Roborock has launched the Qrevo 2 Pro in the UK, combining powerful cleaning, smarter automation and a redesigned dock that's designed to reduce the amount of hands-on maintenance. It joins Roborock's wider Qrevo range, which already includes the recently reviewed Qrevo S Pro.

The Qrevo 2 Pro comes with 25,000Pa HyperForce suction, a Dual Anti-Tangle System, smarter carpet care and improved corner and edge cleaning. The redesigned multifunctional dock can also store up to 65 days' worth of dust, meaning you won't need to empty it anywhere near as often.

The Qrevo 2 Pro is currently available for £529.99, reduced from £649, giving you £120 off when buying through Roborock's online store or Amazon. However, the offer is only available until 9th August, so you'll need to be quick if you're tempted.

One of the standout features is Auto Mop Removal, which sees the robot automatically detach its mop before heading onto carpets and then reattach it afterwards. This means your carpets can stay dry whilst the robot continues cleaning across different floor types.

Roborock has also improved its corner and edge cleaning, allowing the Qrevo 2 Pro to cover up to 30% more corner area, whilst its FlexiArm Edge Mopping system extends the mop to clean as close as 1.85mm along edges.

The multifunctional dock now features an upgraded one-piece tray alongside a new Soaking Mode that's designed to wash the mops more thoroughly. Once cleaning is complete, 75°C high-temperature mop washing helps tackle dirt and reduce odours, whilst 45°C warm-air drying helps keep the mops fresh and the dock more hygienic between cleans.

When you spend all day comparing robot vacuums with ridiculous suction power, more AI features than you can count and endless app settings, it's actually quite refreshing when something like the iRobot Roomba Mini comes along.

Launched in March as one of the smallest robot vacuums the world has seen, the Roomba Mini still has plenty of the features you'd expect from some of the best robot vacuum cleaners around.

Naturally, I couldn't wait to put it to the test and find out whether this half-size robot could still deliver a full-size clean.

Price and availability

The Roomba Mini is available in the UK and Europe for £379 and €399, respectively, and comes in four colours – black, white, pink and mint green. It's currently not available to buy in the US.

Design and features

The Roomba Mini is iRobot's smallest Roomba robot yet, measuring just 24.5 x 24.5 x 9.2cm and weighing around 2kg. iRobot claims it offers 2 x more cleaning coverage in tight spaces, whilst the robot itself is around half the size of a full-sized Roomba.

Despite its compact size, the Roomba Mini features what iRobot describes as 70x more Power-Lifting Suction, alongside a single-action brush designed to pick up everyday dirt, dust and crumbs. It can also vacuum and mop, with the mopping function activated by attaching a disposable mop pad.

The box comes with 30 disposable mopping pads, giving you a fresh pad for each clean. You can also replace these with compatible third-party disposable wipes if you don't want to stick with iRobot's own pads.

Navigation is handled by ClearView LiDAR, which can map your home in under 10 minutes and helps the Mini navigate around furniture and obstacles. It also features Carpet Detect, which automatically avoids rugs and carpets when mopping.

You can schedule and customise cleaning through the Roomba Home app, use voice assistants or simply press the button on the robot to start a clean. It can even begin cleaning without a Wi-Fi connection.

The AutoEmpty Dock automatically empties the robot into an AllergenLock bag, which can hold up to three months' worth of dirt. The dock itself measures 21.2 x 17.8 x 28.5cm and takes up 33% less floor space than standard robot vacuum docks, making the whole setup particularly well suited to smaller homes.

Performance

The Roomba Mini is a fun addition to the robot vacuum market, and it certainly holds its own when it comes to features. I found the suction to be absolutely fine, particularly on hard floors, and it's great that mopping is included, even if it's via a simple mop pad.

I also really like that features you'd normally expect to find on a much larger model, such as the AutoEmpty Dock, Carpet Detect and ClearView LiDAR, are all included here. It helps the Roomba Mini feel like a properly developed robot vacuum rather than a rudimentary version.

When I first started testing, I was also impressed by how quickly it mapped my home and got to work. It scanned the rooms efficiently, and the map appeared in the app within seconds. I've used the iRobot app before and have always found it straightforward to navigate, so it was nice to have that familiar experience here. The Mini's compact size is another major advantage, and I can see it being a particularly good fit for anyone living in a smaller home or flat who doesn't have the space or need for a huge robot vacuum.

I also enjoyed integrating the Roomba Mini with Alexa, as it meant I could control the robot using voice commands, whilst the iRobot app made it easy to create cleaning schedules and manage its settings.

However, after six weeks of testing, I couldn't quite shake the feeling that the Roomba Mini is a little gimmicky in some areas. The suction is perfectly adequate on hard floors, but it isn't particularly impressive on carpet, where I found it struggled more with picking up debris. The mop pad is also fine for dealing with crumbs, but I often found that stains were left behind after multiple passes. It's certainly better than having no mopping function at all, but I wouldn't rely on it for a particularly thorough clean.

I also ran into some frustrating connectivity issues during my testing. The Roomba Mini disconnected from the app several times without any obvious reason, despite the robot remaining plugged in. Each time, I had to remove the vacuum from the app and reconnect it, which unfortunately meant losing my saved map and cleaning schedule. I then had to set everything up again from scratch. This happened three times over the six-week testing period, and it was easily the most frustrating part of using the Roomba Mini.

Verdict

The Roomba Mini is a likeable little robot vacuum that has an impressive number of features within its compact design. It's particularly well suited to smaller homes, but the weak carpet cleaning, basic mopping and frustrating connectivity issues mean it doesn't feel like the complete package. If you mainly have hard floors and want a small robot vacuum that can handle the basics, there's a lot to like here, but I'd be hesitant to recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful all-round cleaner.

Alternatives to consider

The obvious alternative to consider is the SwitchBot Mini K10+, which is very similar in size. Both models use LiDAR mapping and offer mopping via disposable pads, but main difference is suction power. The Roomba Mini offers significantly more than the SwitchBot, which could make it the better choice.

If you don't mind having a larger robot and want to stick to a similar budget, the Roomba Max 705 is another model worth considering. It's currently half price at £279 and offers many of the same features as the Roomba Mini, but adds anti-tangle Dual Rubber Brushes, an Edge-Sweeping Brush and 180x more Power-Lifting Suction.

If you’re headed to do your weekly shop in your local Lidl, the global supermarket chain has just added its own version of the Ninja Crispi air fryer to its stores. The Silvercrest Glass Air Fryer has four pre-set programmes, two glass containers, and an affordable price tag of just £59.99.

Glass air fryers have taken the kitchen by storm since Ninja debuted its Crispi air fryer in 2025. Having a glass cooking and storage container instead of a ‘normal’ air fryer compartment means you can see your food’s progress without having to open the drawer and disturb your cooking.

Since the Ninja Crispi launch, many brands have made their own versions including Cuisinart, Dreame and Salter. Now, Lidl is trying its hand with this air fryer style with the Silvercrest Glass Air Fryer that just arrived in stores. It looks almost identical to the Ninja crispi with its ‘pod’ cooking system that clips on to the glass containers.

With 1500W of power, the Silvercrest Glass Air Fryer heats up quickly and cooks from 60°C to 200°C. The controls are on the top of the ‘pod’ and includes a dial and buttons for quick and easy operation. Users can choose between air fry, roast, keep warm and re-fry pre-sets for even quicker use that’s ideal for air fryer beginners.

The Silvercrest Glass Air Fryer uses little to no oil when cooking, and Lidl states that it’s also handy for baking and grilling. It comes with two heat-resistant glass containers, including a small one with a two litre capacity, and larger one with a four litre capacity.

The glass containers can be used for cooking as well as storage. They come with cool-touch handles and leak-proof lids so you can take the containers with you on-the-go. The Silvercrest Glass Air Fryer also comes with a trivet which is dishwasher safe, just like the lids and containers.

The Silvercrest Glass Air Fryer is available to buy in select stores for £59.99. If you’re a Lidl Plus member, you can get it for £49.99. Compared to the original Ninja Crispi which is priced at £149.99, the Silvercrest Glass Air Fryer is 60% cheaper so if you’re on a budget, it looks like a good choice for your kitchen.

I’ve tested many coffee machines in my time as T3’s Home Editor, but I’ve never seen an espresso maker like this before. The Flair Classic was originally launched in 2016, but as of late 2025, Flair has updated it with a pressure gauge, a stainless brew cylinder, and two portafilters.

Dubbed the first lever espresso maker, the Flair Classic works in a similar way to an Aeropress but on a larger scale. Unlike the Aeropress which has a small, cylindrical design, the Flair Classic looks like something out of a DT classroom, with a simple yet innovative lever system that requires a little bit of elbow grease.

Made from cast aluminium and stainless steel, the Flair Classic espresso machine makes barista-style espresso using a manual lever system – no electronics required. To ‘pull’ a shot of espresso, you simply add ground coffee to a portafilter before adding it to the brew base. Next, you add the brew cylinder on top and pour in boiling water.

Now for my favourite part – and the reason why I’m desperate to try the Flair Classic – you insert the piston and pressure gauge before pushing down the lever to extract your coffee. This should make a 40ml shot of espresso with crema. All the parts are removable from the main brewing head or base, so it’s easy to use and clean afterwards.

One of the main updates to the upgraded Flair Classic is its portafilters. It now comes with a bottomless 2-in-1 portafilter and a flow control portafilter to offer users more control over their coffee. The former comes in black and is designed for advanced baristas, and the latter is red and is for use with pre-ground coffee, making it better suited for beginners.

As I said before, I’ve tested my fair share of coffee machines, including bean-to-cup, pod, drip and more, and the Flair Classic is the most intriguing espresso maker I’ve ever seen. While it might look a bit too high tech at first, the Flair Classic is easy to get on with, and is a fun change from all the automatic and semi-automatic machines on the market.

I've tested plenty of Philips air fryers over the years, from compact stacked basket models to dual-zone designs, but this latest one takes things in a different direction. The Philips Airfryer 5000 Series Megabasket is the brand's largest air fryer yet, combining a huge 10-litre capacity with a flexible design that can be used as one large basket or split into two.

With 3-in-1 cooking functionality and enough space to tackle much bigger meals, I was keen to see whether the Megabasket could offer something different.

Price and availability

The Philips Airfryer 5000 Series Megabasket has an RRP of £259.99 and is available to buy from Amazon.

For comparison, the original 5000 Series Dual Basket launched at the same RRP, although it's now available at a reduced price from a number of retailers, having been on the market for more than a year.

Design and features

As mentioned, the Philips Airfryer 5000 Series Megabasket comes with a generous 10-litre cooking capacity that can be used as one large Megabasket or divided into two separate 3-litre and 6-litre zones. This gives you the flexibility of a dual-basket air fryer when you're cooking different foods, whilst allowing you to combine the two compartments when you need more space for a larger meal.

That said, it measures around 44.4 x 38.3 x 35.5cm and weighs approximately 8.75kg, so you'll probably want to give it a permanent home on your kitchen worktop rather than moving it in and out of a cupboard.

The Megabasket features a 3-in-1 cooking system, combining traditional air frying with steaming and SteamFry. The standard air-frying function uses hot air to cook and crisp food, whilst the steam function introduces moisture during cooking. The more interesting option is SteamFry, which combines hot air and steam to help keep food moist on the inside whilst still achieving a crisp finish on the outside.

The air fryer also uses Philips' RapidAir Plus technology, which we've seen across many of the brand's more recent air fryers. This circulates hot air around the food to promote more even cooking, with the aim of delivering that crispy texture you'd normally associate with deep frying.

You can also adjust the cooking temperature between 40°C and 200°C, giving you plenty of flexibility depending on what you're making.

The Megabasket has a digital touchscreen display on the top front, giving you control over the cooking settings and access to 12 ingredient presets. However, as mentioned, you can still manually adjust the temperature and cooking time when needed.

One of my favourite features is Automatic SteamClean, which uses steam to loosen cooking residue inside the cooking chamber. Whilst you'll still need to give it a wipe down, it makes the entire process so much easier.

