Griffin iTrip Auto in-car iPod kit

iTrip was the first iPod transmitter to hit the market. We expected bigger things from it.

Disappointingly, when it comes to the nitty-gritty of broadcast quality, the iTrip Auto's no better than any other model. Player's Ball by Outkast is generally listenable, but quieter moments reveal background hiss.

It's at least simple to use, thanks to a clear LCD display and chunky, responsive buttons. It works with all dockable iPods, but the long lengths of cable make things a bit messy and there is no mount for your iPod to sit in.

You also don't get any presets to play with, but setting a frequency is so quick and easy that this isn't really an issue. One unique feature is the option to switch to mono sound, which gives you a cleaner signal - use it with audio books, spoken word stuff and punk rock, and you'll cut the background buzz down.
