Amazon has rebranded Kindle Unlimited, its subscription service that gives access to "millions" of eBooks for one monthly fee. And it's added an additional perk for the same price – but not in every country, as yet.

Now called Kindle+ (because every service is adopting the "plus" suffix these days), the platform continues to offer books, comic books, and magazines for just $11.99 in the US, but it now also includes "thousands of audiobooks".

Sadly, that's not the case for British readers. The name has changed to Kindle+ in the UK, too, but the audiobooks are currently excluded.

So for £9.49 per month, you still get access to a vast library of eBooks and magazines, but only to read yourself. You'll still need a separate Audible subscription to listen to audiobooks from Amazon.

Another restriction that remains after the transition is that you are still limited to lending just 20 titles at a time, but I've personally never found that an issue. Even with family sharing, that's a decent amount of books and magazines to read. You can then easily replace any that have been finished or forgotten about.

There's a deal on Kindle+ for new subscribers too, with 30-days free before the payments start. Alternatively, you can pay just £3.99 in the UK for two-month access at the beginning of your subscription.

You'll notice that Amazon has purged the "Kindle Unlimited" name from its entire website in your region, replacing it with the Kindle+ branding. And you can filter titles to those available with the service by just hitting the Kindle+ tag on the Kindle eBook store page.

Hopefully, select audiobooks will start to be available in other territories as well soon, as Amazon told The Verge that it plans to expand availability to other markets "over time".

RPG fans and gamers in general are reeling today over the news that beloved studio BioWare is being closed down by Electronic Arts. The Mass Effect sequel it had in development has also been cancelled.

However, fans of the franchise might take some solace in the fact that a forthcoming Mass Effect TV series seems to be still on the cards.

According to IGN, Amazon is pressing ahead with its planned Mass Effect adaptation for Prime Video. It writes that the creative team assigned to the project are still on board, including former Marvel Studios boss Ari Arad and the writer of Mindhunter and Star Trek Beyond, Doug Jung, plus the writer of Fast & Furious 9, Daniel Casey.

Officially announced a couple of years ago, the show will feature the deep lore and universe built by BioWare but tell its own stories. That could be something fans can now look forward to, considering the game series looks to be over.

As a fan of the Mass Effect series myself (and BioWare's RPGs generally) I was thrilled to learn a fifth instalment was in the works. I too gushed at the teaser trailer posted five years ago.

I am therefore also shocked and bemused by the closure of the studio, and primarily hope that every staff member involved is treated fairly, reasonably and find opportunities elsewhere quickly.

On top of this, I also hope that some of them manage to form a new studio from the ashes, to work on equally ambitious role-playing concepts (I loved my playthrough of Dragon Age: The Veilguard).

I also hope the new owners of EA sell the rights to the Mass Effect franchise, either to this new company or another publisher that understands its worth. Maybe even Amazon, which is the custodian of Tomb Raider these days too.

Whatever happens, I will be eagerly awaiting the new TV series hitting streaming sometime in the future, and hope that it'll show EA exactly what it's missing.

It doesn't get much more '90s than Baywatch – even if the show technically launched right at the end of the 1980s. A show that launched careers and made sex icons out of most of its stars, it also brought up a generation of viewers with the idea that there was basically no job more heroic than being a beach lifeguard, and now it's back.

After a pretty terrible movie in 2017 with The Rock in a mainline role, this series looks like it's a bit more of a faithful reimagining of what Baywatch would look like in our current times, and it's coming to Prime Video at the start of 2027. The fact that it just got its first trailer (and it's a pretty long one) shows that Amazon hopes it has a real hit on its hands, here.

As with the old Baywatch, while much of the conversation will remain on the frankly ridiculous cuts of the swimwear being worn by female members of the team, this revival does seem to be going 'equal opportunities' when it comes to beauty standards – every single one of its cast seems to be the most absurdly buff person imaginable, whatever their gender.

The head of the team is none other than Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon – the son of David Hasselhof's iconic character from the original show. He's the captain of Baywatch now, and he's built like a superhero (which makes sense, since he played Green Arrow for so long). He's good at what he does, and loves doing it, but doesn't see one major twist coming.

That twist is his biological daughter, Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale, who rocks up out of the blue hoping to join Baywatch and do what she was born to do (save people). Hobie's going to have to wrestle with whether he can watch his daughter do such a dangerous job without intervening, but also with whether stopping her would mean having no relationship at all.

Beyond that, there will doubtless be accidents, rescues and conspiracies to uncover, as well as steamy romances to watch between various members of the crew, all of whom are stupidly beautiful. It looks like it could be a really indulgent, fun time – but we'll have to wait until 2027 to get a better sense of that.

A few eyebrows were raised when Amazon announced it had acquired AI startup Bee last year, not least because it was thought to be purely to improve and expand its own Alexa+ service. However, the purchase has resulted in two new devices – in the US, at least.

The Bee Frontier is a personal AI that you wear on your wrist. It looks like a fitness band but takes note of all your conversations and meetings, remembering them for you to help you organise your life as you go.

You can select when Bee processes audio by pressing a microphone button, so it won't breach privacy when you don't want it to. And there's a light that comes on when it's listening to help you and others know when it's snooping.

It has seven days of battery life and is IP67 water resistant, so can be worn in all weathers.

The Bee Eclipse uses similar listening and AI technology but is a MagSafe compatible accessory for your phone – so works with iPhone and Google Pixel devices. It simply attaches to the back, so you always have it to hand.

It comes with 21 days of battery life and can turn conversations into summaries, insights and to-do lists.

The audio is never stored or shared, but the AI will remember previous results and learn as it grows. That way it can understand your lifestyle and daily activities.

While both of the new Bee devices work with dedicated AI software, and hook up to the Bee mobile and desktop apps, they can also connect with Alexa+ and Amazon.com. This allows you to use other Alexa+-enabled devices to access your Bee information and summaries.

You can also use it for shopping recommendations.

The Bee Frontier band is available in the US for $74.99 in three colours – onyx, lavender, and sage. The Bee Eclipse will follow soon, starting at $99.99 and coming in silver, midnight, honey, or blush colourways.

There's no word yet on when they'll be available outside the US – such as in the UK.

Ring has announced the launch of its first-ever smart lock, offering four unlocking methods and a first-of-its-kind power dial designed to prevent the lock from becoming unusable if the battery dies. It also connects with Ring doorbells, cameras and alarms, whilst supporting voice control through Amazon Echo and Alexa.

Officially called the Ring Smart Lock, it gives users several ways to get inside, including a fingerprint reader, backlit touchscreen keypad, the Ring app or Alexa. The best smart locks on the market tend to offer more options, but it's exciting to see one come from such a well-known and trusted brand as Ring.

It looks like the smart lock will be exclusive to the US for now, with the product expected to arrive in 2027. It'll cost $249 (around £180) and will be available in black, silver and brass.

You will be able to check the status of the Ring Smart Lock and lock/unlock it remotely through the Ring app. You can also decide exactly who gets access, how they get it and when that access expires. For example, Ring says you could give your dog walker access every Tuesday from 2pm to 3pm, without allowing them to unlock the door outside that window.

The Ring Smart Lock also stays connected through Amazon Sidewalk, a shared network powered by nearby Amazon devices. This means remote locking, status updates and PIN syncing can happen automatically without relying solely on your home Wi-Fi.

It's important to note that the Smart Lock has not yet been authorised by the FCC, meaning it can't be sold in the US until that authorisation is obtained. We'll keep you updated if and when that changes, as well as if Ring announces plans to bring the smart lock to other markets.

The Amazon Fire Tablet is dead. It's been one of the biggest-selling tablets in the last 16 years, and is estimated that one in three households already have one. So why kill it?

Well, they haven't, they've just rebranded it. Welcome to the new Amazon Alexa Tablet. This is more than just a name change, though, as the new models are vastly more powerful and have much greater potential for your entertainment needs.

The new Alexa tablets come in three main forms. First there's the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro – the 12-inch flagship device. Then there's the Alexa Tablet 11 and the smaller Alexa Tablet 8, which are 11 inches and 8 inches, respectively.

