Dyson has expanded its Airwrap Coanda 2x multi-styler lineup with four new attachments, all designed to make styling quicker, easier and more versatile. According to the brand, the new accessories benefit from improved airflow engineering and updated designs to deliver better control, faster wrapping and smoother results across a variety of hair types.

The new lineup includes the Conical Coanda 2x Curling Barrel, Large Round Volumising Brush 2x, 40mm Coanda 2x Curling Barrel (Long) and an updated Air Straightener 2x attachment.

Prices start from £34.90, with all four accessories available now from Dyson and John Lewis.

The Dyson Airwrap Coanda 2x originally launched in July 2025, introducing Dyson's second-generation motor alongside a brand new straightening attachment – the AirSmooth 2x. Now, the upgraded Air Straightener 2x (£39.90) is designed to take hair from wet to dry in as little as one pass, whilst continuing to avoid extreme heat.

Elsewhere, the new Conical Coanda 2x Curling Barrel (£34.90) has been designed for those who prefer softer curls. Its tapered shape creates tighter curls at the roots that gradually loosen towards the ends, giving hair a more effortless finish whilst making it easier to style close to the scalp.

The Large Round Volumising Brush 2x (£34.90) features a larger brush head that's designed to create bouncier blow-dries with added lift, whilst the 40mm Coanda 2x Curling Barrel – Long (£34.90) has been built with longer and thicker hair in mind. Dyson says the upgraded barrel offers 30% more power than the previous Airwrap i.d., allowing it to wrap hair faster and produce more consistent curls.

Watch out, Dyson – Beldray is taking on the global brand with its very own bladeless fan. Offering both heating and cooling functions, the Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan has launched just in time for the next UK heatwave.

Bladeless fans have become extremely popular since Dyson invented them back in 2008. Most Dyson fans have this design which features a large, looping shape with no hidden blades, so they expel intense cooling air in a safer way.

Many other fan brands have been inspired by this style, including Beldray with its new Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan. This 2-in-1 fan can be used to keep your home comfortable all year round, thanks to its dual heating element that offers both heating and cooling functions.

Starting with its fan settings, the Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan has nine fan speeds, and oscillates by 80°. Using its BLDC motor, users can select the temperature from 5-35°. As a heater, the Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan has 2000W heating power and four heat speeds to choose from.

Measuring 84cm x 22.5cm x 22.5cm, the Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan is surprisingly compact and fits nicely in any room. It has an LED digital display just underneath the main blades, so you can manually adjust the settings on the fan or via its remote control.

My favourite feature of the Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan is its LED atmosphere light which is located at the bottom of the fan. It offers blue, red and green colours that are designed to set the mood, and indicate what setting you’re using.

The Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan comes with a 1-8 hour timer, so it can be used throughout a full night for bedtime use. Once you set the timer, the fan will turn itself off to conserve energy. But in terms of price, the Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan is much more affordable than other models on the market, particularly the Dyson fans that it’s no doubt inspired by.

The portable power station market has become increasingly crowded in recent years, but Jackery's latest launch suggests the company is thinking beyond bigger batteries and faster charging speeds.

The brand has unveiled the FridgeGuard, a new home battery that it describes as the world's slimmest refrigerator backup solution.

At just 67mm thick, the device looks noticeably different from the rugged, toolbox-like power stations that have traditionally dominated the category (see also our Jackery Explorer 3000 V2 review).

On paper, the FridgeGuard is designed primarily to keep refrigerators running during power outages, packing a 1,024Wh LiFePO4 battery and delivering 800W of continuous output with 1,600W peak power.

It also offers a 10ms UPS switchover designed to keep sensitive appliances, such as laptops, connected and running without interruption.

However, despite the name, the refrigerator positioning appears to be more of a use case than a limitation.

The FridgeGuard features a single AC outlet and can support a range of household devices, including home office equipment, aquarium pumps, CPAP machines and other essential appliances that you may want to keep running during a blackout.

Jackery claims the battery is compatible with 99% of modern refrigerators and can provide up to 15 hours of backup power, or up to 30 hours when paired with an expansion battery.

A different vision for home backup power

What's arguably more interesting than the specifications is what the FridgeGuard represents.

According to Jackery, the company wants to bring a more premium, design-led approach to home energy products, and the FridgeGuard has been designed with this approach in mind.

It abandons Jackery's familiar orange-and-black aesthetic in favour of a slim silver chassis that can be floor- or wall-mounted, or installed directly alongside appliances.

It's a strategy reminiscent of how brands such as Dyson transformed products consumers rarely thought about into aspirational household items, with fans, vacuum cleaners and air purifiers becoming objects people were happy to display rather than hide away.

From utility hardware to lifestyle product?

The launch arrives as more homeowners become aware of grid instability, rising energy costs and the potential benefits of home energy resilience.

At the same time, consumers are increasingly willing to pay more for products that combine functionality with thoughtful design.

That creates an opportunity for a product such as the FridgeGuard, but it also raises questions.

While the slim profile and permanent installation approach are undoubtedly appealing, some buyers may still prefer larger multi-purpose power stations that can power multiple devices at once and be moved around the home when needed.

That's what makes the FridgeGuard such an interesting launch – Jackery appears to be making a bet on the future of the category itself.

The company believes home backup power can become a lifestyle product rather than an emergency piece of equipment.

2026 is the year of the portable fan! As T3’s Home Editor, I’ve tested my fair share of tower, desktop and pedestal fans, but this year, I’ve been inundated with portable, handheld fans, like the new Dyson HushJet Mini Cool.

Dyson announced its first-ever portable, handheld fan in April 2026, and it quickly caught a lot of people’s attention. The main reason is the design is quite unusual – something Dyson is well known for – with the star-shaped fan top looking like the sandworm from Dune.

But after spending a few weeks with the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool, it’s quickly become my go-to fan for quick, powerful cooling – here’s why.

Dyson HushJet Mini Cool review: price and availability

The Dyson HushJet Mini Cool fan is available to buy for £99.99 / $99.99 at Dyson and select retailers, like Amazon, Currys, Argos and John Lewis. It comes in Carnelian/Sky, Ink/Cobalt and Stone/Blush colours – I tried the latter. The Dyson HushJet Mini Cool also has a two year warranty.

Dyson HushJet Mini Cool review: design and features

Described as a multi-functional fan, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool can be used absolutely anywhere. Measuring 38mm and weighing just 212g, it can stand on your desk, be held in your hand, fit in your bag and even worn around your neck.

Powered by Dyson’s HushJet projection, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool delivers up to 65,000 rpm of cooling air without turbulence. It comes with five speed settings and a boost mode which can ‘turbo-charge’ the airflow up to 25m/s. The Dyson HushJet Mini Cool also features an acoustically engineered motor and anti-vibration rubber mount that work to reduce the noise it makes.

Another bladeless model from Dyson, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool has a honeycomb mesh over the fan for extra protection and to keep everything clean. The tip of the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool has a star shape, and it can be twisted around by 360 degrees so you can have the cool air pointing at or away from you.

Aside from the strange-looking tip of the fan, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool has a simple ‘body’ with an on/off switch and + and - button to increase or decrease the fan speed. When turned on, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool has an LED indicator atop the speed button which lights up to show you the setting. It also lights up when charging.

The Dyson HushJet Mini Cool comes with a USB-C cable for charging and a charging stand, a travel pouch and a neck dock. It takes three hours to charge and its 5000 mAh battery capacity gives the fan up to six hours of runtime on its lowest setting.

The ‘neck dock’ slips onto the fan and acts as a necklace so you can wear the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool round your neck for on-the-go use. Dyson also offers other accessories like the grip clip or universal mount but these are sold separately.

Dyson HushJet Mini Cool review: performance

I mainly tested the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool during a UK heatwave, so it came in more than handy. It easily fit into my work backpack and handbags for on-the-go use, and its easy controls meant it was up and running in seconds for quick cooling relief.

I liked the amount of settings that the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool had. With five speed settings available, I found all of them to be extremely powerful, even at the lowest speed. Compared to other portable fans I’ve tried, like the Shark ChillPill, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool felt a bit simple and limited – but basic is best sometimes.

The battery life was good, although the higher the speed, the quicker the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool will run out – boost mode will only give you about an hour of use. However, as the other settings on the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool were powerful already, I didn’t find myself needing to use the higher, more intense speeds. The projection of the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool was also extremely impressive, and it has the strongest output of any recent fans I’ve tried.

The design of the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool won’t be for everyone, but in general, I liked the way it looked. Its lightweight, slim dimensions made it easy to hold, and the base of the fan was flat so it was easy for it to stand up on my desk for hands-free cooling. I personally didn’t feel the need for the neck dock accessory but it could appeal to some people, and it’s nice to have as an option.

Although Dyson engineered its motor to have better acoustics, I did find the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool to be very loud when in action. Increasing from speed one to speed two saw a huge step up in noise, and the fifth setting is just as loud as a regular fan. It’s definitely not a fan that will blend into the background, that’s for sure.

Dyson HushJet Mini Cool review: verdict

In terms of power, projection and ease of use, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool is hard to beat. The design might be unusual but it’s comfortable to hold and travel with, and has a good 360-degree swivel head to offer more personalised cooling controls.

The five speed settings of the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool offer impressive cooling, although the sound is pretty deafening. It might be too simple to some, especially as more fans are offering misting and night modes, but sometimes simplicity is key which is the case with the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool.

Compared to other Dyson fans, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool is the cheapest fan – and product – that the brand has introduced. It’s also pretty affordable when put against other portable fans, so you’ll like the price, too.

Dyson HushJet Mini Cool review: alternatives to consider

An amazing portable fan that also came out in 2026 is the Shark ChillPill. Another handheld option, the Shark ChillPill has three attachments which turns it into a 3-in-1 fan – high-speed, mister and cooling plate. It’s more expensive than the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool at £129.99 / $129.99, but it offers a lot more features.

Watch out, Dyson – Lidl just debuted its very own bladeless fan dupe in the middle aisles of select stores. The Tronic White Large Bladeless Fan has an eerily similar design to that of Dyson’s range of fans, but is a fraction of the price – but you’ll need to be quick if you want it this week.

Right now in the UK, we’re currently experiencing a massive heatwave. While I’m definitely welcoming the hotter temperatures, it’s unseasonably stifling at the moment, so cooling down with a reliable fan is a must. The one catch, though? Because it’s hot, almost every fan is sold out, so the next best place to shop is your local supermarket.

Case in point: the Tronic White Large Bladeless Fan has just hit Lidl stores, and it’s selling out fast. However, if you can manage to get your hands on the Tronic White Large Bladeless Fan at your local Lidl, you’d be getting an impressive fan that is a far cheaper version of Dyson’s iconic bladeless models.

The Tronic White Large Bladeless Fan has a loopy, bladeless design which looks the part, is easy to clean and has good safety features. Measuring 249mm x 249mm x 970mm, the Tronic White Large Bladeless Fan stands tall, and has a stylish matte finish that looks the part in any room in your house.

At the front of the Tronic White Large Bladeless Fan is an LED display which shows off the fan’s speed settings, operating modes and timer. It comes with a remote control for hands-free use, and while it’s not cordless, it has a long 180cm cord.

The Tronic White Large Bladeless Fan comes with 20 speed settings and four oscillation settings that range from 30, 60, 90 and 120 degrees. It also has four operating modes – normal, natural, power and sleep – so you can use it throughout the day and into the night.

Speaking of night use, the Tronic White Large Bladeless Fan has a timer function of up to eight hours, so it’ll turn off after a set amount of time, depending on how long you want to use it for. If I desperately needed a fan to tackle this week’s heatwave, the Tronic White Large Bladeless Fan is the one I’d recommend.

The Tronic White Large Bladeless Fan is available in select Lidl stores for £59.99. The UK this week is absolutely scorching so this fan is expected to sell out quickly, so you’ll want to be quick to get your hands on it.

Dyson has officially launched the new V10 Konical alongside its Auto-empty Dok, marking it as the brand's first-ever self-emptying vacuum setup. The Auto-empty Dok automatically transfers dust and debris into a sealed bin liner that can hold up to 60 days’ worth of dirt, whilst a fully sealed HEPA filtration system captures fine particles during the process.

It follows the success of the V16 Piston Animal and the PencilVac Fluffycones from late last year, but this feels like a more practical solution for anyone who’s tired of constantly emptying their vacuum or dealing with airflow blockages. By moving debris straight into a larger, sealed container, it should help reduce both of those common frustrations.

Right now, only the Dyson V10 Konical is available to buy on its own, priced at £449.99. The Auto-empty Dok will be available from 8th July 2026, bundled with the V10 Konical for £569.99. We've also found it listed at Currys for the same price,

As for the vacuum itself, the V10 Konical comes with a de-tangling conical cleaner head designed to prevent long hair and pet fur from wrapping around the brush bar. It also features Dyson’s signature green laser-style illumination, which helps reveal fine dust you’d usually miss on hard floors.

It weighs just 2.65kg and offers 150 AW of power, providing around 60 minutes of runtime and a 0.54-litre dust bin capacity.

Another nice touch is that the Auto-empty Dok is backward compatible, meaning existing Dyson V8 Cyclone owners can upgrade without replacing their entire setup. Accessories are also interchangeable across the V8, V8 Cyclone and the new V10 Konical, so you can keep using the tools you already have.

Never one to disappoint, Dyson is back with another new fan launch, and this time, its airflow follows you around the room – yes, really! The new Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool comes with AI intelligent sensing technology to keep you cool wherever you are in your home.

Dyson’s line-up of fans and air purifiers are extensive, but the Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool is the first time the brand has launched a ‘following’ fan, a.k.a a fan that tracks your movement.

With its Find+Follow air projection technology, the Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool detects and responds to where you and others are in a room. Rather than you having to manually adjust its oscillation or speed, the fan directs its airflow to where you are to help cool you down more precisely.

As the name suggests, the airflow of the Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool actually follows you as you move around the room. When you leave, it will automatically stop to minimise energy usage, and if there’s more than one person with you, the fan will spread the air evenly around.

The design of the Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool is similar to its other fans and purifiers. It has a large loopy shape with a bladeless design, and a small sensor stands up in the middle for the intelligent sensing and tracking. The fan has a circular screen at the front which shows off your settings, and it can be used via the MyDyson app.

Using an AI vision system, the sensor in the Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool learns the way you move to offer you better cooling. Importantly, it doesn’t store or detect your identity, and all processing is done securely in the machine to protect your privacy.

With cooling and purifying in mind, the Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool has an advanced K-Carbon and HEPA filtration system. The filter and the fan’s auto-sensing system monitors allergens, odours, gases and more, and captures up to 99.95% of particles to keep the air in your home cool and clean.

Not many brands have adopted this technology yet, making Dyson one of the first to introduce it. As quoted by Omer Ali, Senior Dyson Engineer, “We designed the Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool to respond to real human behaviour… With Find+Follow air projection, the machine automatically oscillates and directs airflow to the person even as they move to different areas of the room, so you can enjoy consistent comfort without constantly repositioning the product.”

It’s always a good day when Dyson drops a brand new hair tool, and that’s exactly what happened earlier this week. After years of fans asking for something they can properly take on the go, the brand has finally delivered with the Dyson Supersonic Travel.

Fast forward a few days and I’ve now been using it pretty much non-stop, so I’ve got plenty of thoughts. If you’re even slightly tempted, you might want to brace yourself – because there are quite a few reasons why this could end up on your wishlist very quickly.

Price and availability

The Dyson Supersonic Travel comes in at £249.99 via Dyson, as well as retailers like Boots and John Lewis. If you buy directly from Dyson, you also get a free travel bag which is usually priced at £45. The hair dryer is also available in the US, priced at $299.99.

Right now, it’s only available in one colourway – Ceramic Pink and Rose Gold – which is easily one of Dyson’s most popular finishes. However, I expect Dyson will release it in more colours, especially if it ends up being as popular as it’s likely to be.