Performance

During testing, the 5000 Series Megabasket delivered the kind of cooking results I'd expect from Philips, and they were very similar to what I'd previously experienced with the 5000 Series Dual Basket. Food cooked evenly and the results felt really consistent with each meal I made. After trying the 4000 Series Stacked Basket Air Fryer, which I found a little more unpredictable with its cooking, it was nice to return to something that felt more reliable.

The whole experience also felt very familiar if you've used a Philips air fryer before. The controls are intuitive, and the cooking process doesn't take long to get used to it. I also quickly remembered how much I love the SteamFry function, particularly for roasting vegetables, which come out beautifully cooked without drying out.

One of my favourite things about the Megabasket has to be its size. It's big enough to cook larger joints of meat, which is something I couldn't always say about my previous air fryers. Pork belly roast is a firm favourite in my house, but I've always cooked it in the oven because of its size. Having the Megabasket means I can now cook it in the air fryer instead, which has drastically improved the meal altogether.

The Automatic SteamClean function is also worth a strong mention, and I don't think I'd want an air fryer without it now. It's particularly good at loosening hardened fats and burnt bits, which usually take a lot of scrubbing to remove. Instead of putting all removable parts in the dishwasher, now all I need to do is give everything a quick wipe, rinse it in the sink and leave it to dry. Considering the size of the Megabasket, this is a huge advantage.

Speaking of, one thing to be aware of is just how big the Megabasket really is. It has an unusual handle design that sticks out from the side of the main body, which I'm not sure is necessary, as a more conventional front-facing handle could have kept things more compact. I therefore recommend measuring up before you buy, as this is one air fryer you won't want to underestimate the size of.

Verdict

The Philips Airfryer 5000 Series Megabasket is a brilliant choice if you want an air fryer that's big enough for larger meals without sacrificing flexibility. Its 10-litre capacity and excellent cooking make it a pleasure to use, whilst the Automatic SteamClean is a game-changer for cleaning. It's certainly not the smallest appliance and smaller households may find it excessive, but if you've got the room, this is one of my favourite Philips air fryers yet.

Alternatives to consider

The closest alternative to the Megabasket is probably the Ninja Foodi FlexDrawer. Not only are the two similarly priced, but the Ninja also features a large 10.4-litre removable drawer, alongside a divider and two crisper plates, making the overall concept very similar.

If you'd rather stick with Philips, you also can't go wrong with the original 5000 Series Dual Basket. The cooking results are similarly impressive, and its more traditional dual-basket design makes it a more suitable option for smaller families.

During the height of a UK heatwave, I was very kindly invited to the Summer of Indulge Garden Party with Russell Hobbs. To say I had a great time sitting outside, listening to music and snacking on charcuterie would be an understatement, but I also got to see Russell Hobbs’ new Indulge collection in action.

The new Indulge line-up from Russell Hobbs features its bestselling kitchen gadgets in its stylish stone colourway. The neutral shade works perfectly in any kitchen, and they’re packed full of handy features to make your daily life easier, as well as your summer hosting.

As mentioned, I got to see and try the new Indulge appliances for myself, and I was thoroughly impressed. Starting with coffee, I tried the Russell Hobbs Cafe Genie Espresso Machine, and was immediately caught by its design.

Coffee machines have gotten bulkier in size and stature, but Russell Hobbs Cafe Genie Espresso Machine is surprisingly petite, and sat proudly on the event’s coffee bar. It has a touch control panel sitting at the top of the machine where you can adjust your settings and click through popular drinks, like cappuccinos, lattes, flat whites and more.

The Russell Hobbs Cafe Genie Espresso Machine has a built-in milk system that automatically steams and froths milk when you pick a milk-based drink. But I was more interested in trying its espresso which I did in the form of a non-alcoholic espresso martini.

With its 20-bar pressure pump, the Russell Hobbs Cafe Genie Espresso Machine pulled coffee in little to no time, and it had a deep, rich flavour. Of course, a lot of this is to do with the quality of the coffee beans of which the machine is compatible with loose coffee grounds or Nespresso Original pods.

For £229.99, the Russell Hobbs Cafe Genie Espresso Machine isn’t too expensive either, compared to other coffee manufacturers. Having tried it, I’d say it’s good value for money, and it looks and feels like a high quality product that’ll definitely find its way into many kitchens.

The next appliance I tried was the JuiceLuxe Juicer. I’ve been wanting a juicer for a long time, and I think the JuiceLuxe Juicer might have won me over. It features a 62mm juicing tube at the top where you insert your fruit and vegetables, and it has a non-drop sprout to dispense your juice.

I can’t get enough of ginger at the moment, so I got a ginger, orange and carrot juice and was impressed by how fast the JuiceLuxe Juicer turned everything around with its 400W motor. It tackled hard carrots and oversized oranges with no problem, and I was surprised by how tidy it was, as normally juicers can get messy.

Last but certainly not least, I made my way over to the ice cream station to see the Chillluxe Ice Cream Maker in action. Sadly for me, I’m lactose intolerant so couldn’t try any of the ice cream but I did get to see the ice cream maker at work.

The first thing I noticed was how quiet it was when in operation. Of course, I was at an event with a lot of people and a DJ playing, but the Chillluxe wasn’t too loud. While you still need to pre-freeze your mixture the night before, the Chillluxe whizzes up ice cream, sorbet, gelato and more in a matter of minutes.

Again, I didn’t try the finished product, but I saw lots of happy people with creamy, almost soft serve-consistency ice cream, and it looked delicious! With so many ice cream makers on the market right now, it can be hard to pick the right one for you, but the Chillluxe from Russell Hobbs is a great budget choice at £159.99.

2026 is shaping up to have the hottest summer on record for the UK. We’ve been hit by multiple heatwaves, and the only thing that’s got me through being outside in the sun is a handheld fan.

Handheld fans have been around for years, but it feels like 2026 has seen a huge surge in popularity for them. Instead of cheap, flimsy portable fans that are usually on the market, higher end brands have launched their own models this year, including the likes of Shark and Dyson.

If you’ve finally decided to bite the bullet and buy yourself a handheld fan, here are the five best handheld fans on the market right now for on-the-go cooling.

1. Shark ChillPill

The handheld fan that started the revolution has got to be the Shark ChillPill. This 3-in-1 fan launched in March 2026, offering portable cooling in a stylish design. Featuring fan, mist and InstaChill attachments, the Shark ChillPill can be used indoors and outdoors, and at just 11.2cm height and weighing just 0.35kg, it’s easy to take with you on commutes, day trips and more.

The best part of the Shark ChillPill is its high-speed fan which has 10 speeds and a maximum velocity of 7.5m/s. It’s intensely cooling albeit a little loud, but that can be ignored because of its great versatility and power. It also has an ultra-fine mister which releases micro droplets to cool you down, and its InstaChill cooling plate lowers skin temperature by up to 9°.

2. Dyson HushJet Mini Cool

A month or two after the Shark ChillPill came out, Dyson launched its very own – and first ever from the brand – handheld fan, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool. While it looks like something that stepped out of a sci-fi film, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool has a lightweight, slim design that’s comfortable to hold and comes with easy controls.

The Dyson HushJet Mini Cool is extremely simple with just an on/off button and speed controls, which is a surprise from a premium brand like Dyson. It gets a bit loud, but the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool can handle any intense temperature and its projection power is hard to beat. The cheapest product from Dyson at £99.99, it still gets our vote for the best premium handheld fan due to its high quality and durability.

3. JML ChillMax ChillMate

If you’re on a tight budget, the JML ChillMax ChillMate is £14.99 / $19.99 so it won’t break the bank. It might be cheap but it’s certainly cheerful with three fan speeds, a base stand for hands-free cooling, and an up to six hours runtime.

Where the JML ChillMax ChillMate really stands out is its built-in cooling plate. Located at the centre of the fan, this plate can be placed directly against your skin to cool you down quickly and effectively. It works best on places like your wrist, temples and back of your neck where heat builds up.

4. Blueair AlwaysCool

Launched in June 2026, the Blueair AlwaysCool fan ticks lots of boxes. Firstly, its design features an LCD display that shows speed and battery settings, and a tilting head which adjusts its airflow. It has 100 speeds to choose from, and uses AeroSilent technology to operate at a maximum noise level of 46dB.

The Blueair AlwaysCool fan exceeds all expectations with its battery life. It has a 5200mAh battery and can be used for up to 32 hours on a single charge which is significantly more than other brands on this list. Users will need to have it on its lowest settings to make the most of the battery life, but it’s impressive anyways.

5. Aecooly Cold Air Ultra

Misting is quite a tricky thing to add to a handheld fan as they have a small size and need constant refills. But the best misting handheld fan I’ve found is the Aecooly Cold Air Ultra. It has a wide mouth water tank which gives up to eight minutes of misting with one refill.

The Aecooly Cold Air Ultra has a digital display which easily flicks through its misting and fan settings. It generates speeds and projection of up to 82ft/s and is seriously cooling. It’s slightly bulkier than the other models on this list but it’s easy to hold and travel with.

De'Longhi has launched a new bean-to-cup coffee machine, combining three dedicated brewing methods – espresso, drip coffee and cold brew – with a menu of 20 different recipes.

The Magnifica Duo arrives just a few days after the Rivelia Start, a more compact and affordable version of De'Longhi's original Rivelia, which first launched in 2024. It seems the brand is contributing to a growing demand for coffee machines that are easier to fit into smaller kitchens, whilst also coming in at a slightly more accessible price.

The De'Longhi Magnifica Duo is available to buy now from the brand's website, priced at £699.99 in the UK and $999.95 in the US.

The Magnifica Duo uses different brewing methods depending on the type of coffee you're making. For espresso, high-pressure brewing with pre-infusion is designed to create a bold and intense flavour. For drip coffee, lower pressure and no pre-infusion allow the coffee grounds to bloom. The cold brew setting takes a different approach again, using ambient-temperature water and very low pressure to steep the grounds for longer, resulting in what De'Longhi describes as a smooth, sweet and refreshing flavour.

It also features De'Longhi's popular dishwasher-safe LatteCrema Hot and LatteCrema Cool technologies, giving you the option to create both hot and cold milk-based drinks with adjustable foam levels.

For households with multiple coffee drinkers, the Magnifica Duo offers three dedicated user profiles, allowing everyone to customise and save their favourite drink settings. Through the intuitive 2.4-inch digital display, you can choose from five drink sizes, four intensity levels and three temperature settings, making it easy to adjust your coffee exactly how you like it.

Expanding its E line-up, JURA has just launched a new version of its E10 bean to cup coffee machine. This upgraded model comes with 36 drink options, as well as hot, cold and light brew and sweet foam functions – but as a luxury brand, the JURA E10 will set you back.

The original E10 debuted back in 2004, but 22 years later, the new and improved JURA E10 is finally here, and it combines four coffee modes in one premium appliance. JURA is one of the main coffee machine brands that have jumped on the cold brew bandwagon, and the JURA E10 is no exception.

As a 4-in-1 coffee machine, the JURA E10 can make hot brew, cold brew, light brew and sweet foam drinks at the touch of a button. It uses JURA’s Cold Extraction process which it’s introduced to many of its other coffee makers, including the Z10 which we gave five stars in our JURA Z10 review.

Using freshly ground coffee beans, the JURA E10 makes rich cold brews by pulsing cold water at a high pressure to extract the right flavours without any dilution. Its light brew is a new addition to JURA’s coffee machines, which brews drinks at a 60°C temperature for smoother and lighter coffees that are ready to drink straight away.

Sweet Foam is for milk-based drinks which – you guessed it – froths milk foam and gives it a subtly sweet taste. This, as well as its hot, cold and light brew functions, can be used on all its 36 drink options, which include latte, cappuccino, cortado, espresso and flat white to name a few.

Another new and impressive feature of the JURA E10 is its Coffee Timer, which allows you to schedule your coffee ahead of time. Available via the touchscreen, you can select what coffee you want and when you want it made, and the JURA E10 will have it ready for you when you want it – an incredibly handy feature for busy mornings.

