ViaMichelin X-950T Satnav

Get to your destination with ease - stopping off at a Michelin recommended restaurant on the way...

This is the smallest satnav around - and the only one you'd be happy to carry around. The GPS aerial is ultra-powerful - unlike the others, it even locks on indoors.

Icon-driven menus on the 3.5-inch touchscreen are clear. A cheeky Michelin Man peeks over the top of the menus - although adjusting settings feels so sluggish, you may want to punch his big gob. It takes 15 secs to identify a postcode, and manages to misplace half of Brittany!

Route calculation is average, and routes are not clearly displayed. Some instructions - such as "take the third exit at the roundabout" - are poorly translated.

This couldn't be more French if it tried: it's slow and finicky, yet knows about the finer things in life - Michelin-recommended establishments are among the easily-navigated points of interest. It may have some annoying quirks but it's great for pottering lazily through Europe.
