Wii dancing giant retains UK gaming crown
Latin dancing fanatics have endeavoured to keep Zumba Fitness at number one in the UK games chart for the second week running.
With no big new releases to challenge it, sales for the intense dance and fitness title suffered an eight per cent decline in sales over the past seven days yet still managed to leave Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars trailing in its wake.
With Wii sales accounting for 90% of Zumba units shifted it appears hardcore gamers are yet to succumb to the delights of throwing muscle-toning shapes in their living rooms. However, sales for Zumba Fitness’ Xbox Kinect version did rise 14%, proving the strengths of motion gaming still lie with high-energy workouts.
Elsewhere, Crysis 2 fell a place to number three followed at four by FIFA 11, the football juggernaut, which is still going strong aided by the backing of several retailer promotions. Similarly Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters dropped one place to five with sales having held up following the dramatic golfing tournament of just over a week ago.
Shift 2: Unleashed, the latest incarnation of Need For Speed franchise, was the week’s biggest loser tumbling from five to the lowly position of ten.