Attachments

In terms of attachments, the Supersonic Travel keeps things simple and comes with just the smoothing nozzle – the same one we’ve seen on the original Supersonic and the Nural. However, the hair dryer itself works with existing Supersonic attachments, which means if you already own either of its predecessors, you don’t need to rebuy anything. It's a huge advantage, and is actually the first time we’ve seen this kind of crossover within Dyson’s hair tool lineup.

They also still use Dyson's magnetic design too, although I’ll come back to that in a second, because it’s not completely identical across the board.

Design and features

Despite being 31% smaller than its predecessors, there’s a lot going on here beyond just the compact size. Design wise, it still looks unmistakably Dyson, with a minimal body and nice weight distribution. It feels balanced and easy to use, even for longer styling sessions.

You still get intelligent heat control, measuring airflow temperature over 100 times per second to prevent heat damage and help maintain shine, which is one of Dyson’s standout features. It also has a high-velocity airflow, so drying still feels quick and controlled, even though it’s been slightly optimised for portability.

That said, standout feature for me has to be the automatic universal voltage. It adapts wherever you are in the world without needing a converter, which is something Dyson hasn’t managed on any of its tools so far. You'll know how frustrating it can be if you’ve ever travelled to the US and realised your styling tool won’t work, so this completely solves that problem.

You also get three heat settings and two speed settings, along with a two-metre cable, which feels more than generous for a travel tool.

Performance

Overall, the Supersonic Travel feels like a really natural addition to Dyson’s lineup, and my experience with it so far has been great. It’s noticeably lighter and smaller, but still delivers results that feel almost identical to the Supersonic Nural.

It's important to know that there are a couple of features missing. There’s no Scalp Protect mode, but that wasn’t something I personally loved on the Nural anyway, so I don’t feel like I’m missing out. You also don’t get a cool shot button, which might matter if you rely on it to set your style, but you won't notice it if you didn’t use it before.

It’s also just really comfortable to hold and still feels powerful, which is exactly what you want from something designed for travel. I wasn’t able to test the universal voltage abroad yet, but knowing it’s there is probably my favourite thing about the whole tool.

One thing I did notice is that whilst all Supersonic attachments are technically compatible, they don’t all feel the same when it comes to the magnetic fit. Smaller attachments snapped on perfectly with no issues, but some of the larger ones – like the Flyaway Smoother – needed a bit more effort to attach and didn’t feel quite as secure. They still worked, but it wasn’t as seamless as with the smaller pieces.

All in all, the Supersonic Travel is essentially everything great about its predecessors, just in a much smaller, more portable form. For me, the features it leaves out aren’t dealbreakers, so considering how highly I rated the Supersonic Nural, the fact this delivers such similar results really says it all.

Verdict

The Dyson Supersonic Travel feels like a long-overdue addition to the brand's lineup. It keeps the performance, design and overall experience of Dyson’s full-size dryers, but packs it into something far more practical for travel. The universal voltage alone makes it stand out from pretty much everything else on the market, and whilst a few features are missing, they’re unlikely to be dealbreakers for most people. If you travel regularly and want salon-level results wherever you are, this is easily one of the most compelling options out there right now.

Alternatives to consider

When it comes to alternatives, the first one that comes to mind is the Laifen Mini High-Speed Hair Dryer. It’s also compact and has smart temperature control, but it doesn’t offer universal voltage – so Dyson still has the edge here.

I’d also still recommend the Supersonic Nural if you’re mainly looking for a hair dryer to use at home. It has more features overall, and whilst it’s still relatively lightweight, it’s better suited as a full-time styling tool rather than something you pack in your suitcase.

Dyson has unveiled the new Supersonic Travel, and it finally fixes one of the most frustrating issues with the original. Not only is the new version 32% smaller, but it now comes with universal voltage – so you can actually use it anywhere in the world without worrying about converters.

The Supersonic Travel also works with existing Dyson Supersonic and Supersonic Nural attachments, meaning you don’t have to purchase a whole new set. That’s a welcome change, especially considering what happened with the Coanda 2x Airwrap launch, where older attachments weren’t compatible.

The Dyson Supersonic Travel is priced at £249.99 and is available to buy now via Dyson’s website. It's also available in the US, priced at $299.99.

Just like its predecessors, the Supersonic Travel uses intelligent heat control technology, measuring airflow temperature over 100 times per second to prevent extreme heat damage whilst still delivering fast, even drying. Dyson has also included a Scalp Protect Mode, which automatically adjusts the air temperature to be gentler on the scalp.

It comes with a Styling Concentrator attachment in the box, whilst other attachments – like the Diffuser, Wide Tooth Comb, Flyaway Smoother and Gentle air attachment – are available separately, so you can tailor the setup to your hair type and styling routine.

Floor cleaning has had a bit of a glow-up over the past few years. What used to be a chore involving a manky mop and a bucket of murky water has turned into a proper category in itself, with cordless wet/dry vacuums from the likes of Shark, Bissell and Tineco trying to make scrubbing the kitchen floors feel almost futuristic.

Dyson, of course, wasn’t going to leave them to it. The brand has already had a crack at the wet/dry vacuum world with its Submarine attachment and the Wash G1, but its latest effort takes a different approach entirely. The new PencilWash is essentially a super-slim electric mop that ditches suction altogether in favour of a self-propelling soft roller, water dispensing along eight points, and a squeegee that scrapes dirty water back into a tank.

It's the partner product to last year's PencilVac, with the same pencil-thin handle and the same Submarine-style floor head used on the V15s Detect Submarine. There's a 30-minute battery life, a 300ml clean water tank, USB-style controls and a quoted weight of just 2.2kg.

I've been testing one for the past few weeks across my hard floors to see whether it really is the future of mopping. Here’s how I got on.

Dyson PencilWash review: price and availability

The Dyson PencilWash is on sale now globally, listed at £299.99 in the UK direct from Dyson, with regular availability at Amazon, Very and QVC at the same price. In the US, it can be picked up for $349.99, and Australian buyers are looking at AU$549.

That puts it firmly in premium territory, and crucially, at almost exactly the same price as a proper wet/dry vacuum cleaner. The Shark HydroVac Cordless, for example, has a £330 RRP but can be picked up for as little as £200 on the likes of Amazon, and the Bissell CrossWave HydroScrub sits at a similar price, too. Both of those will tackle carpets and hard floors and use actual suction, so the PencilWash needs to work pretty hard to justify its asking price as a hard floors-only device.

Mind you, it’s the most affordable floor cleaner Dyson currently makes, so if you're set on the brand and don't fancy stretching to the Wash G1, it's the entry point.

Dyson PencilWash review: design and build

This is where the PencilWash really earns its keep. The handle is just 38mm thick, and the whole unit weighs a featherlight 2.2kg, which makes it dramatically easier to handle than pretty much any cordless wet/dry vac I've used. The copper-coloured finish loons and feels high-end, too, looking more like something you'd want to leave on display than shove in an under-stairs cupboard. It absolutely looks the part leant against your kitchen cupboards, that’s for sure.

The floor head is the same Submarine head used on Dyson's vacuum range, with a fluffy microfiber roller, a 300ml clean water tank, a squeegee, and a small dirty water tray that catches the runoff. It's all colour-coded in red where bits come apart, which makes assembly rather straight forward. The articulated head bends almost flat to slip under furniture, and swivels happily around chair legs and toilet bases. There's also a small LED display on the handle showing battery and mode, plus a power button and a boost button that adds extra water for tough spots.

The charging setup is a bit of an odd one, though. Instead of one neat dock, you get a charging stand for the wand and a separate tray for the floor head, which need to live in different spots. Dyson clearly wanted to keep things slim, but in practice it does mean the PencilWash takes up more space than it first looks.

Nevertheless, there are a couple of design oversights worth flagging. The dirty water tray isn't sealed, so it has to be carried very carefully to the sink unless you fancy dripping mucky water across your freshly cleaned floor. And the roller takes ages to dry properly, well over a day in my case, even with decent airflow. There's no self-cleaning mode or hot air drying like you get on the Wash G1, which you’d kind of expect at this price point.

Dyson PencilWash review: performance and features

On paper, the PencilWash should be brilliant. It's nippy, lightweight, and the self-propelling roller pulls itself along smoothly. What’s more, pushing it around feels almost effortless. For light maintenance cleaning, it does a perfectly decent job, picking up dust, footprints and the general low-level grime that builds up across a week.

The problem is that "perfectly decent" is about as far as it goes. Because there's no suction, the PencilWash relies entirely on the roller and squeegee to lift dirt and water off your floor. For dust and the odd splash, that's fine. For anything more involved, it can struggle.

I tested it on a tomato ketchup spill in the kitchen, and it was a proper mess. Rather than lifting the ketchup, the roller smeared it around, leaving streaks of pink water across the floor that I then had to chase down with a Swiffer. Trying to apply more pressure to scrub the stain out only caused the motorised roller to stall, which was frustrating. I had a similar issue with spilled oat milk, although it handled that slightly better, but again I was left with a wet film that needed wiping up afterwards.

That brings me to the bigger issue: the PencilWash leaves floors noticeably wetter than I'd expect. Without proper suction, water sits on the surface for a while after you've gone over it, particularly in grout lines on tiled areas. I found myself going back over patches with a dry cloth or, embarrassingly, an actual mop, which feels like it defeats the entire purpose of the device. If you've got young kids or pets running around, you'll need to be aware of that.

Boost mode does help with stickier spots, dispensing extra water for five seconds at a tap or 60 seconds when held. But adding more water to a device that struggles to pick up water in the first place is a slightly odd solution to the problem, in my opinion!

It's also worth saying that the PencilWash uses a remarkably small amount of water overall, which is genuinely impressive. The 300ml tank lasted me through my hard floors twice over before needing a refill, and the 30 minute battery life is more than enough for a typical clean, so you don’t find yourself having to charge it constantly.

The post-clean routine is where I lost quite a bit of respect for this gadget. You take the floor head to the sink, carefully decant the dirty water out of the unsealed tray (good luck not spilling), then pull the whole thing apart, rinse the roller and squeegee by hand, wipe down the tray, and leave it all to dry for the best part of a day. There's no quick way around any of this by the way - an automatic clean, hot air drying, or something would have been nice. But you don’t get any of that. Compared to a wet/dry vac that runs a self-clean cycle while you have a cup of tea, it feels a bit overly simplified and - dare I say - lacking.

Another annoying trait is that the PencilWash’s roller also doesn't reach right up to the edge of skirting boards, leaving a half-inch gap un-mopped, which is a shame because that's exactly where dust tends to gather. Saying that, it does give floors a decent clean, and you’ll be surprised how much dirt was on your floors before you start cleaning them, so it’s obvious there’s a benefit here. I think the issue is that it just doesn’t perform as well as I was expecting for the price point.

Dyson PencilWash review: verdict

The Dyson PencilWash is one of those products that nails the bits Dyson is famous for and falls down on the bits it should know better about. The design is top notch, it's wonderfully light, the articulated head reaches into spaces other cleaners can't, and for a quick mid-week tidy of dusty hard floors, it's actually quite enjoyable to use.

But the lack of suction is a real problem. Floors are left wetter than they should be, sticky messes get smeared rather than lifted, unless you go over them lots of times, and the post-clean routine is genuinely grim compared to what rivals are offering at the same price. Options such as the Shark HydroVac and Bissell CrossWave, while they might have their own issues, both cost around the same money and will handle carpets too while also having proper self-cleaning modes.

If you live in a small flat with hard floors throughout, can't manage a heavier cleaner, and only need something for light maintenance, the PencilWash makes sense. But for everyone else, I'd think long and hard before parting with £300 for what is, when you boil it down, a very pretty motorised mop.

The Dyson Supersonic Nural first arrived on the scene in 2024 as the long-awaited evolution of Dyson’s original Supersonic hair dryer, which completely changed the haircare category back in 2016. At first glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking they’re pretty similar, but there’s actually a lot more going on here than meets the eye.

The Nural takes everything that made the original such a standout and gives it a clever upgrade, adding a layer of smart features designed to protect your scalp and tailor the styling experience more to you.

Price and availability

In the UK, the Dyson Supersonic Nural is priced at £399.99 when bought directly from Dyson, with occasional bundles sometimes appearing at the same price point depending on availability. In the US, it typically retails for $499.99.

It is widely available through Dyson’s own website and Dyson stores, as well as selected retailers such as John Lewis, Currys and Argos.

I’ve been testing the Pink and Rose Gold colourway, but the Nural is also available in Red Velvet and Gold, Prussian Blue and Rich Copper, and Dyson’s latest finish, Ceramic Apricot and Topaz.

Attachments

As with other Dyson hair tools, there are different variations depending on your hair type. These versions then come with different attachments, so your kit is tailored to how you’ll actually use it.

I’ve been trying the Straight to Wavy option, which includes five attachments. The Gentle air attachment is designed for close-up drying and styling, whilst the Styling Concentrator has been re-engineered with a wider, thinner blade of air for more precise styling. There’s also the Diffuser, which disperses air evenly around curls, the Flyaway Smoother to create a finished look, and the Smoothing Nozzle to remove unwanted frizz.

Only the Gentle air attachment, Styling Concentrator and Smoothing Nozzle are compatible with Scalp Protect Mode, which I’ll come onto in a second. Each attachment connects magnetically to the dryer itself, which makes switching between them quick and easy.

Design and features

The Dyson Supersonic Nural is still instantly recognisable as a Dyson hair dryer, keeping the same signature cylindrical design with the motor housed in the handle for better balance. It remains compact and lightweight, with airflow running through the central hollow barrel.

Where it differs from the original Supersonic is in the added intelligence, as inside the barrel are new sensors that allow the machine to actively adapt as you style. There’s also capsule illumination, where a subtle light changes colour depending on the heat level, giving you a clear visual cue as you adjust settings.

It also includes practical smart features like pause detect, where airflow automatically reduces when you put the dryer down, then resumes when you pick it back up.

One of the biggest upgrades is Scalp Protect Mode, which measures how close the dryer is to your head and automatically adjusts heat output in real time. The closer it gets, the more it reduces temperature to help protect your scalp and minimise heat damage, whilst still drying efficiently. You can switch this on or off, and as mentioned, it only works with three of the five attachments.

Another smart addition is attachment recognition. The Nural can detect which styling attachment is in use and automatically recall your preferred heat and airflow settings for that tool, making switching between styling routines quicker and more seamless.

When it comes to controls, there are three precise airflow settings – high, medium and low. There are also four heat settings, ranging from 28°C up to 100°C, as well as a 28°C cold shot designed to set your hair after styling.

Performance

The Dyson Supersonic Nural is undoubtedly one of the best hair dryers on the market today, and it feels like a significant step forward from its predecessor. Within around a week of use, I noticed my hair felt less tangled and dry, and noticeably shinier too. As nothing else in my haircare routine changed, it definitely like this was down to the Nural itself.

The dryer is lightweight to hold and has an undeniable premium quality about it. It feels sturdy and expensive in the hand, and even small details like the magnetic attachments add to its high-end feel.

As with most hair tools, I quickly worked out which attachments suited me best. The Gentle Air attachment was the one I reached for most to rough-dry my hair before styling, especially as it works with Scalp Protect Mode. I’m not particularly sensitive to heat, so I don’t always notice when tools get too close to my scalp, which made this feature a really useful for protecting hair health. It was also impressively quick, taking around 8-9 minutes to dry my hair, and as it’s the lightest attachment, it barely added any weight.

I also absolutely loved the Flyaway Smoother. Having used something similar on the Airwrap i.d., I was already a fan, but I much prefer the Nural’s version as it has a sort of integrated brush that helps smooth and detangle further.

The other attachments performed well too, but I found myself naturally gravitating towards these two the most. I was also surprised by how quiet the Nural is, which was great when trying to avoid early morning complaints from my partner.

That said, I did find that Scalp Protect Mode could occasionally lower the temperature more than necessary, even when the dryer wasn’t particularly close to my head. It’s clearly a very sensitive feature, which is better than the alternative, and it can be turned off quickly. However, when I was in a rush, I sometimes chose not to use it, as it could slightly increase drying time. Still, it’s a great feature to have overall, and not something I’d want removed.