The JURA E10 is almost identical to its other E coffee machines, although it only measures 27cm wide so it's much slimmer. Available in an onyx black colour, the JURA E10 has a 3-5-inch colour touchscreen display with side buttons for easy controls.

While it might look intimidating at first, the JURA E10 is an automatic bean to cup coffee machine, making it ideal for beginners as the machine does all the work for you. The JURA E10 is available to buy now for £1,425 at JURA.

Ninja has finally launched its Double Stack XL Air Fryer in its popular Stone Gold colourway. The shade first became a huge hit when it launched on the Foodi MAX Dual Zone Digital Air Fryer, with people loving its neutral tones.

The Double Stack XL Air Fryer launched back in 2024 and quickly earned an impressive four-star review from us. Since then, we've seen other brands take inspiration from the same vertical approach, with the Philips 4000 Series Stacked Dual Basket Air Fryer being one example.

The good news is that the Double Stack XL in Stone Gold is already reduced on Amazon, taking the price from £289.99 down to £249.99. It's not a huge saving, but if you've already got your eye on one, it's definitely worth grabbing at a lower price.

That said, if you think you'd prefer the Foodi MAX, the good news is that it's still reduced too, with the price dropping from £229.99 to £178. That's an even bigger saving, so it could be the better deal if you don't need the Double Stack XL's more compact footprint.

When you're looking for one of the best bean-to-cup coffee machines, it's easy to get carried away by the premium models. The most expensive machines often promise more features, smarter technology and a longer list of drinks, but do you really need to spend that much to get a great cup of coffee at home? Not necessarily.

As a result, I've been looking at some of the more affordable options from big-name brands and found that you can get an impressive coffee experience without paying top prices. I've already covered the three affordable De'Longhi coffee machines I'd buy, and now it's time to look at Sage.

Why don't you always need to buy the most expensive coffee machine?

Sage is a brand that really leans into premium coffee machines, with more advanced features and added convenience the further up the range you go. That's why two of the three more affordable options in my list above don't come with built-in grinders. However, that doesn't mean you can't get a really high-quality coffee machine from Sage without spending a fortune.

One thing I also want to mention is that not everyone realises Sage and Breville are essentially the same brand. Sage products are sold under the Sage name in the UK and Europe, whilst Breville is the name used in other markets. As a result, you'll often find very similar machines and technology across both brands, although product names and specific features can vary depending on the region.

So, if the Sage options above are still outside your budget, I'd recommend taking a look at Breville models available in your market. They could be a great alternative if you're after a similar coffee-making experience without the premium price tag.

Having a smart plug in your house is invaluable, especially if you’re just starting out with creating your own smart home. But there are some gadgets you should never use with a smart plug – here’s why.

Plugging non-smart appliances into a smart plug means you can use them remotely, set timers, and turn things on and off using your voice. Most importantly, you can add smart technology to your home in an affordable way, without having to replace all of your devices.

Despite being fairly underrated, many people tout smart plugs as someone you can use all over your home. However, there are definitely appliances that they work best with, like lights if you haven’t upgraded to smart bulbs yet, and TVs if you want to save energy by taking it off of standby.

But there are five appliances you should never use with a smart plug – some because it isn’t safe, and others where there isn’t much point and you’re having to do more work to use them in this way.

1. Coffee machines

I’ve tested a few smart plugs for T3, and the main appliances I found to not work well with them are bean to cup coffee machines and kettles. Of course, it’ll depend on the type of coffee maker or kettle you have, but in general, you still need to manually select a drink or temperature in order for your machine to work.

In this instance, a smart plug can ‘wake up’ your coffee machine and kettle, so when you get downstairs in the morning, you can simply tap your drink of choice, and push down your kettle’s lever. But this really isn’t saving you very much time. Instead, you can get coffee machines and smart kettles that come with their own apps and Wi-Fi connectivity, so you can use them remotely in a more cohesive way.

2. Toasters

If you want my advice, I’d avoid using smart plugs with any kind of kitchen appliance, especially toasters. Similar to kettles, toasters still require manual assistance as you need to add your bread and push the lever down. Some may put bread in the toaster the night beforehand, but there’s still that manual action required to get the toaster to actually toast your bread.

3. Blenders

Again, depending on the type of blender you have, there’s still some manual operation needed for it to make your morning smoothie. Regardless of whether you add your ingredients the night before and attach it to your blender, some models require you to press buttons and in the case of Nurtibullets, you have to physically push down the blender to activate the blade.

4. Heaters

If you take any advice from this list, it’s that you should never use a heater with a smart plug – or any kind of appliance that generates heat. Heaters use a large amount of electricity, and this can exceed smart plug limits. In fact, heater manuals strictly dissuade users from using them in extension cords or smart plugs.

The main safety concern here is if the electricity and wattage between a heater and smart plug isn’t compatible – more on this below – this can cause the smart plug to short circuit which can cause an electrical fire.

5. Appliances over 1500W

Most smart plugs are rated between 10 to 13 amps, so any appliance that exceeds this limit shouldn’t be used with a smart plug as it becomes a safety concern. I’d recommend avoiding plugging anything into a smart plug that uses over 1500W of power, especially large appliances, like fridges, washing machines, tumble dryers and air conditioners.

Watch out, Shark – Dimplex has launched its DuoCool Smart Cordless 2-in-1 Fan, and it looks strangely familiar. Dimplex’s new DuoCool fan has a cordless, adjustable design, app control and an impressive battery life – if you’re looking for a Shark FlexBreeze dupe, this is the one I’d recommend.

This summer is shaping up to be the hottest on record, so unsurprisingly, many people are looking to manage the heat with the best fans. But with so many brands to choose from – and the majority of models being completely sold out – it can be hard to narrow down your options.

A brand I’ve recently become acquainted with is Dimplex – and just at the right time, too. Dimplex is best known for its heating and cooling products, and for summer 2026, it launched a range of new fans and portable air conditioners, ideal for the intense UK heatwaves which have hit in the past couple of months.

The standout in the range is the Dimplex DuoCool Smart Cordless 2-in-1 Fan. A cordless, portable fan, the Dimplex DuoCool Smart Cordless 2-in-1 Fan can be used both indoors and outdoors – thanks to its IP54 rating – and can be adjusted from a pedestal to a desk fan and back again.

As mentioned, it looks almost identical to the Shark FlexBreeze, and it acts in a very similar way. It has a handle towards the back of the main fan so you can carry it around from room to room for instant on-the-go cooling. It can project air up to 20 metres, so it can be used for full room coverage.

The Dimplex DuoCool Smart Cordless 2-in-1 Fan comes with five speeds, including a turbo mode for intense cooling. It also comes with Wi-Fi and an accompanying app so you can adjust its speeds, and set timers and schedules remotely. It’s also compatible with Alexa and Google Home.

But the best feature of the Dimplex DuoCool Smart Cordless 2-in-1 Fan is its battery life. On a single charge, the fan offers up to 45 hours of battery life. This is definitely impressive, although this is on the lowest speed.

I’ve called the Dimplex DuoCool Smart Cordless 2-in-1 Fan a Shark FlexBreeze dupe, which it undoubtedly is as they both have a similar design and features. However, the Dimplex DuoCool Smart Cordless 2-in-1 Fan isn’t much cheaper than the FlexBreeze with it being priced at £179.99, compared to Shark’s £199.99 – but if you want to save some money, it’s a solid choice.

The Dimplex DuoCool Smart Cordless 2-in-1 Fan is available to buy for £179.99 at Dimplex, and select retailers like Amazon and Currys.

When it comes to the best air fryers, one brand name always stands out amongst the rest – Ninja. Ninja has become well known for its wide range of kitchen appliances, but its air fryers are some of the best you can buy, due to their impressive technology and unique designs.

Speaking of, Ninja launched its Crispi glass air fryer in 2025. It went viral on social media, as it was the first glass air fryer to hit the market. The Ninja Crispi is made up of a PowerPod which houses the air fryer’s controls and heating element. When clipped onto a glass ‘basket’, it cooks or reheats your food before you can then take that container with you on-the-go – see our Ninja Crispi review for more details.

The Ninja Crispi quickly became popular due to its weird and whacky design, and portability – it’s compact enough that you could even take the entire air fryer with you to the office if you wanted to. Since its launch, Ninja has launched a Pro version and its latest dual zone model, proving that glass air fryers are here to stay.

Other appliance brands have caught onto this clever design and have made their own Ninja Crispi dupes. Personally, I’d encourage you to buy the Ninja Crispi as it’s the blueprint for this style of air fryer. However, at its full price, the Ninja Crispi is £179.99 / $159.99 which could be too expensive for some.

1. Cuisinart ClearView Glass 3.8L Air Fryer

Cuisinart is one of my favourite appliance brands, and it’s really stepped up its game in the past few years, especially in the air fryer department. The brand’s take on the Ninja Crispi is the Cuisinart ClearView Glass 3.8L Air Fryer which comes with six pre-sets, a sleek design, and is priced at £99.99.

Where the Cuisinart ClearView Glass 3.8L Air Fryer differs from the Ninja Crispi is it has more viewing windows. While the main cooking container is completely glass so you can see your food’s cooking progress, the Cuisinart ClearView Glass 3.8L Air Fryer has top and front windows so you can watch your food from multiple angles.

2. Dreame Tasti 5-in-1 Portable Air Fryer

Dreame debuted in the UK market in 2024, so it’s still a relatively new appliance brand. Having said that, Dreame hasn’t done anything by halves as its launched products in almost every small and large appliance category you can think of, including the (not so) humble air fryer.

Dreame’s version of the Ninja Crispi is the Dreame Tasti – see what they did there? Another portable, glass air fryer, the Dreame Tasti uses 3D hot air technology to cook your food, and comes with two container sizes. Compared to the others on this list, the Dreame Tasti looks almost identical to the Crispi but is the pricier option at £119 / $119.

3. Salter Crisp & Go Portable Air Fryer

Salter is another budget-friendly brand that is well known for its appliance dupes. The Salter Crisp & Go came out earlier this year, and at the cheap price of £89.99, so it’s the most affordable glass air fryer option you’ll find on the market.

The Salter Crispi has the same glass container and cooking pod as the Crispi, but where it differs is its controls are on the front of the pod rather than at the top like Ninja’s. It also comes with four presets, and a 360° viewing window for maximum visibility while you’re cooking.

Another day, another Eufy robot vacuum review. I've had the pleasure of testing several of the brand's models throughout 2026, and it's safe to say Eufy is currently up there with the very best when it comes to robot vacuum cleaners.

My latest test subject is the Eufy Omni C28, which launched earlier this year as a more affordable option in the brand's lineup. After spending time with flagship models like the E25 and E28, I was keen to see what corners, if any, had been cut to reach the lower price.

Price and availability

The Eufy Omni C28 has an RRP of £649/$799.99, although it's currently discounted by £100 in the UK and $300 in the US via Eufy's online store. Take a look below:

Unboxing and set up

Setting the C28 up couldn't have been easier. Like most modern robot vacuums, it guides you through everything in the app before heading off to map your home.

I was impressed by how quickly it produced a detailed floor plan, although it wasn't perfect on the first run. That said, the more cleaning cycles it completes, the more accurate its maps become as it learns your home's layout. I'd say mine was around 85% accurate initially, but after a few runs it had refined the map considerably.

Design and features

The Eufy Omni C28 closely follows the look of the brand's recent robot vacuums, featuring a slim, circular body measuring just 10cm tall, allowing it to slip underneath low furniture with ease. On top sits a LiDAR navigation turret, helping to spot obstacles whilst cleaning.

The accompanying Omni station automatically charges the robot, empties the onboard dustbin, washes the roller mop with clean water and dries it afterwards to help prevent unpleasant smells and bacteria. It also houses separate clean and dirty water tanks, and interestingly, the dirty water tank is actually larger than the one found on the more expensive E25.

