HP iPAQ rz1710 Navigator satnav
The PDA satnav that's more iCaq than iPaq.
It may be one of the smallest PDA satnavs around but HP has cheated slightly. Instead of having the GPS reciever integrated into the PDA, it's built into the car cradle instead, a "solution" that's both ugly and awkward.
It's not difficult to see where you're heading on the 3D map, as it offers simple instructions on what's coming up, but it does miss the odd voice prompt. You're also lumbered with the last version of Pocket PC. That's not a major problem if you just want to keep your contacts up to date, but still annoying on a new device. Wireless connections are also a no-no, meaning no Web surfing.
This doesn't impress us. We don't like the way the GPS receiver is integrated into the car cradle and the missing voice prompts are annoying. Compared to the Fujitsu-SiemensPocket Loox N520, it can't cut the mustard.