Verdict

The Dyson Supersonic Nural takes everything that made the original Supersonic so popular and refines it with incredibly useful smart features. From Scalp Protect Mode to attachment recognition, it feels like a more intelligent hair dryer that actively works with you as you style. Whilst some of its settings are a little over-sensitive, its overall performance, build quality and results are hard to fault. It’s undeniably expensive, but if you want a premium hair dryer that prioritises both styling and hair health, the Nural is about as good as it gets right now.

Alternatives to consider

If you like the sound of Dyson’s technology but want more styling versatility, I’d highly recommend the Dyson Airwrap i.d. It achieved five stars in its full review and shares many of the same intelligent features, but with the added ability to curl and shape as well as dry.

Another strong alternative is the Shark FlexStyle, which delivers a similarly fast-drying experience with a focus on airflow rather than extreme heat. It doesn’t quite match Dyson’s precision heat control or scalp-focused smart features, but for everyday styling, it's a very close contender.

Watch out, Shark – Dyson has just announced its first-ever portable, handheld fan and it has the most unusual design I’ve ever seen. The new Dyson HushJet Mini Cool is a multi-functional fan that comes in three colours and with multiple accessories so you can wear it and take it with you on-the-go.

While you could argue that most fans are portable depending on their size, it seems actual portable, handheld fans are all the rage this year. In March 2026, Shark announced the Chill Pill, a 3-in-1 cooling system that can clip to objects or be worn hands-free.

Now, Dyson is joining the party and releasing its very own portable fan. Called the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool, this fan weighs just 212g and measures 38mm so it’s extremely lightweight and can easily fit in your bag for on-the-go use. Described as a multi-functional fan, it can sit on your desk, be held in your hand or even used as a wearable, thanks to its accompanying accessories.

As T3’s Home Editor, I’ve tested many fans in my day but none that have looked like this one. The Dyson HushJet Mini Cool looks like it stepped out of the Dune film series, as the HushJet nozzle at the top of the fan looks similar to the Sandworm – and I kind of love it.

Aside from the unique design, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool offers a powerful airflow using a brushless DC motor that spins up to 65,000 RPM. It has five airflow speeds to choose from, including a boost mode for extra power during heatwaves, and reaches up to 25m/s.

In recent years, Dyson has been working hard to reduce the amount of noise its Dyson fans and purifiers make. The same can be said for the new Dyson HushJet Mini Cool as its nozzle has been engineered to make little noise while eliminating high pitched whines and whirring. It also has an impressive six hour battery and comes with a charging stand and USB-C charging cable.

As Dyson is known for its iconic styles and colours, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool is available in three colourways – Ink / Cobalt, Carnelian / Sky and Stone / Blush. It also comes with a Neck Dock and Travel Pouch so you can wear it like a lanyard – because why not?!

The Dyson HushJet Mini Cool is expected to be available from May 2026 and will be priced at £99.99.

Dyson treated us to a whole host of vacuum cleaners last year, ranging from the impressive Dyson V16 Piston Animal to the new Dyson 360 Vis Nav Spot + Scrub AI. However, amongst those launches was something unlike anything we’d really seen before, coming in the form of a very compact cordless vacuum cleaner.

The Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones is the brand’s slimmest vacuum cleaner yet. Featuring a new motor and a much smaller overall design, it’s hugely different from anything Dyson has done before, which meant we couldn’t wait to get it in to try.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones review: price and availability

The Dyson PencilVac is priced at £429.99, or $599.99 in the US. This is obviously a lot cheaper than many of the best Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners, including the Dyson V16 Piston Animal, so it’s going to gain a lot of attention from people wanting to know whether it’s a good alternative to some of the pricier models.

Personally, I think it’s a good price for the PencilVac. At the end of the day, it does come with slightly lower specs in order to achieve its incredibly lightweight design, so it’s good to see Dyson reflecting that in the price.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones review: unboxing and set up

The PencilVac is very easy to set up, and arguably a lot simpler than many other vacuum cleaners I’ve tried before. It comes in a very compact cardboard box which holds the charging base, the Fluffycones floorhead, the crevice tool, the top handle (which houses the battery) and the extension tube which also contains the collection bin.

From there, I simply slotted the handle into the extension tube and placed it onto the Fluffycones floorhead.

You’ll also find the power cable in the box, alongside two extra parts that need to be attached to the charging base. This results in a base that powers the vacuum whilst it’s docked, and also helps it stay upright.

The crevice tool also has a place to sit when it’s not in use, which keeps everything very tidy.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones review: design and features

There are many things that make the PencilVac unique, but I have to start with the collection bin, as it’s probably the feature many people have clicked on this review to see. It looks absolutely tiny, but it actually holds 0.8 litres, which is only 0.2 litres smaller than the average dust bin.

It works by using suction to compact dust at the top of the compartment, allowing it to keep working efficiently without becoming blocked as it fills. It’s a really clever piece of engineering from Dyson, making the bin part of the vacuum’s design whilst also contributing to how lightweight it feels.

To empty the vacuum, you remove the floorhead and point the base of the wand into your bin. You then release a catch on the back and draw the collection bin’s outer tube downwards, which pushes the compacted dust straight out.

There’s also a small interface on the front of the vacuum that displays the current power mode – Eco, Medium or Boost – along with the remaining battery time.

Speaking of the design, the PencilVac has a 38mm handle that fits neatly into your hand. Despite there being no traditional handle to grip, it's still surprisingly easy to control.

The Fluffycones floorhead itself features dust detection lights that help you spot dusty sections of floor, located on both the front and the back, so it doesn’t matter which direction you’re pushing the vacuum. It also features four conical brush bars, designed to lift and strip hair so it can be sucked up easily without tangling.

Alongside the floorhead, you also get a 2-in-1 crevice tool, which is great for corners and clearing cobwebs. As mentioned earlier, it sits neatly on the charging base when not in use, which is really handy and avoids having to hunt for attachments when you need them.

In terms of features, the PencilVac has a maximum suction power of 21kPa, powered by Dyson’s Hyperdymium 140k motor. The advanced four-cell lithium-ion battery system gives you around 30 minutes of battery life, which isn’t huge, but is one of the compromises made to achieve the compact design. That said, the batteries are swappable click-in units, so you could easily buy additional batteries and keep them charged to extend the runtime.

There’s also a fully sealed filtration system, which captures and seals in 99.99% of microscopic particles and allergens as small as 0.3 microns. The collection bin also features Dyson’s syringe-style emptying system, which reduces dust clouds by pushing the compacted debris deep into your bin.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones review: performance

To start with, the things I was initially concerned about with this vacuum have actually turned out to be two of its strongest points – the power and the compact compression bin.

The PencilVac is really powerful, and whilst it's a shame it doesn't operate well on carpets, it's a perfect choice for those with hard floors. The dust bin is also very impressive, and holds a lot more debris than you’d expect. To keep it performing at its best, I’d still recommend emptying it after each session, but it’s impressive how much it can collect.

I’ve seen mixed opinions on the Fluffycones floorhead, but personally I’ve been really impressed with it. The shape worked particularly well in my home, allowing me to manoeuvre easily into corners and tight spaces without constantly having to reposition the vacuum.

The spotlights are also one of my favourite features of the entire vacuum. Not only do they help you spot dust that you’d otherwise miss, but I love that they’re positioned on both the front and the back of the floorhead.

The one thing that took a little getting used to was emptying the vacuum. It’s not difficult by any means, but the concept is so different from most other vacuums that it feels a bit unfamiliar the first few times you do it. However, once you understand the sliding mechanism and how the compacted dust is pushed out, it quickly becomes second nature.

One limitation worth mentioning is that you can’t really use the PencilVac as a handheld vacuum, even with the crevice tool attached, as there’s no way to shorten the extension tube. This means the attachment is great for jobs like cleaning along skirting boards or reaching cobwebs in ceiling corners, but it’s less practical for typical handheld tasks like cleaning sofas, stairs or car interiors.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones review: verdict

Overall, the Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones is a very interesting and welcomed addition to Dyson’s cordless vacuum lineup. It won’t replace a full-power vacuum for homes with lots of carpets, but that’s not really what it’s trying to do. The clever compression bin, excellent dust-detecting lights and thoughtful charging dock design make it feel like a typically innovative Dyson product, even if a few compromises have been made to achieve such a slim design. If your home is mostly hard flooring and you want something effortless for regular cleans, the PencilVac is a fantastic option.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones review: alternatives to consider

If you like the sound of this review but think you’ll definitely need something more powerful, I’d strongly recommend the Dyson V16 Piston Animal. It’s much closer to your typical cordless vacuum, with a larger dust bin, stronger suction and longer battery life. Of course, it also comes with a higher price tag, but it’s a great option.

Another alternative to consider if you want to stick with something lightweight is the Gtech AirFOX Platinum. It weighs just 2.9kg, making it incredibly easy to move around the house, and it comes with a surprisingly generous set of accessories.

Dyson has unveiled its Ceramic Apricot and Topaz colourway across its entire haircare line for summer 2026. The new finish blends mandarin-orange tones with a soft apricot blush and subtle gold accents, creating a warm, sunlit look inspired by summer solstice.

It joins Dyson’s growing lineup of soft shades, including Ceramic Pink and Rose Gold and Jasper Plum. That said, it feels noticeably lighter than the brand’s most recent Red Velvet and Gold release, which launched earlier this year as a Valentine’s special.

As expected, the new colourway will be available across Dyson’s key haircare tools, including the Airwrap Co-anda 2x, Airwrap i.d. and Supersonic Nural. It’s available from today via Dyson’s website and Boots.

Dyson has just announced its latest wet floor cleaner, and it might beat the Wash G1 as my favourite Dyson cleaning tool. The new Dyson PencilWash is lighter and smaller than its other range of wet cleaners with an improved handle, weight and floorhead – here’s everything you need to know.

Best known for its line-up of vacuum cleaners, Dyson has since expanded into wet floor cleaners with the launch of the Dyson Wash G1 in 2024. This cleaner solved the common mop problem where dirty mops contaminate clean water buckets and your floors by incorporating clean and dirty water tanks into the design.

The Dyson PencilWash is the latest model, and unlike the Wash G1 which has separate water tanks protruding from the main body of the cleaner, the clean and dirty tanks are hidden within the floorhead. The 300ml clean water tank can clean up to 100m² while dirty water is extracted from the roller and sealed off in a separate tank.

The design of the Dyson PencilWash has similarities to the Dyson PencilVac, the brand’s newest slim vacuum cleaner. It has the same 38mm handle as the PencilVac, making it extremely slim and lightweight to maneuver. It also weighs just 2.2kg, twists gradually to steer around corners and can lie flat to 15cm to get under furniture.

For mopping, the Dyson PencilWash has two hydration modes so you can adjust the amount of water it releases. The floorhead features a microfibre roller that spins to remove wet and dry spills, and has an 8-point hydration system to deliver a fresh flow. This also helps the Dyson PencilWash cater to different floor types and stains.

I have the Dyson Wash G1 at home, and really enjoy using it, although I’ve often found it hard to carry up stairs to clean my bathroom floor. The Dyson PencilWash definitely sounds like it’s solved this issue, and the slimmer size and tanks has made the overall design less bulky.

Similar to the Wash G1, the Dyson PencilWash has a 30 minute runtime and comes with a swappable battery pack.

The Dyson PencilWash will be available to buy in March with a price of £299.99.

It always felt inevitable that Dyson would make its way into haircare formulations after producing some of the best styling tools the industry had seen. So, when the Chitosan range first launched in 2024, it was a very welcome arrival. Since then, we’ve also had the Omega Nourishing range, which brought things a little closer to home by using sunflower oil harvested from Dyson Farms in Lincolnshire.

However, it’s Dyson’s latest formulation that I’m enjoying the most – and I want to explain why.

Announced this morning, Dyson Amino is a leave-in scalp bubble treatment designed to support a healthy scalp for stronger-looking hair. Blending Dyson farm-grown barley with 11 amino acids and skincare-grade ingredients, it balances moisture and oils – delivering up to a 65% immediate boost in scalp hydration and up to a 62% reduction in excess oil.

I was lucky enough to be invited by Dyson to a secret briefing last week, where I was one of a small group able to try it for the first time. It was during this presentation – and even more so after using the product – that it clicked why this might be the brand's best formulation launch so far.

For context, I know the Chitosan pre-style cream works really well for me in keeping my style set for longer, but if I use the post-style serum, my hair can get greasy very quickly. It's the same story with the Omega Nourishing Range – the leave-in conditioning spray is perfect on wet hair when I want a boost of moisture, but the hydrating hair oil has to be used extremely sparingly or I’m instantly shiny in all the wrong ways.

Dyson Amino, though, feels different. It’s easily the most universal hair formulation the brand has created so far, and that’s because it focuses on the scalp first, which naturally leads to healthier hair overall.

Like Dyson’s other formulations, it can be applied to wet or dry hair directly onto the scalp, with around 8-10 pumps enough to cover the whole head. However, what sets it apart, though, is the way it transforms from a bubble into a serum, making it easy to distribute evenly without leaving any residue – and, crucially, without disrupting your style.

Having used it consistently this week, the lack of grease is what’s really stood out to me. It feels like one of those rare products that could work for most people’s scalps and hair types because of how lightweight it is. The bubble texture almost disappears as you work it in, and the fresh, earthy scent is an added bonus.

That’s ultimately why this is my favourite Dyson formulation so far. There’s no second-guessing how it’s going to behave on your hair, and whilst the other ranges are fantastic in their own right, this kind of universally wearable scalp treatment feels like a product that's been been missing.

T3’s Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai review in a sentence: A premium robot vacuum that benefits from beefy features but isn’t quite as smart as we’d hoped for.

The robot vacuum cleaner marketplace is packed with plenty of options. There are models that just vacuum, others that offer hard floor mopping too and, naturally, plenty that pack some AI now that everything has to have something vaguely artificial intelligence about it. The Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai robot vacuum even has it in the product title, just to underline that point.

This is the follow up to the Dyson 360 Vis Nav robot vacuum, which appeared a couple of years ago. That was a bold, brash and very pricey appliance that didn’t really catch on. The Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai is less showy and packs a more impressive set of premium features instead but, bizarrely, less suction. It’s big, bulky and does a little bit of everything, all topped off with some good old AI magic via a new app. I recently got one to try out and I’ve now spent a decent amount of time picking through its features.

One thing to note, which is often the case with feature-packed appliances, the best robot vacuums tend to be quite sizable and the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai is no exception. At 9kg, the docking station that comes as part of package is pretty chunky and, to be honest, not quite as good on the eye as something like the Dreame Aqua10 Roller Complete I tried a while ago. If you’ve got space though, the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai might be right up your street.

Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai review: price and availability

Alongside distinctive styling, Dyson products invariably come with a premium price tag and the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai is no different. The RRP for this model in the UK is £1,050 direct from the Dyson website, which is a lot although other premium robot vacuums from the likes of Dreame, Roborock and Eufy pack similar recommended retail price tags.

For the US market, the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai will likely cost in the region of $1,100 with official pricing yet to be announced. This is a serious machine aimed at buyers who want a do-it-all robot vac. The Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai does a lot, although it seems a bit miserly of them not to include mopping detergent as part of the package. Oh well.

Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai review: design

This is an expensive package, which comes with AI stain detection and intelligent navigation that lets it spot and avoid different objects in its path. On top of that, there is a low-maintenance design, which once set up requires minimal supervision. However, the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai is up against stiff competition especially when it comes to similar appliances that also offer warm water roller cleaning and a cleverly engineered app.

The Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai looks and feels like a serious bit of cleaning kit and arrives in a large box containing all of the component parts. I found getting it out and setup up very straightforward, which is always a bonus. The core components consist of the robot vacuum itself, plus rotating brushes that need to be clicked in place on the underside. Complimenting that is the sizable docking station, all of which is finished in black plastic.