So what makes these devices different from the previous Fire Tablets? First of all, these now all run a full version of Android 16, giving them access to the complete array of Android apps from the Google Play Store.

Then there's access to an assistant. Amazon says that its Alexa+, the AI-enhanced version of its assistant, is baked into the tablet, rather than just being an app. This means it's not only accessible from any screen, but it can also understand context around what you're working on.

The 12-inch Alexa Tablet Pro 12 has a 3:2 ratio to give you more viewing area than your typical tablet. That display has a 280ppi resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, but perhaps best of all it's a Nanomatte display, created with Corning to give an anti-reflective finish that looks like paper.

Finally, there's the power, which comes from an 8-core performance CPU and an integrated 7-core GPU. This is three times the CPU performance and nine times the GPU performance of previous Fire Tablets. There's 8GB or 16GB of memory and up to 256GB of storage.

It's also compatible with a new Tablet Pro Pen stylus and a magnetically attaching Pro Keyboard. This is a full-sized keyboard with a large trackpad and 1.3mm key travel, giving it a real laptop-like feel.

Alexa Tablet 11 and Alexa Tablet 8 are designed for more casual use, such as streaming, gaming, reading and browsing. Though the 11 still offers an 8-core processor with 8GB RAM.

The smaller Alexa Tablet 8 has an 8.7-inch display and an all-aluminium design, making it highly portable and easy to hold in one hand. A real iPad mini competitor.

If that's not enough, there are also new tablets for kids. The Amazon Kids Tablets come in 8.7-inch and 11-inch sizes (like the Alexa Tablet 8 and 11) but come with kid-proof cases and parental-controlled operating systems. Plus a one-year subscription to Amazon's Kids+ for all the games and apps, video and book content your child will need.

All of the new Alexa Tablets feature Kindle integration, which transforms the device when selected. Once you enter the Kindle model, the blue light filter activates, notifications are silenced and the battery life extends. You can pick from either a muted colour display (like the Colorscribe) or a full e-ink look for the Kindle mode, and you can watch it change before your eyes.

The Kindle mode also allows the annotation tools from Kindle Scribe devices, letting you highlight, underline and add notes to whatever you are reading.

One really nice feature is the page turn animation, which gives you a satisfying curl of the corner as you drag the page across the screen.

All three of these new Alexa Tablets look really impressive, but it's the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro that really stands out. Not just for the power it offers and the options the new Android operating system brings, but also for the matte display and e-reader capabilities.

This feels like a tablet not just competing with Apple's lineup but massively undercutting it. The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro starts from just £449.99 or £499.99 with the Nanomatte screen. That's cheaper than the iPad Air.

Alexa Tablet 11 starts from £289.99 and the Alexa Tablet 8 starts from £199.99. The Pro Pen and Tablet Pro Keyboard can be purchased separately, or as part of a bundle.

Prime Day has almost been and gone quicker than you could turn around, with the deals coming to an end later this evening. However, Amazon has been teasing us all day with new deals supposedly arriving at 5pm, and let's just say it's pulled through.

If you've yet to find yourself a bargain, now's the time to take a look at all the impressive deals that have popped up with just seven hours left until Prime Day ends. You might just find one after all!

With Amazon's October Prime sale in full effect, the deals have come in thick and fast – as it's all over in a matter of hours, at the end of Wednesday 7 October.

I've found plenty of goodies (and bought some items of my own), but I think I've found the best budget laptop deal of the entire sale in Lenovo's mega-discounted Ideapad.

Check out the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 deal on Amazon

While I've already highlighted a must-buy Sonos upgrade for soundbar surround sound and a bunch of decent TV deals, if you're after one of the cheapest of laptops then this Lenovo deal is a veritable bargain.

Lenovo's budget offerings have long been a success in our best budget laptops feature, with this particular model now at a lower price than I've ever seen it before – approaching the half-price marker!

It's also very timely, as mere months ago Apple announced the MacBook Neo. I'm massively impressed with that laptop, of course, which I think is ideal for students – but those wanting a Windows machine for a fraction of the price aren't going to be interested.

That's where this £399 offer comes into play. This is Lenovo's bargain basement asking price, really, and in the RAMageddon crisis of now it's rare to find any decent Windows machine at such an asking price.

As we progress into a Googlebook era, competition and consumer choice changes. But those are brand new and pricier at present – again opening the door for a classic Windows machine such as this Lenovo.

Best get a move on, though, as this Amazon sale is over and done with after 23:59 today (Wednesday 7 October), so your buying window for this Windows machine isn't very long...

Shelly is already known for its incredibly affordable smart home devices, with everything from smart plugs and bulbs to smart home hubs and sensors. So, when I discovered that some of them were even cheaper thanks to Amazon's Prime Day deals, I couldn't help but share them.

Just remember that today is the final day, so if any of these deals catch your eye, now's the time to snap them up. If you want to see what else is discounted, check out our wider smart home deals roundup before you go.

If you have a neutral kitchen and love your appliances to match, you'll probably want to take a look at Ninja's deals in the Amazon Prime Day sale. The retailer has discounted a variety of products, but it seems to have reduced an entire colourway in the process – and that colour is none other than Stone Gold.

Ninja's Stone Gold colourway has been hugely popular since it launched in 2025, with many shoppers preferring it over the classic black or the more recent range of pastel colours. If you're one of those people, I've done the hard work for you and rounded up each and every deal available in that exact shade below. You're welcome!

Ninja is a well known brand when it comes to the best bean-to-cup coffee machines, but as with any brand, knowing which machine is right for you can be tricky. However, we've actually reviewed most of Ninja's offerings, so we're here to help.

As it's the second and final day of Amazon's Big Deal Days, I've put together the top three deals you need to know about, featuring three of the brand's best machines. Make sure to read each of the reviews for more information, and happy shopping!

The internet can be a minefield when you're searching for one of the best LED face masks. There are endless options to choose from, with prices ranging from relatively affordable to eye-wateringly expensive, so that's where I come in as T3's resident LED face mask expert.

With Amazon's Big Deal Days currently underway, I've been through the listings and picked out the deals you actually need to know about.

All of the masks featured here have been approved by various healthcare organisations for use, so you can feel a little more confident about what you're putting on your skin – and, as an added bonus, the prices aren't too bad either.

There are hundreds of different coffee machines out there, but De'Longhi is a brand you can't really go wrong with. It has a great range of the best bean-to-cup machines, and without sounding too obvious, I have to admit it's one of my own favourites.

With Amazon's Big Deal Days kicking off today, I've been through the offers to round up some of the best De'Longhi deals currently available. As I mentioned in my piece on 3 affordable De'Longhi machines I'd buy over an expensive one, you don't have to spend a fortune to get a great brew, and this is a good place to start.

If you've spent any amount of time on social media lately, you'll probably recognise at least a few of these gadgets. They're the kind of products that seem to appear in your feed repeatedly until, somehow, you're convinced you need one too.

That's where Prime Day has really pulled through this year. I've been going through Amazon's Big Deal Days offers and picked out 15 viral gadgets that are now a lot cheaper than before. So, if there's one that's been following you around your feed, now might finally be the time to give in.

Amazon Prime events happen throughout the year, though after the main Prime Day in June, the October event is the one to look out for. It's the precursor to the full Black Friday that every retailer gets involved in, but because of that, it's often surprising.

This two-day sale offers big discounts for a short time, so if you move fast, you can bag great deals. That's not to say everything is worth buying, though.

The challenge is finding those items that are actually deals, among the hoards of products that are merely discounted to earlier prices, or are simply old models now superseded by newer and better offerings.

For that reason, we've put together a simple list of just a few key products that we think are worth a look. So, if you are considering making a purchase, this is the place to start.

The sale runs from midnight on Tuesday, October 6, through 11:59 pm (PST) on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Remember, you do need to be a Prime member to benefit from these discounts, and you must complete your purchase before the deal runs out – otherwise you could be paying full price.

When is the next Amazon Prime Day?

The next Prime Day is right now – well, Prime Big Deal Days, to be precise. The sale starts at midnight on Tuesday October 6, and finishes at 11:59 pm (PST) on Wednesday, October 7. That means you'll be able to get record-low prices across multiple departments, especially on Amazon devices.