When it comes to cleaning, the C28 offers 15,000Pa of suction, which is slightly lower than some premium rivals but still more than enough for everyday use. Instead of using dual spinning mop pads, it features Eufy's HydroJet Self-Cleaning Roller Mop, which constantly washes itself whilst cleaning and applies 1kg of downward pressure to scrub hard floors. I actually preferred this design, as it left noticeably fewer streaks than some robot vacuums I've tested with traditional mop pads.

The DuoSpiral detangling brushes also deserve a mention, which are designed to prevent hair from wrapping around the roller. This makes the C28 a great option if you have pets or anyone with long hair at home.

Navigation is powered by LDS and Laser Line technology, whilst the Eufy Clean app allows you to create multiple maps, customise room-by-room cleaning, set no-go zones and adjust both suction and mopping intensity.

Performance

In day-to-day use, I found the C28 navigated around furniture and changing room layouts very confidently. As mentioned, every time it completed a clean, it seemed to improve its map and cleaning routes as it went along.

I will say it isn't quite as impressive as some of Eufy's more expensive models. Without an RGB camera, its object recognition isn't as refined, so it occasionally needed a little more space around smaller obstacles. That said, I still thought it performed very well overall.

Cleaning performance was another pleasant surprise, and although the suction isn't as powerful as the E25 or E28, it had no trouble picking up pet hair, crumbs and everyday dirt from both hard floors and carpets. If your home has particularly thick carpets or you want the deepest clean possible, I'd still recommend spending a little more on one of Eufy's flagship models. However, for daily cleaning, especially in small to medium-sized homes, the C28 does an excellent job.

That said, I did have a couple of complaints, and the biggest was the noise from the docking station when it empties the dustbin and cleans the mop. The robot itself is fairly quiet, but the dock is significantly louder than the E25's. The first time it ran, I actually thought something had gone wrong because of how noisy it was.

There's also the usual maintenance to keep on top of, although the app does a great job of reminding you when it's time to clean the sensors or empty the tanks.

My only real disappointment was that Eufy doesn't include any floor cleaning solution (£19.99/$20.99) with the C28. It's included with the E28, so it feels like an odd omission here, especially considering you're still spending several hundred pounds. Eufy also recommends only using its own cleaning solution, so it's another small expense to factor in.

Verdict

The Eufy Omni C28 lacks some of the premium features found on Eufy's flagship models, but its combination of dependable cleaning performance, streak-free roller mopping and intuitive app make it one of the strongest value options in the mid-range market. It's particularly well suited to small and medium-sized homes where everyday maintenance matters more than chasing the highest specifications.

Alternatives to consider

If your budget can stretch a little further, I'd recommend looking at the Eufy E28, which offers stronger suction and a few extra premium features.

If you'd prefer something outside the Eufy lineup, the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete is another excellent alternative. With far stronger suction and one of the most advanced docking stations available, it's a fantastic performer.

When you spend good money on one of the best kettles or best coffee machines, you want every cup to taste as good as possible. That means staying on top of cleaning and descaling, but it also means storing your coffee beans properly when they're not in the machine – something many of us are getting wrong without even realising.

According to Luke Dalton, coffee expert at Contact Coffee Co, one of the biggest mistakes coffee drinkers make is storing their beans next to the kettle, toaster or even the coffee machine itself.

It might seem like the most convenient place, but the heat and steam from these appliances can cause your coffee to lose its freshness much more quickly.

Luke explains: "The space beside the kettle is probably one of the most convenient places to keep coffee, but it can also be one of the worst. Every time the kettle boils, or the toaster heats up, the coffee may be exposed to changes in temperature and moisture. Over time, that can affect the oils and aromatic compounds responsible for much of its flavour."

As a result, even a premium bag of speciality coffee can start tasting flat, stale or unexpectedly bitter long before you've finished it.

Instead, Luke recommends storing your coffee in a cool, dry and dark cupboard that's away from appliances that regularly produce heat. Avoid cupboards directly above the oven, hob or dishwasher too, as these areas are also exposed to changing temperatures and humidity.

"The goal isn't to make the coffee cold," Luke adds. "It's to protect it from repeated changes in heat, light and moisture."

It's also worth paying attention to how you store the bag itself. If your coffee comes in a resealable bag with a one-way valve, keep using it. Before sealing it back up, gently press out any excess air without crushing the beans, then make sure the seal is fully closed. These small steps can make a surprising difference to how long your coffee stays fresh.

It also connects to the VeSync app so you can use it remotely, track your filter, schedule sessions, and check insights on your air quality. It’s also compatible with Alexa.

The best fans and portable air conditioners are like gold dust at the moment, with many selling out as the UK continues through another heatwave. Some people are even looking into installing permanent air conditioning at home, but if you're not ready for that kind of investment, there's another option I'd recommend first.

I've tested plenty of fans over the years at T3, from the Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 to the Dreo CF714S Air Circulator Fan, so I've had a chance to try almost every style on the market.

Whilst they all do the same basic job, I've found that it's often the extra features that separate the good from the great, which is why I've ended up becoming such a fan of misting fans.

Misting fans combine a standard electric fan with a fine water mist, creating an evaporative cooling effect. As the mist evaporates, it absorbs heat from the surrounding air, helping you feel noticeably cooler than you would with a standard fan alone.

If you've always dismissed them because you think they'll leave everything damp, don't worry. The mist is so fine that it evaporates almost instantly, leaving you with the cooling effect rather than soaking your furniture or floor.

There are now a few great misting fans to choose from. Shark is probably the best-known brand thanks to its FlexBreeze HydroGo and FlexBreeze Pro Mist, both of which we've reviewed very positively.

If you're after something more heavy-duty, Ego's FN1000E Misting Fan is another excellent option. It's larger and more expensive, but it's powerful enough to cool bigger spaces and works just as well indoors as it does outside.

After using a misting fan, I don't think I'd go back to a standard fan. Having the option to switch the misting function on and off gives you the best of both worlds, and on particularly hot days, the extra cooling makes a much bigger difference than I expected. If you've never tried one before, this is the type of fan I'd recommend looking at first.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that the UK has been experiencing an intense heatwave over the past few weeks. I’ve been writing about all things fans, air con and ways to keep cool for weeks now, and I’ve just found a double fan hack that everyone needs to try if they actually want to sleep in the heatwave.

As T3’s Home Editor, I’ve tested many fans over the years, so I have four knocking around my house right now. I’ve been using a fan in almost every room in my home, including my bedroom, despite the warnings that you shouldn’t sleep with a fan on at night.

Using a fan at night can have negative effects, like leaving your muscles feeling stiff, and exacerbating your allergies. Having a fan pointed directly at you can also be extremely annoying, uncomfortable and loud but I’ve been ignoring my own advice so I can actually get to sleep without overheating.

As my husband runs hotter than me, he’s recently insisted on sleeping with two fans on at night. I was initially against this idea as I don’t like to be too cold even in the midst of a heatwave. But while my bedroom currently sounds like I’m in a wind turbine, I’ve actually found using two fans at once extremely helpful, thanks to this double fan hack.

Why you should use two fans at night instead of one

If you have two or more fans at home, this is a handy trick that makes you and your bedroom feel cooler while preventing you from waking up feeling achy and sore. By using two fans together in the same room, you can create a crosswind or ‘vacuum effect’.

To do this, place one fan in front of an open window. The positioning of the first fan pushes the heat from your bedroom outside your window to cool it down, while also preventing any allergens like pollen from getting into your room.

With your second fan, position it anywhere inside your room, preferably pointing slightly away from you. The second fan circulates cool air around your room, so every area of your room, including you in your bed, is cooled evenly.

I’ve been using this hack for the past few weeks, and it’s made a world of difference to my sleep. I’m no longer waking up feeling sore and uncomfortable, and my room as a whole has felt much cooler. I actually know this to be a fact as I’ve been using a Dyson fan which shows the temperature in my room, and it significantly drops when I use this double fan trick compared to when I use it on its own.

I’ve found this crosswind effect to feel much cooler and the breeze itself feels more natural. I’m quite a hot sleeper but I’ve felt much less sweaty using this trick and my body as a whole is at a much more comfortable temperature.

Ninja has just debuted its first-ever microwave, and it claims to be better than its popular Crispi glass air fryer. Using FusionCrisp technology, the Ninja Crispi Microwave combines the power of an air fryer with the speed of a microwave, making it 50% faster than a traditional oven.

Despite being the go-to name for air fryers, the Ninja Crispi Microwave is the first time that Ninja has ever developed a microwave. But in true Ninja style, it hasn’t completely ventured away from its air fryer roots, as the new Ninja Crispi Microwave can also be used as an air fryer.

Lavazza has unveiled its latest milk frother, the MilkEasy Plus, and it's been approved by Alpro for use with both dairy and plant-based milk. With non-dairy alternatives more popular than ever, it's set to be a popular choice for anyone who wants to enjoy oat, almond or soya milk without sacrificing foam quality.

The MilkEasy Plus offers four drink settings – hot cappuccino foam, cold cappuccino foam, milk foam and hot silky milk – giving you more options than many other milk frothers, which typically stick to just two or three modes.

But Aldi has just launched a full Modern Kitchen range, featuring two air fryers, an ice cream maker, blender, kitchen and toaster set, and much more – and you won’t believe the price.

Starting with its air fryers, Aldi has introduced dual and single basket options depending on the size of your household. For bigger families, the Combi Zone Air Fryer 9L is a dual-zone model with one large drawer that can be separated into two individual baskets using a divider.

The Combi Zone Air Fryer 9L comes with 10 pre-sets, and comes with pre-heat and keep warm functions. It can get up to 200°C for quick and intense cooking, and has an LED touchscreen with white LED lights, so while it might be cheap at just £49.99, it looks great and has a good amount of controls.

For smaller kitchens, Aldi’s Haptic Air Fryer is a single basket model with a 3.5-litre capacity. Available in black or cream, the Haptic Air Fryer has eight programmes, a digital LED display and a shake reminder so your food cooks evenly. It might also be the cheapest air fryer on the market at just £29.99, so it’s budget-friendly, too.

Other standouts from the Aldi Modern Kitchen range is its new Premium Ice Cream Maker. It looks a lot like the Ninja Creami but at just £69.99, it’s a third of the price, and still performs exceptionally well. It can make ice cream, sorbet, milkshakes and even frozen cocktails, and comes with a self-cleaning function to save you the trouble.

In typical Aldi style, that’s not all that it’s launched. The retailer has also introduced its Haptic Kettle and Toaster, both of which are priced at £12.99, and can be bought separately or together. They have similar designs and colours to match your kitchen aesthetic – personally, I’ve got my eye on the blue.

Yet another new colourful appliance that caught my eye was its High Speed Blending Set. With similar looks and functions as a Nutribullet blender, this blending set comes with 11 accessories so you can blend, crush and grind almost anything in it.

Aldi’s Modern Kitchen range is due to hit stores from 16th July, so if you’ve just moved house or want to redesign your kitchen on a budget, your local Aldi has you covered.

Shark's bestselling FlexBreeze HydroGo portable fan is finally back in stock on the brand's website after being sold out for more than a fortnight. At the moment, it's only available in Charcoal, with the other six colour options still showing as out of stock.

Right now, Shark's website is also the only place you can reliably buy one. Major retailers including Currys and John Lewis remain sold out, whilst the few listings on Amazon are either significantly above the usual retail price or won't arrive for several weeks.

That said, I wouldn't hang around for too long. Given how quickly the FlexBreeze HydroGo has been selling this summer, there's every chance it'll disappear again before long.

De'Longhi has expanded its popular Rivelia range with the launch of the new Rivelia Start. Arriving as a smaller and more affordable alternative to the original Rivelia, which launched in 2024, the new model keeps many of the popular features whilst reducing both its size and price.

Despite the lower price tag, the Rivelia Start still offers an impressive menu of 10 one-touch hot and cold drinks, including Cappuccino and Flat White. It also retains De'Longhi's Cold Brew function, allowing you to enjoy in as little as five minutes.

