convenience as you can’t reliably call on it to tidy up larger debris you might have dropped on the floor.

The X12’s mopping function works more consistently, with the roller mop providing even coverage across my hard floors, and not leaving them overly wet. That means the clean floors dry quickly.

Deebot’s TruEdge feature sees the roller mop extend from the side of the unit, allowing it to clean up close to skirting boards, corners, and other harder to reach areas.

The X12 did a great job of automatically detecting carpet and lifting the roller mop up and out of the way when traveling over this surface. You’ll find the robot returns to the base station at least once during a mopping cycle to clean the roller, helping to avoid dragging dirt around your floors.

This process takes three minutes, and the X12 fast-charges during this time. I saw it replenish 14% of its battery during its washing cycles, which is a nice feature to ensure it doesn’t run out of charge mid-cycle.

It also performed well with tougher stains, like a dried ketchup spill, with the company’s FocusJet technology detecting the mess and effectively spraying it with cleaning solution before it attempted to mop.

The spill was cleaned up, with the X12 taking a few passes over the mess to ensure it got it all. Once mopping is complete, the X12 returns to the base station for another clean and then a roller mop drying cycle. It’s an impressive solution that I found worked very well.

Verdict

Did my floors look cleaner and feel fresher underfoot after the Deebot X12 OmniCyclone completed each full vacuum and mop cleaning cycle? Absolutely.

With two cats in our home, having feline hair regularly collected, food crumbs swept up, and muddy paw prints scrubbed away near the cat flap, the X12 delivered the service I was expecting for routine cleans. However, its vacuuming performance isn’t flawless.

If you’re after a robot vacuum that can reliably handle larger debris, you’ll want to look at the comparably priced Roborock and Draeme models as they offer better performance here.

The app is excellent though, and I found the automatic mapping of my home very impressive. The quiet operation (bin emptying aside) also meant the X12 could go about its business without interfering with my day – although it might nibble your feet if you’re milling around a room while it’s on its cycle.

Mopping performance was impressive, and the FocusJet tech did appear to help the X12 clear up more stubborn strains. If you’re after a premium robot vacuum and mop that can reliably clean your floors' general dust and dirt on a regular basis, the X12 delivers.

Alternatives to consider

The X12 has tough competition, and there are two other flagship robot vacuums and mops that are just ahead of the Deebot thanks to better vacuuming.

The Roborock Saros 20 is one of the most impressive robot vacuum and mop systems we’ve tested, combining powerful performance with well-executed features and technologies. It’s expensive, but if you’re after a high-performance robot that requires minimal input, this is one of the best options.

Meanwhile, the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra is one of the most advanced and user-friendly robot vacuums around, with cutting-edge tech and effortless automation, all controlled through the excellent Dreamehome app. The only real downsides are the high price and short power cable.

Another week, another new Shark floorcare launch! This time, Shark is expanding its Shark CarpetForce line-up with two new models designed to deep clean your rugs and carpets – and they may have just solved the biggest problem I have with traditional carpet cleaners.

2026 has been a huge year for Shark so far, with the brand releasing new PowerDetect vacuum cleaners, a portable, handheld fan and even a leaf blower! Its latest launches go back to its floorcare roots, and caters to carpeted homes and pet owners in the US.

The new Shark CarpetForce line-up includes the Shark CarpetForce Upright Carpet Cleaner, and the Shark CarpetForce HairPro. Both models have been given a new lightweight, compact design which tackles one of the most overlooked problems with traditional carpet cleaners.

I’ve tried many floorcare products in my time as Home Editor for T3, and I’ve always found carpet cleaners to be extraordinarily heavy and bulky. The new Shark CarpetForce launches have solved this issue with their slimmer, lighter formats, making it easier to move and carry them around your home.

Starting with the Shark CarpetForce Upright Carpet Cleaner, this model offers six times deeper cleaning than vacuuming, and comes with two customisable modes – Deep Clean and Express Clean. The former is designed for heavy messes while the latter is for quick cleans that dry even quicker.

The Shark CarpetForce Upright Carpet Cleaner uses a new DirtDisrupt brushroll which works at high speed and has multi-angled brushes that extract embedded dirt. It also comes with Shark’s Deep Clean Ultra with Stain Guardian formula that removes stains and odours.

The second launch is the Shark CarpetForce HairPro which pet owners will definitely appreciate. Pet hair – no matter how short – gets everywhere, especially into carpets, but the Shark CarpetForce HairPro uses HairPro technology to pick up three times more pet hair without clogging the brushroll.

The Shark CarpetForce HairPro has many of the same features as the other new CarpetForce model, including its lightweight design, dirt pick-up, customisable modes, and faster drying time. Where it differs is its PowerFins brushroll which offers continuous cleaning contact for picking up trapped dirt and hidden pet hair.

The new Shark CarpetForce cleaners are available to buy now, with the CarpetForce Upright Carpet Cleaner priced at $199.99, and the CarpetForce HairPro costing $229.99. As of writing, UK pricing and availability hasn’t been announced yet.

Shark has launched its new Luxe Collection of its PowerDetect cordless and robot vacuum cleaners. Designed to blend into your home’s interior, Shark has reimagined its PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty and its PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-in-1 Vac and Mop in eight stunning colours – and they actually make me want to display my vacuum cleaner.

Let’s be honest, vacuum cleaners aren’t exactly the most attractive things in the world, and are typically hidden away in airing cupboards until they need to be used. But Shark’s new Luxe Collection is meant to “live beautifully in your home” while also offering a professional clean.

For UK and US shoppers, the Shark PowerDetect Speed Luxe Collection Clean & Empty Cordless Vacuum – try saying that three times fast – is now available in four colourways that are more natural than its previous iteration. Instead of harsh black and whites, Shark’s Luxe colours are inspired by soft earth tones and neutrals that are complemented by satin metallic accents.

The Shark PowerDetect Speed now comes in Walnut, Oatstone, Sagewood and Harbour Slate colours. The Oatstone shade is my personal favourite, as the main parts of the vacuum are neutral and muted, but there are hints of gold on the design that make it look really luxurious – I can’t believe I just said that about a vacuum, but here we are!

Aside from the new colours, the Luxe edition of the Shark PowerDetect Speed still has the same cleaning features as before. This includes four detection technologies that detect dirt, carpets, edges and cleaning direction, and Shark’s popular Anti Hair Wrap technology that prevents hair from getting tangled in the brushroll.

The Shark PowerDetect Speed comes with an auto-empty charging dock which empties the vacuum’s bin and charges it for you. The dock also comes in the new colourways. The Shark PowerDetect Speed Luxe Collection is available to buy now for £499.99 / $499.99 at SharkNinja.

For just US customers, Shark has also given the Luxe treatment to its Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal 2-in-1 Vac & Mop. The robot vacuum and mop now comes in Espresso, Ivory, Deep Harbor and Evergreen colours, with the latter being exclusive on SharkNinja’s website.

Out of all of the colours, the Evergreen is my pick, as it looks like it’s stepped out of a forest, and has stunning hints of gold. The robot vacuum and mop has UV light detection to find and clean hidden messes, and uses intelligent sensors, lasers and cameras to map your home. The Luxe edition of the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal is available for $1,299.

Dreame has just debuted its new robot vacuum cleaner line-up at its latest launch event. Taking a page out of Eufy’s book, Dreame has announced its new Cyber X robot vacuum which climbs up and down stairs, and after seeing it in action, I think it finally solves the biggest problem these types of floor cleaners have – here’s what you need to know.

Clearly 2026 is the year for Dreame, as the brand has released tons of new home appliances, including its exciting new X60 series, featuring AI-powered robot vacuums and mops. I recently got to see them in action at Dreame’s Paris launch event that took place this week, and I think the new Cyber X is what we should all be excited about.

The Dreame Cyber X has been dubbed the ‘world’s first bionic quad-track stair climbing robot vacuum’. It looks a lot like the Eufy Mars Walker which debuted at IFA 2025, in that it has a similar design where the main robot vacuum slots into a carrier which then transports it up and down stairs.

Seeing the Dreame Cyber X climb stairs was extremely impressive. It can climb slopes up to 42° and tackle different types of staircases, including spiral and carpet. Where it shines though is descending stairs as it can easily climb down on its bionic quad-track system without sliding or falling down, thanks to its rubber tracks and triple brakes.

The Dreame Cyber X uses 3D ToF Vision to map your stairs, and it can support up to four floors at a time. It also has obstacle recognition so it can avoid objects up to 35cm, and it’ll pause if it sees someone coming down the stairs while it’s climbing or descending.

My issue with stair-climbing robots – other than the fear that I’d be woken in the night by one coming up the stairs! – is that it goes up and down stairs without actually cleaning them. The Dreame Cyber X has solved this though, as the robot vacuum will pause on the stairs to clean it while it descends.

It was quite strange seeing the Dreame Cyber X clean the stairs. It almost hovers on them while its small dual brushes get to work. But the cleaning is powerful with 6,000Pa suction on offer. It also has a 5,200mAh battery for multi-level cleaning, and is compatible with the brand’s X60 Pro vacuums.

Pricing and availability on the Dreame Cyber X has yet to be announced but I hope it arrives soon, as I want to see how it fares amongst its other climbing competitors.

Dreame has finally launched the Z30 Pro Aqua in the UK, its latest wet and dry cordless vacuum cleaner. The Dreame Z30 Pro Aqua is a 2-in-1 floor cleaner which powerfully and expertly removes stains, but it’s the self-cleaning station that I’m most intrigued by.

Dreame’s latest flagship model, the Dreame Z30 Pro Aqua takes a page out of Dyson and Shark’s books with its new floor cleaner that offers both wet and dry cleaning in one device. It uses an AquaCycle 2.0 system to spray water and scrub stains, and vacuuming up dirt simultaneously.

Part of the AquaCycle 2.0 is a brush that offers a four-phase cleaning system – spray, scrape, scrub and suction. For the vacuuming, the Dreame Z30 Pro Aqua has a powerful 28,000Pa motor that sucks up dirt, dust, pet hair and other debris, and can cover up to 290m².

Within the brush of the Dreame Z30 Pro Aqua is TangleCut technology – similar to Shark’s Anti Hair Wrap technology. Instead of pet and human hair getting stuck in and around the brush, the Dreame Z30 Pro Aqua has dual motorised scrapers that cut hair while vacuuming to avoid tangles and blockages.

Shifting over to mopping, the Dreame Z30 Pro Aqua has a three-zone water management system that separates clean and dirty water, and solid debris into different compartments – a la the Dyson Wash G1. The vacuum also has a filtration system that captures dust and other particles to keep the air in your home cleaner and more hygienic.

But the real star of the show is the Dreame Z30 Pro Aqua’s self-cleaning system. It comes with a base station that automatically washes and dries the roller of the brush. It dries it using 70° hot air so the vacuum-mop is ready to go for your next clean.

The design of the Dreame Z30 Pro Aqua is versatile, with its 90° foldable rod that gets into hard-to-reach areas, and a 180° rotating head. The vacuum offers a 90 minute runtime, and comes with accessories to suit all types of stains and surfaces, including furniture.

The Dreame Z30 Pro Aqua is available to buy for £549 at Dreame and Amazon.

Dreame has today announced its most powerful and intelligent robot vacuum series yet, introducing major upgrades across cleaning performance, AI navigation and full-home coverage. It’s the brand’s first major robot vacuum-focused launch in a while, especially after its huge ecosystem expansion stole the spotlight at CES back in January.

The new lineup includes three models – the X60 Pro Ultra Complete, the X60 Pro Ultra Matrix and the X60 Pro Master. Whilst each model is designed around slightly different user needs, together they form what Dreame is calling its first “full-space cleaning solution”.

Full pricing and availability details for the X60 Pro Series will be revealed during Dreame’s official launch event on 27th May.

The headline model is the X60 Pro Ultra Complete, which introduces several major upgrades over previous Dreame robot vacuums. One of the biggest additions is the company’s new Dual UltraExtend Arm system, allowing the side brush to extend by up to 12cm and the mop pad by up to 18cm.

The X60 Pro Ultra Complete is also equipped with Dreame’s new AI OmniSight System 3.0. Using dual 120-degree AI cameras and upgraded navigation technology, the system can reportedly recognise more than 320 object types, detect obstacles as small as 10mm and react within 0.1 seconds. Dreame has also added a new blue light detection system capable of identifying transparent liquid spills and automatically switching the robot into a mop-only cleaning mode.

The X60 Pro Ultra Complete features an enormous 42,000Pa suction level – the highest Dreame has ever offered – alongside the brand’s upgraded HyperStream Detangling DuoBrush 2.0 system and a Thermal Deep Mop System capable of cleaning mop pads using 100°C hot water. Dreame says this setup is designed to tackle stubborn stains more effectively, whilst also reducing hair tangling and improving hygiene during mopping.

The X60 Pro Ultra Matrix and X60 Pro Master share many of the same core technologies, but each introduces additional features aimed at different types of users. The Ultra Matrix includes a multi-mop switching dock with separate mop pads and cleaning solutions for different rooms, similar to the previous Matrix10 Ultra, helping reduce cross-contamination between spaces like kitchens and bathrooms.

Meanwhile, the X60 Pro Master focuses more heavily on convenience, featuring an automatic refill and drainage system housed inside a much smaller docking station designed to fit more discreetly into modern homes.

Alongside the X60 Pro Series, Dreame has also confirmed the official launch of Cyber X – the world’s first bionic quad-track stair-climbing robot vacuum. The Cyber X is designed to move across multiple levels of a home, and it can reportedly handle straight, spiral, open-riser and L-shaped stairs, climb slopes up to 42 degrees and overcome obstacles up to 35cm high.

Dreame says Cyber X can climb a stair in just 27 seconds thanks to its quad-track climbing system, whilst industrial-grade rubber tracks and a triple brake system help improve grip and overall safety.

The robot originally debuted at IFA 2025, but now returns with major upgrades and an official launch, with more details also expected during next week’s event.

Kärcher has launched two new hard floor cleaners designed to completely rethink the traditional mop and bucket. Instead of simply pushing dirty water around, these machines vacuum, mop and dry floors in a single pass, offering a faster and far more efficient way to keep hard floors spotless.

The brand is already well known for its range of some of the best pressure washers on the market, so it’s clear Kärcher has taken its cleaning expertise and reworked it for a more indoor-focused home solution.

The Kärcher FCV 3 and Kärcher FCV 4 sit at different price points depending on what buyers need. The FCV 3 is priced at £269.99, whilst the more advanced FCV 4 comes in at £359.99. Both are available to buy via Kärcher’s online store and Amazon.

The FCV 3 vacuums, mops and dries at the same time, using HygienicSpin technology to remove up to 99% of bacteria. A dual-tank system ensures only fresh water is applied to floors, whilst coverage of up to 130m² makes it well suited to everyday cleaning in busy households.

It also uses Always-Clean Flow technology to continuously refresh the water on the rollers, whilst an internal scraper removes dirt and debris at the same time. Spinning at 550rpm, it delivers strong scrubbing power to lift stubborn stains while using far less water than a traditional mop.

Floors are left dry in around 120 seconds, and the lightweight design makes it easy to manoeuvre around furniture and edges. Once cleaning is done, the SystemClean cycle flushes the machine in just 80 seconds to keep it fresh and odour-free.