The last Amazon Prime Day took place from June 23 to June 26 2026. There will be further Amazon sales for Black Friday.

How to get a free Prime account for Prime Day

You might already know this (the clue's in the title), but you need to be an Amazon Prime member to shop the Prime Day sale.

However, not only do Amazon Prime members get to shop the Prime Day sale, but they also get early access to ALL Lightning Deals and extra offers on Prime benefits, like coupon offers, free Deliveroo Plus and plenty of other benefits. A Prime subscription is definitely something to consider, therefore.

If you're new to Prime, Amazon Prime is available on a 30-day free trial for all new members. If you're a student, there's even better news as Amazon offers a free six-month Amazon Prime trial on Prime Student and after that, it will only cost you £4.49 a month.

To shop the Prime Day sale, our advice would be to sign up for a Prime account a couple of weeks before the sales start so you can shop the sale for free - including any cheeky early offers.

You can cancel your account at any time if you're not happy with it and you'll have got the best deals from the Prime Day sale, free unlimited delivery and you won't have paid a penny for the membership fee. If you decide to keep your Prime account, see our guide on how to save money on Amazon Prime for money-saving hacks.

What were the best Prime Day deals last year?

Prime Day 2025 resulted in some great offers across multiple departments.

The best deals were on a range of tech, kitchen and beauty products. For example, the Samsung S90C TV was on sale with over 40% off, the Apple AirPods Max headphones were at their cheapest yet, and you could get a Philips Hue Starter Kit to begin your smart lighting journey for under £100.

Overall, Amazon devices had the biggest discounts, with Echo speakers, Blink cameras, Kindles and Fire tablets hitting record low prices. Alongside this, Ninja, Sage and Tefal kitchen appliances came with amazing offers, as did Xbox and PS5 controllers.

What brands had the best prices on Prime Day last year?

Plenty of different brands took part in the sales last year, with Sony and Bose being two of the most sought after. Speakers, earbuds and headphones were particularly popular.

Philips, Samsung and Shark all saw big price drops too, and makeup brands like Rimmel saw great sales.

Due to the cost of living crisis, we believe people use these sales to stock up on essentials for around the home - from washing-up liquid to coat hangers, teabags to cat food. Amazon delivers with incredibly low prices on these products, especially on its Vouchers page.

How much is Amazon Prime membership?

Amazon Prime membership costs £8.99 per month or £95 for a year when paid in advance. For students, the cost is £4.49 monthly and the annual subscription is £47.49.

So, if you want Prime to shop the Prime Day sale, we recommend signing up before the event and if you're new, you can shop with a free month's trial. You can then cancel Prime soon after and it won't cost you a penny more.

Will Prime Day be better than Black Friday?

Prime Day is heralded as Amazon's biggest sales event of the year. However, Amazon is also well known for its Black Friday sales. Last year, Amazon started its Black Friday sale early, weeks in advance of the official sales date. Many shoppers got to take advantage of early discounts and themed weeks that Amazon ran in the lead-up to Black Friday.

Having said that, there are a couple of key differences between Prime Day and Black Friday. The most obvious is that Black Friday isn't an Amazon-only sale. Retailers from around the world take part in the annual event and slash their prices during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend. Black Friday is also available for all shoppers and not just Prime members.

As Black Friday is the more famous shopping event, you might find cheaper prices. However, Amazon is a big component of the Black Friday sale and its Prime Day sales have some of the cheapest offers on the day. This isn't to say that Amazon won't have low prices on Black Friday but if you're a regular Amazon shopper or Prime user, you'll find the cheapest offers available during the Prime Day sale.

Prime Member benefits to use on Prime Day

When you sign up to Amazon Prime, you not only get access to Lightning Deals and the Prime Day sale. Prime members also get other benefits like Prime Video, Amazon Music, Prime Gaming, Prime Reading, flexible delivery options, and shopping benefits like savings on prescriptions and groceries. So, if you want to save extra money in the Prime Day sale, here are the best Prime Member benefits you should definitely use this Prime Day.

Check your delivery options

While the main benefit of Prime is flexible deliveries, one delivery option that can help you save money is free no-rush shipping. If you’re not in a hurry for your items or you’re looking to save money, select the no-rush option at checkout and your order will be delivered within 3-5 days. It’s still free and to thank you for your patience, Amazon gives you an automatic discount on your next order.

Use Amazon Vouchers

Every day, new vouchers are added to the Amazon Voucher page which you can collect and use at the checkout for extra money off your orders. Head to the Amazon Voucher page, find the voucher you want to us – for example, a coupon for 30% off wireless earbuds – and click ‘Collect Voucher’. This will take you to a page with details on how to claim and the discount will be applied at checkout.

Try Before You Buy

Amazon Try Before You Buy is where Prime members can pick up to 6 eligible clothing items from the Prime Wardrobe and try them for free. You’ll have a week to try on the clothes or shoes to make sure they fit, and after the 7-day try-on period, you pay for what you want to keep and send back the stuff you don’t.

Subscribe & Save

If you buy repeat purchases on Amazon every week or month, use Subscribe & Save. This accumulates all your frequent purchases together like toiletries, cleaning products and beauty essentials, which makes checking out easier and offers up to 15% off the original price when you schedule repeat deliveries.

What kind of sales has Amazon run in the past?

Looking at last year's Amazon sales is a good indication of what to expect the next time they come around, including Prime Day, Black Friday and Prime Day 2 (Prime Big Deal Days). Amazon constantly has deals available site-wide on a range of products in its 'Today's Deals' section.

At T3, we like to consider ourselves experts on big sales events so by looking at the patterns from Amazon's 2025 sales, we've come up with a few predictions for what we expect to see in 2026.

Like most retailers, Amazon sticks to seasonal holidays, so during spring it offers a wide range of products, including laptops, air fryers, headphones and lawnmowers. As Prime Day traditionally happens in July, there are deals on absolutely everything, but especially on Amazon devices, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners and premium beauty.

Amazon also typically runs themed weeks throughout the year, and specifically in the run-up to its Black Friday event. In the past, there have been Gardening Week and Fragrance Week events. All of this gives us a strong indication that these deals could make a comeback during 2026.

Yep, you've read that right. As Senior Homes Writer at T3, it's my job to test the best (and worst) robot vacuum cleaners on the market today, which means I have a pretty strong idea of which models are actually worth it when sales such as Amazon's Big Deal Days roll around.

When I say tested, that can mean anything from putting a robot vacuum through a proper review to getting hands-on with one at events such as IFA. Either way, I've seen plenty of these machines up close, so I have a good feel for which brands and models are worth your attention.

As a result, I've picked out the robot vacuums I'd personally recommend buying this Prime Day, and you'll find each of them below.

Braun's brand new Nevo electric shaver has just had a huge £385 price cut in Amazon's Big Deal Days sale, taking it down to £344.99 from £729.99.

Not only is that an incredibly good price for such a new product, but we've also recently reviewed the Nevo, awarding it four stars in our full review. Leon Poultney, who tested the shaver, said that aside from its bulky travel case and outdated two-pin design, the main thing that let it down was the price.

So, you can imagine what he might have thought if it had launched at £344.99 instead.

One of the Nevo's biggest features is its ability to adapt in real time to your beard's density, with its 250 diamond-sharp blades designed to provide a close shave across different hair densities. It also comes with a 7-in-1 system that automatically cleans, cares for and charges the shaver, which Braun says is 10x better than water whilst also helping to optimise blade performance and lifespan.

I don't know about you, but if you're looking for a new electric shaver, this feels like one of the best deals out there right now.

Amazon's Prime Day event is now officially underway, which means there are hundreds of discounts to sift through, including some tempting offers on smart home tech.

So, to save you the hassle of making your way through them all, I've rounded up some of the best smart home deals available right now, covering a mix of brands and products at different price points.

Enjoy!

When is the next Amazon Prime Day?

