It's been delayed and renamed but now YouView is finally coming to the UK. Formerly known as Project Canvas, YouView is a a freeview box that allows you to watch channels and view internet catch-up on demand goodness.

Signed-up partners include the big four, BBC 1, BBC 2, ITV and Channel 4 along with TalkTalk Arqiva and Channel 5. You'll not only be able to watch your favourite tv shows and catch-up on demand but also pause, rewind and record live TV shows on the box.

There's no monthly contract or upgrades, once you've paid for the box you're good to go. Word is too that you'll be able to download apps created especially for the YouView box.

No word yet on exact price or release date but it's likely to be in 2012 with the final round of testing happening now.