Of course, this being a Dyson, there are some purple and red flourishes that remind you it’s a Dyson, most notably on the bin container and also on the underside of the robot vacuum. Not that this part is exactly visible unless you pick it up. This is also where the roller mop is situated, which in turn is kept operational by using the clean and dirty water tanks back on the base station to keep it going. Warm water cleaning is a positive here too, although this is a common feature on many of the latest robot vacuums.

One thing that does irk me is having to buy bags for vacuums, especially if they’re not very big and require more frequent replacement. The Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai wins on that front as it’s a bagless design with a tubular bin that sits in the docking station, with the water containers sitting immediately to its right. The docking station is also home for the robot vac when it’s not being used or when it needs recharging.

Once I’d got everything ready to go, which involved filling the clean water tank and adding cleaning detergent via a small port behind the container and charging, I called on the app to get mapping. The Dyson app looks quite good, but it didn’t seem quite as cleverly thought out as some of the rivals from those brands I mentioned above. It was a little bit patchy in places and could do with being a little more intuitive. I expected it to be smarter if I'm honest.

However, as a robot vacuum that just gets on with the job, I found the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai to be a very solid performer. At 18,000Pa the suction seemed decent enough and with those twin rotating brushes, the 6.6kg robot vacuum unit got into corners and around obstacles nicely too. The bin volume is 3 litres on the cleaner, but naturally that wasn’t an issue thanks to the chunky docking station that handled operational tasks like bin emptying and charging seamlessly. The robot vacuum has a runtime of up to 200 minutes as well, which is impressive.

On the point of the roller/mopping side of things, the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai definitely benefits from warm water roller cleaning, which it does as the roller revolves within the unit. This does make a real difference to the way these appliances works rather than using less effective cold water for flushing through. I’m not sure just how good the AI spot scrubbing side of things works, mind.

It worked fine on drips and drops that I put in its path. Similarly, the robot vacuum was able to spot more stubborn marks on my floors and did return to have a go at getting rid of them. The combined weight of the robot vacuum, the long roller and the dual-laser LiDAR did seem to help with its determination to assist. Overall, I’d say this side of the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai is acceptable enough if you’re not keen on getting a damp cloth and simply doing it yourself.

Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai review: verdict

With its fancy moniker, the Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai sounds impressive and it is an effective all round cleaner. Suction has been slightly reduced, apparently due to the way the roller cleaning works – there’s a lot packed into that body. Ironically, the Dyson 360 Vis Nav packed 22,000Pa. However, the appliance picked up all of the usual dust and detritus found on my hard floors. I think I’d still use a cordless stick vacuum for deeper carpet cleans mind.

Then there is the smart side of things, with the AI aspect being able to spot nearly 200 objects and avoid them whilst doing a cleaning round. I found this pretty good too, although if you, like me, prefer to have a proper vacuum job done, I found it was best to just pick up anything that could potentially get in the robot vacuum's path. All told, a little bit of human intervention let me get the best from this machine I think. Same goes for the spot scrubbing. It works, but I’m still better at getting jam stains off my laminate floors.

Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai review: alternatives to consider

There are oodles of bargains to be had in the robot vacuum marketplace with even the top models getting sizable discounts if the price tag here doesn't appeal. The Dreame X50 Ultra Complete robot vacuum, the beefy Ultenic T10, or the Hoover HG4 Hydro Pro, are all well worth a look. Elsewhere, the impressive Shark Matrix Plus Robot Vacuum has full vac and mop functionality as does the Roborock Qrevo Master robot vacuum.

For larger rooms, the iRobot Roomba Combo J9+ is a dependable option and does a little bit of everything. Meanwhile, the eufy Clean X8 Pro machine is similarly impressive as is the eufy X9 Pro and the keenly priced iRobot Roomba j7+. Finally, try looking at the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, the SwitchBot Mini K10+, the Eufy Omni S1 Pro or the Roborock Saros 10, all of which cover a variety of requirements.

Love is in the air! Dyson has just upgraded its bestselling hair tools with its most romantic colourway yet – and it’s quickly become my new favourite shade that the brand offers. Available on three hair tools, Dyson’s new Red Velvet and Gold range is limited edition and would make the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day.

When Dyson first announced that it would be moving from vacuum cleaners to hair dryers in 2016, not many people expected the brand to become such a big name in the hair styling industry. But here we are 10 years later, and Dyson’s line-up of hair tools are some of the best you can buy.

Now in its tenth year of designing and manufacturing hair stylers, Dyson is launching a new limited edition colourway, and to say I’m obsessed with it is an understatement. Known for its bright and powerful shades, the new limited edition colour is called Red Velvet and Gold, and is inspired by Valentine’s Day’s romantic palette.

The Red Velvet and Gold colour is available in three hair stylers – the Dyson Airwrap, the Dyson Airwrap i.d., and the Dyson Supersonic. All three products feature ceramic-touch red on the main body of the devices, and in the Airwrap’s case, a selection of its attachments. Metallic gold accents are on the buttons and airflow grates.

Long gone are the days when you needed a separate appliance for every single thing. Whether it’s the Thermomix TM7 that can literally do everything in the kitchen, or a multi-styler that curls, straightens and blow-dries your hair all at once, we now live in a world where clever, multi-use gadgets are designed to make life that little bit easier.

Now that winter is here, appliances like heaters and the best dehumidifiers start coming out of storage – only to be packed away again once temperatures rise. However, these days, there are also products that can do both heating and cooling, and Dyson is the latest brand to jump on board with the brand new Hot+Cool HF1.

As someone who is constantly cold but somehow still manages to overheat at night, I decided to set the HF1 up next to my bed and test it for a whole month to see whether it's really worth it – and you’ll find my full thoughts below.

Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 review: price and availability

The Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 has an RRP of £399.99 and is available from a number of selected retailers. At the time of writing, it’s sold out on Dyson’s own website, but you can still pick it up from John Lewis, Currys and AO.

Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 review: unboxing and setup

Unboxing and setting up the HF1 was very simple, especially since the main body comes pre-assembled. There’s a magnetic base that the unit sits on, and that’s pretty much it.

Like many of Dyson’s other appliances, the Hot+Cool HF1 comes with the familiar Dyson-style magnetic remote, which neatly stores on top of the device itself. The remote includes buttons for power, oscillation, fan speed and temperature control, as well as options to enable sleep mode, set a timer and turn on the child lock.

One big advantage the HF1 has over similar appliances is app integration. Through the Dyson app, you get access to a much more advanced range of settings, historical temperature readings, outdoor air quality data and easy remote control. I already use the Dyson app with several of my other Dyson products – including the WashG1 and the Dyson Airwrap i.d. – so adding another device was quick and painless.

Since my smart home is based around Amazon Alexa, I also connected the HF1 to the Alexa app so I could control it using my Amazon Echo Spot, which also lives on my bedside table.

The process is slightly different to other smart devices, as you have to link Dyson through the Alexa app by logging into your Dyson account. Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 review: design and features

The HF1 delivers both heating and cooling in one compact, bladeless unit, making it ideal for switching between seasons without cluttering your home with multiple appliances. Dyson’s Air Multiplier technology draws in surrounding air and projects it smoothly and powerfully, giving consistent airflow whether you’re trying to cool down or warm up a space.

The HF1 offers ten fan speeds and multiple oscillation angles, and the combination of oscillation plus the manual tilt design helps distribute air evenly around the room. When it comes to heating, it uses power-dense ceramic plates alongside the Air Multiplier system to warm spaces quickly – with Dyson claiming it can raise a room’s temperature by around 1°C in under two minutes.

Aesthetically, the HF1 sticks closely to Dyson’s minimalist design language, featuring a clean white and silver finish that fits neatly into modern interiors. It’s also very lightweight yet sturdy at the same time, so you can move it around easily when necessary.

Safety has clearly been thought through too. With no exposed blades or heating elements, the HF1 is safer to use around children and pets. There’s also automatic shut-off if the unit is tipped over, a child lock, a sleep mode with whisper-quiet operation and a dimmed display for nighttime use, as well as a timer that lets you choose when it turns off.

Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 review: performance

Testing the Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 has been really successful, and as someone who’s very protective of both her sleep and what earns pride of place on her bedside table, I’ve been really pleased with it.

Sleeping with a fan on is one of life’s little pleasures that I know I’m probably not meant to enjoy, according to the experts – so having a 2-in-1 heater and fan has felt a bit revolutionary. It’s been lovely having the heater on in the mornings to make those cold starts a little easier, and then switching to the fan for an hour at night to help me drift off to sleep.

The first thing I noticed about the HF1 is just how quiet it is, which makes it ideal for bedrooms and home offices. When sleeping, I didn’t really go above fan speed level two, but even at higher speeds it’s still impressively unobtrusive. The heater is slightly louder, which is worth noting, but given how I’ve been using it, it hasn’t been an issue at all.

When it comes to controls, I’ll be honest – I haven’t really been using the remote. I found it a little slow to respond, taking longer than expected for the device to register inputs. Instead, I’ve found it much easier to control the HF1 either by voice through Alexa or directly via the Dyson app. So if you already have a smart home setup and plan to use it that way, you should be absolutely fine.

All of the other controls worked perfectly when used remotely, especially the safety features and automatic shut-off. During the first few days of testing, I accidentally knocked the fan over whilst making the bed and it immediately turned itself off, which gave me a brief moment of panic before I realised that’s exactly what it’s designed to do.

One thing I did notice when using the heater setting is that the unit itself gets very hot. Whilst I don’t think this affects performance, it did make me a little cautious about how long I’d leave the heater running. I’ve tested heaters in the past that don’t get quite this hot, so it’s definitely something to keep in mind – especially when deciding where to place it and how long to use it for.

Aside from those small points, I’ve really enjoyed using the HF1 and would happily recommend it to anyone who asks, especially if you’re looking for a reliable, year-round bedside companion.

Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 review: verdict

Overall, the Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 has proven to be a useful and well-designed addition to my bedroom setup. It’s quiet, compact and incredibly convenient to have both heating and cooling in one sleek unit, making it ideal for year-round use. Whilst the remote isn’t the most responsive and the heater does get noticeably hot, the smart controls, strong safety features and great performance make up for it. If you’re looking for a premium bedside fan heater that fits seamlessly into your smart home, the HF1 is easy to recommend.

Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 review: alternatives to consider

One of the most similar products to the Dyson HF1 currently on the market is the Shark TurboBlade Cool + Heat. However, whilst it feels sturdy and looks premium, it’s noticeably heavier and bulkier, so I’d still recommend the HF1 if you’re after something more compact. It also lacks app connectivity and smart controls, which is a big downside for me.

Another alternative worth considering is the DREO Smart Whole-Room Heater and Circulator 714S, particularly if you’re looking for a more affordable option. It offers an impressive range of temperature settings, modes and oscillation options, and it’s even more lightweight and compact than the HF1. Our reviewer did mention some frustrations with the remote, so in that sense, they’re not entirely dissimilar.

Dyson is capping off a successful year with the release of three new floor cleaning products. Announced earlier this year, the PencilVac, Spot+Scrub and Clean+Wash are now finally available to buy, and having seen them in action, this is the one I think you should buy.

2025 has been a busy year for Dyson, with the brand debuting a variety of new products, including air purifiers and even a full line of hair styling formulas. But harking back to its roots, Dyson is finishing off the year by launching a trio of floor cleaning products that it’s teased throughout 2025.

The first of the three is the Dyson PencilVac which was announced back in May 2025. Its slimmest cordless vacuum cleaner to date, it measures just 38mm in diameter and features a smaller yet faster version of the Dyson Hyperdymium 140k motor.

The Dyson PencilVac has the brand’s first conical brush bar cleaner head which offers up to 14,000RPM of high suction power. The brush bar has four fluffy cones which eject hair and dirt to prevent tangles, and the entire head swivels in different directions to capture more dirt.

What I was most impressed with when I got to try the Dyson PencilVac was its dust compression system in the bin. As the Dyson PencilVac is very slim, you’d expect it to have a small dust bin but it’s actually very spacious. It uses air to squash dust and dirt to maximise the bin’s space, which then empties by depressing like a syringe.

The second launch is the Dyson Spot+Scrub AI Wet and Dry Robot Vacuum. Robot vacuum cleaners are an area that Dyson hasn’t massively ventured into compared to its other models but it has started to in recent years.

The last – and only other – robot model the brand launched was the Dyson 360 Vis Nav in 2024 which only offered vacuuming, but now, the Dyson Spot+Scrub vacuums and mops, and looks more like the robot vacuums you get on the market today.

The Dyson Spot+Scrub has a front facing camera that uses AI and LiDAR technology to map your home and detect over 200 objects. It also recognises different stains and will move itself back and forth over a stain or spill to ensure it cleans it up properly.

I got to see the Dyson Spot+Scrub at the Dyson Demo Store in Berlin during IFA 2025, and was immediately impressed by its new redesign. The self-cleaning wet roller has two water tanks and a 12-point hydration system that delivers fresh, heated water to your floors. If you ask me, the Dyson Spot+Scrub is definitely the product I’d buy from these new launches.

But that’s not to dismiss the third and final launch – the Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene Hard Floor Cleaner. Similar to the Dyson Wash G1, the Dyson Clean+Wash is a wet and dry cleaner that mops the floor using Dyson’s most absorbent roller yet, and picks up dirt in its debris tray.

The way the Dyson Clean+Wash differs from the Wash G1 is its water tanks. Where the Wash G1 had two separate clean and dirty water tanks on the front of the device, the Clean+Wash has a clean tank on the front and a dirty tank in the roller head.

These three Dyson floorcare launches are finally available to buy at Dyson. Both the PencilVac and Clean+Wash are priced at £429.99, while the Spot+Scrub costs £1,049.99.

Whilst Amazon Alexa will always be my favourite smart home ecosystem, I know I’m not the only one who’s found that connecting certain devices can be trickier than others. Sometimes it’s the Alexa app itself playing up, and other times it’s brands claiming to work with Alexa… but not really. Either way, it’s something to keep in mind.

Fridays are usually my work from home days, which means it’s the perfect time to tackle my review pile. My latest victim is the new Dyson Hot+Cool HF1, and as someone who loves secretly sleeping with a fan on, I knew I wanted it right next to my bed. That also meant connecting it to my Amazon Echo Spot so I could control it with my eyes half-shut, late at night or first thing in the morning.

That got me thinking, and whilst I was connecting it, I figured I’d share my own experience with you in case it comes in handy.

Why are Dyson devices different?

Unlike many devices that you can add directly in the Alexa app by searching for them, Dyson devices require logging into your Dyson account through the app. That means you need a Dyson account to control any of your devices remotely.

Some people might not love this – especially if you don’t plan on using an app with your Dyson products – but for me, it wasn’t an issue. My Dyson lineup isn’t huge, but I have the V16 Piston Animal, the Wash G1 and the Airwrap i.d. – all of which I enjoy using alongside the app. The app offers maintenance tips and cleaning advice for the vacuums, and provides personalised styling guidance based on my hair profile for the Airwrap.

How do I connect my devices up?

Since I already use the Dyson app regularly, connecting my account to Alexa was straightforward. In the Alexa app, all you do is press the + button to add a new device, search for your Dyson device, and you’ll be prompted to log in with your Dyson credentials. After that, everything happens automatically, and you’ll quickly be able to control your Dyson devices via Alexa voice commands or the Alexa app.

The Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 can also be controlled through the Dyson app, so you may have options depending on which product you're looking to connect.

Dyson has just upgraded its V8 cordless vacuum cleaner. The new Dyson V8 Cyclone comes with more suction power and a longer battery life than before, and it’s not priced too badly either.

The original Dyson V8 launched back in 2016 and was one of the earliest cordless vacuum cleaners from the brand. Since then, Dyson has gone on to create more models in the ‘V’ series, including the V11, V12 and V15 and has given the V8 a few redesigns and tweaks along the way.

Now, Dyson has re-engineered the V8 in the form of the new Dyson V8 Cyclone. Compared to the original V8, the Dyson V8 Cyclone has 30% more suction power and 50% longer runtime, as well as a simple one-button design.