The next Prime Day is right now – well, Prime Big Deal Days, to be precise. The sale will start at midnight on Tuesday 6 October and finish at 11:59 pm on Wednesday 7 October. That means you'll be able to get record-low prices across multiple departments, especially on Amazon devices.

The last Amazon Prime Day took place from 23 June to 26 June 2026.

For those who don't already know, Amazon's Big Deal Days returns tomorrow, which means a huge number of deals have already started appearing. Among them is the Shark BreatheClear with NeverChange6 technology, which I recently awarded four stars in my full review.

It's now reduced to just £129.99 from £199.99, with all three colours discounted. That's a pretty good saving, especially if you like the idea of not having to change the filter for at least six years.

However, whilst testing it, I couldn't help but compare it with the IKEA Uppåtvind Air purifier, which costs just £29 from IKEA's website and in-store. Available in a similar range of pastel colours to the Shark, the Uppåtvind works in much the same way, filtering indoor air to remove harmful particles and pollen.

Yes, it doesn't have the same reactive display, motion detection or light sensors, but it quietly gets on with purifying the air in the background without you having to do much. The only real input needed is checking the filter, with an LED light letting you know when it's time to take a look and potentially replace it.

It's also impressively quiet, making it particularly well suited to bedrooms. I found the Shark NeverChange6 quite loud when it was working hard to improve the air quality, so the Uppåtvind's 55dB maximum fan speed compared with the Shark's 65dB is pretty impressive.

Ultimately, it's up to you, but if you'd rather spend less and get straightforward air purification without having to do much at all, the IKEA Uppåtvind is the one I'd pick.

We fully expected new Amazon Kindles to be announced soon, after a leak revealed some new colour options, but little did we know that the retailer would be refreshing its entire range.

There are new Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft models, with aluminium casing options for each, plus new Kindle Kids versions, too.

And Amazon has even introduced a selection of new accessories, including Kindle Click – a Bluetooth page turner that's compatible with all of the brand's e-readers made from 2024-on.

The new Kindle has a 6-inch E Ink display and comes with 16GB of storage. It also sports up to six weeks of battery life and, what Amazon claims, is 30% faster book opening times than previous models.

You can get it for £134.99 / $149.99 in Ube and Graphite colourways, although an aluminium version is also available for the first time. This is priced at £169.99 / $189.99, comes in two colours – Sky Aluminium or Seaglass Green – and ups the storage to 32GB.

There's also an aluminium variant of the new Kindle Paperwhite. The standard edition starts at £184.99 / $199.99 for the 16GB model and is said to be thinner and lighter than before. It's also waterproof, has an adjustable warm light for bedtime reading, and also boasts up to 12 weeks of battery life,

The aluminium Signature Edition is available for £229.99 / $249.99 in Graphite or Seaglass Green colours. You get double the storage for that too, as well as an auto-adjusting front light and dock charging via pogo pins.

A new Kindle Colorsoft also comes in two models – standard and Signature Edition. Again, the biggest difference between the two is an aluminium build on the latter.

The 16GB standard Colorsoft is available in Graphite only, starting at £259.99 / $289.99. The Signature Edition is £289.99 / $319.99, which also pays for 32GB of storage, an auto-adjusting front light, and dock charging capabilities.

There are Kindle Kids versions of all three models, which feature kid-friendly covers and 12-months of Amazon Kids+ thrown in.

They starts at £159.99 for the standard version.

We only brought you news on the all-new Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K yesterday and it's available with a massive discount already.

The new model replaces the 4K Select and 4K Plus variants in Amazon's lineup and promises to be faster in operation than ever before. It also comes with the new Fire TV Remote, which has been redesigned to be easier to hit buttons even when not looking directly at it.

There are launch deals available in both the UK and US, with up to 53% off the new streaming device.

The offer is available for a "limited time period", which Amazon US reveals to be until the end of the Prime Big Deal Days sale on 6 and 7 October.

The all-new Fire TV Stick 4K switches from the old Android-based operating system to Amazon's new Vega OS. This means you won't be able to sideload apps that aren't available through the built-in app store, but it can operated much more quickly than previous Sticks.

That's because all of the experience is cloud based, with apps stored on Amazon's servers rather than the device itself. For all intents and purposes, the streamer works exactly the same as you'd expect, but because it doesn't rely on its own on-board processing, loading times are much quicker – up to 40% quicker, in fact.

All of the same streaming services are available, including Prime Video (of course), Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Apple TV and Paramount+. There are plenty of games and other apps to be found too.

The new model comes with an all-new Fire TV Remote, which works similarly to previous versions but has been redesigned to be more comfortable to use. There is also a customisable button, which was only available on the higher-end remotes before.

Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days sale runs for 48-hours from 6 October 2026. There are plenty of other Fire TV deals available too.

Prime Video is locked in one of the great broadcasting battles with Netflix, even if "broadcasting" is objectively not the right word for how either service works. They're the giants of this streaming age, and in the race to not just attract the most subscribers, but also to keep them for more than just a single month at a time, they both know the brief.

Amazon has to keep pumping content into its catalogue, or people will get bored, and that means original shows and movies, as well as older material. If you're wondering what it's got planned this month, I've got good news – I've done the hard work for you. I went trawling through everything being added to Prime Video this month. I've picked out the highlights you'll want to pay attention to, so here are the five biggest new arrivals.

Carrie

• Streaming from: 7 October

Amazon's ownership of MGM gives it access to a whole heap of the biggest and most iconic franchises of all time – including one of the best horror movies ever made, Carrie. It had a fairly terrible remake back in 2013, but that's long enough ago that a new series could well fare much better without any blowback.

It takes Stephen King's creepy novel and takes a slower approach to it, with more time to luxuriate in the painful nature of high school integration for our guileless heroine Carrie. She's in for a terrible time, with horror master Mike Flanagan updating the material to account for our age of social media. It all promises a cathartic climax that's even more violent and explosive than the original.

The Terminal List (Season 2)

• Streaming from: 21 October

Chris Pratt's big-budget series for Prime Video looked like it might have been something of a bust, but now it's been revived years after its first season, having had a spin-off more recently. Pratt's back as a damaged ex-military man who's had to go into the deepest sort of hiding to avoid scrutiny because of what he did last time out.

As often happens, though, the US government isn't done with him. It looks like he'll have to come out of hiding and retirement to help track down another former colleague who might have gone rogue. That trail will take him all around the world, from the looks of it, making this a great fit if you fancy a globe-trotting tactical adventure.

Love of Your Life

• Streaming from: 14 October

Another one to watch if you want some of the feeling of journeying around Europe and finding love, Love of Your Life stars the fairly magnetic Margaret Qualley as a young woman in the grieving phase for a relationship that she thought would go the distance. She's almost unwilling to allow for the idea that she might find another lover, frankly.

That's the sort of position that's always going to come under strain when Aaron Pierre looks your way, of course. So, it seems like a whirlwind romance will ensue, haunted by the question of whether you can get over a heartbreak and open yourself to the possibility of another one, if the other outcome is lasting love. Beautiful stuff!

Last One Laughing: Halloween

• Streaming from: 23 October

Last One Laughing has been something of a sensation over the last couple of years. Prime Video launched the show without a huge amount of fanfare, but it's already spawned spinoffs and local versions, since it really only requires a team of comedians to be locked in a house and let loose.

The central idea (whoever lasts the longest without laughing wins) is a brilliant one, and this time around we're getting the show's first seasonal special. It sees the cast dolled up in Halloween costumes, and presumably they might keep their gags a little spooky in flavour. We can't wait for this one.

Masterplan

• Streaming from: 16 October

My final pick for the month is clearly the silliest of the lot, but that's a good thing sometimes. Masterplan seems to have roped in Stanley Tucci largely with the promise that he'd get to both wear a ridiculous little moustache and be allowed to chew the scenery. He plays a master thief who reconnects with his two adult children to convince them to help him steal the Mona Lisa.

That's right: it's a Louvre heist movie, with the real-world version still fairly fresh in people's minds. Whether it can match the drama of the genuine article is hard to know, but it looks like Masterplan won't take itself remotely seriously, which is probably smart. It arrives midway through the month and should be a nice chill way to spend an evening.