The FCV 4 is Kärcher’s most intelligent hard floor cleaner yet, introducing DynamicControl dirt sensing technology that automatically adjusts suction and water flow depending on how dirty the floor is. With a longer 45-minute runtime and coverage of up to 200m², plus a VisionClean display and multiple cleaning modes, it’s designed for larger homes and more intensive cleaning sessions.

It also features a twin-tank system to ensure only clean water reaches the floor, whilst its sensors continuously optimise performance for the best results. A brushless motor supports longer runtime and durability, and additional features like StairAssist mode and the VisionClean display add extra convenience and control.

Like the FCV 3, it uses HygienicSpin technology to remove up to 99% of bacteria and includes a SystemClean self-flush cycle, along with machine-washable rollers and DuoPure filtration for easy maintenance.

In 2024, Shark released what quickly became our favourite cordless vacuum cleaner of the year – the Shark PowerDetect Pet. At the time, it felt like it was operating in a completely different category when it came to performance, innovative features and Shark’s clever DirectionDetect cleaning technology.

Since then, plenty of other brands have jumped onto similar ideas, meaning the PowerDetect doesn’t feel quite as groundbreaking anymore, but there’s no denying it was a real game changer when it first arrived.

Now, Shark is back with an upgraded version in the form of the Shark PowerDetect Speed, so naturally, we were excited to put its new features to the test. It wasn't long before I realised the brand has successfully done it again, delivering another range of smart innovations that could just knock the original to the side.

Price and availability

The Shark PowerDetect Speed comes in three different variants. The flagship model includes the Auto-Empty Base and costs £500/$500, which is the version I've been testing.

If you’d prefer something a little cheaper, there’s also a version without the Auto-Empty Base for £400/$430, alongside a Pet Edition that includes Shark’s FurFins Pet Tool for tackling stubborn pet hair. That model costs £430, although it’s currently only available in the UK.

At the time of writing, the PowerDetect Speed without the Auto-Empty Base is heavily discounted on Shark’s website by a rather generous £170, so it’s definitely worth checking out if you don’t mind emptying the dustbin more frequently.

Unboxing and set up

As with most Shark cordless vacuums, the PowerDetect Speed arrives in a surprisingly compact and lightweight box. Everything inside is packaged using recyclable materials and paper wrapping for the smaller accessories, which helps keep things relatively eco-friendly.

Inside the box, you’ll find the main vacuum body, the primary floorhead, the Flexology wand, charging post and dock base. Setup was incredibly straightforward – all I had to do was click the charging post into the dock and attach the vacuum components together. The whole process only took a few minutes and felt very self-explanatory, although there’s also a quick-start guide printed directly onto the box if you need it.

The only other setup step involved inserting the anti-odour cartridge into the dock, which was just as simple as it sounds. After that, I popped the PowerDetect Speed onto the Auto-Empty dock to charge and started digging into the specs.

Design and features

It’s immediately clear that Shark has designed the PowerDetect Speed to feel slimmer and lighter than some of its previous cordless models, whilst still retaining the powerful cleaning technology the PowerDetect range is known for. It weighs around 3.5kg, and the new Ultramarine finish feels more stylish than earlier models.

Like many recent Shark vacuums, the PowerDetect Speed uses the brand’s Flexology wand design, allowing the vacuum tube to bend so you can clean underneath sofas and low furniture without crouching down. The floorhead itself also fairly low-profile, helping it glide into tighter spaces more easily.

Depending on the model you choose, Shark’s Auto-Empty system can automatically empty dust and debris into a larger sealed container after each clean. Shark says it can hold up to 45 days’ worth of dirt before needing emptying, whilst also charging the vacuum and storing spare attachments neatly in one place. The onboard dustbin only offers a 0.5-litre capacity, but the larger 2-litre dock capacity more than makes up for this.

One of the standout features remains Shark’s PowerDetect Intelligence system. This combines four separate detection technologies – Floor Detect, Edge Detect, Dirt Detect and Direction Detect – which automatically adjust suction and brushroll performance depending on what the vacuum senses in front of it.

This was one of the most exciting things about the original PowerDetect in my opinion, so I’m really glad Shark has kept it here. This also allows the vacuum to detect dirt levels, floor types, edges and corners, boosting power exactly where it’s needed without you having to manually switch settings yourself.

Shark has also included its TurboDrive Detect floorhead and Self-Cleaning Brushroll technology, both of which help improve pickup across carpets and hard floors whilst preventing hair wrap from building around the brush.

The vacuum also introduces Shark’s new 'Reveal' technology, which uses a precision-angled cyan beam to highlight hidden dust on hard floors. It’s more of a blue light compared to Shark’s usual white headlights, but it does a great job of revealing tiny particles you’d otherwise never notice. Cleverly, the light automatically changes back to white when the vacuum detects carpet through its Floor Detect technology.

Battery life comes in at around 60 minutes on a full charge in Eco mode, which isn’t the best we've seen but is still perfectly respectable for a cordless vacuum. The six-hour charging time is a little longer than I’d ideally like, but again, it’s fairly standard for this category.

The LCD display is another nice addition, showing the Dirt Detect system working in real time, changing colour depending on how much debris the vacuum detects and how much suction power it’s applying. The screen also displays charging information, although I would’ve loved to see the battery shown as a percentage rather than a simple icon. That’s admittedly a fairly minor complaint, but it’s something I’ve appreciated on rival models.

Performance

Overall, I’ve been really impressed with the PowerDetect Speed and far from disappointed with the successor to my current favourite cordless vacuum. Cleaning performance is exceptional, and the suction power is still amongst the best I’ve tested.

A lot of this comes down to Shark’s detection technology, but it really does make a noticeable difference in day-to-day cleaning. You never have to think about changing settings between different floor types because the vacuum handles it all automatically. There’s something reassuring about knowing it’s already adjusted itself correctly for the surface underneath, which not only improves cleaning performance but should also help protect the vacuum long term.

My home is primarily hard flooring, but the PowerDetect Speed also handled carpets and rugs extremely well. It moved smoothly across a wide range of surfaces without feeling too heavy or awkward to manoeuvre.

The Flexology wand is another huge plus, allowing you to bend the vacuum underneath furniture without having to drag things out of the way first. Combined with the lightweight design, it makes the whole vacuum feel very easy to use, and would make a good choice for anyone who struggles with mobility.

The attachment selection is well judged too, feeling useful without being excessive. The 20cm Duster-Crevice Tool and Motorised Hand Tool were both brilliant for tackling smaller corners, upholstery and awkward spaces, and I found myself reaching for them regularly. I also really like that they store neatly on the dock itself, keeping everything tidy and cohesive.

One of the biggest benefits of Shark’s Auto-Empty dock is how little maintenance is actually required. You only need to empty the dust container when it’s full, and the dock conveniently displays a warning light when it’s time to do so.

Emptying it works much like any other cordless vacuum, although I’d definitely recommend placing the bin as far inside your household bin as possible, as the dust can come out in quite a dramatic cloud. Still, considering you may only need to do this every 45 days or so, it’s hardly a major issue.

I actually found myself emptying it more frequently simply out of habit, but it was never anywhere close to full, so I can absolutely believe Shark’s claims that it could comfortably last closer to two months in many homes.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Auto-Empty function itself isn’t exactly quiet. The dock goes through a three-step emptying cycle after each clean, which takes roughly 30 seconds in total. Shark has tried to soften this slightly with a 'Quiet Mode', which does help a little, but it’s still something you’ll definitely hear.

Verdict

The Shark PowerDetect Speed successfully builds on everything that made the original PowerDetect Pet such a great cordless vacuum, whilst refining the design into something noticeably lighter and easier to use. Its intelligent detection technology remains unmatched, automatically adapting suction and cleaning performance across different floor types with impressive accuracy. Combined with excellent suction power, thoughtful design features and Reveal lighting, plus the convenience of the Auto-Empty dock, this is easily one of the best polished cordless vacuums Shark has released to date. The dock can be noisy and the battery display could be more detailed, but overall, the PowerDetect Speed delivers flagship-level cleaning performance with very few compromises.

Alternatives to consider

I still absolutely recommend the original Shark PowerDetect Pet, especially since it remains one of the best cordless vacuums around thanks to its excellent performance and smart features. However, the Shark PowerDetect Speed keeps everything that made the original so impressive whilst packaging it into a noticeably lighter design. If that sounds beneficial for your home, then it’s definitely worth the upgrade.

Another strong alternative is the Dyson V16 Piston Animal, which offers very similar smart cleaning features, although without the convenience of an Auto-Empty dock. Even so, for me, Shark still comes out on top day to day, and the PowerDetect Speed remains my personal pick.

Despite only launching last month, the new Shark PowerDetect Speed has already received a huge price cut on Shark’s online store. Originally priced at £399.99, it’s now down to just £229.99 – which is probably one of the fastest discounts we’ve seen on one of Shark’s newest models.

It follows the hugely popular Shark PowerDetect Pet, which currently holds the top spot in our best cordless vacuum guide after earning a five-star review. The new model still includes the brand’s PowerDetect Intelligence technology, but packages everything into a more compact design weighing just 3.5kg.

The deal we’ve highlighted here is for the version without the auto-empty base, as that model is still sitting at full price. That said, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this version, and it’s probably the better choice if you don’t mind emptying the bin yourself every so often.

The PowerDetect Speed also includes Shark’s Flexology design, allowing the wand to bend so you can easily clean underneath furniture without crouching down. Alongside that is the TurboPro Detect brushroll for deeper pickup across carpets and hard floors, as well as a Self-Cleaning Brushroll designed to prevent hair wrap during cleaning.

iRobot has unveiled a huge expansion of its Roomba lineup for 2026, launching eight new robot vacuum models at once. The new range puts a major focus on slimmer designs and smarter navigation, with several of the robots now up to 25% smaller than previous generations.

Leading the lineup are the new Roomba Max 715 and 775 models, which are designed for larger homes and more demanding cleaning jobs. Both offer up to 30,000Pa suction power, alongside upgraded pet hair pickup, improved filtration and more advanced roller mopping technology.

The full range will begin rolling out across on iRobot's online store from mid-2026. UK pricing starts at £229 for the entry-level Roomba 115 and reaches £799 for the flagship Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot.

At the more affordable end of the range sits the new Roomba 115, which has been designed for apartments and smaller homes alongside the recently launched Roomba Mini. It focuses more on simple everyday maintenance, offering up to 15,000Pa suction power and compact smart navigation.

Most of the major upgrades arrive within the new Roomba Plus lineup, which includes the Roomba Plus 415, 515, 575, 615 and 675 Combo Robots. These models combine vacuuming and mopping in a single unit, whilst suction power jumps considerably depending on the model, ranging from 20,000Pa all the way up to 30,000Pa.

Some of the higher-end Plus models also introduce iRobot’s most advanced mopping features yet. The Roomba Plus 615 and 675 now use roller mopping systems with heated water scrubbing and hot-spray pre-treatment designed to tackle dried-on mess far more effectively. According to iRobot, the mopping system can heat water up to 60°C, whilst a new tangle-free brush setup should also help reduce maintenance over time.

T3’s Eufy Omni S2 Robot Vacuum review in a sentence: A brilliant all-round solution that can tackle a variety of floor coverings with little in the way of supervision.

It’s taken a while to appear, but after some fine-tuning, the Eufy Omni S2 Robot Vacuum is finally upon us. This premium product covers all of the basics, but Eufy has engineered in plenty of new features and functions to attract buyers who are already spoilt for choice. In fact, when it comes to the best robot vacuums, there is a dizzying array of models to choose from.

But, I’d say the Eufy Omni S2 Robot Vacuum is a great option if you’re keen to have a machine that can do a bit of everything, rather than the ‘little and often’ cleaning carried out by cheaper models with lesser specifications. The Eufy Omni S2 has a bumper specification that includes 30,000 Pa AeroTurbo suction, intelligent carpet cleaning that adapts to different piles, HydroJet mopping, which is self-cleaning and the ability to bypass over 200 obstacles in its path.

There is also edge-to-edge cleaning, a low-maintenance base station that offers 12-in-1 convenience so that emptying only needs to be done after 68 days. Meanwhile, Eufy has added a neat additional feature, which is a built-in diffuser for keeping things fresh around the house. Add in everyday necessities including anti-tangle brushes and the ability to customise its mapping capabilities to suit all kinds of layouts and the package looks like a very strong one.

After spending weeks with the Eufy Omni S2, these are my honest thoughts.

The Eufy Omni S2 Robot Vacuum sits at the top end of the pricing spectrum, mainly because it packs so many features and functions. The RRP for this beauty is $1,599 in the US and £1,599 for the UK market. It can be purchased directly from Eufy.com or via Amazon, depending on your personal preference.

Anyone buying a robot vacuum with such a sizeable price tag attached is right to expect all of the bells and whistles that come with a premium product. The Eufy Omni S2 Robot Vacuum might be expensive, but this low-maintenance machine with multi-function features is impressive and, best of all, able to tackle all types of surfaces including hard floors including wood, laminate and marble. Equally, it’s able to handle carpets of different pile types and adjusts performance accordingly.

The other boon here is its low-maintenance design. Once tanks are filled, the appliance can work quite happily and can be controlled by the very good app or voice control. I was impressed by the 30,000 Pa Aero Turbo suction, but the floor mopping credentials looked even better.

In particular, the stain removal potential sounded really good with a meaty downward pressure of 1.5kg, 29cm of cleaning coverage and a 32-hole self-washing mop sounding very impressive. On top of that, Eufy also reckons the Omni S2 delivers 99.99% sterilisation during operation by disinfecting its self-clean mop for up to 5 days during normal use. This is done using hot water up to 60 degrees and then drying the roller with 55 degrees of heat.

One thing that slightly bugs me with multi-function robot vacuums is that many now come with base stations that are big and, often, not exactly great to look at. Many manufacturers have attempted to jazz up the design a bit to make them look better around the home. Now, Eufy has gone a step further with a design that is certainly striking and is also quite funky to look at.

What I really like about Eufy is its supplementary app and software, which in my experience works well and proves to be dependable during daily use. There’s nothing worse than having headaches during the setup process and, thankfully, with eufy I’ve never had any problems.

Additionally, mapping rooms is made straightforward thanks to the well-engineered software that seems able to cope with complex room shapes and obstacles without fuss. Indeed, the 3D MatrixEye 2.0 system can identify obstacles right down to a size of just 1cm, which should mean it’ll even cope with chunks of LEGO and the like if you can’t be bothered to have a quick pick up session before it gets underway.

As with any premium, multi-function robot vacuum, the Eufy Omni S2 promised much, so I was curious if it would live up to my expectations. The appliance does take a little while to configure and I’d say it’s worthwhile looking through the instructions in order to get things right first time. Out of the box, there was also some building to do, with installation and filling of the cleaning tanks, along with configuration of the app. As mentioned earlier, though, Eufy does make the latter aspect a doddle to get through. Thumbs up on that front.

After mapping my floorplan, using the great app, I first tried the machine on a mix of carpets. I’ve often been left feeling a bit deflated by the ability of robot vacuums to look and feel like they’ve done a good job on carpets. However, this model packs Eufy’s AeroTurbo functionality, which did seem to do a great job on a variety of piles. The Omni S2 adapts depending on the height of the pile, up to 5cm in fact, and increases suction as it does this.