The De'Longhi Rivelia Start is available now from De'Longhi's online store for £599.99, compared to the original Rivelia's £749.99 launch price. It's available in Brown and Jade Green, with the latter proving especially popular on the original model.

Having reviewed the original Rivelia when it first launched, it's been interesting to see what De'Longhi has changed this time around. One of the biggest differences is that the LatteCrema Cool carafe is now optional rather than included in the box. If you enjoy iced milk drinks, you'll need to purchase it separately for £99.99, so it's worth factoring that into the overall cost.

That said, I was pleased to see the return of the Bean Switch System, which lets you swap between two different coffee beans without emptying the hopper. There are two interchangeable 250g bean hoppers included, making it easy to switch between different blends.

The Rivelia Start is also designed to be as user-friendly as possible. Instead of relying on a touchscreen, it uses a clear control panel with buttons that's easy to navigate, making it a great option for anyone new to the best bean-to-cup coffee machines.

Following the success of its Halo Pro, Ooni has just announced its latest stand mixer. The perfect companion to its line-up of pizza ovens, the Ooni Halo Core is smaller and lighter than its predecessor, and comes with an advanced dual-motor system to power its many accessories.

Ooni launched the Halo Pro Spiral Mixer in 2025, and it was one of my favourite products to test last year. In fact, I gave it five stars in my Ooni Halo Pro review, and found it the best stand mixer to make pizza dough, as well as cookies and cake mixture.

The only downside I could find with the Ooni Halo Pro was its size. While it didn’t take up a huge amount of space on my countertops, I found it heavy to maneuver. I don’t have it out all the time in my kitchen, so when I do use it, I definitely have to use some elbow grease to get it out of my cupboard and on to the counter.

But it looks like Ooni has taken this criticism on board and fixed it with its new Ooni Halo Core spiral stand mixer. With a similar design to the Halo Pro, the Ooni Halo Core is 25% smaller and 30% lighter than the original, making it much easier to move and store.

Using spiral mixing technology, the Ooni Halo Core has a unique way of mixing pizza dough to help develop the gluten, and produce springier, smoother and stronger dough. Like the original, the Ooni Halo Core uses a removable breaker bar, spiral dough hook and a rotating bowl to replicate the stretching and kneading process required to make good pizza dough.

The way the Ooni Halo Core mixes ensures your pizza dough gets a ‘dual-kneading’ action to help strengthen its gluten structure. Also handy for bread dough, this motion is powered by a dual-motor system that thoroughly works your dough without overheating the mixer.

Controls are located at the top of the Ooni Halo Core, including 20 adjustable speed levels between 60 - 300 RPM. It has a generous capacity which can mix over six pounds of dough which roughly translates to 10 12-inch pizzas.

Despite it being an expert at making dough, the Ooni Halo Core can also be used for other baking tasks. It comes with a range of stainless steel attachments, including a silicon-edge beater and a dual-geared whisk, as well as a clear splash guard and a silicon lid for proofing.

Officially launching from 4th August, the Ooni Halo Core will be priced at £499 and available to buy at Ooni in Foundry Black and Polar White colours.

Watch out, Meaco! Blueair has just launched its new CoolDrift Air Circulator Fan, a tabletop fan that looks mysteriously like Meaco’s popular line-up of air circulators. Backed by science, the Blueair CoolDrift Air Circulator Fan has smart sleep modes to help you sleep while using it at night, thanks to its ultra-quiet operation.

Earlier this month, Blueair launched the AlwaysCool fan from its Comfort Collection, the brand’s first-ever handheld fan. With comfort in mind, the AlwaysCool fans have a 32 hour battery life, and can be used on-the-go so you’re cool and comfortable while moving around.

I’ve covered fans for a while, and one of the biggest things people tell you not to do is sleep with a fan on at night. The main reason for this is the fan can be extremely noisy and the cold air can leave you feeling achy and sore the next day. De'Longhi is responsible for some of the best bean-to-cup coffee machines on the market, but that doesn't mean you have to spend a fortune to enjoy great coffee at home. Whilst its high-end models are packed with impressive features, including the recently reviewed Eletta Ultra, many of the brand's more affordable machines deliver a similar experience for hundreds of pounds less.

Why don't you always need to buy the most expensive coffee machine?

It's easy to assume that the most expensive model in a brand's lineup is automatically the best choice, but that's not always the case. Premium machines often come with extra features, larger displays or more drink options that many people simply won't use every day. If all you're after is consistently great coffee, you'll often find that a mid-range or entry-level model delivers a similar result for less money.

Manufacturers like De'Longhi tend to use the same brewing technology, grinders and core coffee systems across multiple models, with the biggest differences coming down to convenience features and design.

It's recommend to do your own research of course, but by choosing a model that suits your needs rather than one with a long feature list, you can save hundreds of pounds.

With the current temperatures in the UK, I wouldn't be surprised if installing permanent air conditioning in your home has crossed your mind at least once since the heatwave began.

Installing air conditioning is a much bigger investment than buying one of the best portable air conditioners, but it can make a huge difference if you're looking for a long-term cooling solution.

The final cost depends on the size of your home, how many rooms you want to cool and the type of system you choose, so I've broken down the typical prices to give you an idea of what to expect.

How much does it cost?

The most common option for cooling a single room is a split-system air conditioner, which typically costs between £1,500 and £3,000, including professional installation. These systems feature an indoor unit mounted on the wall, connected to an outdoor condenser, and are a popular choice for bedrooms and living rooms. One of our freelancers recently had an AC unit installed in his bedroom by BOXT, so it's worth checking out his experience if you're considering it.

If you want to cool multiple rooms, a multi-split system is the next step up. These systems connect several indoor units to a single outdoor unit and generally cost between £3,000 and £7,000, depending on how many rooms you're covering and how complicated the installation is.

For cooling your entire home, prices increase significantly. A fully ducted central air conditioning system can cost anywhere from £8,000 to £15,000 or more, especially if it's being installed in an existing property. These systems are more commonly fitted in new-build homes, where ductwork can be planned into the design from the start.

What else is there to consider?

There are also some additional costs to consider. Installation can become more expensive if pipework needs to travel a long distance, electrical upgrades are required or access to the property is challenging. Many homeowners also choose an annual servicing plan, which usually costs around £100 to £250 per year, to keep the system running efficiently.

Despite the upfront cost, permanent air conditioning is something many homeowners would recommend if they have the budget. With UK heatwaves becoming more frequent and temperatures continuing to rise, installing AC could be a way to future-proof your home rather than finding a temporary fix every summer.

Samsung has just announced the launch of its new Bespoke AI Washer Dryer, and it might actually make me look forward to doing my laundry! This 2-in-1 appliance conserves space in your home, as well as energy, as the machine comes with plenty of energy-saving features and credentials.

I have a smart meter in my home, and I always notice the days where I’ve done my laundry as my energy usage goes up significantly. Laundry machines, especially tumble dryers, use a lot of electricity which results in higher monthly bills, so a machine that can help manage these costs is a must for many households.

Samsung has clearly seen this, and is addressing this problem with its new Samsung Bespoke AI Washer Dryer. The brand has adapted the washer dryer with AI Ecobubble technology, a circulation pump that reduces your energy use by quickly turning your washing detergent into bubbles.

This action allows your detergent to wash fabrics more deeply and efficiently, so you can remove stubborn stains much quicker. It also means you can wash your clothes at lower temperatures between 20° and 30°, which has been shown to use less energy while avoiding laundry ‘casualties’ like shrinking and fading.

I’ve always been a sceptic when it comes to AI appliances, but the use of AI within the Samsung Bespoke AI Washer Dryer has actually impressed me, especially in terms of fabric care. The machine has two AI-powered cycles – Air Wash and AI Wash – that treat your clothes in a more automatic way.

Starting with AI Wash, it automatically senses the weight, soil level and softness of your washing load before adjusting the amount of water and detergent needed. It continues to make adjustments throughout the cycle, including soaking, rinsing and spinning times to better suit your laundry.

Air Wash is the cycle for your bedding and delicates. It refreshes these more sensitive fabrics without using water or detergent, and instead, blows hot air onto laundry – it’s like having a dry cleaner in your home!

I got to see Samsung’s range of Bespoke AI appliances in Milan earlier this year, including its line-up of washing machines and tumble dryers. I was incredibly impressed by its detergent dispenser and automatic cycles, as it really takes the stress out of washing, while also helping you save energy.

With the costs of appliances getting more expensive, it’s always handy to find a way to cut ongoing prices, and the Samsung Bespoke AI Washer Dryer seems like a good option for this. Its initial price, though, remains a mystery at the time of writing.

Samsung has launched the Samsung Bespoke AI Washer Dryer in 8kg - 11kg options in select markets. It’s expected to roll out globally in phases.

Shark has just launched its latest air purifier, featuring its long-lasting filter and advanced sensors. The new Shark BreatheClear with NeverChange6 Air Purifier is designed for medium-sized rooms, and is packed full of detection features to keep the air in your home clean and hygienic.

A newer feature that Shark has introduced to its range of air purifiers is something it calls a ‘NeverChange’ filter. The name is meant to be taken literally, as Shark states that users don’t need to change their filters for up to six years – see our Shark NeverChange 5 Air Purifier review for more details.

The filter within the Shark BreatheClear with NeverChange6 Air Purifier is its longest lasting yet, and it exceeds HEPA standards. The filter catches up to 99.98& of particles, including pollen, mould, dust, pet dander, odours and more. It also has a ‘debris defence’ pre-filter which protects the main filter and allows it to perform properly.

Covering rooms of up to 70m² with one air change an hour, the Shark BreatheClear with NeverChange6 Air Purifier is designed for medium-sized spaces. Measuring just 37.85cm in height, 26.67cm in length and 26.16cm in width, the Shark BreatheClear with NeverChange6 Air Purifier is surprisingly compact, and it only weighs 3.77kg so you can move it from room to room.

Air purifiers aren’t exactly the most exciting looking appliances on the market, but I like the design of the Shark BreatheClear with NeverChange6 Air Purifier – it looks a bit like a robot! My favourite part of its design is the high-resolution LCD screen at the front, which shows you air quality readings and updates in real-time.

Packed with advanced sensors – including motion and light – the Shark BreatheClear with NeverChange6 Air Purifier scans the air 3,600 times per hour. This allows the air purifier to automatically adjust its power and react quicker to particles, pollutants and chemical odours.

To manually adjust the Shark BreatheClear with NeverChange6 Air Purifier, you simply touch the buttons on the top of the device. No app is required and as mentioned, the screen displays everything you need to know, including air, humidity and temperature details. Users can also choose auto, manual and sleep mode depending on the time of day.

The Shark BreatheClear with NeverChange6 Air Purifier is available to buy now for £269.99 / $329.99 at SharkNinja. It’s currently available in a Dove colourway with more colours expected to launch later this year.

Panasonic has unveiled a new indoor pizza oven that's capable of cooking a 12-inch pizza in as little as three minutes. The new FlashXpress Indoor Pizza Oven Plus NB-G300 reaches temperatures of up to 400°C, allowing it to bake Neapolitan-style pizzas whilst also doubling as an air fryer, baker, roaster, broiler and grill.

The launch comes just a few weeks after Panasonic introduced its new Countertop Microwave NN-SF57RM, with both appliances showcasing the brand's signature blend of Japanese engineering and thoughtful design.

The FlashXpress Indoor Pizza Oven Plus is available now in the US for $449.99 from Panasonic's online store and Amazon. There's currently no word on a UK or European launch, but we'll keep you updated if that changes.

Designed to accommodate pizzas up to 12 inches in diameter, the oven supports a wide range of styles, including Neapolitan, New York-style, thin crust, deep dish and frozen pizzas. Dedicated cooking presets also automatically adjust the temperature and cooking performance for each style.

There's also a dedicated Steak Mode, paired with the included cast iron grill pan, making it a great option when the weather isn't suitable for firing up one of the best barbecues.