Amazon has announced a new version of its Fire TV Stick 4K, simplifying its streaming device range in the process.

The new model replaces the existing Fire TV Stick 4K Select and Fire TV Stick 4K Plus streamers (which can be found on sale while stocks last), in order to simplify the offering. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max remains, however.

The new Fire TV Stick 4K runs on Vega OS – Amazon's own operating system that uses the cloud to stream the experience, not just individual apps. This controversially means that you can't sideload apps onto the device while streaming services, such as Netflix and Disney+ aren't installed locally. The upside though is that the new device is much quicker than predecessors – by up to 40%.

Apps also load more quickly (as they are doing so on remote servers rather than the device itself). Amazon claims they can start up 35% more quickly.

Another upgrade is that the new Stick can be powered directly from a USB port on your TV, so you don't have to worry about connecting it to a separate power supply. It also comes with Alexa+ support from the box.

A new Amazon Fire TV Remote

Amazon has also launched the new model with its latest Fire TV Remote included. This new version has been redesigned with more tactile controls, to make it easier to use without having to look for the buttons.

It also has the same customisable star button that usually comes on the higher-end remote Amazon sells. This can be set to open a favourite app, for example, or to change settings.

The all-new Fire TV Stick 4K will be available from today for £69.99 in the UK / $59.99 in the US. There will be deal on Amazon UK for a limited time, pricing it at just £32.99.

The new Fire TV Remote will soon be available to pre-order separately at £13.99.

Amazon's big Prime Day event is here, taking place all of today. However, if you've been waiting to pick up some new gadgets, it's worth knowing that Amazon has discounted a number of its own products.

That includes popular brands and devices such as Ring, Blink, Echo and Fire TV, with some of the current deals already offering impressive savings.

We don't know whether these prices will get this low again, but for now, here are some of the best Amazon deals we've spotted for you to browse.

There are certain names that immediately spring to mind when you think of the best air fryers, with Ninja, Tefal and Cuisinart being just a few of them. However, it was actually Philips that introduced the first air fryer back in 2010, and it still has plenty of models worth considering today.

One in particular that I think deserves more attention is the Philips Air Fryer 3000 Series 7.2L. It can sometimes be overshadowed by newer models such as the 4000 Series Stacked Dual Basket and 5000 Series Megabasket, but I think it’s a great choice, especially if you’re looking for something that’s compact without sacrificing features.

Better still, it’s currently 32% off on Amazon, bringing the price down to just £109.

There are presets for air frying, baking, grilling and more, whilst Philips’ Rapid Air technology circulates hot air evenly around the basket to help deliver golden, crispy results.

It also has one feature that you don’t always see on air fryers – a viewing window. That means you can keep an eye on your food as it cooks without constantly having to pull out the basket, which helps produce better results.

So, if you’re after a capable air fryer that won’t take up too much space, I’d definitely take a closer look at this one whilst it’s down to this price point.

The Terminal List wasn't a show that I thought we'd ever get to see more of. After its first season ended back in 2022, we got a whole heap of silence from Amazon about whether there was to be more of the Chris Pratt-fronted spy-style action thriller. It kept quiet about the main show even while dropping a spinoff, Dark Wolf, last year.

2026 has finally ended that silence, though, with Amazon taking the wraps off a new outing for James Reece, the brooding character played by Chris Pratt in both of those previous seasons, and it looks like it's going right back to the same sort of material as last time. After a teaser a few weeks ago, we now have a proper trailer, and it's pretty eye-opening.

It opens with Reece very much in hiding, having gone to ground so deeply that he basically looks like a different person. Pratt has one of the best beards I've seen in a decent while for these scenes, but it looks like it won't last long. He'll get himself slightly closer to civilisation by taking what looks like a job on a safari preserve, but even that won't last long.

It's there that he'll be approached by the US military once again, this time dangling the promise of a full pardon for the fairly significant sins of his past. They need him to get into the field as a new threat rises with civilians very much in the firing line, and it's clear that the season will take Reece all over the world on missions that tend to end explosively.

It also looks like Tom Hopper will have a bigger role this time around as one of Reece's old colleagues (to put in blandly), and the trailer makes it pretty clear that the two are unlikely to see eye to eye. If you like Tom Clancy-style tactical action, there's obviously going to be more than enough of that to go around.

The season starts on 21 October, so there's almost exactly a month to go until it drops on Prime Video. That's more than enough time to catch up on what's already out there, if you're curious about some action-packed TV.

Amazon will fix a bug in a recent Fire TV update for that blocked users from installing third-party apps. Acknowledging the problem, Amazon confirmed that it an update will correct affected devices in the coming week.

When the update originally went out in August, some found that granting permission to install unknown apps didn't work. That blocked third-party installs - or sideloading - one of the popular features of Fire TV's Android devices.

The "bug" drew attention, because Amazon has been attempting to crack-down on sideloading for some time to deal with piracy problems involving its Fire TV Sticks.

In a statement to AFTVNews, the company said: "There was a bug in a recent Fire TV Settings update that caused the “Install unknown apps” list to appear incomplete or empty on some Fire TV devices."

"We have identified the cause and a fix will roll out in an upcoming Fire TV Settings update, installed automatically on affected devices over the coming week."

The irony won't go unnoticed by those following the story of "dodgy" Fire TV Sticks, with Amazon moving to the Linux-based Vega OS for its recent devices, rather than a version of Android.

The problem with Android is that it's too easy to add extra apps - including those that bypass subscriptions or grant access to free movies. With Vega OS on more recent devices that's no longer possible, but many older Fire TV devices still run on Android.

One of the attractions of Android is that it's easy to customise the experience by sideloading apps that might not be natively offered. While some will see that as a route to accessing content they're not paying for, for others it's just a nice way to get access to the apps and services that you want.

The move to Vega OS removes that flexibility, but deals with the problem of "dodgy" hacked Fire TV Sticks which Amazon needed to address to avoid being seen as facilitating the problem.

Amazon says that Vega OS is leaner and faster, and most users won't notice that there's any difference in the experience that's offered with the change of platform - all the major apps and services work exactly as they did before.

In this case, however, it seems that it was a genuine bug and it will be corrected via a software update for those with older hardware still on Android.

A big week beckons in the world of streaming, if you're keeping up with things, and I've been through the (long, long) lists of releases coming this week to see what you should know about this time around. Normally, these round-ups tend to skew in Netflix's favour, since it has a more fulsome release schedule than Prime Video, but this week's an exception.

Amazon's queued up a couple of big new additions for people to sink into, but Netflix is certainly keeping things fresh on its own front too. So, if you want some ideas about what new arrivals could fill your evenings with action, romance or more this week, keep reading. You'll find a trio of highlights along with their trailers and release dates for clarity.

Crew Girl

• Streaming on: Netflix from 10 September

Crew Girl has all the ingredients to be a smash for Netflix, largely because it's continuing what might just be the most popular genre in the world right now – steamy romances set around sports teams. This time, rather than ice hockey or some other wintery sport, though, it's a rowing team that's stepping into the spotlight.

Our main character will become the female cox to an all-male team when she joins a new school without a women's rowing programme, and that is a pretty obvious setup for romantic complications. It wouldn't be much of a drama without a love triangle, and one looks like it'll spring up almost immediately after she joins.

In The Grey

• Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video from 9 September

Guy Ritchie seems to find time to make multiple films a year, and that's before you consider his renewed commitment to TV and streaming series. This movie looks like a characteristically fun one, and reunites him with Henry Cavill after The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare a couple of years ago. Where that was wartime action, this is a modern spy thriller.

Cavill's part of a team (along with Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza Gonzalez) who specialise in helping people recover what's been stolen from them, whether it's in a kidnapping or a robbery. This time they're chasing down literal billions, and that means the stakes will be super high. It's still a Ritchie flick, though, so expect repartee throughout.

Drawn Together

• Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video from 9 September

If you want your dose of steamy romance this week but don't have a Netflix subscription or don't fancy rowing-themed fun, then this Spanish-language option on Prime Video looks enticing. It's a classic bodyguard setup, where a rich young woman is forced to accept a new guard when she's kidnapped and then mysteriously released.