Fluffy rugs are still a bit of a bridge too far, although because this machine is ‘smart’ it’ll tackle one with, say, a tassle at the end by bypassing that bit and starting where the pile is less problematical. Overall, the suction and ability to not get bogged down by tangles of hair in the rollers, were very good. Plus, the robot packs the obligatory AI tech that enables it to avoid potential tricky obstacles, which I thought worked as well as I’d expected it to.

While the suction and vacuum capabilities of the Eufy Omni S2 were largely spot-on, the roller mopping part of the appliance was equally appealing. As someone whose house needs regular laminate flooring once overs, this was a big part of the reason for considering this robot vacuum. The problem I always have is the way my laminate floors are susceptible to high moisture levels, so I’m always on the lookout for a machine that can mop effectively, but without using too much water.

The roller mop system did seem very impressive. There’s a dual-scraper design within the robot's body that removes muck from the roller as it works and the Omni S2 also seemed really good at getting grunge into the collection tank, rather than letting it recirculate back into the roller. The extra downward pressure was effective on something like a jam stain, requiring only a single pass to get the job done. I think it’d prove very useful for anyone with younger kids, unruly pets or messy partners to deal with.

An added bonus feature with the Eufy Omni S2 was its built-in fragrance dispenser. There’s a little area on the robot vacuum itself where fragrances including Citrus and Basil, Bamboo and Sage or Bergamot and Lychee can be added to deliver a whiff of freshness around the house. I’m not normally a fan of these things, but the Eufy Omni S2 dispenses it without leaving an overbearing smell afterwards, so anyone who loves a hint of freshness might find this a real boon. Again, folks with less than savoury pooches around the house might get best value from that.

The Eufy Omni S2 Robot Vacuum is a power-packed appliance that covers all bases when it comes to vacuuming around the home. Suction is great, the mopping and stain removal proves very dependable and, overall, it can be left to its own devices to get the job done.

Occasional maintenance is needed and the filters will need changing from time to time, but it’s worth looking out for Eufy’s bundle options that throws in a replacement for free. Granted, this robot vacuum comes with a high price tag, but it ticks all of the right performance boxes and looks quite cool too.

What to buy when we’re so spoilt for choice when it comes to robot vacuums? Thankfully, at the premium end of the spectrum, there are some obvious models that tick many similar boxes to the Eufy Omni S2 robot vacuum. Take a look at the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete robot vacuum, the Ultenic T10 and impressive Shark Matrix Plus Robot Vacuum, which has full vac and mop functionality as does the Roborock Qrevo Master robot vacuum.

For larger rooms, the iRobot Roomba Combo J9+ is a solid option and does a little bit of everything and the Eufy Clean X8 Pro machine is similarly impressive. Meanwhile, the older Eufy X9 Pro and the keenly priced iRobot Roomba j7+ are a couple more worth investigating. Finally, try looking at the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, SwitchBot Mini K10+, Eufy Omni S1 Pro or the Roborock Saros 10, all of which get the job done depending on available budget.

Miele has launched its new Triflex HX3 cordless vacuum cleaner range, which includes four models in total. However, it’s the Miele Triflex HX3 Aqua that particularly stands out thanks to its unique hard floor cleaning system.

The HX3 Aqua comes with Miele’s new AquaTwister floorhead, which combines vacuuming and mopping in a single step. Two reusable rotating pads are continuously moistened from an integrated water tank, helping lift dirt and everyday grime from hard floors more effectively than suction alone. Miele says the aim is to make daily floorcare "quicker, easier and more thorough" in homes with large hard floor areas.

The range is available now via Miele’s online store, with prices starting from £649. The Triflex HX3 Aqua sits towards the top end of the lineup at £789.

The HX3 Aqua automatically detects when the AquaTwister head is attached, allowing the vacuum to switch from standard suction settings to water control mode. Users can then choose between three different water levels depending on how dirty the floor is.

The built-in 300ml water tank can clean up to 150m² of hard flooring before needing a refill, depending on the selected setting, and the rotating pads can simply be removed and machine washed at 60°C once you’re done.

Alongside the Aqua model, the new range also includes the Triflex HX3, HX3 Cat & Dog and HX3 Plus. Runtime varies between models, with the standard versions offering up to 70 minutes of cleaning, whilst the HX3 Plus extends this to up to 140 minutes thanks to an additional battery.

If you’re looking for a budget robot vacuum cleaner, you might be surprised to find your local Lidl might have just the thing. This weekend, Lidl is bringing its bestselling Silvercrest Robot Vacuum Cleaner back to its stores, and at just £59.99, it’s a good, simple model that takes care of your cleaning for you.

As you might expect from such a cheap price, the Silvercrest Robot Vacuum Cleaner isn’t as advanced as models you’d find from Dyson, Eufy or Roborock. But what you do get is still impressive, and if you hate vacuuming, the Silvercrest Robot Vacuum Cleaner could solve that problem.

The Silvercrest Robot Vacuum Cleaner comes with three cleaning modes – Classic, Spot and Corner. This version of the robot vacuum doesn’t connect to an app but rather, you use a remote control to turn it on and off, and send it off to clean which it does so using its up to 2.2kPa suction power.

The Classic mode cleans with a ‘random navigation’ so it’ll move wherever you send it via the remote. The same can be said about Corner mode, except this function gets close to the edges of your home. The Spot mode cleans in a spiral pattern and is best used for places that the robot vacuum may have missed or particularly messy spots.

While it may not have map navigation within an app, the Silvercrest Robot Vacuum Cleaner has six sensors – three sensitive anti-impact and three anti-drop. This ensures the Silvercrest Robot Vacuum Cleaner doesn’t bump into anything or take a fall down your stairs.

Unlike a traditional robot vacuum, the Silvercrest Robot Vacuum Cleaner doesn’t come with a charging or self-emptying dock. Instead, the top of the vacuum contains the 0.42L dust container which you can easily remove and empty. It doesn’t mop, but it has two side brushes to get into all areas for a deep clean.

In terms of battery, the Silvercrest Robot Vacuum Cleaner has an integrated 2600mAh battery which offers up to 90 minutes of runtime on the lowest suction setting. The lowest setting is also extra quiet at 70 decibels when in operation.

Is the Silvercrest Robot Vacuum Cleaner basic? Yes, and you will find better models on the market. But for £60, you can really ask for much more and it takes floor cleaning out of your hands. The Silvercrest Robot Vacuum Cleaner is available to buy for £59.99 and is expected to arrive in select Lidl stores on 10th May.

The best robot vacuum cleaners are getting more advanced by the day, but they’re also getting very expensive. That’s why models like the Eufy Omni E25 feel particularly interesting, especially when they promise a near hands-free cleaning experience without quite hitting those higher price points.

Having spent time testing it properly since its launch last year, it’s clear that the Omni E25 is designed to take as much effort out of cleaning as possible. The real question is whether it strikes the right balance between performance, automation and value – and more importantly, whether it’s the right fit for your home.

Unboxing and set up

I initially found the Omni E25 to be rather substantial, mainly thanks to the all-in-one station. However, thankfully most of it came pre-assembled. Inside, everything is neatly organised – you’ve got the robot itself, side brushes, mop components, cleaning solution and a few extras, all laid out clearly.

Setting up entailed slotting in the clean and dirty water tanks, filling them up, and finding a suitable spot with enough clearance for the robot to dock properly. It’s worth thinking about placement beforehand, as this isn’t a small unit you can just squeeze into a corner. There’s also dedicated slot behind the clean water tank for Eufy’s detergent solution, which comes included – something that's not always the case with other brands. However, the bottle isn’t refillable, so you’ll need to replace and recycle it once it runs out.

Once the station is sorted, the robot itself is very simple to get going. You clip on the side brush, attach the mop module if needed, remove the packaging, and then it’s all about the app. Pairing through the Eufy Clean app is quick and guided step-by-step, covering Wi-Fi setup, naming your device and setting initial preferences.

The Omni E25 then heads out to map your home using its LiDAR system, which was surprisingly fast and accurate. From there, you can divide rooms, set no-go zones and adjust cleaning settings in the app. Even if you’re new to robot vacuums, it’s all very easy to get your head around.

Design and features

In terms of design, the robot itself looks and feels premium, with a relatively low profile that helps it get under furniture with ease. It combines vacuuming and mopping in one unit, using a rolling mop system rather than flat pads, paired with Eufy’s HydroJet system. This continuously cleans the mop as it works – spinning, rinsing and applying pressure to the floor – so you’re not just dragging dirt around.

Suction power comes in at 20,000Pa, which is still very strong, even if some newer models are pushing higher numbers now. That’s backed up by the DuoSpiral brush system, which uses twin rollers to guide hair into the suction path whilst helping prevent tangles.

Edge cleaning is another highlight, with Eufy’s CornerRover extending arm reaching out to clean along skirting boards and into corners, which are usually weak spots for robot vacuums. Navigation is handled by a combination of LiDAR and an RGB camera, allowing the Omni E25 to map accurately, avoid obstacles and recognise objects in its path.

As you’d expect from Eufy, the all-in-one station handles almost everything automatically, including emptying the dustbin, refilling the water tank, collecting dirty water, washing and drying the mop with warm air, and even dispensing detergent when needed.

As mentioned, it’s a fairly large unit, but that’s because it houses everything, including the three-litre dust bag which only needs replacing roughly every 75 days. One small design detail I really like is that the clean water tank sits externally on the side rather than being fully enclosed, which looks nice and makes it easier to access too.

The mop also automatically lifts when carpets are detected, and the robot adjusts suction and water levels depending on floor type. You’ve got a good range of customisation options in the app, including three suction levels, three water levels, standard or deep cleaning modes, and the option for one or two passes.

Performance

In terms of performance, the Omni E25 has been very impressive. Suction is strong across both carpet and hard floors, edge cleaning is excellent, and importantly, there were no streaks left behind on my vinyl flooring. You can also tell the mop is staying clean over time, which really speaks to how effective the self-cleaning system is.

There are a few limitations worth keeping in mind, depending on how you plan to use it. You can choose between vacuum-only or a combined vacuum-and-mop clean, but there’s no standalone mop mode. You also can’t set it to vacuum first and then mop in a single run. For some people that won’t matter, but if you like a more tailored cleaning sequence, it does feel a little restrictive.

The mop system itself also has its constraints. Whilst it does lift when carpets are detected, it only raises slightly and can’t be removed automatically by the dock. That means if your home has a lot of mixed flooring, it’s not quite as adaptable as some of the more premium models that can fully detach or swap out mop pads, such as the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra.

However, I did find its battery life to be a strong point. On a full clean, it dropped from 100% to around 75%, then topped itself back up to full in roughly 20 minutes. This is significantly higher than some other models at a similar price point, which is great to see.

Verdict

The Eufy Omni E25 combines a strong cleaning performance with useful automation, meaning you spend far less time maintaining it compared to more basic models. Whilst it’s not the most flexible option for homes with a lot of mixed flooring, it absolutely excels in spaces dominated by hard floors, where its mopping system and edge cleaning really stand out. It might not tick every advanced feature box, but for the price, it gets a huge amount right.

Alternatives to consider

If you want to aim a bit higher, consider the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra. It has a very impressive 30,000Pa suction and one of the most advanced docking systems around, including hot water mop washing and even automated mop swapping depending on floor type. That makes it especially good for larger homes or spaces with a mix of surfaces, as it can intelligently adapt without you stepping in.

On the other hand, the Eufy Omni C28 is a much more accessible alternative that still delivers a lot of the same convenience features. You still get an all-in-one station for emptying and mop maintenance, but in a more compact and affordable package.

DJI is back again with another robot vacuum cleaner launch. In a teaser post, DJI seemingly confirms that a second generation of its DJI Romo robot vacuum is launching in May, but other than that, there’s very little information to go on – here’s my predictions.

You probably know DJI best for its drone line-up, but in late 2025, the brand launched its first-ever robot vacuum cleaner collection. The Romo series featured the S, A and P vacuums which used DJI’s drone-grade LiDAR and vision sensors to navigate the home, detect obstacles, and of course, clean your floors.

Despite launching back in 2025, the DJI Romo series had been rumoured for a while. Other than a few sneakily shot photos, DJI neither confirmed nor denied anything, and there were very little details surrounding the launches.

The same can somewhat be said about this new ‘leak’. Posted by DJI Innovations on Weibo, the announcement says “A clean home means a better life. DJI ROMO 2nd Generation, launching in May, stay tuned!” A shadowed video of a robot vacuum is seen with a light on at the top – and that’s it!

It’s hardly surprising that DJI has released no information about the potential second generation of its robot vacuum, as it did this with the first generation. It’s quite a quick turn around for a new generation considering the original robot vacuums only came out last year, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Whether the second generation Romo series will be released internationally is being kept quiet. For the first generation, they were first launched in China before becoming available worldwide. It’s also unclear whether the second generation will be for all three original models.

Our Active Editor, Matt Kollat reviewed the DJI Romo P and gave it four stars. While he championed the navigation, obstacle avoidance, dock, app and design, it lost points for its cleaning performance, dust bag and privacy concerns, the latter of which other users reported, too.

If I had to guess, I imagine DJI will introduce second generations of all three versions from the line-up. A key focus should hopefully be on the cleaning performance, but tightening its on-device and in-app security is vital. A more affordable price tag would be nice to see, but highly doubtful.

Dyson has officially launched the new V10 Konical alongside its Auto-empty Dok, marking it as the brand's first-ever self-emptying vacuum setup. The Auto-empty Dok automatically transfers dust and debris into a sealed bin liner that can hold up to 60 days’ worth of dirt, whilst a fully sealed HEPA filtration system captures fine particles during the process.

It follows the success of the V16 Piston Animal and the PencilVac Fluffycones from late last year, but this feels like a more practical solution for anyone who’s tired of constantly emptying their vacuum or dealing with airflow blockages. By moving debris straight into a larger, sealed container, it should help reduce both of those common frustrations.

Right now, only the Dyson V10 Konical is available to buy on its own, priced at £449.99. The Auto-empty Dok will be available from 8th July 2026, bundled with the V10 Konical for £569.99. We've also found it listed at Currys for the same price,

As for the vacuum itself, the V10 Konical comes with a de-tangling conical cleaner head designed to prevent long hair and pet fur from wrapping around the brush bar. It also features Dyson’s signature green laser-style illumination, which helps reveal fine dust you’d usually miss on hard floors.

It weighs just 2.65kg and offers 150 AW of power, providing around 60 minutes of runtime and a 0.54-litre dust bin capacity.

Another nice touch is that the Auto-empty Dok is backward compatible, meaning existing Dyson V8 Cyclone owners can upgrade without replacing their entire setup. Accessories are also interchangeable across the V8, V8 Cyclone and the new V10 Konical, so you can keep using the tools you already have.

Dreame just added four new robot vacuums to its ever-growing range with the launch of the L60 Series at the brand’s Dreame NEXT event in San Francisco.

The new range includes the flagship L60 Pro Ultra, the L60 Ultra, the L60 Ultra PE, and the entry-level L60 Ultra FE, with each model pitched at different types of homes, buyers and budgets.

