Xbox One X long-term verdict and buying advice
When T3's Xbox One X review landed we said that "there's no doubting the Xbox One X's power and, when it's fed games that have been programmed to tap into that, the audio-visual experience is best-in-class."
Today, years after its release, it remains a powerful video game console but now has a proper library of 4K, HDR-capable titles to play, which wasn't the case at launch. It's a great console that can play games at 4K resolutions and play Ultra HD movies, too.
Of course, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are now out, and obviously any user thinking of buying last-gen now needs to ask themselves when, if at all, they plan to upgrade? If it is in a few months then ringing up an X today isn't a wise choice. However, if they intend to wait until the end of the year or even 2022 to upgrade, then the Series X will be a great stop-gap.
Of course, thanks to its ability to play 4K Ultra HD Blu-rays, even if the X was upgraded upon in the future then it will still offer that ability, making it a great secondary console or multimedia center. For students it's also a great choice of console, as it is affordable and has a huge library of games, while also not been anywhere near as desirable to potential thieves.
