HP iPAQ rw6815
No nonsense smartie
iPAQ may look like a neon sign of the word "Iraq"; with a faulty bulb, but this is a very competent smartphone.
There's no mechanical keyboard, so you tap at the on-screen one with a stylus. It's Windows Mobile'd up, so synchronising with a PC is a cinch, and this is also faster than most of its rivals at launching and moving between programmes. Menu navigation is swift.
There's no 3G, but it does have Wi-Fi and you should have no problems hooking it up to your home network. Music played through the Windows Media application sounds better than most smarties, if you shove a decent pair of 'phones into the 3.5mm socket. The hi-res screen, meanwhile, makes viewing downloaded videos a dream.
OK, so this isn't the most spectacular phone, but it is reliable, solid and does pretty much everything you'd want it to.