The headline is the $1,399.99 L60 Pro Ultra with its ProLeap System, which allows the robot vacuum to scale obstacles or thresholds as high as 3.46 inches. Rivals typically manage around an inch of clearance but the Pro Ultra nearly triples that.

It pairs this system with with 35,000Pa Vormax suction, a HyperStream Detangling DuoBrush for pet hair, and Dual Omni-Scrub mopping with hot water, with the mop pads cleaned at 100°C (212°F) after every cycle. A 6,400mAh PowerCore battery is also designed to cover large floor plans on a single charge.

The $1,299.99 L60 Ultra takes a different approach. At 3.23 inches tall, it's built to go low rather than high, sliding under furniture that taller robots can't manage. It uses Dreame's latest 3D ToF sensor technology with an AI camera, designed to give accurate navigation even in low-light conditions – like those under furniture.

Stepping down in price, the $1,099.99 L60 Ultra PE is positioned as the pick for homes with pets, leading with SmartDirt Detection that identifies heavily soiled zones mid-clean and triggers additional passes automatically.

The entry-level, the $999.99 L60 Ultra FE includes the L60 series-standard 100°C mop self-cleaning as well as 30,000Pa suction.

All four models share Dreame’s 8-in-1 PowerDock base station, which covers auto-emptying, mop washing and hot-air drying. Dual Flex Arm technology is there for getting into the edges and corners, as well as automatic mop lifting when moving from hard floors to carpet, and automatic solution dispensing.

Finding a best cordless vacuum cleaner on a budget can feel like a bit of a gamble. There’s plenty out there that look good on paper, but don't always deliver once you actually get it home. That’s exactly why I’ve taken the time to properly test these models myself, and to figure out whether you’re getting a bargain or something you’ll end up replacing a few months down the line.

The three models below are all incredibly affordable, but still manage to offer strong suction, impressive battery life, and features you’d usually expect from much pricier machines. In short, they prove you don’t need to spend a fortune to get a vacuum that actually does the job well.

That said, they’re not all the same, which is where this guide comes in. I’ve broken down exactly what each one offers, so you can get a clear idea of what you’re getting before deciding which is right for you.

1. Ultenic U20 Flex

Ultenic is by far one of my favourite affordable cordless vacuum cleaner brands, and after testing the FS1, U12 Vesla and U16 Flex, I can confidently say the U20 (released last year) is my favourite from the lineup so far.

It features a 600W motor with up to 55,000Pa suction, as well as a large 1.5-litre dustbin so you’re not constantly emptying it mid-clean. It also features a 7-layer HEPA filtration system, which makes a real difference if you’re vacuuming regularly or have pets.

One of my favourite features is the smart digital touchscreen display. It shows exactly how many minutes of cleaning time you’ve got left, what suction mode you’re using, and the battery percentage whilst charging. It’ll even alert you if the brush gets clogged or if the tube needs cleaning, which is a pretty rare feature on cordless vacuums, especially at this price.

It’s definitely one of those vacuums that looks far more premium than it actually is, so if that's what you're after, it's a great pick – especially as it’s currently discounted on Amazon.

2. Beldray Airfinity

Beldray is another great brand for affordable appliances, and the Airfinity is a great cordless vacuum option that’s well worth considering. It comes with a 400W brushless motor and manages to stay relatively lightweight at around 4.5kg, so it’s easy enough to manoeuvre around the house.

The rechargeable 29.6V battery delivers up to 45 minutes of runtime, which is more than enough for most homes, and you’ve got three power settings to choose from – Eco, Normal and Turbo. Like the Ultenic, it’s bagless, although the dustbin is a bit smaller at 0.7 litres.

There are also a few handy extras, including a spare washable HEPA filter and LED headlights on the floorhead, which are really useful for spotting dust in darker corners or under furniture.

3. Vexilar V15 Max 

The Vexilar V15 Max is the newest addition to this list – and interestingly, it’s also the most affordable, despite boasting some of the most impressive features. It comes with a 600W motor and up to 65,000Pa suction, making it one of the more powerful options here, and it offers three suction modes so you can easily switch depending on the surface.

However, what really makes it stand out is the built-in mopping function. This is something you’d usually expect to see on more premium models, but here you get a 230ml removable water tank that allows you to vacuum and mop at the same time. It’s particularly great for hard floors, helping lift dust whilst giving surfaces a bit of a shine in one go.

It’s also currently reduced on Amazon, which makes it even more appealing if you’re after something versatile without spending big.

Roborock has launched the new Qrevo S Pro in the UK, just a few weeks after the arrival of the Saros 20. Whilst that model is undeniably more premium, the Qrevo S Pro is aimed at delivering high-end cleaning features without the intimidating price tag – making it a strong option for first-time robot vacuum owners.

We’re seeing more and more of the best robot vacuums arrive packed with cutting-edge features and increasingly complex designs. That’s great if you know what you’re doing, but if you’ve never owned one before, it can feel overwhelming. The Qrevo S Pro is therefore a refreshing change of pace, especially when you see the price.

Available in black or white, you can buy the Qrevo S Pro from today for £549.99 via Roborock’s website and Amazon. It's also available in the US for $599.99.

The Qrevo S Pro features Roborock’s standout HyperForce suction, rated at an impressive 18,500Pa, alongside an all-in-one rubber main brush and anti-tangle side brush. Navigation is controlled by the brand’s PreciSense LiDAR system, which maps your home with impressive accuracy, whilst Reactive Tech obstacle avoidance helps it steer neatly around furniture and everyday clutter.

The Qrevo S Pro also comes with a multifunctional dock that takes care of much of the hard work for you. Mop pads are washed in 75°C hot water to tackle stubborn dirt and sanitise effectively, then dried with 45°C warm air to help prevent odours and bacteria build-up. The dock itself is designed for easy upkeep too, with a detachable platform for simpler cleaning, and it even offers 30% faster charging so the robot is ready to go again sooner.

Floor cleaning has had a bit of a glow-up over the past few years. What used to be a chore involving a manky mop and a bucket of murky water has turned into a proper category in itself, with cordless wet/dry vacuums from the likes of Shark, Bissell and Tineco trying to make scrubbing the kitchen floors feel almost futuristic.

Dyson, of course, wasn’t going to leave them to it. The brand has already had a crack at the wet/dry vacuum world with its Submarine attachment and the Wash G1, but its latest effort takes a different approach entirely. The new PencilWash is essentially a super-slim electric mop that ditches suction altogether in favour of a self-propelling soft roller, water dispensing along eight points, and a squeegee that scrapes dirty water back into a tank.

It's the partner product to last year's PencilVac, with the same pencil-thin handle and the same Submarine-style floor head used on the V15s Detect Submarine. There's a 30-minute battery life, a 300ml clean water tank, USB-style controls and a quoted weight of just 2.2kg.

I've been testing one for the past few weeks across my hard floors to see whether it really is the future of mopping. Here’s how I got on.

Dyson PencilWash review: price and availability

The Dyson PencilWash is on sale now globally, listed at £299.99 in the UK direct from Dyson, with regular availability at Amazon, Very and QVC at the same price. In the US, it can be picked up for $349.99, and Australian buyers are looking at AU$549.

That puts it firmly in premium territory, and crucially, at almost exactly the same price as a proper wet/dry vacuum cleaner. The Shark HydroVac Cordless, for example, has a £330 RRP but can be picked up for as little as £200 on the likes of Amazon, and the Bissell CrossWave HydroScrub sits at a similar price, too. Both of those will tackle carpets and hard floors and use actual suction, so the PencilWash needs to work pretty hard to justify its asking price as a hard floors-only device.

Mind you, it’s the most affordable floor cleaner Dyson currently makes, so if you're set on the brand and don't fancy stretching to the Wash G1, it's the entry point.

Dyson PencilWash review: design and build

This is where the PencilWash really earns its keep. The handle is just 38mm thick, and the whole unit weighs a featherlight 2.2kg, which makes it dramatically easier to handle than pretty much any cordless wet/dry vac I've used. The copper-coloured finish loons and feels high-end, too, looking more like something you'd want to leave on display than shove in an under-stairs cupboard. It absolutely looks the part leant against your kitchen cupboards, that’s for sure.

The floor head is the same Submarine head used on Dyson's vacuum range, with a fluffy microfiber roller, a 300ml clean water tank, a squeegee, and a small dirty water tray that catches the runoff. It's all colour-coded in red where bits come apart, which makes assembly rather straight forward. The articulated head bends almost flat to slip under furniture, and swivels happily around chair legs and toilet bases. There's also a small LED display on the handle showing battery and mode, plus a power button and a boost button that adds extra water for tough spots.

The charging setup is a bit of an odd one, though. Instead of one neat dock, you get a charging stand for the wand and a separate tray for the floor head, which need to live in different spots. Dyson clearly wanted to keep things slim, but in practice it does mean the PencilWash takes up more space than it first looks.

Nevertheless, there are a couple of design oversights worth flagging. The dirty water tray isn't sealed, so it has to be carried very carefully to the sink unless you fancy dripping mucky water across your freshly cleaned floor. And the roller takes ages to dry properly, well over a day in my case, even with decent airflow. There's no self-cleaning mode or hot air drying like you get on the Wash G1, which you’d kind of expect at this price point.

Dyson PencilWash review: performance and features

On paper, the PencilWash should be brilliant. It's nippy, lightweight, and the self-propelling roller pulls itself along smoothly. What’s more, pushing it around feels almost effortless. For light maintenance cleaning, it does a perfectly decent job, picking up dust, footprints and the general low-level grime that builds up across a week.

The problem is that "perfectly decent" is about as far as it goes. Because there's no suction, the PencilWash relies entirely on the roller and squeegee to lift dirt and water off your floor. For dust and the odd splash, that's fine. For anything more involved, it can struggle.

I tested it on a tomato ketchup spill in the kitchen, and it was a proper mess. Rather than lifting the ketchup, the roller smeared it around, leaving streaks of pink water across the floor that I then had to chase down with a Swiffer. Trying to apply more pressure to scrub the stain out only caused the motorised roller to stall, which was frustrating. I had a similar issue with spilled oat milk, although it handled that slightly better, but again I was left with a wet film that needed wiping up afterwards.

That brings me to the bigger issue: the PencilWash leaves floors noticeably wetter than I'd expect. Without proper suction, water sits on the surface for a while after you've gone over it, particularly in grout lines on tiled areas. I found myself going back over patches with a dry cloth or, embarrassingly, an actual mop, which feels like it defeats the entire purpose of the device. If you've got young kids or pets running around, you'll need to be aware of that.

Boost mode does help with stickier spots, dispensing extra water for five seconds at a tap or 60 seconds when held. But adding more water to a device that struggles to pick up water in the first place is a slightly odd solution to the problem, in my opinion!

It's also worth saying that the PencilWash uses a remarkably small amount of water overall, which is genuinely impressive. The 300ml tank lasted me through my hard floors twice over before needing a refill, and the 30 minute battery life is more than enough for a typical clean, so you don’t find yourself having to charge it constantly.

The post-clean routine is where I lost quite a bit of respect for this gadget. You take the floor head to the sink, carefully decant the dirty water out of the unsealed tray (good luck not spilling), then pull the whole thing apart, rinse the roller and squeegee by hand, wipe down the tray, and leave it all to dry for the best part of a day. There's no quick way around any of this by the way - an automatic clean, hot air drying, or something would have been nice. But you don’t get any of that. Compared to a wet/dry vac that runs a self-clean cycle while you have a cup of tea, it feels a bit overly simplified and - dare I say - lacking.

Another annoying trait is that the PencilWash’s roller also doesn't reach right up to the edge of skirting boards, leaving a half-inch gap un-mopped, which is a shame because that's exactly where dust tends to gather. Saying that, it does give floors a decent clean, and you’ll be surprised how much dirt was on your floors before you start cleaning them, so it’s obvious there’s a benefit here. I think the issue is that it just doesn’t perform as well as I was expecting for the price point.

Dyson PencilWash review: verdict

The Dyson PencilWash is one of those products that nails the bits Dyson is famous for and falls down on the bits it should know better about. The design is top notch, it's wonderfully light, the articulated head reaches into spaces other cleaners can't, and for a quick mid-week tidy of dusty hard floors, it's actually quite enjoyable to use.

But the lack of suction is a real problem. Floors are left wetter than they should be, sticky messes get smeared rather than lifted, unless you go over them lots of times, and the post-clean routine is genuinely grim compared to what rivals are offering at the same price. Options such as the Shark HydroVac and Bissell CrossWave, while they might have their own issues, both cost around the same money and will handle carpets too while also having proper self-cleaning modes.

If you live in a small flat with hard floors throughout, can't manage a heavier cleaner, and only need something for light maintenance, the PencilWash makes sense. But for everyone else, I'd think long and hard before parting with £300 for what is, when you boil it down, a very pretty motorised mop.

Shark has expanded its PowerDetect cordless vacuum cleaner range with a lighter, speedier model. The new Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System is packed full of detection technologies, and it has one of my favourite vacuum cleaner features.

The new Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System has an ultra slim design that only weighs about seven pounds, making it easy to carry and maneouver around your house. It also folds down with its MultiFlex design to clean underneath furniture and around tight spaces and corners.

My personal favourite feature of the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System – and my favourite vacuum feature in general – is its Reveal Technology. Dirt isn’t always visible to the eye so the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System has a blue LED light that illuminates floors to find hidden dust.

The light is also precision-angled to locate debris you might have missed, and it’s especially helpful on hardwood floors. While this feature is my favourite from the new vacuum, where the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System really shines is its detection technologies.

Using PowerDetect Intelligence, the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System automatically senses where cleaning is most needed, to target different types and levels of dirt across multiple surfaces. This includes Floor Detect which adjusts its brushroll speed on all floors, and DirtDetect that boosts power when it detects dirt on carpets.

That’s not all though. The Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System also has Direction Detect that captures all dirt in forward and backward directions, and Edge Detect which cleans along the walls with higher suction power.

As is the case with most of Shark’s vacuum cleaners, the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System has a TurboPro Detect brush roll which self-cleans and has anti hair-wrap tech to avoid tangling and clogging. It also has an up to 60 minutes runtime.

When full, the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System automatically empties itself into its sealed base which keeps allergens out of the air. Its Auto-Empty Dock also empties after every clean and holds mess for up to 45 days.

The Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System is available to buy for $499 at Shark and select retailers. In the UK, it's called the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty Pet Pro which is £499.99.

Ecovacs has launched the new Deebot X12 OmniCyclone as its latest flagship robot vacuum and mop, building on the previous X11 OmniCyclone. The new model brings in a range of upgraded technologies, all designed to tackle stubborn stains and improve overall mopping performance.

The Deebot X12 OmniCyclone's standout feature is its new FocusJet Stain Pre-Dissolving Technology. Using a combination of AI-powered camera vision and an infrared stain detector, the robot can identify tougher messes and spray a targeted mix of water and cleaning solution before the mop even touches the floor.

The Deebot X12 OmniCyclonee is available for $1,499 via at Ecovacs' online storeand Amazon. We're yet to find out about UK and European pricing and availability.

Elsewhere, there are plenty of other notable upgrades. PowerBoost Charging Plus allows the robot to quickly top up its battery during short docking cycles, helping reduce downtime and making it better suited to larger homes. There’s also ZeroTangle 4.0, an airflow-based anti-tangle system that guides hair directly into the suction inlet.