The Dyson V8 Cyclone offers 150 air watts of suction and a powerful motor that spins at 110,000RPM. It picks up dirt, dust and other stubborn stains, and has a fully-sealed filtration system that traps 99.9% of particles to avoid releasing allergens and bacteria back into the air.

An issue some people had with older Dyson vacuum cleaners was its trigger design, which required constant pressure from users holding it down in order for it to operate. The original V8 had this, but the Dyson V8 Cyclone has Dyson’s new triggerless design which features a single button that controls its three power modes.

The Dyson V8 Cyclone comes with eco, medium and boost modes that are easy to click through and use different levels of power to clean up certain messes. Speaking of power, the Dyson V8 Cyclone comes with a 7-cell battery and a swappable battery pack for a long runtime of 60 minutes.

For easy clean-up, the Dyson V8 Cyclone has a 2.5-litre bin, and comes with a self-emptying docking station that can hold up to 60 days worth of dust. The Dyson V8 Cyclone also comes with multiple interchangeable accessories, including a crevice and mini motorised tool for tricky edges and furniture stains.

The Dyson V8 Cyclone is available now for £349.99.

If you’re looking for cheaper ways to beat the big chill this year, you might want to consider investing in a heater – specifically one of these three new launches from Dyson, Duux and DREO.

When the weather turns cold, a heater can keep your home warm and toasty. Compared to your boiler which is built into your home and controlled via a thermostat, a portable heater is more versatile, as you can wheel it into whatever room you want for direct, personal heat. With the cost of energy on the rise, a heater can also make a huge difference to your monthly bills.

With all this in mind, more and more brands have been launching heaters to fit this gap in the market. Companies like Dyson, Shark, Duux, Xiaomi and DREO have all launched new heaters this year, and I’ve rounded up the best three models that you should buy before the winter season hits.

1. Dyson Hot + Cool HF1

Amongst its many new product launches this year, Dyson has unveiled a new 2-in-1 heater and fan. Expected to launch in October 2025, the Dyson Hot + Cool HF1 has a bladeless design that’s fast, powerful and almost silent.

Designed for year-round use, the Dyson Hot + Cool HF1 provides hot and cold temperature relief, and uses a power dense heater element to quickly heat entire rooms evenly. The fan element has 10 speeds, while the heater can increase your room’s temperature by 35°.

With energy-saving in mind, the Dyson Hot + Cool HF1 has a built-in temperature sensor that maintains the temperature of the room when it reaches your preferred heat. Pricing is being kept under wraps, but we’re excited to see it in its glory when it launches soon.

2. Duux Threesixty Smart Fan Heater (Gen 2)

Duux’s new heater, the Threesixty Smart Fan Heater (Gen 2) builds off the success of its predecessor with a new upgraded design. It offers 360° heat distribution to fill whole rooms at a time, and three adjustable heat settings. Its built-in fan also powers the heating element to better spread warm air around the room.

The Duux Threesixty Smart Fan Heater (Gen 2)’s new design is compact, lightweight and minimalist, and comes in three matte colours. It’s small enough to fit into any room and is almost-silent so you can use it even while you sleep.

The Duux app connects to the Threesixty Smart Fan Heater (Gen 2) so you can control its modes and schedules, or use the controls on the front of the device. At £119.99, it’s surprisingly affordable and a great addition to your home for the colder months.

3. DREO Whole Room Heater 714S

Another launch expected to drop in October is the DREO Whole Room Heater 714S. While the Duux model was affordable, the DREO Whole Room Heater 714S is silly cheap at just £99 – but the price certainly doesn’t affect its quality.

The DREO Whole Room Heater 714S is powered by Hyperamics that spreads and oscillates heat widely and instantly. It also comes with an eco mode that automatically selects the right heat for the room you’re in so it’s not wasting excess energy.

With similar looks to that of a fan, the DREO Whole Room Heater 714S is small, compact and powerful with 2000 watts of power. It has three heat and three speed levels to choose from, and is easy to customise with the controls on the bottom of the device or its accompanying remote control.

For haircare fans, Dyson’s annual colourway drop is basically a tradition, even if the rest of the world might not agree. Earlier this year we got the much-loved Jasper Plum and Red Velvet, but now Dyson’s about to introduce something a little more festive.

Available from today, the new Amber Silk colourway mixes warm copper and burgundy with a hint of pale pink champagne. It’s rolling out across all the brand’s big hitters, including the brand-new Dyson Airwrap 2x Coanda and the Supersonic Nural.

Alongside the new colourway, Dyson has also introduced its first-ever formulation gift set. The Define & Refresh Gift Set includes the Omega Mini Leave-In Conditioning Spray (50ml) and the Chitosan Mini Multi-Use Styling Spray (50ml) and is priced at £41.99.

It caps off what’s been a huge year for the brand, from the launch of its Omega Nourishing range to new vacuum cleaners at IFA. With this festive lineup, it's clear that Dyson isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

While Dyson didn’t exhibit at IFA 2025, the brand was out in Berlin at the same time hosting its own event at its Demo Store. I was kindly invited to attend to see its latest launches in action, including its latest products within the cleaning, air treatment and hair styling space.

As expected with Dyson, its new vacuum cleaners definitely stole the show. Dyson has added to its cordless, robot and floor cleaner line-up with new innovations – and these are the three I loved the most.

1. Dyson V16 Piston Animal

Dubbed Dyson’s most powerful anti-tangle cordless vacuum cleaner yet, the Dyson V16 Piston Animal deep cleans across all floor types, thanks to its interchangeable heads. Powered by Dyson’s next-gen Hyperdymium 900W motor, the Dyson V16 Piston Animal has a strong suction that cleans up messes while staying completely detangled of pet and human hair.

What I was most impressed with when seeing the Dyson V16 Piston Animal was its adjustable suction. It has an All Floor Cones Sense cleaner head that detects the flooring and adjusts brush bar speed and suction to better tackle different floor types. The Dyson V16 Piston Animal also comes with an upgraded Submarine 2.0 wet roller head to mop up stains on hard wood floors.

A feature that also comes with the new Dyson PencilVac, the Dyson V16 Piston Animal has a new CleanCompaktor bin system which hygienically compresses dust and dirt so you don’t have to empty it as often. It looked a bit like a syringe when in action, and it ensures that the Dyson V16 Piston Animal holds up to 30 days of dirt before you have to empty it.

2. Dyson Spot+Scrub AI Robot Vacuum

Dyson has been a little slow when it comes to branching out into the field of robot vacuum cleaners, but its new Spot + Scrub AI Robot Vacuum might be its best model yet. Unlike the Dyson 360 Vis Nav which is a dry robot vacuum, the Dyson Spot + Scrub AI Robot Vacuum is designed for both wet and dry cleaning, and it looks more traditionally like the robot vacuums you see on the market.

The Dyson Spot + Scrub AI Robot Vacuum uses an AI-powered front facing camera and LiDAR technology for mapping and detecting over 200 objects. Its AI stain detection allows it to avoid or clean around obstacles and recognise different stains for more precise cleaning. It also moves itself back and forth over and over again until it cleans up stains and spills.

I really liked the design of the Dyson Spot + Scrub AI Robot Vacuum, especially regarding its water tanks and trays. It has a self-cleaning wet roller with a 12-point hydration system underneath, alongside two water tanks. While it can pick up dirt, the Dyson Spot + Scrub AI Robot Vacuum is primarily for wet cleaning which I thought was an interesting area for Dyson to tackle, plus it looked impressive as it zoomed around the Demo Store.

3. Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene

My favourite Dyson launch from the past couple years is the Dyson WashG1, its first wet floor cleaner. Now, the brand has developed another exciting wet and dry cleaner, the Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene.

The Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene looked similar to the WashG1, but I was surprised to see that the tanks are slightly different. The WashG1 has two separate water tanks – one clean and one dirty – while the Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene has one big clean water tank at the front and a dirty water tank that’s kept in the cleaner head.

This new design change is to ensure that only clean water touches the floors and helps prevent build up of dirt and bacteria within the pipes. Personally, I liked the WashG1 tanks, but the Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene does look a lot more compact, and it’s more lightweight at just 3.7kg.

While the Dyson V16 Piston Animal is already available to buy, the Dyson Spot + Scrub AI Robot Vacuum and the Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene aren’t expected to arrive until 2026.

Dyson is one of those brands that somehow keeps raising the bar, even when its previous release was already a hit. Somehow, it still manages it – and the new Dyson V16 Piston Animal cordless vacuum is a perfect example.

Officially unveiled today, the V16 Piston Animal is Dyson’s most powerful anti-tangle cordless vacuum yet, designed to deliver serious suction, smart performance and effortless maintenance. I was lucky enough to get my hands on it a few weeks ago, and I’ve been thoroughly impressed ever since.

Dyson V16 Piston Animal review: price and availability

The Dyson V16 Piston Animal is priced at £749.99/€849.99/$1,099.99 and is available now from Dyson’s online store and selected retailers, including John Lewis. There’s also a bundle option with a detail cleaning kit for a little extra.

For the first time, Dyson has also released a wet/dry cordless option – the Dyson V16 Piston Animal Submarine – which comes in at £899.99/€999.99/$1,299.99. Considering the older Dyson V15s Submarine Detect had an RRP of £799.99/€899.99/$999.99, that feels fairly reasonable.

Dyson V16 Piston Animal review: unboxing and set up

Inside the box, you’ll find four precision-engineered tools alongside the main body and tube. The All Floor Cones Sense cleaner head automatically adapts between hard floors and carpets and features a built-in laser to highlight dust in dark corners. Then there’s the combi tool, a crevice tool for those hard-to-reach spots, and the upgraded Hair Screw Tool 2.0 that detangles long and pet hair more efficiently than before.

You also get a wall mount and charger, which is handy for storage. However, I was disappointed the V16 can’t stand upright on its own, which isn’t ideal for renters or anyone who doesn't want to drill into walls.

You can also connect the vac to the MyDyson app for extra settings and real-time maintenance alerts, including filter cleaning reminders. Admittedly, I didn’t use the app much at first, but after adding Dyson’s WashG1 to my cleaning setup, I’ve found it far more useful to have everything in one place.

Dyson V16 Piston Animal review: design and features

At first glance, it’s obvious the Dyson V16 Piston Animal is a serious step up from any of Dyson’s previous cordless vacuum cleaners. Dyson’s been on a roll this year with updating a range of products, so it makes sense that the brand would give its vac lineup the same treatment.

The V16 Piston Animal is now Dyson’s most powerful anti-tangle cordless vacuum, powered by the new Dyson Hyperdymium 900W motor, which is 50% more power dense than its predecessor. That translates to a huge 315AW of suction, which is plenty if you’ve read my guide on the top things to look for in a cordless vacuum.

The new All Floor Cones Sense cleaner head has two brush bar cones that eject long hair straight into the bin as you clean, meaning users no longer have to wrestle with tangled brush bars. Considering that’s one of the biggest pain points with cordless vacuums, it’s great to see Dyson finally tackling it.

It’s also smarter than ever, automatically adjusting not just suction but brush bar speeds depending on the floor type. This means it will slow down on hard floors for gentler, quieter cleaning, and then ramp up on carpets for maximum lift.

Design wise, it keeps Dyson’s signature look but with a more refined finish. The LCD screen gives real-time feedback on what’s being captured, and there’s a quick-release cleaner head attachment system so you can switch tasks without bending down. This ended up being something I really liked about the V16, as it made it so easy to do a whole house clean.

One standout feature for me is the brand new CleanCompaktor bin. It compresses dust and debris to triple the capacity of a normal bin and, thanks to its clever self-wiping mechanism, empties without leaving dust or hair behind. I do have a few things to say about this, but more on that later.

Battery life is also nothing to complain about, and you'll get up to 70 minutes on a full charge. The vac itself weighs 3.5kg with the All Floor Cones Sense head attached, which isn't the lightest, but manageable for everyday use.

Dyson V16 Piston Animal review: performance

Whilst I haven’t tried too many of Dyson’s earlier vacuums, I have worked my way through plenty of cordless vacuums on the market, and the V16 is definitely up there with the very best. What makes it stand out are the unique touches, ranging from the clever CleanCompaktor bin to the All Floor Cones Sense cleaner head, and they're features you don’t often see elsewhere.

Now, if I could, I’d give the Dyson V16 Piston Animal 4.5 stars. However, since we don’t do half ratings at T3, four stars it is. That said, the positives massively outweigh the negatives – though I do think it’s worth flagging them so you know what to expect.

First off, the suction power is incredibly impressive. With 315AW, it handles just about anything you throw at it, but the real beauty is that you also don’t have to think about it. I absolutely love how the brush head automatically adjusts to whatever surface you’re cleaning, and it worked brilliantly for me every time.

Secondly, the All Floor Cones Sense cleaner head is wonderful. As someone with long hair, I know the pain of constantly unclogging vacuums, but this anti-hair technology is the best I’ve ever used. After nearly six weeks of testing, the brush head still looks like new, and I haven’t had to detangle or clean it once.

If I had to point out a weak spot, it’s to do with the CleanCompaktor bin. Don’t get me wrong, the compression works brilliantly and it’s a really smart addition, but the self-wiping mechanism didn’t quite live up to expectation. It wipes of course, but it still leaves a fair amount of residue behind, and whilst I wasn’t expecting it to be spotless, I was hoping for a bit more of a noticeable difference.

Aside from that – and the fact it can’t stand up on its own without the wall mount – this is about as close to a perfect cordless vacuum as you can get. It’s easily Dyson’s best yet, and if you’ve got the budget, I’d recommend it in a heartbeat.

Dyson V16 Piston Animal review: verdict

The Dyson V16 Piston Animal is easily Dyson’s most impressive cordless vacuum yet, combining incredible suction with smart features like the All Floor Cones Sense cleaner head and the CleanCompaktor bin. The design feels premium, the performance is consistently brilliant, and it’s packed with thoughtful details that make everyday cleaning easier. I did find myself wishing the bin’s self-wiping system was a little more effective and that it could stand up without the wall mount, but those are small gripes in comparison. If you’ve got the budget, this is the Dyson to buy.

Dyson V16 Piston Animal review: alternatives to consider

If you’re hunting for something even better than the Dyson V16 Piston Animal in terms of specs, you may struggle. The only one that comes close is the Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, which does outperform the V16 in suction and battery life, but the price is absolutely eye-watering. Still, it’s worth a look if you don’t mind splashing out.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Ultenic U20 is another recommendation. It’s not in the same league as Dyson’s latest models, but for under £200, it’s incredibly impressive. I also recently reviewed it, and it’s been really interesting comparing the V16 Piston Animal and the Ultenic side by side.

Dyson has announced many new products during IFA 2025, including its latest air purifier. The new Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact is inspired by a jet engine, and uses a new purification technology than Dyson’s other models – but it’ll be a while until you get your hands on it.

Dyson’s line-up of air purifiers are instantly recognisable, due to their looped, lollipop-like designs. But compared to its other purifiers, the Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact has a completely different design. It looks like a bullet, although it’s actually inspired by aviation.

The Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact has a jet engine-inspired design and high-velocity airflow. For whole room purification, the Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact measures 45cm x 23cm x 23cm and only weighs 3.5kg, yet it can fill a room up to 100m2.

Aside from its new looks, the Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact uses a new electrostatic HEPA filter and a HushJet Nozzle to capture particles. This is a marked shift away from Dyson’s Air Multiplier technology which is used in its fans and purifiers.

How the HushJet Nozzle works is it strongly projects air around the room using airflow amplification. This produces a high speed ‘jet’ of air that comes out more effectively with its sculptural nozzle shape that’s similar to a diffuser or concentrator you’d get on a hair dryer.

To improve the air quality of your room, the Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact’s filter captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. It also has a longer lasting filter lifespan of up to five years, and easily captures, traps and kills dirt, dust and allergens.

I got to see the Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact in an early showcase, and was surprised by how powerful it was while making little to no noise. It’s been engineered to work quietly using a star-shaped entrainment nozzle that reduces the noise made from the high-speed compressor.

The Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact can operate at 24dB when in sleep mode, and it also has a smart auto mode that uses sensors to adjust its power according to the air quality in your home.

