Samsung PIXON M8800 mobile phone (with video) review
Renoir who?
Samsung held out a bit longer than LG and its Renoir to launch its first 8MP touch screen offering, the equally silly named Pixon. Creative catastrophes aside is the Pixon a mobile phone Picasso or more of a street sketcher?
You'd be forgiven in thinking that the Pixon is a Renoir tagged with the Samsung logo in terms of looks. Measuring in at a mere 1.5mm thinner that the veteran (time moves quickly in the tech world) Renoir it's the slimmest 8MP cam-phone available. Decked out in Samsungs must-have black attire, it sits pretty in your palm and has a much better feel than the tacky LG offering.
Kick the bad boy into action and the screen is a delight. It's fast and responsive, scrolling through your 'chunes, messages and pics is a Lewis Hamilton-esque speedy experience and makes the Renoir feel like a granny driven Skoda in comparison. Gone are the days of the finger blistering Omnia, Tocco, oh and the Armani, our fingers were as smooth as the Fairy baby's behind after a days use.
Easing our way into the camera, we we're impressed by the quality of the pics that we snapped, even if we do say so ourselves. Keeping with the great quality of the INNOV8 i8510, pictures were detailed and were definitely up to scratch with what we've come to expect within Sammy's camera phones. Whether you're scrolling through pics of last night's debauchery on the device or on a PC they're exceptionally high res and you can spot that dead behind the eyes look from a mile off. If you do decide that zooming into your dear friend's mis-haps is a must you can't quibble with the 16x digital zoom and geo-tagging which allows you to pin point the exact location of their sambucca splutter.
Snapping not enough? Not to worry, uploading your pics on the tinterweb is a breeze in this little tinker. There was a little bit of a coverage issue, and we would have liked to be hooked up to the web quicker than we were, but once on there the great screen even manages to make dreary.com bright. Typing in addresses is again a snitch with the great touch screen and zooming in may need a health warning as the speed did cause some queasiness.
Multimedia being the buzz word in mobi's these days the Pixon packs an entertaining punch, but this is where the Renoir sticks it to poor Sammy. Packing a music and video player they're okay, but we were spoilt by the Dolby and DivX offerings on the Renoir that completely gazumps the Pixon. Memory's pretty paltry too with a Pussy Cat Dolls greatest hits saving 200MB, but an SD card lets you bump that up.
We have to admit that we were impressed by the Pixon, so much so that we had to do a video review too, but if you're looking for a touch screen phone with a camera strapped to its innards you won't go far wrong with the Pixon.

I already got a free iPhone without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free gift!