The trailer makes it obvious that sparks will fly between them almost immediately, especially since they have to live together in really close proximity. Don't be too shocked when they fall for each other, or when plot twists make any potential relationship fraught with risk. Prime Video has a great track record for romances in languages other than English, so this could be the start of another big franchise if it finds an audience.

September is one of those months that sometimes feels like the start of autumn, but in other years can very much just be a dose of late summer vibes. Who knows which it'll be for you this year, but you're guaranteed one thing, at least – a significant set of additions to Prime Video if you're a subscriber.

Amazon knows that it can't rest on its laurels where new content is concerned, since the only way it'll keep the subscriber numbers it needs is if it can keep adding new stuff on a regular basis. To that end, it's got an impressive month in the planning, with new series and movies on the way. I've gathered five that you should know about, with trailers and release dates for your convenience.

Neagley Season 1

• Streaming from: 16 September

You know a show's done exceptionally well for its creators when it gets a spinoff, and that's what Neagley is to Reacher, the uber-popular Prime Video show based on Lee Child's long-running series of mystery novels. This series will focus on Reacher's old colleague and sometime ally Frances Neagley (Maria Sten).

She's always been a cold and calculated operator, and part of what's so fun about her character is that it's heavily implied that she gets up to plenty of mischief in Reacher's absences between their interchanges. So, this time around we'll get to watch as she gets entangled with some proper wrong'uns before inevitably sorting them out (violently).

The Runner

• Streaming from: 2 September

Gal Gadot stars in a London-set movie that looks heavily inspired by films like Run Lola Run and others, as a mother who's about to participate in a huge legal case but finds her life turned upside down by a conspiracy surrounding it. On her morning run the day of a big moment in the trial, her son's kidnapped.

She's forced to follow instructions to avoid harm to her child, and that takes her down some dark paths. It looks like this will be a textbook fast-paced thriller that will only ramp up the action as it goes on. Whether Gadot can finally score a hit after a string of iffy streaming releases will be very interesting to observe right at the start of the month.

The Grand Tour

• Streaming from: 4 September

A show that's gone through a few different iterations for Prime Video gets its most radical transformation yet with an all-new crew helming it, including the really interesting swing that is Francis Bourgeois, who became so famous for his viral trainspotting antics. He's also a proper motorhead, though, so will hopefully undercut the blokishness of everything.

He's going to be joined by James Engelsman and Thomas Holland, creators of YouTube's Throttle House, and the key will be whether they have chemistry as a trio. If so, then the motoring antics of this season could secure a long future for the show as a globetrotting showcase of all the makes cars great.

The Love Hypothesis

• Streaming from: 23 September

This charming romance has a really classic hook at its centre – what if two colleagues pretended to be in a relationship for reasons of their own, but started to fall for each other as they spent more time together? It's really quite a clever idea to kick things off, but it too will thrive or shrivel depending on the on-screen chemistry.

The film will star Lili Reinhart as Olive Smith opposite Tom Bateman as Adam Carlsen, her boss in the lab she's studying in. That makes even their fake romance a little dramatic, but that's nothing compared to the drama they'll cook up once they start to catch feelings. This looks like a great cozy September watch.

Drawn Together

• Streaming from: 9 September

If you want your romance to be just that little bit steamier, then perhaps this is the one for you, earlier in September. A Spanish-language movie, its main character Marfil Cortés is born into a life of privilege. That's shattered when she's kidnapped then released mysteriously, which ends up with her needing a bodyguard.

What do you know, though, he's a beauty himself and there's immediate sexual tension between them. It's another fairly textbook setup for romance, but there might be some major twists in the plotting eventually, if Drawn Together has anything like the inventiveness you'd hope for.

I say this every week, but it never stops being true – there's no such thing as a slow week in the world of Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, two titans of the streaming world. Each platforms knows it needs constant additions to hold people's interest, let alone their hard-earned subscription cash.

That means that nary a week goes by without them both adding something pretty interesting to their respective libraries. This is a great example, too, with Netflix adding one of its biggest new series of the year, and Prime Video serving up some properly steamy romance – two shows that are sure to be hits. Check them out, with one surprise extra, below, along with trailers and release dates.

The Whisper Man

• Streaming on: Netflix from Friday 28 August

This dark thriller, based on a best-selling novel, has a pretty stacked central cast, in the form of Adam Scott, Robert De Niro and Michelle Monaghan. It looks impressively twisty and unpredictable, too, with a plot that revolves around the question of what would happen if a notorious serial killer, imprisoned for life, somehow got out and started out for revenge.

The show theorises that he'd probably go after the family of the cop who put him in prison – and in this case that means taking on his son, since De Niro plays the older retired cop, and Adam Scott is his estranged adult child. Watch the trailer and you'll get a pretty quick sense of how the movie's going to feel to watch, which is to say, grimy and scary.

The Last Sunrise

• Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video from Wednesday 26 August

If you want something a little more encouraging to pick you up midweek, then Amazon's got a romance that could do the trick. The Last Sunrise is also a movie, so it's a one-off binge to fill an evening, and stars Maia Reficco as Ry, a young American who relocates to Spain with her mother in the hope that it could help her chronic illness.

She discovers a coastal wonderland that promises a whole heap, along with a specific boy who she can't help but be magnetised towards. Their relationship will start out testily thanks to her outsider status, but it clearly won't take long for them to fall for each other, even despite some complications.

All the Truth in My Lies

• Streaming on: Netflix from Friday 28 August

This one won't capture the same number of eyes and headlines as the other two on my list for the week, but it still looks like a pretty charming addition to Netflix's library. It's a five-episode miniseries in Spanish, portraying the chaotic hen party of a bride with her friendship group. What's meant to be a campervan trip in a small group soon balloons past that.

As new additions join the party and love triangles start to take centre stage, this looks like a fun exploration of how relationships and friendships change as we age. I think it's a safe bet that it'll end in a heartwarming way, even if there's some emotional strife on the way to that conclusion.

Amazon and Roku could be preparing to launch updated streaming devices after new remotes were spotted at the FCC in the US.

We don't have specific details about what these new streamers might be at the moment, because it's the remote controls that have given them away. In this case, thanks to the filings, we see a new Amazon remote and four new Roku remotes.

The details, uncovered by Lowpass, point to the future launch of new streaming devices, likely coming in the next couple of months, but currently there are few clues as to what either company plans.

The listings at the FCC (here and here) don't have any photos and lack complete details, but give us enough to make some discoveries.

What could Amazon and Roku launch?

First, the Amazon remote is likely for a Fire TV device and appears to be the same size as the existing Alexa Voice remote. However, it appears that this is a Bluetooth Low Energy remote only, suggesting no IR support for older devices.

Little else can be determined about the remote at this time, but Amazon has many controllers across its devices, offering varying features – some have numbers, some include external device controls, and some are more basic.

With Amazon updating the Fire TV Stick line recently, the oldest models are the flagship Fire TV Stick 4K Max and the Fire TV Cube. Other devices have been recently replaced, moving over to Vega OS, its Linux-based software that's designed to reduce piracy amongst other things.

But, we also know that Amazon is aiming to shift from buying its processors from the likes of MediaTek and Amlogic, to using its own silicon. The timeline for that shift was predicted to be around 2027, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, which might fit with the next launch that Amazon makes.

Amazon traditionally hosts a fall hardware event around September or October each year – and the registration of this remote could point to that.

The second set of remotes are for Roku. Again, we have very little information about the devices these will control, but in this case there are four remotes. They include one that's specified as not having Roku's signature cloth tag.

That suggests that it's going to control hardware that's launched in partnership with another brand – perhaps a retailer like Walmart with its Onn devices.

Other details highlight buzzers to help find the lost remote, while they all use replaceable batteries rather than an internal rechargeable battery, like the Voice Remote Pro. That might indicate that these are regular bundled remotes for updated devices.

While we can't discern too much from these filings, it points to new streaming devices coming from both Amazon and Roku soon. And with Apple also tipped to launch a new Apple TV 4K, it looks like we'll have plenty of choice in the coming weeks and months.