Ecovacs has also introduced the Ozmo Roller Mop 3.0, which uses a longer microfibre roller that continuously refreshes itself during cleaning. It’s also paired with a Mop Roller Smart Cover, which automatically deploys when the robot moves onto carpet, preventing moisture transfer and protecting softer surfaces.

I feel like I start most of my robot vacuum reviews the same way, so if you’ve read a few of mine before – apologies. However, it takes a lot for me to be impressed by them, and I could probably count on one hand the number of times it’s happened, with models like the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra being a strong example. That said, it’s been a while since anything has really wowed me… until the Roborock Saros 20 arrived.

First announced at CES and only recently available to buy, the Saros 20 has impressed me from the moment it landed on my doorstep – and now I finally get to share the full experience with all of you.

Price and availability

Right now, the Saros 20 is sold as a bundle, which includes the robot, a litre of cleaning solution, a one-year extended warranty, and even the chance to win Real Madrid match tickets.

It’s currently priced at £1,309, and you can buy it directly from Roborock or via Amazon.

Unboxing and set up

For such a premium robot vacuum, I was pleasantly surprised by how straightforward the setup process was. You get the RockDock, which is relatively lightweight, and a separate box with the robot and base plate that needs attaching so it has somewhere to sit.

From there, it’s just a case of filling the detergent tank, attaching the mop pads, filling the clean water tank, and placing the robot onto the dock. It’s a shame detergent (RRP £25.99) isn’t included if you’re not buying the full bundle, but you do get spare mop pads, side brushes and dust bags.

Once the physical setup is done, everything moves over to the Roborock app, which guides you through the rest step by step. It’s all very straightforward, and I also connected it to my Echo Show 8 so I can control it via voice command.

Design and features

There are a lot of things about the Saros 20 that make it special, but its suction poweer is one of the main things. At 36,000Pa, it's currenrly one of the most powerful robot vacuums currently available. With most recent models maxxing out at 20,000-30,000pa, you can see how impressive this is.

It also includes a dual anti-tangle brush system, designed to prevent long hair and pet fur from wrapping around the rollers, and FlexiArm technology which extends the side brush and mop to clean edges and corners more effectively.

Navigation is powered by StarSight Autonomous System 2.0, an advanced mapping and obstacle-recognition system. It combines sensors and AI to map the home quickly, avoid obstacles and recognise objects more accurately than previous models. the system also helps the robot identify tricky areas such as curtains, furniture bases and tight spaces, ensuring it cleans more thoroughly around the home.

Design wise, the Saros 20 is incredibly slim at just under 8cm tall, meaning it can operate successfully under furniture. It also features the AdaptiLift Chassis 3.0, which allows it to raise itself to get over thresholds and uneven flooring. Whilst it’s not quite as extreme as some newer concepts we’re starting to see, it’s still a really useful addition that improves real-world usability.

The accompanying RockDock is just as impressive. Despite its relatively compact size, it handles a range of maintenance tasks automatically, including emptying, cleaning and sanitising. It also supports automatic mop detachment, so the robot can leave its mop pads behind when vacuuming carpets to keep them dry.

The mopping system itself uses dual spinning pads that scrub floors effectively, and they automatically lift when carpets are detected. For tougher stains, the robot can even increase downward pressure to improve cleaning performance.

App

Everything is controlled via the Roborock app, which is one of the most user-friendly I’ve used. Mapping was incredibly fast, and a lot faster than any other robot I’ve tested. It even correctly identified my kitchen without any input, likely using AI to recognise certain appliances. You can also view detailed maps, customise cleaning zones and create routines with ease.

The routines in particular feel more tailored to real-life use. For example, I set mine to mop after every vacuum session and to run after meals, and you can also schedule deep cleans and target specific areas.

That said, you can also fully customise your own routines, allowing you to personalise the robot even more if you'd like to. I personally love having the choice between a simpler approach and deeper personalisation, as you can easily switch between both.

Performance

The Roborock Saros 20's performance is exceptional, especially when it comes to suction. It had no trouble lifting dust and pet hair in a single pass, and the dual anti-tangle brush system worked exactly as intended, with no annoying hair wrap to deal with afterwards.

The mopping is just as impressive, and arguably where the Saros 20 really starts to stand out. I always use my kitchen as my main testing space, as it sees everything from cooking spills to muddy paw prints, and the Saros 20 handled it all without any issues. The mop pads are really efficient, removing most stains with one pass, and you can tell when it used more pressure on the slightly harder spills.

Its slim design is another highlight, and it can get under furniture far more easily than most robot vacuums I’ve tested. It's also surprisingly capable when it comes to navigating your home, and can lift itself over thresholds and thicker rugs without getting stuck.

The dock is equally impressive and plays a big part in making the Saros 20 feel like a truly hands-off system. Despite being relatively compact, it handles a lot of the maintenance for you, and is also quieter than many other docks I’ve used. The two water tanks are easy to access on top, and the power cord was long enough for my own setup.

Verdict

The Roborock Saros 20 is one of the most impressive robot vacuum and mop systems I’ve tested in a while. It combines an incredibly powerful performance with well-executed features, and technologies like the dual anti-tangle brushes, AdaptiLift chassis and StarSight navigation all work together seamlessly. It’s undeniably expensive, but if you’re after a high-performance robot that requires minimal input, this is one of the best options on the market today.

Alternatives to consider

If you’re looking for a strong alternative, the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra is worth considering. It offers similarly powerful suction and one of the most hands-off docks we’ve tested. However, I did find it more complicated to set up, which is something to keep in mind.

Shark’s new robot vacuum cleaner and mop with UV light detection is now available in the UK, following its launch in the US earlier this month. The Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal is the brand’s first robot vacuum and mop to combine UV light with an RGB colour camera, detecting spills and stains that are invisible to the human eye.

We’ve seen plenty of Shark’s best robot vacuums before, including the Shark Matrix Plus and the Shark PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro 2, but the PowerDetect UV Reveal introduces a completely new type of technology for the brand. It also features eight different PowerDetect technologies, which automatically sense floor types, edges and obstacles to optimise cleaning performance as it moves around your home.

Priced at £999 in the UK and $1,299 in the US, it’s available now from Shark’s online store as well as retailers like Argos. It's also available on Amazon for £1,099.99, including two mop pads, two 58mm side brushes, one anti-odour cartridge and 355ml multi-surface floor cleaner. Buyers can also choose between black or white.

Once the PowerDetect UV Reveal spots a mess using its UV detection, its HyperSonic mopping system then scrubs and lifts the stains it's spotted. It can then verify that the area has been properly cleaned before moving on, and it's also capable of lifting itself over small obstacles and thresholds, helping it navigate more easily between rooms.

The robot comes with Shark’s bagless ThermaCharged NeverTouch Pro Base, which automatically empties the vacuum, cleans and sanitises the system, and washes the mop pads after each use to keep everything hygienic. The sealed base also helps trap dust and allergens, whilst doubling as a charging station that delivers up to three hours of runtime. If the battery runs low mid-clean, the robot will return to the base, recharge, and then pick up right where it left off.

DJI is no stranger to venturing into new categories, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t surprised when the Chinese giant announced its Romo robot vacuum in 2025. Even though the UK had to wait until April 2026 to buy the brand’s hottest home gadget, I’ve been testing one since January and, by now, have cleaned over 1,100 m² of my home.

Of course, I don’t live in a mansion, and it took me months of testing to achieve that figure. During this time, I learned the strengths and weaknesses of the DJI Romo. As someone who has also tested many of the brand’s other products, I found it great to play around with DJI's best robot vacuum cleaner, and I felt right at home controlling the Romo and navigating the app.

That said, the Romo isn’t perfect. It’s costly and focuses on navigation rather than on cleaning performance. There are some quirks that make the Romo feel more like a gadget than an actually useful home-cleaning device, even though its suction is class-leading. Not to mention the general security concerns that have come up since its launch, when a guy ‘accidentally’ broke into the system of 7,000 Romos.

Nevertheless, the DJI Romo is a fun product and one that leans into what matters most in 2026: good looks (transparent housing!) and a sense that it’s something every gadget lover should own, no matter the price. Should you buy one? How good is the Romo? Do the pros outweigh the cons? Let’s find out

DJI Romo review

Price and availability

The Romo was announced in October 2025 and is available to buy now in the UK via DJI's online store. It comes in three options. The entry-level DJI ROMO S (Water Tank Version) has an all-white housing, and the robot itself is also white. It sells for £929.

The DJI ROMO A (Water Tank Version) includes a transparent vacuum cleaner and a white base unit for £1,149. Finally, the flagship DJI ROMO P (Water Tank Version) features a transparent base unit and a vacuum for £1,299.

Functionally, all versions are more or less identical, except for the Romo P, which has a floor deodoriser compartment, UV sterilises the dust bag, and offers more advanced self-maintenance features. I tested this version and will therefore refer to the Romo P throughout this review.

Design and build quality

The Romo P is one of those rare robot vacuums that feels designed to be seen rather than hidden away. DJI has leaned heavily into its industrial design roots here, giving both the robot and its base station a fully transparent shell that exposes internal components, wiring and structural elements.

It’s very much on trend these days, with brands such as Nothing pushing the see-through aesthetic with great success. However, under its translucent, plastic skin, the Romo P is built to flagship standards.

The robot vacuum itself measures roughly 35 × 35 × 9.8cm and weighs around 4.3–4.4kg, which puts it on the slightly chunkier side for a premium robovac. The extra height is partly down to its sensor array, though notably the LiDAR is embedded rather than turret-mounted, keeping the overall profile relatively clean.

The Romo P combines dual fisheye vision cameras with wide-angle solid-state LiDAR, creating a multi-sensor fusion system that DJI claims can detect objects as small as 2mm. This setup borrows directly from the company’s drone tech, giving the robot a wide field of view and precise spatial awareness.

From a hardware perspective, the Romo P is a fully fledged hybrid cleaner. It packs a whopping 25,000Pa of suction that you can almost feel from the other side of the room, dual anti-tangle roller brushes, and twin extendable side arms for edge cleaning.

On the mopping side, there’s a 164ml onboard water tank feeding dual spinning mop pads at the rear, with an automatic lift to prevent cross-contamination on carpets.

Internally, the robot carries a relatively small ~0.26L dustbin, designed to be emptied frequently into the dock, where most of the engineering heft sits. It’s a large, almost sculptural unit (around 45 × 44 × 42cm, ~10kg) housing a 2.4L dust bag, 4L clean water tank, and 3.2L dirty water tank

The base station handles everything automatically, including dust extraction, mop washing (with heated water), and drying. On the Romo P specifically, it also adds a few premium touches, including a UV-sterilised dust bag, dedicated floor deodoriser compartment, and sealed cleaning solution cartridges.

Whether the transparent look is futuristic or slightly over-the-top will come down to taste, but from a build and engineering standpoint, it’s hard to argue with the execution. I haven’t seen any fogging despite the extensive mop-drying process, which blows my mind.

Navigation and obstacle avoidance

Navigation is where the Romo P really separates itself from the pack, thanks to the dual fisheye camera plus LiDAR setup. DJI has taken the same principles that underpin its drone systems and applied them to a domestic setting, turning the Romo into something akin to a drone on wheels.

According to the brand, the Romo P continuously analyses the space ahead, identifying and avoiding obstacles before it reaches them. That includes cables, toys and even very small items that many rivals tend to push around. Said obstacles are then marked in the DJI Home app after the cleaning session is complete.

There are multiple navigation modes available, including a standard setting that balances coverage and efficiency, and an obstacle-avoidance priority mode that takes a more cautious approach in cluttered environments. The vacuum also appears to learn from previous runs, refining its path over time and becoming more efficient in familiar spaces.

In practice, the sensing system is far from perfect. I haven’t seen the Romo push anything unnecessarily, like some older robot vacuums, and it almost always seems to know how to get around obstacles. Its movement is also clean and linear, with very little deviation from the optimal path.

That said, my Romo P once ripped up the floor edging and dragged the piece of wood with it for a bit. I was actually away from home (the Romo was scheduled to clean at a specific time), and only realised the damage when I got back in. I imagined the Romo P going bananas on the trim and dragging it around the flat like a dog.

We have an area rug in the living room with tassels around two of its edges (it was purchased well before the Romo arrived for testing). After realising a long row of tassels might be troublesome for the robot vacuum, we tucked them under the rug. However, the Romo liked to tussle with them, anyway, often pulling the same tassels out.

The vacuum also liked to clean close to our feet, which, I appreciate, are moving subjects, so they might not be that easy for the Romo to avoid. Overall, though, I was very happy with the fluidity of its movements and was thoroughly impressed by how little correction the Romo needed when doing its thing.

Cleaning performance

The Romo P delivers strong, consistent cleaning performance, with a clear bias towards hard floors where it feels most at home. Its vacuuming prowess is probably the most impressive. The Romo has 25,000Pa suction, which is impressive for such a compact gadget.

In terms of how effective that suction is, it’s not without flaws. Anything that comes near its suction hole, the Romo will gobble up. However, the two front brushes are way too gentle to funnel all the dirt towards the middle, which sometimes leaves little crumbs behind from the Romo.

Luckily, you can set how finely you want the Romo to vacuum your floors, which can alleviate these issues. The downside is that the finer the vacuum, the longer it takes to complete the task, which, I guess, makes sense. I wish the brushes did a better job in the first place, though.

Speaking of the brushes, they are extendable, and so are the rear mops, allowing the Romo to clean corners more efficiently. Better still, it can lift the mops when it detects carpets, preventing your soft flooring from getting wet. In my experience, the Romo could also efficiently detect the edges of a rug, so when I drew a box over the area I wanted it to vacuum, it focused on the rug rather than the hard floor around it.

Again, this feature isn’t without caveats. Even with extended arms, the corner-cleaning performance could be better. You can set Romo to go under obstacles better and finecomb the floor, but it will not be able to touch bits of the floor around sofe legs, for example, no matter how efficient its vision system might be.

Mopping performance is solid, and, to my delight, the vac isn’t too wasteful with water, either. Based on the wastewater tank, Romo picks up a lot of dust and dirt from the floor (I spare you the sight of it). The floor feels much cleaner since we started using Romo regularly, without putting in little to no effort ourselves, which is exactly what you want from a robovac.

The Romo P has the floor deodorising function, which is unique to the model. Sadly, I couldn’t detect any smells (good or bad), despite sniffing the floor right after it dried, a sight of which at least delighted my wife.

One excellent feature of the DJI Romo is the drying of the mops and, in the case of the Romo P, the UV-sterilisation of the dust bag, enabling the parts to do their thing for longer without replacement.

A slight downside of this is the drying time, which is always around four hours, regardless of how long you mop for. If you send the Romo out to clean a bit of the floor for five minutes, it’ll still take four hours to dry the pads, during which the base station emits low-level white noise.

Speaking of noises, the station blows the Romo’s smaller dust compartment clean just before it sets off, and it’s quite loud. I had it set for regular cleaning, and if you forget when it was scheduled, the loud ‘BOOM’ will remind you when the programme starts.