As is the case with most of Dyson products, the Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact is compatible with the MyDyson app so you can monitor air quality, receive notifications and create schedules via your phone. It also comes with Alexa and Google voice controls.

Pricing for the Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact has yet to be announced, but we do know that it won’t be available to buy until 2026, so you’ll have to wait a while to get your hands on it.

Dyson fans could hardly believe it when the brand announced a brand new Airwrap – just a year after the launch of the Airwrap i.d. Considering the original first came out in 2018 and we had to wait six whole years for an update, getting two in the space of 12 months was an unexpected but brilliant surprise.

Here in the UK, we had to sit tight a little longer, but the wait is finally over...the Dyson Airwrap 2x Coanda is officially on sale.

This model is powered by Dyson’s fastest, most powerful haircare motor yet, the Hyperdymium 2, which delivers twice the air pressure for faster wrapping and drying. It’s also lighter and smaller in hand, making it a lot easier and comfier to use.

Dyson has also packed in smart sensors that adapt styling to your hair type and help maintain the tool over time. These work alongside the i.d. tech we saw last year, meaning salon-worthy results with less effort.

The new AirSmooth 2x attachment headlines the accessory lineup, but the new attachments only work with the Coanda 2x, not with the original Airwrap or Airwrap i.d.

The Dyson Airwrap 2x Coanda comes in two colourways – Ceramic Pink and Jasper Plum – and is priced at £579.99/$699. You can grab it now from Dyson’s online store.

Dyson really went all out this summer, dropping three beauty launches in just one month. For fans of the brand, it was a very exciting time, with a new Airwrap and brand new formulations making their debut.

Now, the big day has finally landed, and arguably Dyson’s most exciting beauty release yet is officially here. Meet the Dyson Omega Nourishing range, a luxury haircare line powered by sunflower oil grown and pressed on Dyson’s very own Lincolnshire farms. Pretty cool, right?

What's included in the range?

The lineup includes two products – a hydrating hair oil and an 8-in-1 leave-in conditioning spray. Together, they’re designed to detangle, protect against breakage, guard against heat and UV damage, and leave your hair soft, shiny and beautifully scented.

Packaging is as luxury as you’d expect. The hair oil comes in a sculpted heavyweight glass bottle, with Dyson recommending you apply it to damp or dry hair, focusing on mid-lengths and ends. The leave-in spray arrives in a custom bottle that transforms a gel-cream into a fine mist. It’s also refillable (like Dyson’s Chitosan bottles) and works just as well on wet or dry hair.

How much are we talking?

Both products are available to buy from today on Dyson’s website, with the leave-in spray priced at £59.99 and the hair oil at £45.99. US pricing is yet to be revealed.

A refill for the spray is listed at £49.99, although it’s not yet available to purchase – something we’re hoping will change quickly once people start getting their hands on the range.

I already own the Dyson Airwrap i.d. and use it all the time, but testing out the best Airwrap alternatives has become one of the most interesting parts of my job. Whilst certain big name brands have led the way, more and more are now stepping into the multi-styler space, and they’re getting impressively close.

The latest contender comes from Revamp, a brand already well-regarded for its best straighteners and best hair dryers. Its newest launch, the Revamp Curl Air Style 7-in-1 Ionic Air Styler, looks like its most serious attempt yet at taking on Dyson.

This all-in-one tool is built to handle everything from big, bouncy curls to sleek, polished finishes. At its core is a digital motor that spins at up to 110,000 rpm, delivering a powerful, controlled airflow of up to 150km/h. That means faster drying and styling, all without relying on extreme heat.

There are six attachments, including two 30mm barrels for curling in both directions, a blow-dry brush, a straight-and-shape paddle brush, a precision concentrator for fast drying, and a diffuser to enhance natural curls. It’s a familiar mix, but it covers all the essentials.

One clever touch is its flex design, meaning the device switches between a hair dryer and a multi-styler – something more reminiscent of Shark than Dyson. You also get four heat settings, three speeds, a cold shot, and a pause button to freeze airflow without disrupting your style. Practical extras like a 3-metre cable and storage bag round things off.

As for the price, the Curl Air Style comes in at £179.99 (around $250), and is available now at Boots and Very. That’s around £300 less than the Dyson Airwrap, making it one of the more affordable but still feature-rich rivals I’ve come across so far.

Dyson has just upgraded its best air purifiers with its most advanced filters yet – and they’re super cooling, too. The updated Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 and Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool PH2 De-Nox feature new carbon filtration technology that captures more odours and gases than before – here’s everything you need to know.

Dyson’s air treatment range is never simple – you might think you’re just getting a fan but in actuality, you’re getting a fan, purifier and dehumidifier in one! The same can be said for Dyson’s new purifiers, as the Purifier Humidify+Cool PH2 De-Nox is a purifier-fan hybrid, while the Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 acts as a purifier, fan and heater.

Starting with the new Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1, it’s based on the original design and functionality, but has a new activated carbon filter. The HEPA H13 filter traps 99.95% of particles, and is now enriched with Tris, a chemical that captures odours, gas and VOCs.

Aside from capturing and killing pollutants and bacteria, the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 uses Air Multiplier technology to expel over 290 litres of airflow per second to keep you nice and cool in the summer. But it’s still useful in the winter months, as it has ceramic plates that quickly heat the room it’s in – heating, cooling and purifying, what’s not to like, right?!

The second upgraded purifier is the Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool PH2 De-Nox, a somewhat updated version of the five-star Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool Formaldehyde. Similar to the Purifier Hot+Cool HP1, the Purifier Humidify+Cool PH2 De-Nox has a new K-Carbon filter that uses potassium carbonate to capture up to 50% more NO2 than before.

Unlike the Purifier Hot+Cool HP1, the Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool PH2 De-Nox doesn’t have heating plates, but it can purify, humidify and cool you down. It has a 5-litre tank that gives up to 36 hours of humidification without you having to constantly refill it. This not only improves the air quality in the room, but it works to protect your skin from pollutants.

Available now at Dyson, the Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 is priced at £549.99 and the Purifier Humidify+Cool PH2 De-Nox costs £699.99.

It’s not often you see a Dyson product discounted, especially on Amazon. So you can imagine my surprise when I spotted the best-selling Dyson V8 Advanced cordless vacuum going for over 30% off.

Normally priced at £329.99, it’s now just under £230, saving you a huge £130. There's no doubt it's one of Dyson’s older models, but it’s still sold directly by the retailer, which says a lot about how popular it remains.

One of the best things about the V8 is the range of attachments it comes with. You get a combination tool, crevice tool, and the main detangling floor head – basically, a solution for every surface in your home.

Under the hood, the V8’s motor spins at up to 110,000rpm, delivering powerful, fade-free suction. Its six-cell battery gives up to 40 minutes of runtime, with two power modes to switch between depending on the job.

It’s been an exceedingly hot summer, and while I love the warmer weather, I don’t think I would have made it through without the best fan at my side – or intensely blowing cold air into my face.

Having a fan or portable air conditioner in your home is a must when the temperatures sky rocket, but with so many brands and launches popping up every year, it can be hard to determine which fan will actually keep you cool, and which is best left on the shelf.

As a fan expert and someone who tests air treatment products for a living, I’ve rounded up the three best fan launches from 2025 that are cooling, well-designed and worth the price tag.

1. MeacoFan Sefte 8” Portable Air Circulator

Meaco really knows what it’s doing when it comes to fans and air circulators. Even at the height of this summer’s heatwaves, I only got up to level six and I was being absolutely battered with cold air, so the MeacoFan Sefte 8” Portable Air Circulator can easily get you through record high temperatures.

The MeacoFan Sefte 8” Portable Air Circulator can be used corded or cordless so you can take it with you anywhere, including indoors and outdoors. It has a clear LCD screen with touch controls, or you can use the accompanying remote which has a long-lasting, rechargeable battery.

Out of all the fan launches from 2025, the MeacoFan Sefte 8” Portable Air Circulator is the one to beat.

2. Dyson Cool CF1

Another recognisable fan manufacturer, Dyson is most well known for its bladeless, loop-like designs, and the new Dyson Cool CF1 is no exception. The Dyson Cool CF1 is a revival of Dyson’s original bladeless fan that debuted back in 2009, but this new version has been given some serious upgrades – as you can see in my Dyson Cool CF1 review.

The Dyson Cool CF1 is incredibly lightweight and small, but it certainly packs a (cooling) punch. Dyson has kept things simple on the control panel of the Dyson Cool CF1, only featuring buttons, a screen and a remote control, so it’s kept things simple and focused on the cooling properties.

Speaking of which, the Dyson Cool CF1 has 10 fan speeds and a night mode that drops the noise down while still giving you a refreshing breeze while you sleep. It’s not cordless but it does come with a long cable that extends its range, and you can manually twist and turn the Dyson Cool CF1 to point in the direction you want.

3. Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo

Not one to be left out, Shark’s range of fans are truly impressive, and its portable and misting designs have surged in popularity. Building off the success of its original FlexBreeze fan that launched in 2024, Shark debuted a mini, personal version in 2025 called the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo.

Weighing just 1.77kg, the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo has five fan speeds, different breeze modes and up to 12 hours of battery life, thanks to its cordless battery. While the speeds options are less than the Meaco and Dyson, the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo comes with a handy misting feature that our reviewer, Max Slater-Robins couldn’t get enough of – which is why he gave it five stars in his Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo review.

With its 150ml water tank, the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo releases continuous and pulsed mist to help cool you down on the hottest of days. It doesn’t leave you or your furniture feeling damp, but adds extra comfort whether you’re outside or inside.

If there’s one thing we can say for sure right now, it’s that Dyson is completely spoiling us. First came the upgraded Coanda 2x Airwrap, followed closely by the brand’s first-ever multi-use styling spray. Now, a whole new haircare range has just arrived – that’s three launches in just over a month!

The latest drop is the Dyson Omega Nourishing range, a luxury haircare line powered by sunflower oil pressed from Dyson’s very own Lincolnshire farms. This is Dyson’s second foray into haircare after its Chitosan range – which now has three products of its own. Like its predecessor, Omega leans into natural ingredients, but this time it's gone one step further by sourcing them straight from Dyson Farms.

Featuring a nourishing blend of sunflower, olive, corn, avocado, abyssinian, sesame and macadamia oils, the range is designed to work across all hair types by boosting softness, shine and moisture. The sunflower's lightweight molecular structure also means it can absorb quickly without causing build-up.

Packaging-wise, the hydrating oil comes in a sculpted, heavyweight glass bottle, and Dyson recommends applying it to damp or dry hair, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. The leave-in spray uses a custom-designed bottle that transforms a gel-cream into a fine mist. It’s refillable (like the Chitosan bottles) and can be applied to wet or dry hair.

The UK is facing more frequent and intense heatwaves, exemplified by the extreme heat over the past few months of 2025, with very high temperatures in London and many other parts of the country.

When it's too hot to sleep, work, study, and generally just live, having the best fan is more than an accessory – it's a crucial survival tool that can make all the difference and cut room temperatures by multiple degrees.

But with so many types of fans available, from tower to portable to purifying, which is actually the best to cool you down and manage a UK heatwave? I'm taking a look at some of the main options, like the Meaco Sefte 10” Air Circulator.

For many people, having air conditioning – and even a portable AC unit – isn't realistic, and so a quality fan is the next best thing. Let's dive in.

Why are UK homes so hot?

If you’ve ever felt like your home turns into a greenhouse the moment the sun comes out, you’re not imagining it. Most UK houses are built to trap warmth – great news in winter, not so helpful during a 30°C heatwave.

Double glazing, loft insulation, and solid brickwork all do a brilliant job of keeping heat in, but there’s usually not much in the way of ventilation to let it escape.

What types of fans are available?

When it comes to beating the heat, not all fans go about it the same way. From towering air blasters to pint-sized desk units, the right fan for you depends on your space, budget, and how much cooling power you actually need.

Tower fans are a popular pick for a reason. Tall, slim, and designed to tuck neatly into corners, they tend to offer wide airflow coverage with multiple speed settings and oscillation. The Dreo 42-inch Tower Fan is a great example – powerful, quiet, and smart-enabled for easy controls.

Air circulators and pedestal fans, like the MeacoFan 1056 or more compact SEFTE 10”, focus less on cooling a specific spot and more on shifting the whole room’s air. They’re surprisingly efficient, especially in stuffy bedrooms or living rooms.

Desk or table fans – such as the Duux Globe or Honeywell TurboForce – are ideal for personal cooling. Whether you’re working from home or trying to sleep, these compact fans can deliver a direct breeze without taking over your space.

On top of these categories, there are the more versatile options. The Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo is a portable, battery-powered fan that works just as well indoors as it does on a sweltering balcony – and the optional misting mode adds a refreshing edge.

On the premium end, air purifying fans like the Dyson Pure Cool or Pure Cool Me combine decent airflow with HEPA filtration, helping clear pollen, dust, and pet dander from your space. Plus, they have the signature Dyson design.

What to look for in a heatwave fan

Not every fan is cut out for the kind of hot, heavy air we get during UK heatwaves.

When the temperature indoors hits the high 20s and your windows are doing more harm than good, you need a fan that does more than just shuffle warm air around the room.

Which type of fan should you buy?

Choosing the right fan isn’t just about size or price – it’s about how you want to use it when the temperature spikes.

If you need something to cool down a large living room, tower fans are a solid choice. They’re slim, stylish, and move plenty of air with wide oscillation, making them ideal for shared spaces.

For bedrooms, air circulators come into their own. They’re quieter, more efficient, and designed to keep air moving throughout the room rather than just blasting it in one direction.

If you’re short on space or just want something for personal use, desk and table fans are compact but surprisingly powerful. Some are designed with work-from-home setups in mind, while others, like turbo fans, are built for brute-force cooling in smaller areas.

Want something more flexible? Portable and misting fans offer cooling you can take outside or move between rooms – ideal during stuffy afternoons or sticky nights. And if clean air matters as much as cool air, purifying fans add HEPA filtration to the mix.

The beauty world barely had time to catch its breath when Dyson expanded into haircare formulas following incredible success of its best-selling styling tools. However, the move soon made perfect sense, and the Chitosan Pre-Style Cream and Post-Style Serum were welcomed with open arms.

Now, Dyson is adding to its lineup with the new Dyson Chitosan multi-use styling spray, designed to repair, smooth and soften hair. It’s suitable for all hair types but is particularly effective at reviving wavy, curly and coily textures.

The spray joins the Chitosan range in August, with the full-size bottle (165ml) priced at £62.99 and a refill option available for £54.99. US pricing is yet to be announced.

The launch comes just weeks after Dyson introduced its latest Airwrap model, the Coanda 2x. Like the tool, the new spray aims to raise the bar in a crowded market, delivering results without the damage often caused by excess heat or product buildup.

Powered by chitosan – a complex macromolecule derived from oyster mushrooms – and engineered with Dyson’s Triodetic technology, the formula takes a different approach from traditional styling products. Instead of stiff polymers, it creates a lightweight network of bonds that help hold shape and texture without crunch or stickiness.

For best results, Dyson recommends using the Pre-Style Cream on towel-dried hair before styling to prime, condition and hold. The Post-Style Serum will then add definition and hydration once hair is styled, and the styling spray completes the routine by reviving, resetting and finishing the look with movement and shine.

Now that Dyson has pretty much cemented its place as a leader in the best cordless vacuum cleaner world, it’s no real surprise the brand has expanded into floor care formulas. After the recent success of the Dyson V15s Detect Submarine and, more recently, the WashG1, a product designed to work alongside them made perfect sense. Before I knew it, I had one in my hands ready to test.

When a brand releases a product made to work exclusively with its own tech, I’m usually a little sceptical. Most of the time, you can swap in a cheaper alternative and barely notice the difference. However, Dyson’s new cleaning solution doesn’t feel like a standard formula with a premium label slapped on top. The way it’s made – and how it’s designed to be used – is pretty unique.