As a smart home expert, I’m often asked what device you actually need to protect and monitor your home. Every time without fail, I always recommend a video doorbell for both smart security beginners and experts.

I’ve had my video doorbell for a few years now, and it’s still the most invaluable piece of technology I have for my home. Having it installed means I never miss packages, I can talk to visitors and I can quickly check up on my home while I’m away.

There are lots of video doorbell brands on the market, but if you’re looking for an affordable, wireless option, the Arlo 2K Video Doorbell is currently on sale at Amazon for its lowest ever price.

Shop the Arlo 2K Video Doorbell deal

Originally priced at £139.99, the Arlo 2K Video Doorbell is now just £75.99, saving you 46% on this premium video doorbell. I’ve done some price checking, and this is the cheapest the Arlo 2K Video Doorbell has been since 2025.

In our Arlo 2K Wireless Video Doorbell review, we gave it four stars and commented that “there's a lot to like about the Arlo 2K Wireless Video Doorbell: it comes with the key features you're going to need, the video footage and the two-way audio is crisp and clear, and getting around the app is very straightforward.”

This Arlo 2K Video Doorbell deal doesn’t include a chime. However, if you want one, Amazon has also got a great bundle deal where you can get the Arlo 2K HDR Video Doorbell and Ring Chime for just £92.99.

If you've heard someone saying the unbearably hot temperatures are coming back tomorrow, unfortunately they're not exaggerating. Whilst we're sitting in the high 20s today, Wednesday and Thursday are expected to see temperatures climb as high as 35°C, bringing conditions similar to the two heatwaves we've already experienced this summer. The only good news is that cooler weather should return before the weekend, so thankfully it won't last too long.

That also means you've really only got today to prepare if you still need to invest in one of the best fans, and If that's you, I've found one you should consider. The JSH 33-inch Portable Pedestal Stand Fan is currently labelled as Amazon's Choice and has an average rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars.

It's also available with Amazon Prime next-day delivery, meaning you can still get one through your door tomorrow before another potentially sleepless night in the heat.

The JSH 33-inch Portable Pedestal Stand Fan is an air circulator, meaning it's designed to move air around the entire room rather than simply blowing it in one direction. By improving circulation, it can help distribute cooler air into different corners of the room and create a more consistent temperature throughout the space.

It also features 90° automatic oscillation alongside up to 90° of manual directional adjustment, whilst the spiral grille is designed to maximise airflow distribution around the room. This gives you plenty of flexibility whether you want the breeze directed straight towards you or circulated across a wider space.

There are three fan speeds to choose from, alongside oscillation and timer controls, and you can adjust everything using the touchscreen display on the fan itself or via the included remote control.

The pace of the streaming world is sometimes something to behold. While the rest of us hunker down for yet another heatwave here in the UK, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video presumably sniff another opportunity to own our eyes and attention spans. If you're wondering what that means for you, the answer is more movies and shows coming to the best streaming platforms.

I've gone through the whole list of what's coming to both Netflix and Prime Video this week (and it's a long list), to pick out three total highlights for you. These new arrivals are the ones I think you'll want to know about, and all of them might make for a lovely bit of mid-week watching in the August heat.

Reacher Season 4

• Streaming on: Prime Video from 12 August

While it might not be the single biggest one in terms of budget or numbers, I do think that Reacher might nonetheless be Amazon's best original show ever. That's because it's incredibly true to the source material that it's adapting, giving us an on-screen version of Jack Reacher who really feels like a proper fit (as opposed to Tom Cruise, about a foot too short).

This time around he's going to find himself embroiled in quite a conspiracy, all kicked off when he tries to be a good samaritan after spotting a woman in distress on the subway. When she dies dramatically, he's unable to let sleeping dogs lie, and starts digging into the circumstances she found herself in. You won't believe this, but it won't take long until he's beating people up – hallelujah!

My Brilliant Career

• Streaming on: Netflix from 13 August

This looks like a really spirited new show for Netflix, adapting a beloved Autralian novel that might not be quite as well-known on other shores. It tells the story of Sybylla, a young woman in search of a direction for her life, at a time when the standard solution would be to simply get married. She decides instead to pursue her gift for writing, and to see the world.

Little does she know, though, that her attempts to get out and about will put her in the path of more than one suitor, meaning we're going to get plenty of steamy romance from My Brilliant Career despite Sybylla's apparent feminism. That's a great setup, and the costuming and performances seem top-notch. Could this be a new Bridgerton-level hit?

Don't Say Good Luck

• Streaming on: Netflix from 14 August

For a more traditional coming-of-age story, this movie starring Adam Sandler's daughter Sunny seems like it's going to be heartwarming and potentially tearjerking in equal measure. Sandler plays Sophie Birenbaum, who is desperate to make it in her high school's musical for the year, with all the social benefits it would bring.

That aim seems to become a little more modest when her home life starts to deteriorate thanks to her mother getting sick – throwing her own desires into perspective. It's a classic recipe for some life lessons, and the movie seems to be nice and sympathetic to how teenagers can be battered by these emotional situations. It looks charming, and comes out at the end of the week.

In the modern world of movies there are myriad ways to promote a new release, and we're all now pretty used to the hype cycle of release date reveals followed by teaser trailers followed by longer full trailers. Prime Video has taken a slightly different approach for one of its biggest upcoming movies, though.

It just confirmed a streaming date later this year for Madden, its biopic of one of American football's biggest icons, and did it in a way I can't remember seeing before. The video features the film's star, Nicolas Cage, talking a bit about the project and what it means to him, before confirming that all-important date.

So, thanks to Nic we now know that the film will debut on Prime Video on 18 November this year, making it a few months away right now. What's surprising to me, though, is that the video really is something of a hybrid, since we also get some meaningful glimpses of scenes from the final film.

As Cage talks, we get to see him in character in a few different phases of Madden's career, most easily told apart thanks to the different fashion and amounts of weight borne on his face. We also get to see Christian Bale as Al Davis, Madden's long-time coaching partner and friend.

Perhaps the key thing to know about Madden, other than Cage's starring role, is that it's directed by David O. Russell, best known for Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, so this is a production with some real pedigree attached. Russell's also well-known for a reportedly abrasive directing style, having alienated some previous stars, but there are no rumours of a rift with Cage at this point.

In fact, Nic seems thrilled by the movie, and invested in its subject matter, which might make it slightly interesting that Amazon's going with a streaming-first release (or seems to be at this point). With this level of directing and acting talent in the film, it'l be curious to see whether it's a reflection of its final quality that it isn't being given a wider release.

If you're looking for one of the best robot vacuums, a five-star review is a good place to start. We don't hand out our top rating lightly, with only a select handful of models earning full marks in our testing over the past few months. In fact, if there's one thing our reviews have highlighted, it's just how consistently two brands – Roborock and Dreame – continue to raise the bar.

The good news is that several of these five-star favourites are currently reduced on Amazon. So, if you've been waiting for the right time to invest in a premium robot vacuum, now could be your chance to pick up one of our highest-rated models for less.

Looking for a shaving upgrade? You’re in luck as there are tons of Philips shaver deals at Amazon right now, including this half price deal on the Philips Electric Shaver 3000 Series.

Shop the Philips Electric Shaver 3000 Series deal

Despite not actually being able to grow facial hair, I’m somewhat of a beauty and grooming expert, having covered the best electric shavers for years. Philips makes some of the best shavers and trimmers on the market, and the Philips Electric Shaver 3000 Series is no exception.

Originally priced at £139.99, the Philips Electric Shaver 3000 Series is now just £59.87, saving you 57% on this premium shaving tool. I’ve done some price checking, and the last time the Philips Electric Shaver 3000 Series was this cheap was back in 2023, so now is definitely the time to snap up this offer.

As an entry-level shaver, the Philips Electric Shaver 3000 Series is a great option for those new to electric shavers, or who want a simple yet effective shave. Designed for both wet and dry use, the Philips Electric Shaver 3000 Series has a five-direction pivot head that expertly and carefully trims your facial hair while following the unique shape of your face.