The DJI Home app

The DJI Home app is the hub you’ll refer to while using your DJI Romo. It’s the same app the company uses for controlling its portable power stations, including the DJI Power 1000 v2 and DJI Power 2000. It’s a clean, well-thought-out app that makes it easy to control and monitor your robovac.

There are a ton of settings which I won’t go through individually because I don’t have three days to write this review. Instead, I’ll highlight some of the more unique features.

One of these is Supply Management, which helps you track the lifecycle of Romo’s components, including the mop pads, side brush, filter and roller brushes. It also links you directly to DJI’s store to purchase replacements.

One of the weirdest features is the ability to drive Romo. This feature clearly comes from the drone business and lets you drive the robovac using the DJI Home app. More interestingly, you can use the onboard microphone and speaker to talk to people even if you aren’t near your home.

Yet more interestingly, there is no option to actually clean the floor when driving Romo, which puzzles me. Instead, you can prank people by moving the unit close to them and start chatting through its speakers.

I guess it’s a different way to call home, and maybe some prefer talking to something tangible to their phone. You can even stick a photo of yourself on the top of the robovac to make the experience more personal.

Of course, you can also access the map of your home via the app and set different cleaning settings for each room. I found the mapping sufficiently accurate. Maybe not as elaborate as some other brands that specialise in robot vacuums, but certainly good enough for day-to-day use.

Battery life and charging

Battery performance is another area where the Romo P feels reassuringly robust, and it’s not hard to see the influence of DJI’s experience with high-efficiency power systems. The robot is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery (72Wh), which translates into strong real-world endurance across a range of cleaning modes.

In its most efficient setting, the Romo P can run for up to three hours on a single charge, covering roughly 170–180 square metres before returning to the dock. That drops depending on how hard you push it: expect closer to two hours for combined vacuuming and mopping, and around 90 minutes at maximum suction.

To conserve battery life, the robovac’s battery is kept at around 80% when in the dock, and mine never went over this. If you have a larger house and scheduled tasks, the base station may charge the unit to full just before it runs out of juice halfway through. Even if it did, Romo automatically returns to the base station before its battery is completely depleted.

Charging itself is relatively quick for a robot vacuum of this size. Thanks to 55W fast charging, the battery can be replenished in about 2.5 hours, keeping downtime between cleans to a minimum. Not sure who would need to clean every three hours, though!

Verdict

The Romo P is one of the most exciting robot vacuums in years, but not necessarily one of the most practical. DJI has brought its navigation expertise into the home with impressive results, wrapping it all in a striking transparent design that feels more like a piece of consumer tech than a household appliance.

However, even though the Romo P is packed with clever ideas and genuinely industry-leading obstacle avoidance, its cleaning performance, while good, doesn’t quite match the best from established vacuum brands such as Roborock or Dreame.

Add in a few quirks, a premium price, and lingering concerns about smart features, and it starts to feel more like a showcase of DJI’s capabilities than the most sensible cleaning solution.

If you love gadgets, design and cutting-edge tech, the Romo P is easy to recommend. If you just want the best robot vacuum to keep your floors spotless with minimal fuss, you’ll likely find better options elsewhere.

As someone who hates cleaning, I actually quite enjoy spring cleaning as it feels like I’ve given my home some TLC and made it feel fresh after a cold winter where I’ve mainly been hibernating.

Shark has expanded its PowerDetect lineup with a new cordless vacuum cleaner that focuses on being lighter and more agile than its predecessors. The Shark PowerDetect Speed still delivers the PowerDetect Intelligence the brand is known for, but does so in a more compact system that weighs just 3.5kg. It also arrives in a stylish new Ultramarine colourway – a stylish blend of dark grey and deep blue.

It follows the hugely popular Shark PowerDetect Pet, which currently holds the top spot in our best cordless vacuum buying guide after earning a five-star review. That means the PowerDetect Speed has some big shoes to fill, but a first glance suggests it's more than capable of doing so.

The PowerDetect Speed is available now from Shark's website for £499.99, as well as retailers like John Lewis and Currys. If you’d prefer a cheaper option, there’s also a version without the auto-empty base for £399.99, and a pet edition that comes with the brand’s FurFins Pet Tool for tackling stubborn pet hair.

The PowerDetect Speed includes Shark’s Flexology technology, allowing the wand to bend so you can clean under sofas and furniture with ease. If you opt for the auto-empty dock, it can also hold up to 45 days of dust and debris, giving you hands-free emptying and a storage spot for the vacuum when it’s not in use.

As mentioned, it includes the brand's PowerDetect Intelligence, which uses five integrated detection technologies to automatically sense where extra cleaning power is needed. Alongside that is Shark’s TurboPro Detect brushroll for deeper debris pickup across different floor types, plus a Self-Cleaning Brushroll that prevents hair wrap.

Battery life is also impressive for a lighter model, offering up to 60 minutes of runtime in Eco mode.

Dyson treated us to a whole host of vacuum cleaners last year, ranging from the impressive Dyson V16 Piston Animal to the new Dyson 360 Vis Nav Spot + Scrub AI. However, amongst those launches was something unlike anything we’d really seen before, coming in the form of a very compact cordless vacuum cleaner.

The Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones is the brand’s slimmest vacuum cleaner yet. Featuring a new motor and a much smaller overall design, it’s hugely different from anything Dyson has done before, which meant we couldn’t wait to get it in to try.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones review: price and availability

The Dyson PencilVac is priced at £429.99, or $599.99 in the US. This is obviously a lot cheaper than many of the best Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners, including the Dyson V16 Piston Animal, so it’s going to gain a lot of attention from people wanting to know whether it’s a good alternative to some of the pricier models.

Personally, I think it’s a good price for the PencilVac. At the end of the day, it does come with slightly lower specs in order to achieve its incredibly lightweight design, so it’s good to see Dyson reflecting that in the price.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones review: unboxing and set up

The PencilVac is very easy to set up, and arguably a lot simpler than many other vacuum cleaners I’ve tried before. It comes in a very compact cardboard box which holds the charging base, the Fluffycones floorhead, the crevice tool, the top handle (which houses the battery) and the extension tube which also contains the collection bin.

From there, I simply slotted the handle into the extension tube and placed it onto the Fluffycones floorhead.

You’ll also find the power cable in the box, alongside two extra parts that need to be attached to the charging base. This results in a base that powers the vacuum whilst it’s docked, and also helps it stay upright.

The crevice tool also has a place to sit when it’s not in use, which keeps everything very tidy.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones review: design and features

There are many things that make the PencilVac unique, but I have to start with the collection bin, as it’s probably the feature many people have clicked on this review to see. It looks absolutely tiny, but it actually holds 0.8 litres, which is only 0.2 litres smaller than the average dust bin.

It works by using suction to compact dust at the top of the compartment, allowing it to keep working efficiently without becoming blocked as it fills. It’s a really clever piece of engineering from Dyson, making the bin part of the vacuum’s design whilst also contributing to how lightweight it feels.

To empty the vacuum, you remove the floorhead and point the base of the wand into your bin. You then release a catch on the back and draw the collection bin’s outer tube downwards, which pushes the compacted dust straight out.

There’s also a small interface on the front of the vacuum that displays the current power mode – Eco, Medium or Boost – along with the remaining battery time.

Speaking of the design, the PencilVac has a 38mm handle that fits neatly into your hand. Despite there being no traditional handle to grip, it's still surprisingly easy to control.

The Fluffycones floorhead itself features dust detection lights that help you spot dusty sections of floor, located on both the front and the back, so it doesn’t matter which direction you’re pushing the vacuum. It also features four conical brush bars, designed to lift and strip hair so it can be sucked up easily without tangling.

Alongside the floorhead, you also get a 2-in-1 crevice tool, which is great for corners and clearing cobwebs. As mentioned earlier, it sits neatly on the charging base when not in use, which is really handy and avoids having to hunt for attachments when you need them.

In terms of features, the PencilVac has a maximum suction power of 21kPa, powered by Dyson’s Hyperdymium 140k motor. The advanced four-cell lithium-ion battery system gives you around 30 minutes of battery life, which isn’t huge, but is one of the compromises made to achieve the compact design. That said, the batteries are swappable click-in units, so you could easily buy additional batteries and keep them charged to extend the runtime.

There’s also a fully sealed filtration system, which captures and seals in 99.99% of microscopic particles and allergens as small as 0.3 microns. The collection bin also features Dyson’s syringe-style emptying system, which reduces dust clouds by pushing the compacted debris deep into your bin.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones review: performance

To start with, the things I was initially concerned about with this vacuum have actually turned out to be two of its strongest points – the power and the compact compression bin.

The PencilVac is really powerful, and whilst it's a shame it doesn't operate well on carpets, it's a perfect choice for those with hard floors. The dust bin is also very impressive, and holds a lot more debris than you’d expect. To keep it performing at its best, I’d still recommend emptying it after each session, but it’s impressive how much it can collect.

I’ve seen mixed opinions on the Fluffycones floorhead, but personally I’ve been really impressed with it. The shape worked particularly well in my home, allowing me to manoeuvre easily into corners and tight spaces without constantly having to reposition the vacuum.

The spotlights are also one of my favourite features of the entire vacuum. Not only do they help you spot dust that you’d otherwise miss, but I love that they’re positioned on both the front and the back of the floorhead.

The one thing that took a little getting used to was emptying the vacuum. It’s not difficult by any means, but the concept is so different from most other vacuums that it feels a bit unfamiliar the first few times you do it. However, once you understand the sliding mechanism and how the compacted dust is pushed out, it quickly becomes second nature.

One limitation worth mentioning is that you can’t really use the PencilVac as a handheld vacuum, even with the crevice tool attached, as there’s no way to shorten the extension tube. This means the attachment is great for jobs like cleaning along skirting boards or reaching cobwebs in ceiling corners, but it’s less practical for typical handheld tasks like cleaning sofas, stairs or car interiors.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones review: verdict

Overall, the Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones is a very interesting and welcomed addition to Dyson’s cordless vacuum lineup. It won’t replace a full-power vacuum for homes with lots of carpets, but that’s not really what it’s trying to do. The clever compression bin, excellent dust-detecting lights and thoughtful charging dock design make it feel like a typically innovative Dyson product, even if a few compromises have been made to achieve such a slim design. If your home is mostly hard flooring and you want something effortless for regular cleans, the PencilVac is a fantastic option.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones review: alternatives to consider

If you like the sound of this review but think you’ll definitely need something more powerful, I’d strongly recommend the Dyson V16 Piston Animal. It’s much closer to your typical cordless vacuum, with a larger dust bin, stronger suction and longer battery life. Of course, it also comes with a higher price tag, but it’s a great option.

Another alternative to consider if you want to stick with something lightweight is the Gtech AirFOX Platinum. It weighs just 2.9kg, making it incredibly easy to move around the house, and it comes with a surprisingly generous set of accessories.

iRobot has announced its new Roomba Mini, the brand’s smallest Roomba yet. It packs a flexible cleaning system, allowing users to vacuum as well as mop, and comes in four fun colours – which is still pretty rare for even the best robot vacuums.

The Roomba Mini is reminiscent of the Switchbot Mini Robot Vacuum K10+ Pro, which we reviewed last September, which remains our favourite affordable robot vac in our buying guide. That said, the Roomba Mini is actually cheaper, so it'll be interesting to see whether it could overtake SwitchBot's alternative.

The Roomba Mini is already available to buy from iRobot’s online store, priced at £379 in the UK and €399 in Europe.

The Roomba Mini comes in pink, mint, white and black, and is designed to reach tight spaces and tricky corners. The disposable mopping pads trap dust and dirt whilst leaving a subtle citrus scent, and iRobot's ClearView LiDAR navigation helps it avoid obstacles and rugs.

The AutoEmpty Dock is included too, holding dirt for up to three months, and everything is controlled via the Roomba Home App.

If you’ve read any of my thoughts on the best robot vacuums before, you’ll know it takes a lot for me to be impressed by them. That means I only keep a handful of brands at the top of my list that I know consistently deliver outstanding models – and one of those is, of course, Eufy.

You’ll also probably know that we’re currently on day two of Amazon’s Spring Deal Days, which means there are hundreds of impressive discounts appearing across pretty much every category imaginable. However, whilst combing through the deals, I spotted that the one robot vacuum I’ve had my eye on for at least a year has had a huge £250 price cut.

I’m talking about the Eufy E25 Omni, and despite launching back in May last year, I haven’t actually had the chance to try it yet. That could all be about to change though, because at this price, it’s incredibly tempting.

The E25 boasts a seriously impressive 20,000Pa turbo suction power, alongside Auto-Detangling DuoSpiral brushes designed to pick up hair, dust and debris without getting clogged or tangled. It also features a CornerRover Arm, allowing the robot to reach deeper into edges and tricky corners for a more thorough clean.

I haven’t seen it this cheap for a very long time, so you have two options. You could grab one for yourself now, or wait until I get mine, hear me rave about it… and then buy one anyway. The choice is yours.

Watch out, Eufy – Shark has just debuted its latest robot vacuum cleaner and mop with UV light detection. The new Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal is the first robot vacuum and mop to use a combination of UV light and an RGB colour camera to show you just how dirty your floor really is – but the price will shock you.

One of my favourite vacuum cleaner features is the built-in light in the floorhead that illuminates your floors so you can see what dirt you’ve missed. But the new Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal takes this one step further with its new UV light detection that spots spills and stains that are invisible to the human eye.

To detect these stains, the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal has on-device sensors, cameras and uses its NeuroNav AI algorithm to help the robot move around your home, even at night. When looking for hidden spills, the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal uses visible lighting cues to find it before it starts to vacuum or mop.

Once the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal has detected a mess with its UV light, its HyperSonic Mopping starts to scrub and remove stains. The robot vacuum will verify that the mess has been cleaned before it moves onto different areas of your floors and home.

Packed full of sensors, the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal has eight PowerDetect technologies that senses different floor types, edges and objects. It can also lift itself over obstacles and small boundaries with its wheels, a newer robot vacuum trend that many other brands have been exploring, including Roborock and Dreame.

For those who hate emptying their vacuum – who doesn’t?! – the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal comes with its ThermaCharged NeverTouch Pro Base which self-empties, cleans and sanitises it for you. It cleans the mop pads after each use to keep everything hygienic, and seals dirt in its bagless base without releasing allergens.

Aside from clean-up, the base of the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal also charges it. The robot vacuum-mop runs for up to three hours, and if it needs recharging, the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal will return itself to the base for a top-up before continuing your clean.

The PowerDetect UV Reveal is available to buy now for $1,299 at Shark. As of writing, it’s not yet available in the UK or Europe. Compared to other robot vacuum-mops, this is a pretty high price so we’ll have to see if it’s worth the price tag – stay tuned!

Bissell has unveiled a new cordless vacuum and mop designed specifically with pet owners in mind. The CrossWave HydroScrub joins the wider CrossWave lineup, bringing with it the brand’s HydroScrub technology, which is claimed to tackle stuck-on messes up to four times faster than previous models.

The CrossWave HydroScrub features tangle-Free technology to help reduce hair wrapping around the brush roll – something that can quickly become frustrating with even the best cordless vacuum cleaners. It also includes Furfinder Headlights, designed to illuminate hidden dust and debris so nothing is missed.

