Death Match: Google Android Marketplace VS Apple App Store
App attack
We mobile phone users are demanding swines, expecting to be able to do everything on our handsets, from finding the local pub to playing Tetris. That’s where mobile apps come in.
Apple kick-started the app experience with the original iPhone. Downloading features to your mobile was hardly new, but the user-friendly Apple App Store and the vast range of software it offered, made it feel like a revolution.
Now, though, it faces a serious challenge from Google’s Android Marketplace. Currently only available on the T-Mobile G1, the open-source Android platform has the potential to benefit a wide range of handsets – it was developed by the Open Handset Alliance which includes big names such as Sony Ericsson and Vodafone.
Can Google’s open-source upstart upset the Apple bandwagon? Read on…
Death Match One: Choice
With 105 free games and 400 free applications split over 14 categories, the Marketplace is no match for Apple. Paid-for apps are coming soon.
The Granddaddy of app stores trounces the Android with a choice of over 10,000 free and paid-for downloads. There’s something for everyone.
Winner: Apple App Store
Death Match Two: Navigation
Google Android Marketplace
The G1’s touchscreen can be sluggish and slow to refresh. Apps are categorised by popularity and date, but the search facility is sometimes maddening.
Apple App Store
Enjoy the empowering feeling of flicking through reams of apps at lightening speed. Apps can be easily located and the search is simple but effective.
Winner: Apple App Store
Death Match Three: Price
Google Android Marketplace
You’re currently charged a big, fat zero for all applications, but pay apps are arriving soon. Developers like EA and Gameloft are on board, but no prices yet.
Apple App Store
There are some useful free apps, like Tube Status, but the best apps will cost you anything from 59p for Virtual Pool, to £5.99 for Brothers in Arms.
Winner: Draw
Death Match Four: Developing apps
Google Android Marketplace
Open-source is potentially fantastic news, with any developer, however big or small, able to produce their own applications. Beware of future viruses, though.
Apple App Store
By using a closed platform, Apple maintains an iron grip over what’s released on its handset. It’s safe, but not so good for customer choice.
Winner: Google Android Marketplace
Death Match Five: Downloading
Google Android Marketplace
Over Wi-Fi, the G1’s download speeds pip the iPhone 3G by a few seconds, but you’re restricted to storing apps on the paltry 256MB internal memory.
Apple App Store
The iPhone may be slightly slower off the mark, but there’s no problem with storage here. Choose between 8GB and 16GB models and start downloading.
Winner: Draw
Death Match Six: Other
Google Android Marketplace
There are no screenshots and no blurb to let you know what apps are about, hopefully this will be rectified before you have to start paying for them.
Apple App Store
Apple includes plenty of information on each app. With descriptions, comments, ratings and screenshots all present, you’ll never be kept in the dark.
Winner: Apple App Store
Death Match Seven: Conclusion
Google Android Marketplace
Open-source makes Android Marketplace the app store of the future, with the possibility of truly massive choice. The G1 handset and the website aren’t quite up to scratch. Yet.
Apple App Store
Apple was selling apps while Android Marketplace was still in nappies, so it’s no surprise that it’s got more choice and a slicker website. Content control could become a sore point, though.
Winner: Apple App Store

To get yourself a free iPhone, iPod Touch, or the latest Macbook Air all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps:

You can choose other prizes like free iMacs from this site too! Make sure you use a real email address. Use your real details when you sign up so that the company knows where to send your gift! Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free gift if you do everything legitimately!
Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer
Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental trial (where you rent any two DVD's for free!) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 4 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free gift!
Step 3 : Refer some friends
This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free gift sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone, Touch or macbook too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free iPhone without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free gift!
Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free gift, so make sure you follow these rules!
- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.
- Don't try to cheat the system. This site has been proven legitimate, and they will catch you if you try to cheat. If you do everything legitimately, by following this guide, you will get a free gift!
Thats all, just follow my guide and you will have your free gift in no time.
