Nokia 6680

Little more than a stop-gap until the N91 is released.

Nokia's latest Symbian Series 60 smart phone includes a basic music player, but it looks like it's saving the best features for the upcoming N91 hard disk phone.

THE GOOD
The look is more corporate than cool, but there's a nice chrome stripe down the side, behind which is the MMC card slot, so there's no need to remove the battery to change cards. The sound is decent enough through the standard Nokia headphones, and the mono speaker at the top is better than expected. The 3G connection means faster downloads for tracks and you can watch streaming music videos.

THE BAD
That 10MB memory won't get you much tuneage, and neither will the supplied 64MB MMC card, but you can replace it with a heftier memory card. You can transfer tracks by Bluetooth, but this dumps them in the messages folder, instead of with the rest of your music.

THE VERDICT
This is a very capable smart phone with 1.3-megapixel camera and 3G capability. But, as a music player, it doesn't do much more than the basics.