Officially named the Dyson O2 Probiotic Hard Floor Cleaning Solution, it might have you raising an eyebrow at the word “probiotic”– but that’s where things get interesting. The formula contains 250 billion live microorganisms that actively break down dirt, grime and grease without any harsh chemicals, proving to be safe and effective at the same time.

The bottle itself is a generous 500ml and lasts for a surprisingly long time. You only need 20ml per clean when using the WashG1 or 10ml with the Submarine, and there’s a handy measuring cap to keep things simple. The bottle is finished in Dyson’s signature colours, so it feels like it belongs with the rest of the kit.

I used the solution with the WashG1, adding 20ml into the clean water tank with some slightly warm water. The scent hits you right away – it’s fresh and light but doesn’t smell like a typical cleaning product, which I really liked. It's designed to beat all kinds odours inside and outside the machine, breaking down the kinds of contaminants that plain water just can’t deal with.

I was also impressed with how smooth the solution was to use, and there wasn't any foaming or streaks to moan about. What really convinced me, though, was the state of the dirty water tank afterward. As a quick comparison, I’d used the WashG1 a few days earlier with just plain water. The results were decent, but the dirty water tank was nowhere near as murky as it was after using the Dyson O2. It clearly lifted far more grime the second time around – and for the record, I didn’t have a parade of elephants traipsing through the house in between.

After the clean, I found out the solution also helps during the self-clean cycle. It works through internal pipes, tanks and rollers to reduce grime build-up, so not only are you cleaning your floors better, but your machine’s getting a deeper clean too.

Clearly, I’m not the only one who’s impressed, as the Dyson O2 is currently sold out on Dyson’s online store and most other retailers. However, I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t go looking, so I've found it still in stock at Stellisons (£19.99) and Fortuna Jersey (£17.95.)

It’s also picked up some strong reviews across the board, so hopefully Dyson will restock soon – I’m already wondering what I’ll do when I get to the bottom of the bottle.

The upcoming Dyson PencilVac actually got me excited to clean – but my favourite feature of the new vacuum certainly surprised me.

The Dyson PencilVac was announced in May 2025, the brand’s slimmest vacuum cleaner yet. Featuring a new motor and a smaller size overall, the Dyson PencilVac marked a number of firsts for Dyson, and while a launch date is still being kept quiet, I recently got to visit the Dyson Offices to try the new vacuum myself.

Despite being told it was the slimmest vacuum cleaner Dyson has developed, I was still surprised by how slim and small it was. The Dyson PencilVac differs in many ways from other best Dyson vacuum cleaners, as it doesn’t actually have a handle. I found the lack of handle a little odd but it was actually comfortable to hold and move across floors.

Measuring just 38mm in diameter, the Dyson PencilVac was nicely lightweight and it didn’t feel like I was pushing or pulling too hard to move the cordless vacuum cleaner around. In fact, it glided over hardwood floors which is what the Dyson PencilVac is specifically designed to do, as it’s dubbed as a hardwood floor vacuum.

As mentioned, Dyson has given the Dyson PencilVac plenty of new additions, including its motor. The redesigned Dyson Hyperdymium 140k motor is incredibly small and measures just 28mm in diameter. It fits within the handle of the Dyson PencilVac, and is the brand’s fastest vacuum motor yet.

The motor was definitely a surprise as it fit easily in the palm of my hand. Despite its size, the Dyson PencilVac offers up to 14,000 RPM of suction power and it can run for up to 60 minutes on one charge.

Another new or first from Dyson is its first conical brush bar cleaner head. I got to see the brush head of the Dyson PencilVac up close, and the four fluffy cones are extremely clever as they work to eject hair and other debris so they don’t tangle.

When the brush head cleans the floors, hair and other bits fall off the side of the brushes and go into the vacuum’s bin rather than be spat back out the vacuum, or obstructing the head. The cones themselves were extremely fluffy to the touch, and easy to detach and reattach from the head to clean them.

But the feature I loved the most while trying the Dyson PencilVac was its emptying system. As the Dyson PencilVac is quite slim, it can only get so much into the bin – or so I thought. The bin has a dust compression system which uses air to squash dust and dirt to maximise the bin’s space.

The most impressive part of the bin is once it gets full, you can empty it like you would depress a syringe. This allows for easier emptying and less mess, but if you do leave dirt in it for a while, the Dyson PencilVac does have a filtration system that ensures dust and dirt isn’t released back into the air in your home.

While cleaning the Dyson Offices floors using the Dyson PencilVac, I loved how it moved so smoothly around the floor. The head swiveled every which way and had lights from all angles so it still illuminated the floor without the head having to be facing straight ahead.

I enjoyed seeing the Dyson PencilVac in action, and think it’d be a great additional vacuum in my house. My home has a mixture of hardwood floors and carpet, so the Dyson PencilVac would be a good extra cleaning device to tackle those floor types. Its slim size and battery is also geared towards smaller homes and flats so it definitely fills a gap in the market – although carpet owners won’t get to take advantage of its cleaning power.

Pricing and availability is still under wraps, although there is talk that the Dyson PencilVac will officially launch in 2026 – and I can’t wait until it happens.

The Dyson Airwrap has long reigned as the queen of hair tools – and that was before the recent launch of its smarter upgrade, the Airwrap i.d. In recent years, the brand has been on a roll with haircare innovation – and now it's just dropped yet another Airwrap, only 10 months after the last model was announced.

Now, if you’re as into haircare as I am, you might’ve already heard whispers online about a new Dyson Airwrap on the horizon. This is mostly because a new model was launched in Korea a few months ago, with creators like @milktea.meg sharing early sneak peeks. Take a look at her video below:

Listed as the Coanda 2x, it looks pretty similar to the Airwrap i.d., but dig a little deeper and you’ll find some pretty major upgrades. For starters, it’s powered by Dyson’s fastest and most powerful haircare motor yet, the Hyperdymium 2. It delivers twice the air pressure, meaning it wraps and dries hair faster than before. It's also smaller and lighter in the hand, making it easier to control and more comfortable to use.

Dyson has also embedded sensors in the Coanda 2x that help tailor your styling based on your hair and maintain the tool without much effort. These sensors work alongside the i.d. technology we saw in the last model, meaning you can get salon-worthy results with minimal effort.

Finally, we have a new straightening attachment – the AirSmooth 2x. Now, I kind of saw this coming. After Shark dropped a straightening attachment for its FlexFusion earlier this year, it felt like it was only a matter of time before Dyson clapped back.

Now, if you're wondering how I managed to get my hands on it before everyone else, I was actually in Korea last week and popped into a Dyson store to see it for myself. It was definitely lighter in the hand and easier to hold, but for me, the new AirSmooth 2x stole the show.

As someone who swears by both the Airwrap i.d. and the Airstrait, the idea of being able to curl, wave, dry and straighten my hair with a single tool feels like a total game-changer. I also loved that the new AirSmooth 2x attachment does the hard work for you, automatically clamping onto your hair, sensing the strand, gliding smoothly down, and then unclamping once you’ve reached the end.

Aside from the AirSmooth 2x, most of the other tools look similar to what you get with the Airwrap i.d. – though they’ve all been renamed with “2x” which suggests they’ll only work with this new model. Unfortunately, that means if you want the straightening attachment, you won’t be able to buy it separately to use with your current Airwrap. This is slightly annoying, but this is Dyson we’re talking about, and it’s going to fly off shelves either way. The attachments you get will also vary depending on whether you go for the Straight + Wavy set or the Curly + Coily set, so keep that in mind before buying.

The Dyson Airwrap Coanda 2x will be available in two colourways – Ceramic Pink and Jasper Plum – and will launch this September for £579.99. US pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but I’ll keep you posted when it drops.

If you live in the UK like me, chances are you’re so used to the weather being cold and miserable that as soon as the sun makes an appearance, you scramble to find the best fan to cool you down. Alongside the likes of Meaco and Duux, Dyson has become a popular fan and air treatment brand, and it’s well known for its unique, bladeless and circular fan styles.

In May 2025, Dyson announced its latest fan, the Dyson Cool CF1. The new Dyson fan is actually a revival of the brand’s original, first-ever bladeless fan from 2009, except the new Dyson Cool CF1 has been given some serious cooling upgrades.

I’ve been using the Dyson Cool CF1 fan for the past few weeks, and it has most definitely come in handy with the recent heatwaves that the UK has been experiencing. While there’s a couple areas where the Dyson Cool CF1 falls short, it more than makes up for it with its design, technology and controls – here’s my thoughts.

Dyson Cool CF1 review: price and availability

The Dyson Cool CF1 is available to buy for £249.99 at Dyson and select retailers, like John Lewis, AO.com and Argos. It’s available in a white/silver colourway. As of writing, the Dyson Cool CF1 is not yet available in the US.

Dyson Cool CF1 review: unboxing and set-up

The Dyson Cool CF1 arrived in a large cardboard box which included the Dyson Cool CF1 fan and its remote – that’s it!

Sitting at 550mm high, I was surprised by how lightweight the Dyson Cool CF1 was when I took it out of the box, and really enjoyed it during testing when I carried the fan with me from room to room. The cord of the Dyson Cool CF1 measures 1.8m in length so it has a good amount of reach in small-medium sized rooms.

There’s not much set-up required, as you simply plug the Dyson Cool CF1 into the mains and it’s ready to go. While Dyson does have its MyDyson app, the Dyson Cool CF1 doesn’t have smart controls so it doesn’t need to be connected to it – and as far as I could see from the instructions and website, the Dyson Cool CF1 wasn’t available on the app, either.

Dyson Cool CF1 review: design and features

As mentioned above, the Dyson Cool CF1 is a new and upgraded version of Dyson’s original bladeless fan, but it’s more energy efficient, and has better cooling technology. With 30 watts of power, the Dyson Cool CF1 uses Dyson’s patented Air Multiplier technology to expel 370 litres of airflow per second into each stream to offer a consistent breeze and cooling sensation.

The Dyson Cool CF1 has 10 fan speeds to choose from, and it comes with Sleep mode which uses Dyson’s silencing technology to drop the noise of the fan down to just 29dB. The Dyson Cool CF1 also comes with timers that start from 30 minutes and go up to eight hours, and oscillation settings which vary from 15, 40 and 70 degrees.

The Dyson Cool CF1 has an oversized, circular lollipop-like design. The centre of the fan is completely bladeless which makes it much safer and more hygienic to use. At the base of the Dyson Cool CF1 is an LCD screen which displays all your settings, modes and timers.

While the Dyson Cool CF1 comes with a remote that lets you turn the fan on/off, change fan speed, set timers, oscillation and night mode, the base of the fan also has manual buttons that you can twist and press to customise it. You can also twist the base to change the fan’s direction rather than shifting the entire fan or using the oscillation.

Dyson Cool CF1 review: performance

I’ve tried my fair share of Dyson fans, including the Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde, and the Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool Formaldehyde which I currently have in my house. While I gave both of these gadgets five stars, I did find them to be quite big, so I was excited to try the Dyson Cool CF1 with its compact size and simple fan settings.

I was impressed by the Dyson Cool CF1’s powerful airflow. While it’s a small fan compared to the others I’ve tried, it’s definitely got some oomph to it, as it creates a strong breeze when at its highest setting which could easily cool down bigger rooms and homes. Despite its power, the Dyson Cool CF1 was extremely lightweight which I was surprised by and definitely took full advantage of, as I carried it around my house with me to plug it into different rooms during a heatwave.

The overall design of the Dyson Cool CF1 is unique and might not be to everyone’s tastes, but I personally like the look of it. I also liked how the design could be manually customised via the turnable base and the manual controls, as well as the magnetic remote control which fit on top of the fan when not in use.

The LCD screen of the Dyson Cool CF1 is simple yet tells you all the information you need to know. I did find the occasional lag between clicking the remote and it showing up on the fan screen, although the actual control changes kicked in quickly when I selected it.

There was a great amount of fan speeds to choose from, and the night mode option was definitely helpful during hot summer nights. It wasn’t too loud at all, but one thing I did notice was that the Dyson Cool CF1 made a few questionable noises during the first few uses. It had a strange tinkering noise when it was at the medium to higher speeds, and a creaking whirring sound when it would turn.

Speaking of turning, the oscillation of the Dyson Cool CF1 was versatile, and I enjoyed being able to manually twist the fan at its base to change the direction of the fan. Overall, Dyson has thought of everything with the new Dyson Cool CF1, and it definitely became my best friend during the scorching heat the UK was experiencing during my testing.

Dyson Cool CF1 review: verdict

The bladeless design of the Dyson Cool CF1 just can’t be beat – it’s lightweight, powerful, safe and hygienic, and it offers powerful, customisable airflow that keeps you cool and relaxed. While it’s quiet in action, the Dyson Cool CF1 does have the occasional odd sound, but the night mode makes the fan as quiet as you’d want it to be while you’re trying to sleep.

If you’re looking for a bedtime or desktop fan, or even just a small-medium fan for a medium-sized house, the Dyson Cool CF1 is a great choice. At £250, it might be expensive for smaller budgets, but I’ve always found Dyson to be very reliable and high quality – I’ve had my other Dyson fans for years and they’ve yet to let me down, so I can see the same happening with the Dyson Cool CF1.

Dyson Cool CF1 review: alternatives to consider

If you’re a Dyson fan… uhh.. fan, the Dyson Cool Tower Fan (AM07) has a similar design and price tag to the Dyson Cool CF1. As a tower fan, it’s much taller and has good oscillation and power to keep you cool and comfortable.

Dyson’s most prominent competitor, Shark’s FlexBreeze Fan has the same kind of size as the Dyson Cool CF1, and it has plenty of versatile controls to play with, including misting and converting it from portable to tower and back again.

Trying out hair styling tools is still one of my all-time favourite parts of the job, and not just because I’m constantly on the hunt for the best one. Over the past few years, we’ve seen some seriously impressive newcomers hit the market, most of them clearly by the original Dyson Airwrap first launched in 2018.

Fast forward almost six years, and Dyson has finally unveiled a major upgrade – and let me tell you, the game has officially changed. The Dyson Airwrap i.d. is the brand’s first-ever connected hair tool, and yes, it’s every bit as smart as it sounds.

Dyson Airwrap i.d. review: price and availability

The Airwrap i.d. comes in at a whopping £479.99/$599.99, which makes it the most expensive hair styler on the market right now. However, before you gasp too loudly, it's worth noting that it reflects two things: the Dyson brand, and the impressive functionality it offers – which I’ll get into shortly.

There are two configurations depending on your hair type. The Straight & Wavy options comes with a larger barrel and a soft smoothing brush, and the Curly & Coily includes a diffuser and a conical barrel designed specifically for textured hair.

Dyson also offers the Airwrap i.d. in several colourways, including Ceramic Patina & Topaz, Vinca Blue & Topaz, and the hugely popular Strawberry Bronze & Blush Pink. I’ve been testing the Jasper Plum version, and I think it's my favourite so far.

Dyson Airwrap i.d. review: design and features

The Dyson Airwrap i.d. has had a major design upgrade from the original model. It’s a lot sleeker and now comes with a premium matte finish, and it's almost 1kg lighter as well.

However, the real game-changer is the i.d. curl technology. Syncing with the MyDyson app, it customises each styling sequence depending on your hair type and goals. If you’re not confident in your technique or just want styling to be a bit more foolproof, this is a dream come true.

The controls are simple, and the three sliding buttons (heat, airflow and power/i.d. mode) are positioned smartly near the top, so you won’t accidentally change them mid-style.

Dyson’s Intelligent Heat Control checks the temperature 40 times per second, so you never go above 150°C. This means less damage and better long-term results, especially helpful if you style regularly. The app even tailors heat settings in real-time based on your hair profile.

Other handy features include cool-touch tips for safe barrel changes, a lengthy cord and a power button lock to avoid any annoying mid-style shutoffs.

Dyson Airwrap i.d. review: attachments

The Dyson Airwrap i.d. Straight & Wavy is designed to help you nail volume, smoothness, curls or waves, and the attachments in this version are specifically made to make that happen.

For starters, it comes with two barrels. The 30mm Canonical Barrel has a tapered end that's perfect for creating tighter curls, and the 40mm Long Barrel is ideal for soft, loose curls with a bouncier finish.

