Nokia E61
Big-boned, but full of brawn. Nokia's QWERTY-equipped wonderphone's a touch of class.
Nokia's wide-faced effort is equipped with decent email, a full QWERTY keyboard and Wi-Fi to boot.
Email is even easier to set up than on the Blackberry; entering details and downloading the required software takes less than five minutes, and our emails were soon whizzing and crashing into our inbox like a Frank Lampard shot into Row Z of the stands.
It's not the style guru's choice, but it's what you can do with it that counts. The huge screen lets you see both sender and header easily, and scrolling is a cinch with the sturdy stick.
Web-surfing is a joy thanks to Nokia's cunning browser. Zoomed-out and -in views of the page appear simultaneously as you scroll, with a red square indicating where you are on the former - that's a godsend on long pages. You can switch from WAP to Wi-Fi for a hotspot-assisted speed boost. The screen, though a bit murky, is still better than the rest.
A scroll wheel would've been nice as another way to navigate menus, but overall, this wide Web walker is just the ticket for both emailing and surfing.