The CrossWave HydroScrub has an RRP of $369.99 and is currently exclusive to the US. UK shoppers can’t get this specific model just yet, but there are other options in the range available, including the CrossWave OmniForce Edge.

Roborock has launched its latest robot vacuum in the UK just days after unveiling its CES headline model. The Qrevo Curv 2 Pro is the brand’s most advanced hybrid floor-cleaning robot yet, arriving shortly after the Saros 20, which remains Roborock’s most powerful vacuum to date.

The Qrevo Curv 2 Pro is packed with clever features designed to make everyday cleaning easier. One highlight is the new AdaptiLift chassis, a three-wheel suspension system that automatically lifts and adjusts so the robot can glide over carpets up to 3cm thick.

The Qrevo Curv 2 Pro is available now for £1,199.99 from Amazon and the official Roborock store.

Another standout upgrade is automatic mop detachment during vacuum-only cleaning. This means carpets stay completely dry whilst the rest of your floors still get mopped, solving a common frustration with hybrid robot vacuums.

With 25,000 Pa suction, it sits comfortably among the best robot vacuums available, even if it doesn’t quite match the Saros 20. RetractSense navigation lets it slip under low sofas and furniture, whilst AI-powered mapping helps it avoid obstacles and clean efficiently without getting stuck.

The Multifunctional Dock 3.0 Hygiene+ also automatically empties dust, refills water, and washes the mops using 100 °C hot water for improved hygiene, achieving a claimed 99.99% bacteria removal rate certified by TÜV Rheinland.

Roborock’s most powerful robot vacuum to date is finally available to buy, after nearly two months of anticipation. First unveiled at CES 2026, the Roborock Saros 20 immediately turned heads thanks to its huge 36,000Pa suction power. Not only is that the strongest vacuum Roborock has ever made, it’s also one of the most powerful robot vacuums currently on the market.

The Saros 20 also features Roborock’s new AdaptiLift Chassis 3.0 system, an industry-leading upgrade that allows it to clear double thresholds measuring 4.5 + 4.4cm. This means it’s built to handle steps and other tricky transitions around your home without getting stuck.

Pre-orders are now open in parts of Europe for an RRP of €1,499, but is currently discounted to €1,289. Early buyers also get a free accessory gift set and a one-year warranty extension. UK pricing and availability are still to be confirmed, but we’ll update as soon as we hear more.

The new model comes with the latest version of Roborock’s RockDock, which offers 100°C hot water mop washing, dock self-cleaning, warm air drying and automatic mop removal. For navigation, the Saros 20 uses the Autonomous StarSight System 2.0, combining LiDAR and 3D ToF sensors, all housed in a slim 7.95cm body.

There are some thoughtful software upgrades too. Users can manually mark curtains within the Roborock app to ensure the robot properly cleans between the fabric and the window. Meanwhile, the DirTect function detects stains and automatically adjusts settings like suction power to suit the mess.

Shark has just debuted its latest portable cleaning system, and it’s being dubbed “a faster, smarter way to clean”. The new Shark EveryMess 3-in-1 Portable Cleaning System is a wet, dry and spot cleaner in one compact device, and tackles all stains and spills across multiple surfaces.

Aside from its line-up of vacuum cleaners, Shark has quickly become known for its range of spot and stain cleaners, and the new EveryMess is no exception. The Shark EveryMess 3-in-1 Portable Cleaning System combines a wet vacuum, dry vacuum and stain eliminator in one, and comes with multiple attachments for different messes.

Available in the UK and US, the Shark EveryMess 3-in-1 Portable Cleaning System has slightly different dimensions, depending on the country you buy it from. If you’re in the UK, the Shark EveryMess measures 22.7cm length x 36.9cm width x 36.4cm height while the US edition is 26.7cm x 41.9cm x 34.3cm.

I always find it a bit strange when a brand new product gets discounted. Usually, it’s older models that drop in price when a replacement arrives, or hugely popular gadgets during big shopping events like Black Friday or Prime Day. However, a new release that's had a hefty price cut? That hardly ever happens.

And yet, it’s just happened with the Tapo RV50 Pro Omni – a robot vacuum and mop that I’ve only very recently tested myself. It launched last November but didn’t actually go on sale until December, and it boasts an impressive 15,000Pa of suction along with a few clever features that help it stand out.

Now, though, the Tapo RV50 Pro Omni has dropped to just £449.98 on Amazon, down from its original £749.99. Yes, really – you can see the deal for yourself below.

As I said, I really don’t know why the price has fallen so quickly. I enjoyed reviewing the RV50 Pro Omni and gave it four stars in the end, finding it to be a nice robot vacuum that will suit anyone who wants a maintenance-free cleaning experience.

So honestly, the only advice I can give is to grab this excellent deal on a very capable robot before it disappears. I’m almost tempted myself, and that’s saying something.

Watch out, Shark – Hoover has just debuted its new HF3 DynamicClean Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, and it could give Shark’s anti-hair wrap technology a run for its money. The Hoover HF3 is a budget-friendly cordless vacuum with a powerful motor, and an anti-tangling floorhead – and it’s already been discounted.

The newest addition to Hoover’s cordless line-up, the Hoover HF3 is equipped with a powerful high-speed motor which delivers up to 150 AW of suction that cleans up messes on both carpet and hardwood floors. The floorhead has been engineered to pick up dirt on both sides so it can get close to edges and tight corners.

Speaking of the floorhead, my favourite feature is its anti-hair wrap technology, something that its competitor, Shark, is best known for. The Hoover HF3 has an integrated comb within the floorhead that prevents pet and human hair from getting tangled in the brushbar.

Aside from offering a better clean-up, this anti-hair wrap feature minimises maintenance of the vacuum – and means you don’t have to cut out clumps of hair from the floorhead (ew). The Hoover HF3 also has an advanced H13 HEPA filtration system that traps dust and bacteria to reduce allergens in the air to keep everything fresh.

With up to 60 minutes of runtime on a single charge, the Hoover HF3 has three cleaning modes to choose from – eco, standard and turbo. Each mode affects the battery, so you can expect an hour of cleaning in eco mode, 30 minutes in standard and 10 minutes in turbo.

Other notable features of the Hoover HF3 include LED headlights on the floorhead to illuminate dirt and improve vision underneath furniture, and a wall charging mount. It also comes with an integrated dusting brush and crevice tool for hard-to-reach areas.

The Hoover HF3 is available to buy now for £179.99 at Hoover and select retailers, like Amazon and Argos. As of writing, it’s been discounted to £129. Even without the discount, the Hoover HF3 has a much more affordable price than its competitors, and is almost half the price you’d expect to pay for a similar style Shark vacuum.

Dyson has just announced its latest wet floor cleaner, and it might beat the Wash G1 as my favourite Dyson cleaning tool. The new Dyson PencilWash is lighter and smaller than its other range of wet cleaners with an improved handle, weight and floorhead – here’s everything you need to know.

Best known for its line-up of vacuum cleaners, Dyson has since expanded into wet floor cleaners with the launch of the Dyson Wash G1 in 2024. This cleaner solved the common mop problem where dirty mops contaminate clean water buckets and your floors by incorporating clean and dirty water tanks into the design.

The Dyson PencilWash is the latest model, and unlike the Wash G1 which has separate water tanks protruding from the main body of the cleaner, the clean and dirty tanks are hidden within the floorhead. The 300ml clean water tank can clean up to 100m² while dirty water is extracted from the roller and sealed off in a separate tank.

The design of the Dyson PencilWash has similarities to the Dyson PencilVac, the brand’s newest slim vacuum cleaner. It has the same 38mm handle as the PencilVac, making it extremely slim and lightweight to maneuver. It also weighs just 2.2kg, twists gradually to steer around corners and can lie flat to 15cm to get under furniture.

For mopping, the Dyson PencilWash has two hydration modes so you can adjust the amount of water it releases. The floorhead features a microfibre roller that spins to remove wet and dry spills, and has an 8-point hydration system to deliver a fresh flow. This also helps the Dyson PencilWash cater to different floor types and stains.

I have the Dyson Wash G1 at home, and really enjoy using it, although I’ve often found it hard to carry up stairs to clean my bathroom floor. The Dyson PencilWash definitely sounds like it’s solved this issue, and the slimmer size and tanks has made the overall design less bulky.

Similar to the Wash G1, the Dyson PencilWash has a 30 minute runtime and comes with a swappable battery pack.

The Dyson PencilWash will be available to buy in March with a price of £299.99.

Eufy has launched a brand new robot vacuum cleaner that looks far more affordable than many of its predecessors. The new Eufy Robot Vacuum C28 was on show at CES, but understandably stood in the shadow of the highly anticipated Eufy Omni S2 – a robot vacuum that many people have been eyeing up since it first appeared at IFA 2025.

The C28 also comes with an impressive 5-in-1 docking station, which automatically takes care of dust emptying, mop washing, water refilling, hot-air drying and wastewater collection. Even compared to some of the best robot vacuum cleaners out there, this feels impressively low-maintenance from Eufy.

It's available now for £649 or €599 via Eufy’s own website – roughly half the price of the Eufy Omni S2. This is great to see considering how close together the two robots were launched.

Beyond its impressive base station, the robot itself offers up to 15,000Pa of suction power and uses Eufy’s anti-tangle DuoSpiral brush, designed to pick up dust and hair without everything wrapping around the roller. Anti-tangle tech is clearly becoming a must-have for many households, with the recently reviewed Tapo RV50 Pro Omni also reflecting this trend with a built-in cutting brush.

As it has mopping functionality too, the C28 features Eufy’s HydroJet roller mopping system, which we’ve seen on other models from the brand. It works by supplying fresh water that's continuously sprayed onto the mop, whilst a built-in scraper removes dirt as it cleans. Users can also control everything through the Eufy app, where they can customise cleaning routines and tweak room maps.

Tapo is well-known for making some of the best security cameras out there, but its lineup of robot vacuum cleaners deserve some attention too, especially as of late. Its most recent model, the RV50 Pro Omni, arrived in my review pile before Christmas – and I've been rather impressed ever since unboxing it.

Boasting a nice 15,000Pa of suction and an interesting hair cutting feature that instantly had me intrigued, it's definitely up there with some of the strongest robot vacuum cleaners on the market today. However, if you're wondering whether it earns a spot in your home, you'll find the answer below.

Initally, the RV50 Pro Omni feels very hands-off, especially when it comes to the all-in-one self-cleaning dock. Despite being fairly compact, it takes care of dust emptying, mop washing, drying and even detergent dispensing. It also houses a 3-litre dust bag that should last around two months, with replacements available directly from TP-Link when you eventually get through it.

The mop pads are washed using 60°C hot water and then dried with 50°C warm air, which is great for preventing smells and bacteria build-up. When mopping, the pads apply consistent pressure, whilst extendable mop arms help it reach edges and corners most robot vacuums miss.

The real highlight is the tangle-free cutting brush and anti-tangle side brushes, which are ideal if you have long hair or pets.

Believe it or not, this is a pretty unique feature on a lot of vacuum cleaners, whether they're cordless or robotic. I've seen a lot of the best cordless vacuum cleaners have a specially designed 'anti-tangle' brush roller, which helps suction hair instead of it getting caught. However, to find a vacuum that actually cuts it before entering the dust bag feels very revolutionary.

Smart features are handled through the Tapo app, where you can view maps, set no-go zones, label rooms and schedule cleans, but I'll explain more of this shortly.

Finally, the RV50 Pro Omni features dual lasers and a range of sensors, allowing it to plan efficient routes and adapt its cleaning approach based on which room it's in. Again, this is something becoming more common, but really helps the overall cleaning result.

Tapo RV50 Pro Omni review: app

Setup via the app was very easy, and a lot simpler than some of my other experiences. Normally, you’d just download the Tapo app, create an account and add the RV50 – but since I already have a couple of Tapo security cameras in my setup, it was simply a case of adding another device.

The robot mapped my downstairs very quickly and automatically created virtual rooms in the app. This is also where you find all the expected features, including room-specific cleaning, zone cleaning, vacuum-only or mop-only modes, schedules, no-go zones and floor-type customisation. There’s also a useful Point and Go feature that lets you send the robot directly to a specific spot for a quick clean.

You can also link the RV50 to Google Home or Alexa, which I did. However, thanks to its Matter-compatibility, it can integrate more broadly than you might initially think.

Tapo RV50 Pro Omni review: performance

It’s no secret that the RV50 Pro Omni is one of Tapo’s best robot vacuums to date, especially when it comes to maintenance-free features. I had a positive experience testing it, and it comfortably sits alongside some of the stronger models I’ve reviewed recently.

One thing I really appreciated was the base station’s size, and despite handling both vacuuming and mopping, it’s pleasantly compact. It fits neatly under a unit or alongside a sideboard, and stays mostly out of sight. The robot itself is a standard size and docks cleanly when charging or after finishing a clean.

In terms of design, it also looks and feels premium. The matte black finish paired with semi-translucent water tanks gives it an expensive look, and even though it's not available in other colourways, the black is still very nice.

When it comes to performance, it was very efficient, and handled both carpeted and hard-floor rooms well. Thanks to its moderate suction level, it performed best on hard floors, though that’s fairly typical. The main roller brush does most of the work, but the side brushes are great for corners and along skirting boards.

Its mopping performance is also excellent, and I particularly liked that the mop pads can extend beyond the robot’s body, letting it clean right up against kitchen cabinets and edges.

It’s worth mentioning that whilst 15,000Pa isn’t industry-leading, it’s still very respectable. That said, at this price I might have hoped for something closer to 20,000Pa, but it certainly didn't feel underpowered.

One of my absolute favourite features remains the tangle-free cutting brush. It completely stopped hair from wrapping around the roller, which I was initially worried about. After weeks of testing, the underside of the robot stayed impressively clean, which felt very satisfying indeed.

Unfortunately, there is one downside worth flagging. The detergent bottle is designed specifically for the dock and can’t be refilled, meaning you’re stuck with using Tapo’s own solution. At the time of writing, it’s not available as a standalone purchase either, which feels a bit odd.

I haven't gotten through the detergent yet, and I expect it should last a few more months, but given that replacement mop pads and brushes are available, the detergent situation feels slightly disorganised.

Tapo RV50 Pro Omni review: verdict

The Tapo RV50 Pro Omni is an impressive robot vacuum and mop that really leans into low-maintenance cleaning. Whilst it doesn’t quite top the charts on suction, its compact design, all-in-one dock and innovative tangle-free cutting brush make up for it. It's easily Tapo’s best robot vacuum to date, especially if you want a hands-off model that just gets on with the job.

Tapo RV50 Pro Omni review: alternatives to consider

The Tapo RV30 Plus remains our favourite maintenance-free option in our buying guide, and it’s a very strong alternative if you’re looking to spend a little less.

If you’re after more suction power, similar hands-off features and have the budget to stretch further, the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra is also an excellent choice. There’s many reasons why it earned five stars, and you can read all about that in my full review.

T3’s Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai review in a sentence: A premium robot vacuum that benefits from beefy features but isn’t quite as smart as we’d hoped for.

The robot vacuum cleaner marketplace is packed with plenty of options. There are models that just vacuum, others that offer hard floor mopping too and, naturally, plenty that pack some AI now that everything has to have something vaguely artificial intelligence about it. The Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai robot vacuum even has it in the product title, just to underline that point.