Both barrels feature a Direction Control Switch, so you can just flick it to swap curling directions depending on which side of your face you're styling.

There’s also the Coanda Smoothing Dryer, which is great for rough-drying before you start styling mode, and for smoothing down flyaways when you're done.

Then there's the Fast Dryer, which does exactly what it says on the box. I tend to reach for this one when I’m fresh out the shower and just need to blast my hair dry before bed.

Brush-wise, the Soft Smoothing Brush is ideal if you want a sleek look without sacrificing volume, straightening gently whilst keeping your natural bounce.

The Round Volumising Brush, on the other hand, gives that blowdry root lift and shape, and I’ve been using it constantly when I need to look half-presentable but only have five minutes.

Dyson Airwrap i.d. review: performance

Using the Dyson Airwrap i.d. has honestly been a bit of a game-changer and it’s become one of those tools I now can’t imagine my routine without. It’s quietly replaced almost every other styler I used to keep on my dressing table – though the Dyson Airstrait still has a place (for now).

Setting up the MyDyson app was super simple, and it only took a minute or so to create my hair profile. Once that was done, I felt confident that the tool knew what it was doing with my hair, and I even started picking up techniques I’d never used before, just from following the i.d. technology prompts.

That said, I’ll admit I usually save the full i.d. sequence for when I’ve got time to spare. It does take a little bit of time, especially when you're first adjusting.

As for the attachments, they all clip on super easily. Of course, I’ve got my go-tos – like the round volumising brush I mentioned – but every one of them has its place. There isn't a single one I haven't used, which is probably the first time that's ever happened.

When it comes to results, I’ve genuinely been really impressed. If you’ve got fine hair like me, you’ll probably find that the curls do start to drop after a few hours, and they’re not as long-lasting as what you’d get from a traditional curling tong. However, using a tool like the Airwrap i.d. is so much gentler on your hair, so it really comes down to what your priorities are.

That said, I did notice that the curls lasted noticeably longer than they have with other similar multi-stylers I’ve tried, and I’m putting that down to the i.d. technology. Check out my video below to see the Airwrap i.d. in action:

Overall, the Dyson Airwrap i.d. has seriously raised the bar for what a styling tool can do. It’s beautifully designed, lighter than the original, and packed with genuinely clever features that make styling feel easier, smarter and lots more personalised. The i.d. technology is a total game-changer, especially if you’re someone who wants a bit of extra guidance when it comes to technique or choosing the right settings for your hair.

The attachments are intuitive to use and offer loads of versatility, whether you're after volume, bounce, waves or a sleek finish. I won’t pretend it’s my go-to when I’m in a rush, but for those slower, more luxurious get-ready moments, it absolutely shines. For me, it’s earned its permanent spot on my dressing table.

Dyson Airwrap i.d. review: alternatives to consider

If I'm being honest, there’s not much on the market right now that competes with Dyson i.d. at this level. I do have a list of the best alternatives to the original Airwrap, but when it comes to the i.d. tech specifically, this tool is still in a league of its own.

That said, a couple of contenders do stand out. The Shark FlexStyle is a great example, and it has similar attachments and costs nearly half the price, though you don’t get the same advanced smart features.

Another one worth a look is the Bellissima Italia Prodigy Air Styler. It includes six attachments and they all have a ceramic coating to help avoid overheating. It even looks pretty premium, just like the Airwrap i.d.

Dyson has reinvented its original bladeless fan design with an entirely new and upgraded model. The Dyson Cool CF1 fan is smarter and more energy efficient than its predecessor, and comes with upgraded cooling technology and modes – here’s everything you need to know.

Despite making a name for itself in the world of vacuum cleaners, Dyson has become one of the most recognisable fan brands, mainly due to its innovative designs. Case in point: the brand launched its first-ever bladeless Dyson fan in 2009 which removed traditional blades and introduced a new type of airflow and cooling.

Now, Dyson is reviving its original bladeless fan with the new Dyson Cool CF1, featuring improved technology and smart features. Available in white/silver, the Dyson Cool CF1 looks like an oversized lollipop with its wide circular design.

As a bladeless fan, the centre of the Dyson Cool CF1 is safer than other fans as it lacks fast-spinning blades and expels a smoother and stronger air flow. The base of the Dyson Cool CF1 has an LCD screen that displays the airflow settings and power modes, and allows you to set timers to keep your energy costs down.

The Dyson Cool CF1 uses Dyson’s patented Air Multiplier technology which you can find in most of its fans and air purifiers. This technology expels 370 litres of airflow per second in a powerful and smooth stream, so it’s not choppy and instead offers a consistent and cooling breeze.

Dyson has given the Cool CF1 10 fan speeds to play with and it has improved oscillation settings to better fill the room. While it works hard to cool your home, the Dyson Cool CF1 has a brushless DC motor that uses 30 watts of power maximum to use less energy.

Another notable new feature is the new Sleep mode. While the Dyson Cool CF1 already has silencing technology to make the fan as quiet as possible, the sleep mode is even quieter at 29dB and has a customisable sleep timer that adjusts its speed and dims the display.

I’ve tried plenty of Dyson fans and currently have two in my home. I’m a huge fan – pun not intended – of them as they offer a much more consistent airflow and cooling experience. However, the models I’ve tested so far have been quite big, so I’m excited to get my hands on the Dyson Cool CF1 and see how it’ll get me through any upcoming summer heatwaves.

Dyson has just announced a new cordless vacuum cleaner, and it’s expected to be the brand’s slimmest and faster model yet. Aptly named the Dyson PencilVac, the vacuum has a 38mm diameter and a new version of the Dyson Hyperdymium 140k motor to make it faster than ever before.

The past couple of years have been filled with exciting Dyson launches, including the Dyson WashG1, its first-ever wet floor cleaner, and the Dyson Car+Boat, its newest handheld vacuum for… you guessed it… cars and boats! Now with its latest announcement, it seems Dyson is going for another big ‘first’, and this time, it’s with the world’s slimmest vacuum cleaner.

The Dyson PencilVac measures just 38mm in diameter, making it extremely slim, lightweight and easy to maneuver around your house. To get underneath furniture, it can also flatten to just 95mm to lay on the ground and reach narrow gaps and hard-to-reach areas.

Due to its slimness, the Dyson PencilVac has a redesigned Dyson Hyperdymium 140k motor, its smallest and fastest vacuum motor yet – Dyson is really going for the ‘firsts’ with this new model. The motor measures 28mm in diameter cleverly fits into the Dyson PencilVac’s handle, but despite its small size, it offers up to 14,000RPM of high suction power.

Another new addition to the new Dyson vacuum cleaner is the brand’s first conical brush bar cleaner head. The brush bar features four fluffy cones in the head which work to eject hair to prevent tangling, and has a front and rear which spins in different directions for a more effective clean.

As the Dyson PencilVac is so small, you might be wondering how much it can actually pick-up. But Dyson has thought of that too, and has developed a new dust compression system which squashes dust using air to take full advantage of the bin’s capacity. It also has a new filtration system that captures 99.99% of particles, and separates dust and dirt from the airflow so it’s not being expelled back into your home.

As a cordless model, the Dyson PencilVac has a magnetic charging dock and a swappable battery pack which offers up to 60 minutes of power. Yet another first, Dyson states that the Dyson PencilVac is its ‘first connected cordless vacuum’ as it connects to the MyDyson app for additional settings and control.

Despite being announced now, the Dyson Pencil Vac is expected to launch in 2026. This predicted launch date also means pricing hasn’t been announced yet, so we’ll just have to wait to find out.

There’s no doubt that Dyson totally changed the haircare game with the launch of the original Airwrap back in 2018. It made such a splash that plenty of brands have tried to replicate its magic ever since, with some models – including the Shark FlexStyle – providing some pretty serious competition.

The latest brand to throw its hat into the ring is Dreame – yes, the same Dreame known for making some of the best robot vacuum cleaners around. If you’ve read any of my reviews before, you’ll know I love it when a vacuum brand dabbles in haircare. They often bring surprisingly strong specs to the table, and I’m particularly impressed with the new Dreame AirStyle Pro.

You’ll get two 32mm Auto-Wrap Barrels, as well as a fast dryer, round volumising brush, soft smoothing brush, hard smoothing brush and a flyaway attachment. It's essentially a full lineup that mirrors all the key tools included with Dyson’s latest model, the Airwrap i.d.

At £299.99 (around $350), it’s right in line with most of the solid Dyson alternatives on the market today. I'm looking forward to seeing if its performance lives up to the spec sheet, but from what we’ve seen so far, the AirStyle Pro could be a serious contender in the battle of the best Airwrap alternatives out there.

Dyson has launched the new Dyson O2 Probiotic Hard Floor Cleaning Solution, specially formulated to complement Dyson's wet floor cleaners for longer-lasting, more effective cleaning. This non-foaming, non-toxic formula effectively lifts dirt and grime whilst remaining gentle on floors and safe for both pets and children.

The launch comes at a perfect time, as Dyson’s cleaning portfolio has been expanding. Following the release of the Dyson V15s Detect Submarine and more recently the WashG1, users now have two products that can pair with the new cleaning solution.

If you're wondering how probiotics fit into the equation, the Dyson O2 Probiotic solution contains 250 billion live microorganisms that actively break down dirt and grease. Contrary to popular belief, not all bacteria are harmful, and the new solution shows how probiotics can be used in a hugely beneficial way.

This isn’t the first time Dyson has released a non-electrical product designed to complement its electrical range. Dyson has just announced the launch of its Supersonic r, its lightest and most powerful hair dryer yet. While the Dyson Supersonic r was launched over a year ago, the hair dryer is now available to the public and has become part of Dyson’s core hair care range.

While Dyson is best known for its collection of vacuum cleaners, the brand has since become a big name in the hair care industry. Dyson launched its first hair dryer in 2016 which was met with critical acclaim, before branching out into straighteners and stylers. But now, Dyson is launching its latest hair dryer, and it’s one we’ve been waiting for for over a year.

Dyson originally announced the Supersonic r in February 2024. The launch coincided with AW24 Fashion Week and at the time, Fashion Week hair stylists were the first and only people to get to try the new hair dryer. Now, customers will be able to buy the Dyson Supersonic r for themselves and achieve salon-quality results at home.

As the name suggests, the Dyson Supersonic r is based on the Dyson Supersonic, but it has a few key differences. The main (and most obvious) difference is the design. Some Supersonic users found the original dryer a bit too heavy and hard to maneuver, so Dyson has solved this problem with the Supersonic r’s shape which has a smaller and more ergonomic design.

Essentially, the Dyson Supersonic r is in the shape of an ‘r’. While it might not look like a traditional hair dryer (and looks a bit like a garden hose if you ask me), it’s been designed like this so it’s comfortable to hold and can dry hard-to-reach areas around the head in a more controlled fashion.

In addition to the redesign, Dyson has stated that the Dyson Supersonic r is its lightest, precise and most powerful dryer to date. Powered by Dyson’s Hyperdymium motor and intelligent Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors, the Dyson Supersonic r expels heat and airflow evenly for faster dryer and a more professional finish.

The sensors within the Dyson Supersonic r also work to adjust the motor and heater in accordance with the attachment that’s been added to the end of the hair dryer. Similar to the iconic Dyson Airwrap, the Dyson Supersonic r comes with drying and styling accessories for more versatility, including combs and diffusers.

Now available to the UK public from 2nd April, the Dyson Supersonic r is priced at £449.99 and comes in a Ceramic Pink colour.

One of my most irritating occasional chores is vacuuming the interior of our car. Sometimes I use a cordless vacuum with short and stumpy attachments fitted, while at others, I wheel out my standard issue vacuum cleaner and try and do it with that. Neither option has ever been great, to be honest. Until now that is and the arrival of this, the Dyson Car+Boat handheld vacuum, which is specifically designed for cleaning cars and, yes, boats too. The secret is in the title, right?

Much like the other best handheld vacuum cleaner solutions out there, the secret of this appliance is its condensed dimensions. The Dyson Car+Boat handheld vacuum is undeniably dinky, but it’s also been built with powerful performance in mind. That’s a good thing as I’ve had so many experiences with so-called ‘carvacs’ only to find they have got barely enough puff to suck up a collection of crisp crumbs or a foil sweet wrapper.

Granted, there are cheaper options out there, but this being a Dyson should mean I’ll be able to vacuum my car (and my boat) with a lot less faff than the way I’ve been doing it before now. And, just because it’s got a fairly specific name, there’s nothing to stop me using it on difficult to get at locations, like the stairs, hard to reach shelving and inside kitchen cupboards where endless food dust and detritus lurks. Dyson Car+Boat review: Is it any good?

I’ve tried to many car vacuums and been consistently disappointed. So, the Dyson Car+Boat handheld vacuum couldn’t really have been any less good than those. After all, Dyson kit is well known for its performance capabilities and, thankfully, this model is no different. In fact, there’s a built-in motor that can speed up to 110,000rpm, which is, well, fast enough for most requirements and maximum suction can reach 115AW.

As is the case with any battery-powered appliance, I got started by giving the unit a full charge, which can take up to five hours from zero. With a full charge on board it can run up to between 40 and 50 minutes, although this is obviously subject to how you use it with the maximum suction setting likely to see the life ebb away faster. Nevertheless, 40 minutes or so is fine for most scenarios using a handheld appliance, I think.

What I also found impressive with the Dyson Car+Boat handheld vacuum is the design and weight of the unit. Even with the battery on-board it weighs just 1.9kg and the design means it feels nicely balanced, so is easy to handle even when you’re working it into awkward spaces.

The bin is, naturally, compact and bijou at just .54 of a litre, but is perfectly fine for the job in hand. Dimensions-wise, it’s 206mm high, 331mm long and 131mm wide and arrives in what looks like a giant shoe box. Perfect for storage in a boat cabin or, perhaps, in a caravan or camper.

Dyson Car+Boat review: Performance

Firing up the Dyson Car+Boat handheld vacuum for the first time proved to be a revelation. It’s got some real punch, which combined with the choice of cleaning head attachments makes it brilliant for multiple jobs. Another real bonus is the way the brush head can slide over the plastic crevice tool, which means it is really quick and easy to adapt the appliance depending on the surface material or space that’s being tackled.

Full marks should also go to the mini motorhead, which is like a smaller version of a regular vacuum cleaner head attachment, but comes with an adjust angle foot. This means it can be worked around the contours of a car interior, especially where the floorplan and carpet contours lie, making it much more effective than many others I’ve tried. It’s also small enough to get in and under seats and other obstacles too, which further increases its practical appeal.

There’s a neat little slider on the top of the main unit for switching up into maximum mode, and that sounds and performs very impressively indeed. Dyson states that filtration is 99.99% to 0.3 microns and, combined with what I witnessed being picked up during my time using it so far, I’d say this is one of the best handhelds I can recall using. The chunky design is also great for when the unit needs cleaning and, while that bin isn’t the biggest, it is quick and easy to empty.

Dyson Car+Boat review: Verdict

I really like the Dyson Car+Boat handheld vacuum and, even though the name seemingly limits its appeal, this compact cleaning model is ideally suited to a wide variety of vacuuming tasks. I’d say it would be particularly good for tackling a pet bed. They can be a real faff to get fur and fluff off, but the combination of cleaning attachments should be able to cope with any type of pooch or cat bed.

Added to that, the practical edge of the two cleaning attachments makes it perfect for tackling all manner of surfaces. I found the brush head great for getting in and around dashboard and door card areas, where dust and crumbs always lurk. There’s more than enough suction on offer and this model is nicely balanced too, which makes it easy to use even if you’re poking around in the back of the car or delving into the darkened corners of your floating gin palace.

Dyson Car+Boat review: Alternatives to consider

We’ve got a best car vacuum guide that will point you in the direction of plenty of other options, with perhaps the best of the bunch currently being the Shark Premium Handheld Vacuum WV270UK. There’s actually an older version of the Dyson Car and Boat too, which if you can still find one might do a similar job but cost less money. Worth investigating if the pennies are tight currently.