Panasonic also includes seven accessories in the box, including a pizza stone, pizza peel, air fry basket, wire rack, cast iron grill pan, grill pan handles and a removable crumb tray. The interior features a PFAS-free enamel coating that's designed to resist grease and food residue, helping make cleanup as easy as the cooking itself.

Another day, another new ice cream maker! Lidl has just announced the retailer will be adding the Silvercrest Premium Freezy Ice Cream Maker to the middle aisle of its stores – and it’s only £69.99!

Due to the insanely hot weather we’ve been having, people are doing everything they can to cool down. One of the best ways to do it – and a way to enjoy a sweet treat at the same time – is investing in an ice cream machine.

Ice cream makers have seen a huge rise in popularity lately, mainly due to the Ninja Creami which launched back in 2024. My favourite feature of the Silvercrest Premium Freezy Ice Cream Maker is ‘Extras’, the function which allows you to add chocolate chips, nuts and sprinkles to your ice cream. This is another feature inspired by the Ninja Creami, as is the design of the Silvercrest Premium Freezy Ice Cream Maker.

The control panel for the Silvercrest Premium Freezy Ice Cream Maker sits at the top of the device. It has an on/off button, and programme selection which comes with cute miniature icons. It looks the part and it’s surprisingly small so it won’t take up too much space in your kitchen or hosting area.

Watch out, AeroPress! Following its success in the US, the OXO Brew has finally landed in the UK. With a similar look and functionality to the iconic AeroPress, the OXO Rapid Brewer makes both hot and cold coffees in as little as five minutes.

For fans of drip coffee, the OXO Rapid Brewer immerses, brews and dispenses your coffee directly into your cup. Measuring just 26.67cm in height, 7.62cm in width and diameter, the OXO Rapid Brewer features a water chamber and carafe, and a stainless steel filter.

Within its construction – which also happens to be made from 50% recycled materials, the OXO Rapid Brewer has a built-in tamper and Rainmaker showerhead. The showerhead spreads water evenly through the coffee grounds to extract flavour in a more even way.

Typically with these types of coffee makers, they’re used to make hot coffee. But the OXO Rapid Brewer can make hot coffee in two minutes and cold brew in five minutes, the latter of which can be diluted to your tastes. It also makes up to three servings at a time.

I’m a big fan of the AeroPress and gave the Clear version five stars. As an AeroPress dupe – although it’s only £10 cheaper – the OXO Rapid Brewer is a more versatile coffee maker, and its cold brew functionality makes it ideal for summer iced coffees.

iRobot has officially entered a new product category with the launch of the Roomba Electro Plus. It arrives as a cordless, self-propelled hard floor cleaner that combines vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting, self-cleaning and self-drying into a single machine.

After announcing its bankruptcy before re-emerging as a privately held company, iRobot is clearly looking to strengthen its position in the market. Expanding beyond the best robot vacuums feels like a natural next step, and the Roomba Electro Plus could be the first of many new product categories for the brand.

The Roomba Electro Plus is available to pre-order now from iRobot's online store for $399.99, with first-time customers able to save 10% by signing up to the brand's email newsletter. There's no word yet on a UK or European launch.

One of the standout features is its electrolysed water technology, a feature that's starting to appear in more home appliances, including Xiaomi's recently announced smart washing machine. The system transforms ordinary tap water into a cleaning solution capable of eliminating 99.99% of household bacteria, viruses and fungi.

Interestingly, the Electro Plus launches alongside a brand new generation of Roomba robot vacuums, priced between $600 and $1,000. This shows the company is still committed to its core business whilst recognising that broadening its product lineup is key to staying competitive.

Forget Instant Pot – IKEA has just launched its very own multi-cooker as part of its TILLREDA collection. Available online and in stores, the new IKEA TILLREDA multi-cooker has 14 pre-set programmes, and acts as a rice, slow and multi-cooker all in one device.

Over the years, IKEA has emerged as so much more than just a retailer – although we did recently name it as Retailer of the Year in the T3 Awards 2026. For example, IKEA has quickly become a popular name for smart home devices, offering easy and budget-friendly smart bulbs, plugs, switches and sensors.

If you’ve ever been to an IKEA store, you’ll know it has full kitchen, dining and living room layouts that you can get installed in your home. While the brand offers large appliances like ovens and washing machines, IKEA isn’t as well known for its smaller kitchen gadgets, but I think the IKEA TILLREDA multi-cooker is a good sign that that could be changing.

Expanding its TILLREDA collection, which currently features portable induction hobs and microwaves, the IKEA TILLREDA multi-cooker is designed by Emile Jones, and offers plenty of programmes and cooking capacity. It comes with a two litre inner pot with measurement markings, a detachable lid, silicone feet and a steamer.

Like models from Instant Pot and Ninja, the IKEA TILLREDA multi-cooker has 14 pre-set programmes to choose from. These include slow cook, bake, boil, rice, soup, stew, fry/saute, steam, bread rise, yoghurt, porridge, oatmeal, keep warm and manual mode.

Essentially, you can cook almost any meal using the IKEA TILLREDA multi-cooker, whether you’re a multi-cooker expert or beginner. Its manual mode allows you to adjust the time and temperature to your preferences via the LED display and button controls.

Measuring 21.6cm in height and 25cm diameter, the IKEA TILLREDA multi-cooker is quite small, so will take up very little space in your kitchen. Despite being small, it can make up to two litres of food at a time. If you’re on a tight budget and want a do-it-all kitchen gadget, the IKEA TILLREDA multi-cooker looks like it’ll fit the bill.

If there’s one thing that the UK is known for, it’s having terrible weather. Simply put, the temperature and climate tends to be cold, grey and rainy, which is why only about 5% of UK houses have built-in air conditioning units. Instead, portable air conditioners and fans are more commonly used in homes.

But over the past few years, the weather has been getting hotter, and many people have started to look for permanent cooling solutions. But another drawback to installing a full air conditioner is that they stick out like a sore thumb, and do nothing for the aesthetics of your home.

Now, Daikin, best known for its HVAC products, has expanded its Stylish air-to-air heat pump range with five new finishes. Now available in eight different styles, you can now get a Daikin air conditioner in leather, wood and fabric-inspired designs to help manage your home’s temperature while looking less of an eyesore.

Daikin’s Stylish air conditioner is designed for year-round use, and uses an integrated thermal sensor to scan the room it's in to detect different temperature fluctuations. From there, it spreads air through the space and targets specific zones that need extra heating or cooling.

As it cools or heats your home, the Daikin Stylish air conditioner has Flash Streamer technology that allows it to also work as an air purifier. It continuously purifies the air in your home, removing and breaking down allergens and odours to leave your house feeling fresher and cooler.

To avoid droughts and uneven cooling, the Daikin Stylish air conditioner also uses the Coanda effect to guide air along walls and ceilings. It definitely gives a chill but in a more natural way so it doesn’t feel like you’re walking into a freezer!

As you may expect, an integrated air conditioner isn’t a small cost, but the Daikin Stylish air conditioner is extremely energy efficient so it can reduce your ongoing usage costs. It also comes with smart controls, including the Daikin Onecta app and Alexa and Google Home voice assistants, so you can use it hands-free.

Instead of a big block unit in a bright, harsh colour, you can now get the Daikin Stylish air conditioner in natural colours, including light and oak-style wood, dark brown leather, and grey and blue fabrics. The actual unit itself also measures just 189mm deep so it’s extremely slim, too.

The one thing I’ve hated about the recent UK heatwaves is how hot my house has been, so investing in an air conditioner is my next step to manage the heat in my home. I think getting one that doesn’t stand out, like a Daikin Stylish air conditioner, is sure to encourage more people to make the investment to manage the rising temperatures.

Xiaomi has expanded its laundry lineup with the new Mijia Washing Machine Pro Super Electrolytic Smart Drum 10kg, featuring the brand's innovative electrolysis function. Using a small electrical current to split water into its components, the technology is designed to help eliminate bacteria and enhance fabric brightness.

The brand launched the Mijia Washing Machine Pro Super Electrolytic Smart Wash and Dry in January, which is a more advanced (and bigger) version of this new model. Both models are currently exclusive to China, but Xiaomi already sells washing machines in parts of Europe, so we could still see both or either launch more widely in the future.

The new model is available now in China for 2,699 yuan (just under £300) and we'll be keeping an eye out for any news of an international release.

Alongside the electrolysis technology, the washing machine also has an automatic detergent dosing system. It detects the size of each laundry load and dispenses detergent with an accuracy of 0.75ml, although you can still override the settings if you want to tailor the wash for particularly dirty clothes.

There are plenty of wash programmes to choose from, including a 36-minute deep-clean cycle for heavily soiled items, and a 12-minute quick wash for freshening up lightly worn clothes.

Houses in the UK aren’t built for hot weather, but it’s becoming a more common occurrence this time of year. Every time it happens, fans and air conditioners instantly go out of stock. So surely it’s time to prepare in advance?

Unless you can justify a full installation, a portable air conditioning unit is a simple way to get your house or room cool. Looking much like an oversized dehumidifier, they blast out cold air and suck out the hot air, sending it outside through an exhaust hose at the back.

Not all portable air conditioning units are equal, however, and De’Longhi is one of the biggest names around. Its latest flagship model is the Pinguino GentleJet Inverter. Not only is this the brand’s most powerful portable air conditioning unit, but it also employs a unique inverter technology to provide more efficient cooling.

So how does this king penguin (Pinguino is Italian for penguin) hold up against an English heatwave? I put the unit to the test through the recent hot weather to find out.

Price and availability

The De'Longhi Pinguino GentleJet Inverter is priced at £999.99 in the UK (roughly $1300) and €1049.90 in Europe. Due to high demand right now, units are sold out in most stores, including the De'Longhi website. However, I've been assured more stock is coming soon.

Design and features

The GentleJet Inverter looks almost identical to the standard GentleJet model in that it’s a beautifully designed monolithic unit with a subtle LED display built into the side, so it’s almost invisible when it’s turned off. The top features a curved cover, with a gap underneath from where the air blasts out as standard. However, a vent also lifts from the top to circulate the air more widely around the room.

The unit stands much bigger than I expected, closer to the height of a washing machine than a dehumidifier. For its performance, though, this is pretty small and light. The GentleJet Inverter weighs just under 31kg, so not the lightest to lift, but it has two handles and is mounted on wheels, so you can easily wheel it into position. While I was testing the unit, I moved it to different rooms to cool down, either my office, the living room, or the bedroom.

The inverter technology allows the unit to maintain a constant temperature by adjusting the speed of the compressor. Most air conditioners switch on and off constantly to keep the temperature at a certain level. By reducing the need to constantly do this, the inverter can keep a more level temperature and reduce energy consumption.

The cooling capacity of this unit is 13,000 BTU per hour (British Thermal Units), which is 3.3kW and suitable for rooms up to 130 cubic metres. If you don’t need anything this powerful, a 7,000-9,000 BTU device is more than enough for most bedrooms or office spaces.

With this size of unit, though, there should be no problem cooling almost any room, or having any issues with the 35+ degree heat we were experiencing in Bath.

Installation

As with most air con units, the GentleJet Inverter has an integrated hose attached to the back, which can be extended to reach a window or outlet. It comes with a range of attachments, including a sealable connection if you want to attach it to a permanent vent, and a window kit, which suits a sliding or vertically opening window.

The problem is that most homes in the UK have hinged, outwardly opening windows, and there’s no simple solution in the box for this. You can still place the hose through the open window but the window remains open, reducing the effectiveness of the air con unit.

After a little research, I discovered two options that you can buy. The first is a custom-cut piece of Perspex that covers the full open window, with a hole the exact size for the hose cut into it. The second is a cheaper and more universal option, which creates a sort of tent out of the window opening with a zippable gap, through which you can place the hose. I went for the second option and found it very effective.

In use

Once the air con unit is in place, you simply plug it in and turn on the power. There are controls on the unit for the fan speed and the mode, which switches between cooling, dehumidifying and just a fan. In dehumidifying mode, the unit can remove up to 73 litres per day and will either expel through the exhaust hose or can be connected to a water hose at the bottom of the unit.

