Most MP3 players and mobiles now have voice recording functions. You know where this is going, don't you!

The arrival of voice-recording facilities on mobiles and music players has just about finished off budget dedicated recorders, yet Olympus is clinging on with this £80 no-frills model. Like most from the company, it's easy to use, has a decent screen and features a sensitive microphone. The 64MB of storage is enough for over four hours of conversations at a reasonable quality level - better than you'll get on most phones or music devices. However, there's no method for transferring files to a PC, nor any accessories such as headphones or a rechargeable battery. With pocket space at a premium, this is probably one gadget you can live without.
