Sony has broken free of the Ericsson shackles with its first smartphones released solely under the new Sony Mobile Communications company and leading the charge is the Sony Xperia S This is an Android 2.3 device (upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich eventually) and will come to the UK in March boasting an iPhone 4S-like design. There's also a 12-megapixel camera with super-fast shutter speed that promises to eliminate shot-to-shot lag experienced when taking pictures on most smartphones. Videophiles can also shoot videos at 1080p or 720p. Under the bonnet there'll be a 1.5GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor and 32GB built-in storage.