Three controls can only be accessed via the included remote control: the raising of the top vent to circulate the air more widely around the room, an eco mode and a silent mode. The silent mode reduces the noise of the device, making it quieter for watching TV, having a meeting, or even sleeping.

There’s also a timer mode, which can be used for all of the modes, to automatically turn the device off again, with settings up to 24 hours. Unusually for a flagship home device, there’s no option to connect this to your home network for remote monitoring or operation, which is a bit of a shame.

The silent mode is far from whisper-silent and still clocks in around 54db, but it’s considerably quieter than with the unit on full power, which is around 64db. I used the unit mostly in the bedroom and had no problem sleeping through the fans in silent mode, though lighter sleepers not used to air con units may struggle.

Unlike some dehumidifiers and fans, there’s no option to turn off the display for a night mode, so it can really light up the room. With this size of unit, it’s more suited to a larger living room area than a bedroom anyway, but it’s worth considering if that’s what you’re planning.

Most importantly, the GentleJet Inverter lived up to its promise and cooled the room in minutes. It did take considerably longer in the larger living room, with the exhaust hose unsealed through an open door. But even then, within the space of an hour, it brought the temperature right down.

When it comes to the amount of power this unit uses, the specs still list a maximum input power of 1035W. Of course, that’s pretty efficient when compared to the air output of 3.3kW, but it’s still similar to other 10-12k BTU portable air conditioners.

Thanks to the inverter technology, however, once the temperature is reached, this device is rarely working at maximum power. And when running at a lower speed or maintaining a temperature, the power usage is much less. De’Longhi claims that this tech makes the GentleJet Inverter up to 45% more efficient. When just the fan is running, the unit only uses around 10W.

Should I buy the De'Longhi Pinguino GentleJet Inverter?

If you need a seriously powerful portable air conditioner unit, the De’Longhi GentleJet Inverter is both efficient and compact for its performance. It’s the ultimate choice if you want the best an air con can offer.

Thanks to the inverter technology, this unit is quieter and more efficient than an equivalent-sized unit. That means it can save you money and cause less of a distraction when in use.

Unless you have a particularly large house, most rooms could probably be served with a smaller air con than this one. However, if you need the extra power or just want the best there is, you can’t go far wrong with the GentleJet Inverter.

I would have loved to have seen a night-time mode (to turn off the screen) and a better UK window kit, but otherwise, this is a winner.

Aldi has launched a new beer dispenser machine as part of its Specialbuys range this week. With the World Cup taking place and temperatures set to climb into the 30s over the next week or so, the timing couldn't be much better.

The Ambiano Beer Dispenser Machine uses a semiconductor refrigeration system and is designed for 6-litre kegs, which is the standard size for this type of home beer dispenser. Whilst Aldi isn't selling its own kegs, the machine is designed to work with PerfectDraft kegs thanks to its similar tap connection system.

The Ambiano Beer Dispenser Machine arrived at Aldi this week for £109.99, but it's already been reduced to just £79.99, making it one of the cheapest ways to enjoy draught beer at home. However, as always, I'd recommend checking the store stock checker before making the trip.

We've previously tested some of the biggest names in the category, including the Philips PerfectDraft and the Beerwulf Blade. Whilst the PerfectDraft is the more affordable option, it still costs close to £200, making Aldi's machine a fraction of the price.

Before you buy, it's worth taking a look at the range of kegs available for PerfectDraft-compatible systems. With plenty of different beers to choose from, the choice of drinks might be what ultimately convinces you that a home beer dispenser deserves a spot in your setup.

Given the spate of heatwaves hitting Britain of late, investing in one of the best fans feels like a necessity. As the temperature soar, many of us will look for ways of keeping cool.

The main feature of this unit is the TurboWind cooling system, which can deliver up to 10m/s of breeze. It's a pretty impressive spec, made even more impressive with the 18m max distance for cooling.

That's paired up with an ultrasonic misting element. Unlike other misting fans, which can leave you or your surfaces soggy, this is designed to be so fine that it simply integrates with the other particles in your air, cooling the room as a result.

Elsewhere, you'll find a night mode which drops the decibel level down to just 20dB, which is perfect if you're wanting to keep the peace while you keep cool. There's even a mobile app, which allows you to control every aspect of the unit from your handset. A physical remote is also included, if that's more your style.

Dreo TurboCool Misting Fan 765S review: Performance

As someone who previously only had a cheap – and broken – pedestal fan, switching this on for the first time in near-40° heat was a moment of pure nirvana. At the highest setting – the fan offers speeds from one to 12 – it's capable of offering a decent amount of cooling on its own.

It actually took me a few days to try the misting element, but I sure am glad I did. Once you've used it, you'll really struggle to go back to a normal fan, with that added bit of moisture doing an exceptional job of dropping the temperature in the room.

I was really nervous about spray and moisture, but those concerns were totally unnecessary. In practice, the mist is so fine that you'll never notice it unless you place your hand directly on top of the outlet.

There are four different levels of misting, though I tended to simply opt for the highest setting and the biggest impact. The system will also notify you of the humidity in the room, which is handy if you're looking to keep things consistent.

Control is effortless thanks to a touchscreen top panel, complete with buttons for each of the settings you'd look for. You'll be able to cycle through modes, increase or decrease the fan speed, set the mist level, set the rotation and much more.

There's also a brilliant mobile app, which offers more of the same. It's incredibly intuitive, and makes it effortless to adjust without having to get up.

There is also a physical remote included, which mirrors most of the functions on the top panel. Personally, I found that to be a little redundant, but it will suit some people who don't want to be tethered to a phone.

My only other gripe here is in the rotation of the fan. It is exceptionally wide, spanning almost 180° as it turns. Some may see that as a benefit, but it made it tough to keep the energy centred where I wanted it, and not blowing various bits and bobs off of tables and shelves. I'd like to see an element of control over how wide the rotation is, to combat this.

Dreo TurboCool Misting Fan 765S review: Verdict

Still, those are some fairly minor gripes. Overall, this product has been a godsend during the excessive heat, allowing me to keep cool in spite of the temperatures.

If you're in the market for a cooling solution which simply works, with no messing, this is the one to buy. The TurboCool misting element is no gimmick, plummeting the temperature in any given room when you need it most.

Dreo TurboCool Misting Fan 765S review: Also Consider

The market for misting fans is getting broader all the time, so there are definitely options. For those seeking a similar package offered here, but simply smaller and cheaper, I'd recommend checking out the Dreo TurboCool Misting Fan 516S. It distils all of the same energy into a more compact package.

If you're looking for a more well-known brand, try the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo. That snagged a five-star rating when our reviewer got his hands on it, and should be a capable competitor.

If you haven't noticed already, the heat is making a comeback, with parts of the UK set to see temperatures climb to 30°C and beyond over the next week. However, before you rush out and spend hundreds on a portable air conditioner, grab your fan and try this simple trick instead.

The best fans don't actually lower the temperature of a room – they cool you by circulating air across your skin, helping sweat evaporate more quickly. The problem is, if your room is already full of warm air, your fan is simply moving that hot air around, which isn't going to make the space feel much cooler.

Instead, try pointing your fan out of an open window or towards the doorway of your room. It might sound counterintuitive, but this helps push the hot air outside, allowing cooler evening air to flow back in naturally. It's a simple way to improve ventilation and stop your room from holding onto heat long after the sun has gone down.

I first came across this trick on TikTok and mentioned it in a recent article about the three things that helped me survive the last UK heatwave. Since trying it for myself, I've completely changed the way I use my fan, and it's especially effective in the evening when the house has been soaking up heat all day.

Tapo has quietly listed the RV50 Omni on its website as a more affordable alternative to the flagship RV50 Pro Omni, which launched earlier this year. Both models look almost identical and share many of the same standout features, including Tapo's anti-tangle brush system that automatically cuts and clears wrapped hair as it cleans.

The RV50 Pro Omni earned four stars in our review, although we found its 15,000Pa suction slightly underwhelming compared to some rivals. The new RV50 Omni features 12,000Pa of suction, making a small compromise on power in exchange for a lower price.

Both robot vacuums are now listed on Tapo's online store, with the new RV50 Omni expected to launch on 30th July.

In terms of pricing, the RV50 Pro Omni originally launched at a hefty £749.99, but it wasn't long before discounts brought it down to around £400. The new RV50 Omni has an RRP of £499.99, but it's launching with an introductory offer of £319.99, so even the two models' pricing is very similar.

Looking more closely, both use the same chassis, self-cleaning dock, LiDAR navigation and many of Tapo's cleaning technologies. The biggest omission on the RV50 Omni is DeepEdge Adaptive Mopping, which allows one of the mop pads on the Pro model to extend outwards and clean right up against skirting boards and into corners.

That said, the standard RV50 Omni still looks like excellent value. If you don't mind sacrificing the extending mop pad and a little extra suction power, you're getting a robot vacuum that delivers most of the flagship experience for significantly less.

On the other hand, if the price gap between the two models narrows during future sales, I'd be tempted to spend the extra and opt for the Pro. It really comes down to which features matter most to you.

For anyone who lives in the UK, and especially London, the last few weeks have been... hard. Temperature records have been broken, flats and people are overheated, and the less said about the Tube, the better.

In countries across Europe that are not well-equipped to deal with extreme heat for days or weeks on end, including a general lack of air conditioning in many homes, breaking into the 30s is tough. But that doesn't mean there aren't some effective steps you can take. Even in a new-build block of flats like mine, simple changes can help keep average temperatures down, making life more bearable.

With more and more extreme weather and hotter summers on the horizon in the years to come, getting your home prepared for it now is a good idea. We aren't just talking about buying the best fan or a portable AC unit, either, but changes that anyone can make in rented flats, council houses, or anywhere else that you call home.

Of course, a good fan still makes a big difference, but today, I'm taking a look at five simple things that will make the next heatwave a breeze.

Install no-drill external shade

One of the fundamental problems in a heatwave, especially if your building is east or south-facing, is that once the sun comes in, there's no going back – the damage has been done.

In my flat, we get direct sun from around 6am until midday, and the solar effect raises temperature by four to five degrees at a minimum in the summer. (The flip side is that, in the winter, morning sun is lovely.)

Stopping the sun is, of course, a very tricky problem, and to do so I've turned to a retractable awning, which sits on tension poles on my balcony. The model I use is from VOUNOT on Amazon, but there are plenty of options at places like B&Q and The Range, depending on your exact needs.

For renters like me, look for retractable, weighted, tension-mounted, clamp-mounted, or balcony-rail-mounted options rather than drilling into brickwork. I went for a vertical awning to cover the most glass.

You might need permission from your landlord, freeholder, or managing agent, but the footprint is minimal and there’s no drilling into the structure. Just make sure you don't leave it up in high winds or block a fire escape.

Cutting out the powerful morning sun has made a huge difference and regularly keeps my flat cooler further into the day.

Add temporary window coverings

But what about people who live in buildings without a balcony or outside space to put up an awning? Fear not, there are some pretty good options.

Suction-cup blackout blinds, thermal curtains on tension rods, removable reflective film, static-cling solar film, or even temporary foil-style emergency hacks can all work.

While these are not as effective as stopping the sun from getting inside the glass, they are much easier to implement and can be nearly as effective. Like in southern Europe, sun-facing rooms should be "shut down" during the day: the darker the room, the less solar energy is getting in. When temperatures are cooler, or the sun has moved on, slowly re-open the room to daylight.

Use your windows properly

During a heatwave, changing your behaviour can be just as important as having the right gadgets and gizmos like a portable AC unit.

To help monitor your space, get a simple indoor/outdoor thermometer or smart temperature sensor for accurate readings on how hot your room is compared to the outside world.

If it’s 29°C inside and 32°C outside in the mid-morning, opening the doors may feel intuitive but can make things worse. If it’s 28°C inside and 23°C outside at 9pm, that’s your chance to flush the flat.

Keeping on top of this is especially useful for flats with one main exposure, east or west-facing glazing, poor cross-ventilation, or ground-floor security concerns.