This is the follow up to the Dyson 360 Vis Nav robot vacuum, which appeared a couple of years ago. That was a bold, brash and very pricey appliance that didn’t really catch on. The Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai is less showy and packs a more impressive set of premium features instead but, bizarrely, less suction. It’s big, bulky and does a little bit of everything, all topped off with some good old AI magic via a new app. I recently got one to try out and I’ve now spent a decent amount of time picking through its features.

One thing to note, which is often the case with feature-packed appliances, the best robot vacuums tend to be quite sizable and the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai is no exception. At 9kg, the docking station that comes as part of package is pretty chunky and, to be honest, not quite as good on the eye as something like the Dreame Aqua10 Roller Complete I tried a while ago. If you’ve got space though, the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai might be right up your street.

Alongside distinctive styling, Dyson products invariably come with a premium price tag and the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai is no different. The RRP for this model in the UK is £1,050 direct from the Dyson website, which is a lot although other premium robot vacuums from the likes of Dreame, Roborock and Eufy pack similar recommended retail price tags.

For the US market, the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai will likely cost in the region of $1,100 with official pricing yet to be announced. This is a serious machine aimed at buyers who want a do-it-all robot vac. The Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai does a lot, although it seems a bit miserly of them not to include mopping detergent as part of the package. Oh well.

Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai review: design

This is an expensive package, which comes with AI stain detection and intelligent navigation that lets it spot and avoid different objects in its path. On top of that, there is a low-maintenance design, which once set up requires minimal supervision. However, the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai is up against stiff competition especially when it comes to similar appliances that also offer warm water roller cleaning and a cleverly engineered app.

The Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai looks and feels like a serious bit of cleaning kit and arrives in a large box containing all of the component parts. I found getting it out and setup up very straightforward, which is always a bonus. The core components consist of the robot vacuum itself, plus rotating brushes that need to be clicked in place on the underside. Complimenting that is the sizable docking station, all of which is finished in black plastic.

Of course, this being a Dyson, there are some purple and red flourishes that remind you it’s a Dyson, most notably on the bin container and also on the underside of the robot vacuum. Not that this part is exactly visible unless you pick it up. This is also where the roller mop is situated, which in turn is kept operational by using the clean and dirty water tanks back on the base station to keep it going. Warm water cleaning is a positive here too, although this is a common feature on many of the latest robot vacuums.

One thing that does irk me is having to buy bags for vacuums, especially if they’re not very big and require more frequent replacement. The Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai wins on that front as it’s a bagless design with a tubular bin that sits in the docking station, with the water containers sitting immediately to its right. The docking station is also home for the robot vac when it’s not being used or when it needs recharging.

Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai review: performance

Once I’d got everything ready to go, which involved filling the clean water tank and adding cleaning detergent via a small port behind the container and charging, I called on the app to get mapping. The Dyson app looks quite good, but it didn’t seem quite as cleverly thought out as some of the rivals from those brands I mentioned above. It was a little bit patchy in places and could do with being a little more intuitive. I expected it to be smarter if I'm honest.

However, as a robot vacuum that just gets on with the job, I found the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai to be a very solid performer. At 18,000Pa the suction seemed decent enough and with those twin rotating brushes, the 6.6kg robot vacuum unit got into corners and around obstacles nicely too. The bin volume is 3 litres on the cleaner, but naturally that wasn’t an issue thanks to the chunky docking station that handled operational tasks like bin emptying and charging seamlessly. The robot vacuum has a runtime of up to 200 minutes as well, which is impressive.

On the point of the roller/mopping side of things, the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai definitely benefits from warm water roller cleaning, which it does as the roller revolves within the unit. This does make a real difference to the way these appliances works rather than using less effective cold water for flushing through. I’m not sure just how good the AI spot scrubbing side of things works, mind.

It worked fine on drips and drops that I put in its path. Similarly, the robot vacuum was able to spot more stubborn marks on my floors and did return to have a go at getting rid of them. The combined weight of the robot vacuum, the long roller and the dual-laser LiDAR did seem to help with its determination to assist. Overall, I’d say this side of the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai is acceptable enough if you’re not keen on getting a damp cloth and simply doing it yourself.

Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai review: verdict

With its fancy moniker, the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai sounds impressive and it is an effective all round cleaner. Suction has been slightly reduced, apparently due to the way the roller cleaning works – there’s a lot packed into that body. Ironically, the Dyson 360 Vis Nav packed 22,000Pa. However, the appliance picked up all of the usual dust and detritus found on my hard floors. I think I’d still use a cordless stick vacuum for deeper carpet cleans mind.

Then there is the smart side of things, with the AI aspect being able to spot nearly 200 objects and avoid them whilst doing a cleaning round. I found this pretty good too, although if you, like me, prefer to have a proper vacuum job done, I found it was best to just pick up anything that could potentially get in the robot vacuum's path. All told, a little bit of human intervention let me get the best from this machine I think. Same goes for the spot scrubbing. It works, but I’m still better at getting jam stains off my laminate floors.

Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai review: alternatives to consider

There are oodles of bargains to be had in the robot vacuum marketplace with even the top models getting sizable discounts if the price tag here doesn't appeal. The Dreame X50 Ultra Complete robot vacuum, the beefy Ultenic T10, or the Hoover HG4 Hydro Pro, are all well worth a look. Elsewhere, the impressive Shark Matrix Plus Robot Vacuum has full vac and mop functionality as does the Roborock Qrevo Master robot vacuum.

For larger rooms, the iRobot Roomba Combo J9+ is a dependable option and does a little bit of everything. Meanwhile, the eufy Clean X8 Pro machine is similarly impressive as is the eufy X9 Pro and the keenly priced iRobot Roomba j7+. Finally, try looking at the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, the SwitchBot Mini K10+, the Eufy Omni S1 Pro or the Roborock Saros 10, all of which cover a variety of requirements.

DJI could be upgrading its first-ever Romo robot vacuum cleaners with Matter support – here’s everything we know so far.

It was recently spotted that DJI had joined the Connectivity Standards Alliance or CSA, the global organisation that developed the Matter smart home standard. What this has led many people to believe is DJI could be adding Matter support to its Romo robot vacuums.

DJI moved away from drones and into robot vacuums last year, debuting its trio of Romo robot vacs in China in August before expanding to Europe in October. All three versions offer drone-grade LiDAR sensors, obstacle detection, vacuuming and mopping, and self-emptying.

The main difference between the DJI Romo vacuums are the design with the Romo S in white, Romo A with a white base and transparent top, and the Romo P which is fully transparent.

Despite the Romo series being DJI’s first stab at a robot vacuum line-up, it seems to have covered almost every feature you could want from one – and now Matter could be up next.

DJI joining CSA is a sign that the company could be focusing on Matter in the future and appealing to more smart home ecosystems, including Apple Home, Alexa and Google Home.

This potential Matter update could also make DJI more competitive in the robot vacuum space, as brands like Roborock, SwitchBot, Dreame and Ecovacs already have Matter support for some of its models.

However, this is the only hint that DJI might be adding Matter to its Romo line-up, as the company hasn’t officially announced anything. It’s also unclear whether its current Romo vacuums will be getting Matter support or if DJI will be launching a new series with Matter as standard – we’ll just have to wait and see.

Kärcher has just launched its new RVF 7 Comfort Extra robot vacuum in Europe, offering both vacuuming and mopping capabilities. It also introduces Kärcher’s first roller mop system, which means a constant supply of fresh water and an internal wiping mechanism that prevents dirt being dragged around your floors.

It follows on from the Kärcher RCV 5, which we gave four stars last November thanks to its accurate mapping and obstacle detection. The RVF 7 Comfort Extra is similar, but is upgraded with a more advanced base station and increased suction power.

It’s currently available in countries like Germany and Spain for €1,300, although there’s no word yet on a UK launch. We’ll update you as soon as we know more.

The RVF 7 Comfort Extra is designed to clean a little more intelligently too, detecting dirt and automatically adjusting how it cleans. Navigation is handled by a combination of a camera and laser sensor, whilst the multifunctional dock takes care of emptying the dustbin, disposing of dirty water and topping up the clean water tank. The roller mop is automatically washed with warm water and dried, so it’s ready to go again without any effort.

Suction is limited to 10,000Pa, which is a noticeable upgrade over its predecessor, even if it doesn’t quite match the levels some of the best robot vacuums are pushing these days. Still, with the new roller mop system, it’s a very interesting addition to Kärcher’s lineup.

XLean has revealed its plans for the TR1, which it’s calling the world’s first 3-in-1 transformable floor washing robot. This essentially means it’s a robot vacuum, cordless vacuum and a mop all rolled into one, with the mop working in both robot and handheld modes. If you’ve ever gone back and forth trying to decide whether to buy a robot vacuum or a cordless one, this feels like a very direct answer.

The TR1 was on show at CES, where it demonstrated its self-evolving intelligence system. This means it actually learns your cleaning habits and techniques when you use it in cordless mode, then it applies them when it’s cleaning autonomously as a robot.

However, like many other exciting gadgets at the show, the TR1 is still in development and isn’t available to buy just yet.

When I first saw the TR1, my mind immediately started thinking how complicated it must be to use, but switching between modes actually looks quite simple. The LiDAR puck on top of the robot retracts, revealing a port where the wand and handle slot in. The robot vacuum then becomes the floorhead of the cordless cleaner.

From what we can tell, the TR1 is aimed mostly at hard floors, with a mopping system that looks very advanced. It uses two counter-rotating roller mops, continuously fed with clean water whilst dirty water is siphoned away, and the dock can clean both the robot and itself.

Suction is limited to 17,000Pa, which doesn’t quite match the higher levels we’re seeing from some newer robot vacuums. However, the ability to use it as a cordless vacuum for quick, targeted cleans adds a level of flexibility most robot vacuums simply don’t have.

As mentioned, it's still early days, but the xLean TR1 is one of those concepts that feels like it could change how we think about home cleaning. I’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on whether it makes it to market.

Launched in 2025, the Ecovacs Deebot X11 OmniCyclone comes packed with AI powered features on top of some good old fashioned suction power. While it performs well as a robot vacuum (and especially as a bagless option), the advanced features do little to justify its high end price tag.

Lots of the more advanced features seem buried in the settings and the more of these I enabled the less impressed I was with its performance. Here's my full review of the Ecovacs Deebot X11 OmniCyclone.

Ecovacs Deebot X11 OmniCyclone review: Design and build quality

The Deebot X11 is a nice looking robot and unlike a lot of recent LiDAR-directed models, it doesn’t have a nub sticking out of the top, giving it a lower profile that is helpful for finding its way under furniture. It’s all dark grey and blacks but I’m all for low profile looks in vacuum cleaners, and even more so in docking stations.

The docking station is a little bit larger than some others, thanks mainly to the cyclone dust bin which pops out for emptying. The left side panel detaches to allow you to add cleaning detergent and the water tanks lift out of the back of the station for refilling and emptying.

Everything feels well built and sturdy, although personally I do feel nervous lifting the water tanks out by the lids that are only latched in place as this feels like a potential (very wet) failure point. A separate handle would very much put me at ease.

The app works well and after pairing with the robot you set it off to map your home. The map it returns is only 2D (although the 3D maps offered by some rivals are entirely pointless in my opinion) and it did need a bit of tweaking to add some room divisions and rename some rooms.

You then have the option to start a whole house clean or select 1 or more rooms on the map to start a limited clean. You also have the option to set scenarios where you can define specific spots within rooms for a quick post dinner vacuum or to clean a pet area. Cleanings can be scheduled or set for a delayed start.

The app also hides quite a few settings that you might expect to be enabled by default but you will need to activate in the Robot advanced settings section. This includes things like Intelligent Deep Mopping which instructs it to re-mop areas where it detects heavy dirt and AI Stain Detection. You can also tweak how it treats carpet including activating a suction boost to improve cleaning.

It's Matter compatible and so works with smart home systems although, while I found voice control to be fine for starting a whole house clean, for specific room cleans it struggled. After specifying a room to clean the robot would often get ready to clean, leave the dock and then say that it couldn’t find the area and immediately return to its dock.

One of the major selling points of the X11 Agent Hosting mode that claims to ensure its tasks are approached efficiently and the right cleaning settings are delivered according to the floor type. While it did seem to do a reasonable job at battery management (more on that later) I didn’t notice it pull up any trees in terms of changing the settings for different floor types and I got better results tweaking the settings myself.

Vacuum performance is generally good with it picking up all the fine particles in our test on both hard floors and carpet, although it did have a little bit more trouble with larger debris, with some grains of rice left in the carpet and the side brush scattering some across the hard floor - even when the specific feature to prevent this happening turned on.

Like a lot of robot vacuums edge cleaning isn’t great, it has a side brush for dragging material into its path but it definitely wasn’t enough to clear out even large bits of dirt.

Obstacle avoidance performance was mixed, with it managing to navigate around a charging cable and shoe but it missing a sock, instead getting it caught in the robot. It moved around a bit in a fruitless attempt to free itself which seemed to make it lose its place on the map, eventually abandoning the clean completely and attempting to return to the dock with the sock still stuck in the brush at which point I intervened.

Mopping worked well with fresh spills, but it struggled with a dried stain as, with AI stain detection turned on in the settings, it failed to identify a test ketchup stain and the cursory mopping it gave it failed to make much of a dent.

Even adding a manual cleaning zone over the stain and selecting the highest cleaning settings didn’t help it make a lot more progress, or seem to identify the stain - although it did consider a loose piece of onion skin on the floor of the kitchen a stain.

While it wasn’t great at heavy stains, it did edge mopping pretty well thanks to its roller mop that extends out as it moves around objects like chair legs.

Emptying the docking station is fairly easy although messier (and a more regular task) than disposing of a sealed bag. The cylinder that empties the robot pops out of the dock and is emptied like the dust container of a bagless handheld vacuum, with a button opening the bottom to let out the collected dirt. Whether you’d rather pay for the tidier option of bags will be a personal choice.

The angled anti-tangle brush does well not to get clogged with hair even in a home with pets and people with long hair. Like some other hybrids that clean the mop inside the station, this will need periodic cleaning.

One of the better parts of the Agent hosting mode is its ability to manage its battery when combined with its PowerBoost feature, with it periodically returning to the dock for quick bursts of power while it also washes the roller mop and empties itself.

This meant there wasn’t a lot of downtime and it managed to complete a clean of around 1,000 sq. ft of mixed floor types in 165 minutes on standard settings. This makes it a great option for larger homes as it can clean a lot longer uninterrupted than some rivals.

While the Deebot X11 has some impressive features and performs some of its tasks well it doesn’t quite justify its place at the top end of the market when compared with rivals that produce better results, especially when it comes to mopping.

A lot of the higher end features like stain detection don’t come turned on by default and after seeing them fail to perform that starts to make sense. While it is a capable robot vacuum hybrid, there are better options at this end of the market.

For a similar price, look at the Eufy E25 Omni which improves on the Deebot’s mopping performance and has one of the best object avoidance systems I have seen. It is a taller robot so may struggle to get under some furniture and requires vacuum bags but it is a great hybrid.

For a bit more, you can upgrade to the Roborock Qrevo CurvX, which performs excellently as a vacuum and a mop although again you will need to buy dust bags.