The Philips Electric Shaver 3000 Series is best suited for a clean shave as the blades and head get very close to the skin. In fact, it has 27 self-sharpening PowerCut blades that cut right above skin level, offering a close shave that’s smooth and comfortable.

In terms of battery life, the Philips Electric Shaver 3000 Series takes an hour to charge for up to an hour of shaving. It’s easy to travel with for shaving on-the-go, and it even has an ergonomic handle so it’s comfortable to hold and maneuver.

If you want my advice on a good entry-level and budget-friendly electric shaver, this Philips Electric Shaver 3000 Series deal is the one I’d choose.

The Dyson Supersonic Travel has appeared among Amazon's deals page after launching back in April. It's part of the retailer's limited-time deals, with 15% off taking the price down to just under £212.

We gave the Supersonic Travel an impressive five stars in our review, and I was particularly impressed by its compact design, universal voltage and compatibility with existing Supersonic attachments.

So, if you spotted it when it first launched but weren't quite ready to take the plunge, you can now pick it up for even less.

This is the first time the Supersonic Travel has been discounted on Amazon, and it's currently not reduced anywhere else, making this a particularly good time to buy.

At the time of writing, just 7% of the available deal stock has been claimed, so I reckon this offer will stick around for a little while longer. However, once the stock allocated to the deal is gone, it's gone – so it's worth grabbing one whilst you still can.

Amazon has followed Netflix by adding games to its Prime Video service, but it's raced ahead in quality and quantity. That's because the new "Games" tab on the Prime Video app gives you direct access to its ever-growing library of Luna games.

That means you will be able to play the likes of the multiple award-winning Dispatch, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, EA Sports FC 26, and the Harry Potterverse RPG Hogwart's Legacy for free, straight from Prime Video itself.

Luna is Amazon's cloud gaming service, which gives all Amazon Prime members access to a catalogue of console and PC quality games to stream over the internet. The game is run on remote hardware with the video feed streamed to your TV, while the controller codes are sent in the opposite direction.

There's a small amount of lag (latency) in comparison with playing directly on a PS5, for example, but everything is still very playable. All you need is a Bluetooth controller connected wirelessly and away you go.

Some of the games can even be played using a mobile phone or tablet as the controller, including an expanding selection of party games for family and friends to enjoy together.

That includes the new season of Courtroom Chaos, with Arnold Schwazenegger as the judge.

Other games available on the platform include some of Amazon's own properties, such as the most recent Tomb Raider trilogy. Fallout 4 is also available, to complement the TV series on Prime Video.

The Games tab is now available on Fire TV models in the UK and US, with a wider rollout coming "in the months ahead".

Hopefully that will include Prime Video apps on TVs and streaming devices from other manufacturers. As things stand, you can play Luna games through a browser on most devices by heading to the dedicated website.

Okay, so it wasn't the best-kept secret in world history – Samsung had been openly teasing the new shape of its Galaxy Z Fold 8 for a couple of weeks. So, even without the many leaks that preceded it, we had a pretty good sense that the main Z Fold phone would be getting a new look.

Still, it's one thing to see leaks and another to get an entire Galaxy Unpacked event to check the phone out, and then the hands-on thoughts of our Tech editor, Mike Lowe. The phone looks like it's making a great impression on people in the first instance, although we'll doubtless get more context in the next few weeks.

I'll admit, though, that I've been a bit of a sceptic. The steep price tag attached to foldables makes them a non-starter for me, and I didn't see why a squatter design would change that. What I didn't expect was one moment in Samsung's presentation when they showed the phone opened up, but not in landscape mode – using a portrait orientation instead.

The photo at the top of this article shows that moment exactly, and that Samsung was using it to underline how the Z Fold 8 could be a great little e-reader alongside all the other more phone-like tools it offers. My surprise? I'm won over, at least moreso than before.

I've tested every Kindle released in the last few years, and I still regularly use the Kindle Paperwhite when I'm travelling, to cut down on the weight of a book (especially if I'm reading something chunky). Still, while I like an e-reader as much as the next reader, I'm mostly doing it for that weight reason.

So, if I had a phone that could be as satisfying to hold and as easy to read with, that would indeed be pretty tempting. There's a lot to wonder about in terms of ergonomics, still, and the biggest question for me would be how reliably I'd be able to read on the Z Fold 8 without worrying about battery life, but the concept it still quite a winning one.

The simple reality is that as long as these foldables stay this expensive, there's no way I'd ever commit to them – at £1,699, I just don't think the Z Fold 8 having a more adaptable aspect ratio is enough to move the needle. Still, this is the first time in a few years that I've even really perked my ears up at all in this area.

I'll be super interested in the folding iPhone we're likely getting later this year, but again will almost certainly never get my hands on one, if the rumoured pricing is to be remotely believed. Perhaps in half a decade, though, when folding phones are even more widespread, and the memory crisis has hopefully abated, I could end up not needing a Kindle at all – one less device is rarely a bad thing.

Alexa.com has officially arrived in the UK, allowing users to access Alexa+ straight from their web browser. Alexa+ first launched back in March as Amazon's biggest AI assistant upgrade yet, but at the time, the company only teased that browser access was on the way. Now, it's finally here.

Alexa.com brings the full Alexa+ experience to your computer, letting you manage your calendar, update to-do lists, control compatible smart home devices, ask questions and complete everyday tasks without needing to open the mobile app. It also means you don't necessarily need to be sitting in front of an Echo smart speaker to use Alexa+, as everything can now be accessed through your browser.

Alexa.com is available now, with Alexa+ Early Access customers able to head to Alexa.com and start chatting with the assistant from any supported web browser.

Amazon describes Alexa.com as a new way to interact with Alexa+, complementing the recently redesigned Alexa mobile app, which has also been updated with a more AI-focused interface. Together, they make it much easier to move between your phone, computer and Echo devices without losing the flow of a conversation.

Like Alexa+ itself, browser access is included at no extra cost for Amazon Prime members. If you already have access to Alexa+, you can start using Alexa.com today.

If you're curious about everything the upgraded assistant can do, be sure to check out the three things that impressed us most when we first tried Alexa+.

People sometimes like to gripe that there are no new ideas any more, especially when it comes to movie pitches, and while I think there's plenty out there to disprove that, the big streamers do have a certain predilection for familiar plots. I'm not trying to do The Runner down before it even has a chance, but watch its trailer (released this week) and you'll probably get where I'm coming from.

The film will hit Prime Video on 2 September, starring Gal Gadot as Maia, a successful lawyer gearing up for a massive day in court. She's going to have a wildly unexpected time, though, thanks largely to a remote kidnapper played by Damian Lewis, who's going to be dictating her actions with terrible threats.

Maia's a single mum, and she starts her day by dropping her son Dylan at school, before heading out on her morning run to clear her mind. She doesn't make it home, though, because midway around her route she gets a call from Dylan's phone. It's Lewis' mysterious criminal, informing her that he's got Dylan and the only way to get him back safely is to follow instructions.

Those instructions? They appear to involve Maia heading into the centre of London to pick up a weapon, then making her way to a hotel where the witness she's about to use in a major legal case is staying. She has to kill that witness or lose her son, according to the kidnapper, and that's quite the quandary to be shoved into.

It's fairly obvious from the trailer that Maia will do her best to avoid complying, but she'll also face nightmarish complications including having her (folding) phone stolen at one point. The voice-over from Lewis is slightly interesting for how clear and studio-recorded it sounds, but perhaps that'll feel different in the final film.

I'm mostly struck by the similarities to Run Lola Run, another movie about a woman having to run around a city at the behest of criminals, but if The Runner can get close to that film's cult following it'll be doing exceptionally well. We'll know more in early September when it gets added to the Prime Video library.

Here in the UK, the heat shows no sign of abating, even if we're all going to spend the week telling ourselves that 29 degrees is way better than 32 (it just about is). That means it's a great week to continue cowering inside, avoiding that heat with some good streaming.

Sure, if you have a portable air conditioner like me, then you'll be even happier, but the best news is that this is a really strong week for the best streaming services on the market (or, at least, the biggest ones). I've checked out everything being added to Netflix and Prime Video this week, to pick out three highlights that you're going to want to know about.