Using your windows and blinds to shut out the heat is just as important as ventilating the flat and could be make a few degrees difference on really scorching days.

Position fans strategically

A good fan like the MeacoFan Sefte or the Dyson Pure Cool can make a heatwave much more manageable, but where you put it matters.

A fan doesn’t cool a room like air con; it cools you by moving air over your skin and can help shift cooler air through the flat at the right time.

In broad terms, aim the fan across the room, towards a wall or ceiling for circulation, or near a window when outside air is cooler, like in the evening. Avoid pulling hot daytime air into the flat, which likely means keeping fans away from open windows or doors during especially hot weather.

For small flats, an air circulator can be better than a huge pedestal fan because it moves air around awkward rooms without taking up loads of floor space.

Tower fans can be especially useful in tight spaces, but avoid having a fan blasting directly at you for hours, especially in very hot rooms.

Reduce indoor heat sources

A fairly "boring but effective" trick is to limit the amount of internal heat sources in the room you want to keep cool.

Things like your oven, hob, gaming PC, TV, dehumidifier, tumble dryer, dishwasher, and even clusters of chargers can all add heat when the room is already struggling, especially taken together.

Try to keep these things for when the room is naturally cooler, like the evenings or at night, or swap them for lower-heat alternatives.

For example, an air fryer produces less heat than an oven, cold meals work better on really hot days, and running the dishwasher during cooler parts of the day can make a difference to average temperatures.

None of these fixes will turn a heatwave into winter, but together they can stop your flat becoming unbearable before lunchtime.

Another UK heatwave is hitting this week. While it won’t be as hot as the last one we experience, temperatures are expected to get up to 32° so unsurprisingly, many people will be looking for ways to keep cool in the heatwave.

I don’t know about you, but the thing I hated the most about the last heatwave was how hot my house was. While sitting in front of a fan was effective at cooling me down, the overall temperature in my house was almost unbearable, so I decided to look into ways to solve this problem.

It turns out that many of the appliances around my house – and yours – generate a lot of heat and are actually making your house hotter. So, to help you manage this week’s heatwave, here are five appliances in your home that you should switch off to keep your home cooler.

Before I get into the list, it’s worth keeping in mind that if you’re not using an appliance, you should completely switch them off. Appliances on standby still use a small amount of electricity and they emit heat, so turning them off from the outlet can help manage the heat in your home.

1. Ovens and hobs

Cooking in a heatwave is extremely uncomfortable, as the heat from your appliances can feel intense alongside the outside weather. Ovens and hobs are the main examples of cooking appliances that produce a large amount of heat and hold on to residual heat for longer, and therefore, warm up your home.

If you can, try to avoid using your oven or hob during a heatwave. This will undoubtedly be tricky for some, so check out these 5 ways to cook in a heatwave when it’s too hot to cook for guidance.

2. Kettles

Many will switch hot cups of tea and coffee to iced versions during a heatwave. However, I like drinking hot drinks even in hot temperatures, so if you’re like me, you’re probably still using your kettle every morning. But as you might expect, your kettle is an appliance that adds to the heat of your home.

As it boils water, kettles use an intense amount of heat and electricity. As steam comes out the spout, this increases the heat in the air. Many of today’s kettles also have digital displays which generate more heat, so switching to an iced tea or coffee and turning off the kettle can prevent that.

3. Gaming consoles

Unless you’re a hardcore gamer or stream as part of your job, it’s unlikely that you use your gaming console throughout the day. When you’re not using it, be sure to turn it off – as well as your TV or streaming box – as they produce a consistent amount of heat, even in standby.

4. Chargers

My phone got intensely hot during the last heatwave, especially when it was on charge. Chargers of all kinds – phone, laptop and even adapters – expel a huge amount of heat, and they can even be hot to the touch. When not in use, make sure to remove them from an outlet as they will remain hot and generate heat and electricity. Not only does this make your home hot but it’s also a waste as you’re not charging anything.

5. Tumble dryer

Using a tumble dryer when the weather is hot might sound ridiculous but I’ve had to resort to this as I don’t have a washing line or clothes horse. I’ve definitely noticed on the days when I use my tumble dryer that the spot it's in in my house is much hotter. They produce a lot of heat and are energy guzzlers so if you can, avoid using your tumble dryer in the heatwave.

I'm usually the first person to tell you not to spend more than you need to. There are hundreds of products out there where cheaper alternatives are just as good – the Dyson Airwrap is a perfect example, and I've tested countless cordless lawn mowers that have outperformed rivals costing twice as much.

The best robot vacuum cleaners, though? That's where I draw the line.

After testing more robot vacuums than I can remember, I've come to the conclusion that this is one category where you really do get what you pay for. That doesn't mean you need to spend thousands on the latest flagship model, but I'd always recommend stretching your budget if you can.

The biggest giveaway of a cheap robot vacuum isn't actually the suction power – it's the navigation.

A robot vacuum is supposed to clean your home without you thinking about it, so if it can't work out where it's going, it completely defeats the point. I've tested budget models that spend half their time bouncing off furniture, cleaning the same patch of floor three times and somehow still missing an entire corner of the room.

Manufacturers love throwing around terms like LiDAR and AI nowadays, but not all systems are created equal. A premium robot uses those technologies properly, creating an accurate map of your home, recognising obstacles and cleaning in logical rows. A cheaper model might tick the same boxes on paper, but the experience can be worlds apart.

That said, suction power is still important, especially if you want a robot vacuum that lasts. I hear about so many people that buy a certain model because it's £200 cheaper than the competition, only to find it struggles to pick up pet hair or clean carpets properly six months later.

Personally, I wouldn't even look at a model with less than around 20,000Pa these days. Suction naturally drops as components wear over time, so it makes sense to start with something that's got plenty in reserve. That said, don't get distracted by massive numbers either. A robot claiming 40,000Pa isn't automatically better if its mapping is poor or it gets tangled in charging cables every other day.

At the end of the day, a robot vacuum isn't just another appliance – it's supposed to remove a chore from your life entirely. If you're going to spend money on something that's designed to save you time every single day, I strongly recommend spending a bit more and buy one that does exactly that.

Bladeless fans have become extremely popular since Dyson invented them back in 2008. Most Dyson fans have this design which features a large, looping shape with no hidden blades, so they expel intense cooling air in a safer way.

Many other fan brands have been inspired by this style, including Beldray with its new Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan. This 2-in-1 fan can be used to keep your home comfortable all year round, thanks to its dual heating element that offers both heating and cooling functions.

Starting with its fan settings, the Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan has nine fan speeds, and oscillates by 80°. Using its BLDC motor, users can select the temperature from 5-35°. As a heater, the Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan has 2000W heating power and four heat speeds to choose from.

Measuring 84cm x 22.5cm x 22.5cm, the Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan is surprisingly compact and fits nicely in any room. It has an LED digital display just underneath the main blades, so you can manually adjust the settings on the fan or via its remote control.

My favourite feature of the Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan is its LED atmosphere light which is located at the bottom of the fan. It offers blue, red and green colours that are designed to set the mood, and indicate what setting you’re using.

The Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan comes with a 1-8 hour timer, so it can be used throughout a full night for bedtime use. Once you set the timer, the fan will turn itself off to conserve energy. But in terms of price, the Beldray 2-in-1 Bladeless Fan is much more affordable than other models on the market, particularly the Dyson fans that it’s no doubt inspired by.

Shark has expanded its PowerDetect line-up with the PowerDetect Transformer, and it’s a real triple threat. The new 3-in-1 vacuum cleaner is the brand’s most versatile model yet, turning into upright, stick and handheld models with a simple click.

I’ve tested many vacuums during my time as T3’s Home Editor, including types like upright, cordless, stick and handheld. I always come across one major problem which is that switching a vacuum cleaner into a handheld one is fiddly and requires far too many accessories.

But the Shark PowerDetect Transformer seems to have solved that problem, and made it far easier to switch vacuum cleaner types and modes. As a 3-in-1 device, the Shark PowerDetect Transformer starts as an upright vacuum with a removable canister and bin that you can detach with a click. From there, it turns into a stick vacuum which can easily fold down to get underneath furniture.

But that’s not all. The Shark PowerDetect Transformer turns into a handheld vacuum by simply removing the main wand, so you can use it to clean your stairs and inside your car. It comes with a crevice tool accessory for handheld use, which is much simpler and more streamlined than other handheld vacuums which usually come with too many accessories.

The main benefit from this clever design – other than getting three cleaning types in one – is that each mode has its own use. As an upright vacuum, the Shark PowerDetect Transformer has a stronger suction which makes it better suited for cleaning carpets. As a stick vacuum, the Shark PowerDetect Transformer is slimmer and more lightweight, so it’s easier to get into hard-to-reach areas and for you to carry around.

When removing the main bin from the upright vacuum, the Shark PowerDetect Transformer uses a smaller dust bin when in stick and handheld mode which is located near the handle. Once you assemble it into upright mode, the smaller bin automatically empties into the main bin so you only have to empty one bin.

With HEPA filtration and anti-allergen seal technology, the bin traps dirt, allergens and dust, and prevents odours.

Within the main head is a dual brushroll system which picks up dirt, dust and other debris. It uses Shark’s Anti Hair Wrap technology to stop hair from getting stuck in the brushhead, and Reveal and Detect technologies to illuminate hidden mess and respond to different floor types and dirt levels.

The Shark PowerDetect Transformer is available to buy for $529.99 at SharkNinja. As of writing, UK pricing and availability has yet to be announced.

The T3 Awards 2026 are back, and this year, we’re pulling out all the stops as this award season also coincides with T3’s 30th anniversary. This past year has been full of exciting innovations across tech, active and home, so to kick off this week’s announcement, we’re starting in the kitchen and out in the garden.

This year’s Kitchen and Garden Award winners, highly commended and nominees have really impressed us. One of the biggest air fryer trends in the past year has been stacked baskets where two chambers or drawers are stacked atop one another rather than sitting side by side. This space-saving design is already ingenious, but the brand that did it best and is now winning the T3 Award for Best Air Fryer is the Philips 4000 Series Stacked Dual Basket Air Fryer.

Philips’ first air fryer with a stacked design is truly impressive. Its compact size means it takes up minimal space in your kitchen, although its black and gold finish will make you want to display it anyway. The dual baskets cook a great deal of food, and their viewing windows, built-in lights and intuitive controls make everyday cooking that much easier.

One of our newer awards, Best Fragrance was only recently added to the T3 Awards in 2025. Acqua di Parma won it last year, and it’s only gone and done it again this year – and for its 110th anniversary, might I add.

Easily snatching the crown for one of best men’s fragrances you can buy, Acqua di Parma Colonia Il Profumo Millesimato has classic notes of citrus and florals. It’s packed full of ylang ylang which was harvested by the brand in Madagascar in 2024. It’s a spring-summer scent that’s fresh, complex and bound to become a staple in many people’s collections.

2025-2026 might have been one of the best years for watch launches, featuring truly innovative designs and complications from the likes of TAG Heuer, Rolex, Tudor and more. But the watch that caught our eye the most and earned the title of Best Watch at the T3 Awards 2026 is the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Chronographe Mysterieux.

Debuted at Watches and Wonders 2026, the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Chronographe Mysterieux features a chronograph without subdials. The clean yet precise dial is displayed in blue, but it’s the case that hides all the technical details. At 7:30, a monopusher sits and activates the chronograph which reveals a gold pair of hands at 12 o’clock. Push it again and the chronograph stops, and again for the hands to reset to current time. It’s remarkable yet simply displayed which makes it more exciting.

Kenwood has announced its new Dusk and Dawn collection of kettles and toasters. Designed to bring out the natural tones of your kitchen, the Kenwood Dusk and Dawn range has me ready to replace my old appliances for a new, fresh set.

Two appliances that have stood the test of time are kettles and toasters. While almost every other kitchen gadget has had smart technology built into them, the humble kettle and toaster are still the most commonly used appliances in the average household. Case in point, I use both every single day.
